A cook who served Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue, a Managing Director at the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in Abuja, has absconded with cash and pieces of jewelry worth $6million.

According to a report by Sahara Reporters, it was gathered that the man, identified as Gabel Segbedji, a national of Benin Republic, took off with the loot in a Toyota Camry car which also belonged to her boss, last Wednesday.

Although reportedly devastated by the development, Mrs. Nnamdi-Ogbue did not report the burglary to the police, in the hope of avoiding further attention, as she is already under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Mrs. Nnamdi Ogbue was the Managing Director of the cash-spinning Petroleum Products and Marketing Company (PPMC) before she was moved to Products Retail by then GMD of NNPC, Ibe Kachikwu, in 2015.

Segbedji is said to have been recommended for employment to Mrs. Nnamdi-Ogbue by a close friend of hers, Toke Benson. A source said the NNPC chief obtained the mountain of cash from kickbacks given by oil marketers

According to Sahara Reporters, "The theft of the stash is likely to affect plans for the wedding of her daughter scheduled for later this month in London."

20 year old man, Enilolobo Olamilekan who is a Lagos state indigene and a teacher at Agbokunloko College, Ikotun, Lagos State, Tuesday denied raping a 12-year-old, Junior Secondary School 2 girl. He said the only thing he did to her was put his p*nis in her mouth.
After he defiled the girl, he said he didn't expect her to tell her parents but she did. The little girl told her mum who raised the alarm and reported the case Ikotun Police Division.

The Police went to his home and arrested him.

While paraded by the Police Olamilekan, told newsmen what happened. He said:

[b]“I usually teach the victim and two others after school hours at Ikotun. When the girl was brought to my place, I said they should buy a notebook for her, but her parents did not. Last Wednesday, I gave her an assignment, but she did not do it. When she came to me on Thursday during school period, I asked of the notebook, she said her mother did not give her the money. I told her to go to JSS one class and join the other two girls; that I would soon be with them.

“When I was done with my classes, I joined them there and taught them for the day. My house is not far from the school. My mum called me to come home and do the dishes. “I told the girl to go with me, that I would buy the notebook for her at a woman’s shop near my house. She went with me; I bought the book for her and she said she was hungry. I bought biscuit for her and as I was about to go, the woman said I should bring her bottle which had been with me. I told her I would bring it later, but she refused. She said the victim should go with me to the house, so that I would give her the bottle. That was how the girl went with me to the house.

“I took her inside our parlour. I put her on the chair and put my manhood in her mouth. I did not touch her private part. They have done a test and confirmed I did not touch her there. She did not cry and she did not complain. But she went home and reported to her parents. “I only put my male organ inside the mouth of the girl. I did not rape her. I just do not know what got into me.

However, I’m ready to face the consequences of my action. I know I have committed a crime and I’m guilty.Whatever is my punishment; I’ll face it and hope God would have mercy on me. I have never done something like this before. I do not have a girlfriend"[/b]

Lagos state police command spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos, says the suspect will be charged for indecent assault.

The Governor of Oyo State, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi, has donated a sum of One million naira to the University of Ibadan Students' Union, under the leadership of Mr. Ojo Oluwanifemi, to commemorate the Union's week.

The donation was granted at the Oyo state government house during the visit of the members of the Union during the Union's carnival, which was the first activity of the week.

On getting to the Secretariat, Students of University of Ibadan were delayed from gaining entry at first, until calls were made and the approval for their entry was granted.

At the office of the Governor, he was announced absent by the Secretary to the Oyo State government, who later addressed Uites.

While addressing members of the Union, the Students' Union President, Mr. Ojo Oluwanifemi, said that member of the Union have come to do the usual by paying homage to the office of the Governor, as a way of commencing the Union's week.

In his words, "We are here again, to tell our fathers that we have started. It is a tradition.....to get the gbemu."

The Secretary to the Oyo State government, who spoke on behalf of the governor, appreciated the Union for always believing in the Oyo state government. He said that the governor was unavoidably absent but will donate a sum of a million naira to the Union, which is to be sent within the next 24 hours, from the declaration of the amount.

According to him, "I congratulate you on the marking of another Students' Union week. Particularly under the leadership of my very good brother here (Nifemi)."

"I will on behalf of the governor, announce a donation of the sum of one million Naira.
Within 24 hours, this money will be in your account.", he said.

An agricultural produce, My Garri, which was an initiative of an Agricultural Economics student was introduced to the Secretary of the Oyo state government by Mr. Ojo Nifemi.

Nigerian Business man, Tony Elumelu met with his Billionaire counterpart, Bill Gates at the Le Cub l’Economie in France where they both spoke about the new role of global philanthropy and its increasing influence on business, politics and culture.

Speaking at the event organized by leading French newspaper, Le Monde, Tony Elumelu who is the Chairman of Heirs Holdings and United Bank for Africa, wrote on his Facebook page:

Junko Tabei (22 September 1939 – 20 October 2016) was a Japanese mountaineer. She was the first woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest, and the first woman to ascend all Seven Summits by climbing the highest peak on every continent.

Tabei was born in Miharu, Fukushima, the fifth daughter in a family of seven children. She was considered a frail, weak child, but nevertheless she began mountain climbing at the age of 10, going on a class climbing trip to Mount Nasu. Although she was interested in doing more climbing, her family didn't have enough money for such an expensive hobby, and Tabei made only a few climbs during her high school years.

From 1958 to 1962, Tabei studied English literature and education at Showa Women's University, where she was a member of the mountain climbing club. After graduating, Tabei formed the Ladies Climbing Club: Japan (LCC) in 1969. The club's slogan was "Let's go on an overseas expedition by ourselves", and was the first of its kind in Japan. Tabei later stated that she founded the club as a result of how she was treated by male mountaineers of the time; some men, for example, refused to climb with her, while others thought she was only interested in climbing as a way to find a husband.

During this time, she climbed mountains such as Mount Fuji in Japan and the Matterhorn in the Swiss Alps. By 1972, Tabei was a recognized mountain climber in Japan.

Junko Tabei, a mountaineer who reached the summit of the world’s highest peak in 1975, died of cancer on Thursday, according to Japanese public broadcaster NHK. She was 35 when she reached the 29,000 foot summit of Mount Everest in 1975.
After she climbed Mount Everest, she went ahead and climbed the highest peaks in 70 countries.

Tabei became the first woman to scale the tallest mountains on all 7 continents in 1992, including Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt. Denali. Tabei was diagnosed with Cancer 4 years ago but she continued to climb while undergoing treatment.

The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has endorsed the meeting between President Buhari and elders of the Niger Delta region.
The meeting which was earlier scheduled to hold on October 29, 2016, was moved to October 31, 2016.

Earlier, the Greenland Justice Mandate (GJM) had reportedly asked President Buhari to call off his meeting with elders from the region, saying it is not a wise decision to meet with the same people who allegedly caused the problem in the Niger Delta.

However, the spokesman of MEND, Jomo Gbomo, issued a statement saying [b]“The forthcoming meeting vindicates MEND and Federal Government’s continued insistence and belief ab initio that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari meant well for the sustainable peace and development of the hitherto neglected Niger Delta region.”

“MEND reiterates that we were the first and only militant group in the Niger Delta region who were meaningfully and constructively engaged in talks with the Federal Government with a view to resolving the Niger Delta crisis; as duly confirmed by no less a person than President Muhammadu Buhari sometime in July, 2016 in his farewell remarks to the outgoing German Ambassador, Mr. Michael Zinner.

“Following the fruitful talks, several concessions were secured by both parties. For the federal government, the major concession they secured was that MEND pledged the group’s firm commitment to work assiduously to get all aggrieved militant groups in the region to ceasefire and line up behind a single umbrella body.

“MEND duly kept to the terms of the agreement by leveraging on its vast contacts to prevail on militant groups, criminal elements amongst others to ceasefire and recognized Chief Edwin Clark to lead the Niger Delta region in proposed talks with the federal government.

“The federal government, Nigerians and the international community would certainly agree that, as part of these concerted patriotic efforts by MEND within the preceding six months of this year, relative peace has since returned to the Niger Delta region. The country’s oil and gas production capacity has also increased tremendously.

“However, in spite of MEND efforts, the federal government is yet to keep to the terms of the agreement reached with the group. Indeed, one of the key concessions secured by MEND was that, the federal government would concede to the release of certain political prisoners, including but not limited to the Okah Brothers – Henry and Charles.

“Nevertheless, with news of the forthcoming meeting between President Buhari and the Chief Clark-led PANDEF, we are confident that the concessions already secured by MEND shall be respected by the federal government.

“Consequently, we urge members of the Chief Edwin Clark-led PANDEF to put aside personal interests and ambitions of primitive aggrandizement. Rather, we implore them to realize that the Niger Delta region is at a zebra crossing and, therefore, they must remain steadfast and focused on their core mandate, to wit: restoration of sustainable and permanent peace and development of the region.”[/b]

A 19-year-old man, Felix Gbadebo has been arrested by the Ogun state police for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl little girl (whose name was not released due to her age). In a statement by State Police Command image-maker, Abimbola Oyeyemi in Abeokuta on Sunday, the suspect called the little girl into his room on the pretext that he wanted to send her on an errand then raped her as soon as she entered his room.

Oyeyemi said:

“The suspect, according to the complainant, who is the father of the victim, called the girl, pretending he wanted to send her on an errand, and lured her into his room, where he used a pillow to cover her mouth and sexually abused her. The girl reported the case to her father, who informed police."

The victim’s father reported the incident at Sango Divisional Police Station, which led to the arrest of Gbadebo.

Oyeyemi added:

“The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to anti-human trafficking and child labour unit of the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligent Department for further investigation.

“He appealed to parents to always be watchful of their children in order to prevent them from becoming victims in the hands of people with devilish intentions.”
