PoliticsRe: Nigeria's Economy In 18 Years - The Cable Index by KaLuCh: 9:41pm On Apr 23, 2025
Nicklee:
What is the exchange rate used to estimate the GDPs? Tinubu purposely devalued the naira (expecting some economic benefits) while the other GDPs were estimated based on propped up value of the naira. This is meaningless as is represented here.
You well?

Help me abeg, with the devalued, unpropped up state of Naira, are we better as a country? Are we buying things cheaper? Like wetin be una problem for this life? Person come power, reduce the purchasing power of the money wey dey your hand, and did absolutely nothing to increase your income or even lower the cost of your expenditure, thereby plunging hundreds of millions into extreme hardship, you still dey do yeye useless defence? Wow

PoliticsRe: Finnish Court Approves Simon Ekpa's Extradition To Nigeria in July - Daily Times by KaLuCh: 7:58pm On Apr 22, 2025
Philipponzaghi:
The news is pure bunkum and balderdash. Ekpa's extradition would be possible after the end of the Ukraine and Russia war. The Finnish government would not be stupid to extradite a Nigerian who is currently residing in Finland.
I be Igbo, I dey wait joyfully for his extradition. He's a thief and a murderer. He will rot in jail.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Apology For Rough Rollout Of New Bot Mandate by KaLuCh:
Seun:
Dear Nairalanders,

For years, people have been alleging that Nairaland is a toxic place where people insult each other and exhibit uncontrolled tribal bigotry. So after my last thread, we decided to follow through by extending the mandate of our anti-spam bot to include dealing with toxicity.

Unfortunately, the roll out wasn't smooth: many innocent members were unjustly banned. We apologize profusely for this. We will keep tweaking the bot to make it more accurate. Meanwhile, please reach out to the mods and supermods if you are unjustly banned.

Hit me with your suggestions and complaints.
Nahhh man. You're not being honest. Bots did not fail. You and your team did. Yall don't just allow the hate, you encourage it. When you're serious, you know how to deal with it. For now, you're most likely benefiting from the traffic it generates.

I got a ban after this comment. LOL

Christianity EtcRe: Early Church Persecution; How The Disciples Of Jesus Christ Ended by KaLuCh: 11:09am On Apr 20, 2025
First, for all those bashing today's church leaders because they are living the realities that the Lord and his apostles paved way for, you don't know the bible.

Neither Jesus nor the apostles lived miserable lives. The apostles became men of influence following the death of Christ. They shook the whole known world. They met with world leaders, preached to and converted some of them. Revered by societies and early churches. They were not by any means impoverished. Just the logistics of the things they did would require vast amount of wealth by the standards of their day. If you can't fathom that, na your head.

Secondly, and this is for anybody doubting the Lordship and Godhood of Jesus, every last one of the apostles died a terrible death instead of denying for one second that Christ rose from the dead. These were the same guys that bolted and denied him when he was arrested. They watched him die. And three days later, he walked through a wall into the room where they were huddled together in fear and doubt. After 40 days, they watched ascend into the skies. From then onwards, Omo, nothing anybody could do would make them fear as they did before. Saw them into two, boil them in oil, skin alive, they have seen something that was impossible to deny!

Nobody would endure such tragic death over a lie. JESUS IS THE RISEN KING. HAPPY EASTER.

Tinubu is a listening president.

He has shown commitment to resolving the issues in Plateau state and I believe with time, things will get better.
If you be human being, make thunder no fire you. E-diot. Tinubu was quick to act in Rivers where no life was lost, but where humans are being massacred, he's only capable of listening.

I pray make this evil way you dey support because of 30k no permanently ruin you. Fuul.

Christianity EtcRe: Can Christian Brothers Plait Or Colour Their Hair? by KaLuCh: 8:51am On Jan 26, 2025
cutecommend:
If you check in some churches, you will see guys with plaited and probably see ladies and guys with coloured hair. You may even see guitarists with plaited hair. Is this right for a genuinely born again Christian?
The bible says in 2 Corinth 6:17 "Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you".

True born again Christians should appear in a way that sinners will not have doubt about their Christian faith. They should appear in a way that people can receive the gospel from them without doubting them as true Christians.

A true born again guy should not be seen with plaited hair, neither should guys and ladies have coloured hair.

TRUE CHRISTIANS SHOULD BE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.
Your knowledge of the word is far too shallow. If I were you, I'd focus on my relationship with the Holy Spirit and the word of God, and completely shut my mind to other Christian's lifestyle choices.

Nobody, at least not God, called you to be the judge of characters. People like you would do so much damage to other people's faith if given the platform. And that my dear brother, is the devil's work.

Your eyes should be on the Author and Finisher of our faith, not your fellow brethren.

PoliticsRe: Simon Ekpa Of Nairaland Is Actually The Real Simon Ekpa. by KaLuCh: 8:40am On Jan 26, 2025
kettykin:
The people who are directly impacted by sit-at-home orders and the actions of so-called UGM are predominantly Igbos. Yet, the ones foaming at the mouth with glee over Simon Ekpa's arrest are Yorubas.

This is the tenth version of this story I’ve come across on Nairaland today. Can someone explain what’s really going on here?

What baffles me is this: when a Yoruba lieutenant colonel was reportedly killed in Yobe State by Boko Haram, there was no flood of prayer posts, no outpouring of "RIP" messages, no wave of sympathy or empathy. Yet, Ekpa's arrest has sparked countless comments and celebrations in multiple threads. Where’s the consistency? What drives this selective outrage and joy?
I’m Igbo, and my entire family, along with my street and community, celebrated when the Ekperima was apprehended. The relief was palpable. In fact, I’m yet to meet even five honest, hardworking Igbo men who support Simon Ekpa. What he did was nothing short of hiring crooks, thieves, and touts to wreak havoc in Igbo land—killing and maiming the very people Biafra was supposedly meant to protect.

I’ve witnessed firsthand the atrocities these heartless criminals committed. I saw them harass an elderly woman simply because she dared to open her shop on a Monday to clean it. They murdered my ex’s in-law in cold blood just to steal his car and fund their criminal operations. And there are countless other stories like this. Because of this reign of terror, many wealthy Igbo people stopped driving home for the holidays, and some avoid coming at all.

Yet here you are, spewing nonsense about how non-Igbos are "crying more than the bereaved." That’s a wicked lie. The truth is clear: Kanu created this monster, and Ekpa unleashed it on innocent people. The only ones terrorized are the very people these criminals claimed they were fighting to protect.

Your post is an insult to the memories of the hundreds—if not thousands—of innocent Igbo lives brutally taken by these criminals. Shame on you for trying to distort the truth and dishonor their graves.
PropertiesRe: A Tenant Doesn't Want To Move Out After His House Rent Expires by KaLuCh: 6:00pm On Jan 10, 2025
histemple:
A landlord does not need to tell you the reason he wants a tenant to leave. It's the prerogative of a landlord to decide who stays or leaves.
Absolutely true. However, a landlord's approach to handling an eviction would heavily depend on why they want the tenant gone.

In this case, I think the landlord has every right to use the law and force an eviction.
