ukaface: It’s a mortgage not a blood oath. You don’t want to be locked in? Pay it off or sell the house and go back to renting. A mortgage system allows middle class families to own homes and property, it by far beats a system where only the wealthy can own property and the rest remain landless serfs 4 Likes |

Politics / Re: Why Ibo Man Will Never Be President Of This Our Dear Corntree by Kalvan: 1:36am On Feb 17 |
Such an asinine post. As others have pointed out, where is the evidence of this collective industriousness in Igbo land? It doesn't exist. Why? Igbos are an individualistic people. There's nothing wrong with that (to a certain degree), but that doesn't make you a great partner when it comes to building up the collective. An igbo man will strike wealth, build a marvelous house in the village, but won't fix the roads that lead to said marvelous house because it's the government's responsibility and not theirs, and why should they fix something that will be used by others as well. They're not wrong, but it displays their thinking, which is only caring about themselves and not the larger community. |

Makavelli001: Haha You're insane You Ipods and your revisionist history. The irony of it all is that before the civil war, Igbos would be the ones to remind you of your Ikwerre/ minority status. My Source? My older Ikwerre relatives that lived though the civil war 1 Like 1 Share |
Food / Re: Roasted Baboon: Is It Advisable To Eat This Kind Of Animal? by Kalvan: 12:00pm On Jan 06 |
This is some low IQ shit lol. When these people start dying from a new Ebola type disease, better not cry to Europe and the USA to save you. There’s a reason humans can eat cows, goats, sheep, etc. Thousands of years of domestication and selective breeding of these animals to make them palatable livestock |
Politics / Re: IPOB: Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer Reveals Next Move After Supreme Court Judgment by Kalvan: 6:45pm On Dec 15, 2023 |
This is one thing that fascinates me about groups like IPOB, MASOP in the Ken Saro Wiwa days. You pay lipservice to using violent means to upend the current order, rule of law, while at the same time expecting the same rule of law to save you when things go sour. You cannot serve two masters. Boko Haram are violent terrorists, but at least they're about that life. They don't expect the courts, international communities or NGOs to save them. It's either the actualization of their goals or their death. Food for thought for the unruly among us 4 Likes |

socialmediaman: Good take. On first read, it seemed like a case of a hubristic professor that either misjudged the efficiency of SA systems or misjudged the amount of enemies with an axe to grind I.e. his ex, but your post makes me see how the renunciation could have been a strategic move if he anticipated this happening, and wanted to stymie deportation |
Politics / Re: Are There Any Renowned Igbo Pre Colonial Monarchs? by Kalvan: 6:17pm On Oct 24, 2023 |
MXrep: Fair. Throughout history up until 100-200 years ago, the men that made the history books were monarchs, warriors, conquerors. From Charlemagne to Napoleon. Alexander the Great to Louis XV. My question should be who were the great Igbos from precolonial times? Names that show up in the history books, I couldn’t name one, so please assist me 1 Like |

Maybe my question should be were there any renowned precolonial Igbos that ended up in the history books? Statesmen, warriors, anyone? Btw for the people citing the USA, the USA was once a colony pledged to the crown of King George III, and eventually George V before the heavy handedness of the crown with it’s taxation and other matters led to the revolt against the crown 1 Like |

Politics / Are There Any Renowned Igbo Pre Colonial Monarchs? by Kalvan: 3:33am On Oct 24, 2023 |
I've been perusing the various texts on the precolonial kingdoms that existed on what is called modern-day Nigeria, and I'm surprised to see there are no renowned Igbo monarchs. By renowned, I mean a ruler similar in stature to Oduduwa, Oba Oranmiyan, Alaafin Shango, Oba Ewuare of Benin, Sarki Abdullahi Burja of Kano, Sarki Yaji of Kano. Does anyone have any examples? Please no tribalism 3 Likes 1 Share |

Politics / Re: She Is Ikwerre And Not Igbo by Kalvan: 2:18am On Aug 15, 2023 |
As an Ikwerre man, I will say it is the hubris of ibos that cause their issues in Nigeria. An Ibo man will go to heaven, and try to lecture god on the creation of the earth. They think they're smarter and wiser than all men. Good for you, but your lack of humility and know it all attitude is why every group will continue to stymie you 3 Likes |

Ikwerres are not Ibos! I will say this until I am blue in the face. The narrative that Ikwerres disassociated from Ibos after the civil war is a farce. The men in my Ikwerre village were the ones that brought in the federal troops. The Ikwerres are as Ibo, as a Frenchman is English. Thank you for coming to my tedtalk 1 Like |
