AgricultureAvoid This Deadly Mistake When Clearing Your Farmland by Karbswell(op): 10:05am On Mar 03
‎Manual clearing of farmlands that run into hundreds of acres of farmland can be very slow operation.work that will take a buldozer machine less than a week will take human labor month to get executed.Choosing mechanised system to clear forest farmlands will pose a serious long term challenges by depleting the nutrient top soil of the farmland while the human labor as slow and challenging it could be will definitely preserve the soil quality of the farmland which translate to quick crop plant growth and bumper harvest .

‎When you want to open forest lands for real estate business using mechanised machines remain the best option but when you want to do crop planting and you understand that the quality of your soil is a major determinant factor of future yield and returns then you already know the right thing to do .

‎On this project site we shall be cultivating crops like oil palm trees ,coconut and plantains and we may also consider pineapple with both pineapple and plantain as short term investment plan while coconut and oil palm remains our major long term investment plan.

‎Farmers don't control prices and market trends and this makes it very hard to predict future returns on investment but provided everyone wakes up to eat on daily basis and the fact that many local factories and companies depend on farm produce as raw materials we believe food production business will remain a rewarding venture both now and in the not too distant future for every smart and patience farmers, stakeholders and investors within the agricultural value chain .

AgricultureOvercoming some common challenges in oil palm farming by Karbswell(op): 12:00pm On Jan 06

‎While you are preparing to venture into oil palm plantation farming, prepare your mind that the first 4 years will be your years of struggle and real time investment in human and material resources to ensure the sustainability of the oil palm farm .

‎Withing the first two years some of the challenges we face in oil palm farming are weed management and rodents attack on young oil palm seedlings .These two challenges are capable of frustrating the farm owner to the extent of abandoning the farm .The best solution to this is to take a decisive action on weed management .Heavy weeds in oil palm farm attract rodents and other wild animal to fed on the young palm seedlings .

‎Another common challenges in oil palm farming is failure to replace dead palm trees during year 2.By the end of year 1 every new oil palm is likely to experience reduction in plant population due to rodent attack or weeds infestation . Failure to replace dead palm trees will lead to reduction in plant population and loss of yield in the future .

‎Another common challenges in oil palm farming which usually occur in year 3 to 4 is unproductive palm tree. At these stage fruition production should start and failure to achieve this maybe as a result of planting the wrong seedlings or planting of what we called F2 seedlings which takes longer period to start producing or become a barren plant .We always advised that when your oil palm tree is 4 years old without producing any fruits do not hesitate to cut it down and replace them with a Tenera oil palm of the highest grade quality .

‎Mistakes are common phenomenon in human struggles but not knowing your mistakes and improving on them could be the reason why businesses go into extinction within their first decade .

AgricultureRevenue Projection In Oil Palm Farming by Karbswell(op): 7:53am On Dec 27, 2025
‎Projected revenue in oil palm farming

‎Written By kkfarms

‎Generation of revenue in Oil palm farming follows a progressive trend rather get rich quick scheme .Annual yield per acre which start either from year 3 or year 4 increases against the previous years harvest hence when you are managing an oil palm farm and you are considering profitability it becomes pertinent to spread the annual returns on investment over the economic productive life of the palm trees which span across 30 years in the case of hybrid oil palm trees like the improved tenera plant .

‎Within the first decade out of which 4 years shall be dedicated to huge investment in farmland acquisition, bush clearing, procurement of seedlings ,weeding and fertilisation and sometimes securities etc the remaining years of the palm tree plantation shall continue to witness increase revenue from sales of fresh palm oil and palm kernel year in year out  .

‎Annual yield per tree within the first decade average between 10 to 15 litres of fresh palm oil which translate to 600 to 900 litres of palm oil per acre after processing considering that an acre can only take 60 to 65 plants .  At today's market value of fresh palm oil a litre is sold for 2000 naira and this when multiplied by 900 litres obtainable within the first decade will generate a total of 1.8million naira revenue per acre from a young oil palm plantation .

‎Plant population per acre 65
‎Yield per tree 15 litres
‎Price per litre 2000 naira

‎65 x 15 litres
‎975 litres of oil
‎X 2000 naira
‎1,950,000 naira revenue

‎Deduct yearly cost of farm mentainance and processing such as cost of weeding ,harvesting ,fertilizer , transportation and processing

‎*,let's take 50 percent of revenue as cost of farm mentainance, transportation and processing palm fruits into crude palm oil (CPO)

‎1,950,000 - 975,000 naira

‎Net profit
‎975,000 naira per acre

‎Note ;an acre of oil palm farm that yield between 600 to 900 litres of palm oil depending on quality of seeds planted and management of farm within the first 10 years will increase oil yield per acre when the plant attains more growth in size ,this means that from 900 litres the farm can achieve 1000 to 1500 litre per acre and in the next 5 years 1,500 litres of fresh palm oil could sell for 3000 naira per litre due to inflation and this could increase the farm revenue from 1,950,000 to around 4,500,000 naira annually in the next 5 years .

Agriculture‎the Production Capacity Of Oil Palm Tree When Compare To Other Oil Producing Cr by Karbswell(op): 1:49pm On Dec 20, 2025

‎THE PRODUCTION CAPACITY OF OIL PALM TREE WHEN COMPARE TO OTHER OIL PRODUCING CROP PLANTS

‎When it comes to agricultural productivity ,oil palm tree remain the most productive crop plants and when you compare it to other oil producing plants it still top the list of the most oil yielding plants .infact it remains the only tree that can yield two different type of oil from the same fruits all year round which are fresh palm oil FPO and palm kernel oil PKO.

‎Despite the tons of demand for oil palm related product we are yet to meet local demands not to even mention the international demand of these products .the supply vs demand gap of these products can be bridged by boosting our production through planting high yielding oil palm seedlings and improving our farm management techniques and more importantly we need more people to invest in oil palm farming by investing in farmland acquisition and planting of these crop plants .obviously you cannot own an oil palm farm without first investing in land acquisition .

‎Except you are doing something wrong at the farm or let me jokingly say your village people are against your success you can hardly loose money in oil palm farming .you have variety of products( palm oil ,palm kernel oil ,palm kernel cake) to produce and sell from the single plants hence it is only mismanagement on the side of the farmer that can lead to loss of investment in oil palm farming .

‎Within the first decade of planting ,a well maintained single tenera oil palm tree can bear fruits bunches which can yield between 15 to 20 litres of palm oil annually at full maturity under good agronomic practice and the good news is that the oil yield increases as the plant increase in girth and size which enable it to carry more fruits bunches .therefore when you have 60 productive oil palm tree on an acre you can estimate the litres of oil you will obtained annually .whatever yield you obtained within the plant early years of fruit production will increase in subsequent years .

‎Agriculture is not a rocket science ,it requires having the basic knowledge of what to do ,how to do it and when to do it and if all these are strictly adhere to your oil palm tree will reward you year in year out .

‎With the level of hardship this economy is facing we need to redirect our focus to producing cash crops which we can sell both locally and internationally so that we can earn more money to reduce the negative effect of inflation we are currently facing .

‎If you have taken a decision to set up your oil palm plantation you can reach out to kkfarms for a business proposal that will guide you on how to successfully establish your oil palm plantation and provide you with basic cost of every farm operation from year 1 to year 3 .Do not forget we also have viable seedlings available for sale to all farmers for this year's farming season

AgricultureUnderstanding The Value Of An Oil Palm Tree And Choice Of Farmland Acquisition by Karbswell(op): 10:01am On Oct 20, 2025
UNDERSTANDING THE VALUE OF AN OIL PALM TREE AND CHOICE OF FARMLAND ACQUISITION

Within the first decade of planting ,a well maintained single tenera oil palm tree can bear fruits bunches which can yield between 15 to 20 litres of palm oil annually under good agronomic practice and the good news is that the oil yield increases as the plant increase in girth and size which enable it to carry more fruits bunches , therefore if you have 60 productive oil palm tree on an acre you can estimate the litres of oil you will obtained annually .

Base on the Nigerian standard of oil palm farming and our knowledge of farm management an estimated 20 litres of fresh palm oil is obtainable from a single plant at full maturity now worth more than 40,000 naira that multiply by 60 plant on an acre will produce total revenue of 2.4million naira or more depending on yield annually for the farm owner considering the present economic value of palm oil excluding revenue from palm kernel products ,this is only achievable through planting of the best grade of seedlings called Tenera produced by NIFOR.Imported brand from approved seed company such as supergene produced by Etani ,Calix, Yagambi produced by Wilmar can produce more litres of oil per plant under good farm management

According to Idika Aja ,a chartered broker and financial analyst ,For the nine months ending September 2025, Okomu one of the biggest oil palm company in Nigeria posted a profit of N60.33 billion, surpassing the full-year 2024 profit by 50%, and marking the highest profit in the past five years.
Revenue rose sharply to N174 billion, up 63% year-on-year, outpacing even the company’s full-year revenue in 2024 and establishing a new benchmark for the past half-decade

oil palm tree is progressive plant that produces more oil 🪔 as it continues to age and increase in height .whatever yield you are getting in year 4 will increase towards year 5 and above .Oil palm farming will not bring you the fortunes and millions within 3 to 4 years but with careful planning and patience there is nothing one cannot achieved in oil palm farming .

Oil palm farming is only possible when you can acquire your farmland in acres or hectares at an oil palm growing region in the southern part of Nigerian .Lands are more cheaper in the South west part of Nigeria than South South and South East .In the South west , One can acquire acre of land at the rate of 300k to 500k in the rural regions from family owners or private individuals and one can also acquire farmland at the rate of 140k per acre at the Ife reserve farm Osun state while you pay government tax annually which comes at a token of 40k to 50k annually .

There are farm settlements in south west formerly used to cultivate cocoa during the time of Obafemi Awolowo as the premier of the western region from where revenues were generated to build the popular cocoa house in ibadan and other critical infrastructure in Southwest .Most of these lands are being reallocated to farmers at cheaper rates to cultivate cash crops like palm trees and cocoa .

Whatever arrangement you have to acquire farmlands for oil palm farming ensure that the acquisition is a long term basis and do proper checks to ensure that the farmland is well secured from land grabbers and Fulani herdsmen.

AgricultureReasons Why Oil Palm Farming Will Stand The Test Of Time When Other Crops Failed by Karbswell(op): 8:38pm On Aug 18, 2025
Let the government continue to open borders for more grain to be imported to the country while the smart farmers invest in tree crops plantation farming .In the last couple of months the Nigerian farmer as experience a sporadic increase in the prices of farm inputs such as fertiliser, chemicals and seeds however they ended up selling their produce at a give away prices to middle men because the government instead continuing the policy of empowering farmers by subsidizing the regular farm inputs chose to thread the easy way of importing grains that can be produce in Nigeria .

The average Nigerian farmers are now loosing their investment as a result of the government policies but the smart ones are gradually reducing their investment in the farming of stable foods like maize to tree crops plantation farm like oil palms ,cocoa and cashew which is known to not only generate future returns on investment but can create a sustainable agribusiness which will inturn build a generational wealth for the family which start from one person taking the right decision to liberate himself and his family .

If a well planned acre of oil palm farm at full maturity can generate revenue of 1.5million to 2million annually under good agronomic practice I see no reason why a farmer with many acres of land should continue to loose investment to maize and cassava farming but rather dedicate some acres of the farmland to cultivate tree crop like oil palms ,the idea is that if the short term crop like maize and cassava failed you the tree crop like palm tree will reward you in the next couple of years .Let's stop farming with emotion because no one will save your farm when you loose your investment .

Having achieved planting of over 130 acres oil palm and cocoa farm across Ogun ,Osun,Oyo and kwara this year for Nigerians at home and in diaspora we are now programmed to follow up the management of the farms by mentaining them efficiently .The biggest challenges you will face when farming tree crops is to get labour to weed your big farms but instead of allowing weeds to take over the contract farms we opt for cycle weeding of the palms and apply fertilisers, this will ensure that we do not loose our palms to weeds and rodents which are also the greatest enemy of palms trees .

AgricultureReasons Why Oil Palm Tree Could Be Unproductive After Several Years Of Nurturing by Karbswell(op): 9:46am On Aug 15, 2025
What do you think could make a supposed hybrid oil palm tree fruitless after several years of nurturing ?

The reasons could be natural factor or man made ,some palm trees will naturally not produce fruits even if you adopt the best agronomic practice ,they will remain sterile and we usually referred to them as male palm trees .if you want to identify them on your farm, notice any palm tree that produces flowers but upon fruits set the flower die back or rotten .This is neither caused by poor pollination nor poor farm management .

It is practically impossible to not have few stands of male palm tree on your farm however if you have more than 10 percent of your palm trees showing the trait of male palm trees then it could be that the source of your seedlings is not genuine ,it could probably mean that second or third generation of palm tree seedlings was planted instead of the popular first generation of tenera F1 which is pure hybrid from direct cross pollination of DURA and PISSIFERA parent oil palm trees .

Man made causes of unproductive palm trees could be as a result of not adopting the best agronomic practice in the management of the palm plantation during year 1 to 3 ,practices such as lack of regular cycle weeding and non application of the right fertiliser at the right time and the right quantity .man made causes of unproductive palm trees can be corrected by adopting the best agronomic practice and within a year the farmer will see improvement in the yield .The only mistake that cannot be corrected in oil palm farming is to plant the wrong seedlings and if this happens the farmer will have to remove the plant and replant an improved variety called Tenera F1 .

Success in oil palm farming start from planting the right seedlings and when this is achieved the farmer should be guaranteed that more than 95 percent of the plant will be productive and should start generating revenue with year 3 to 5 years .

OIL PALM FARMING AND HOW YOU CAN ACQUIRE FARMLAND IN GOVERNMENT RESERVES AND FARM SETTLEMENT IN NIGERIA

When you cultivate crops like oil palm tree you are not just farming but you are cultivating your freedom .Freedom from poverty and gradual journey to financial freedom. In the past couples of year fresh palm oil is being sold for 500 naira per litre and today the price is hovering around 1,500 to 2000 naira per litre with 25 litres keg being sold for 45k to 50k in the rural areas where we farm oil palm tree ,the price expected to skyrocket in subsequent months .Imagine the kind of revenue farmers and investors who planted palm trees 5 to 6 years ago are generating as at today .however we are not just talking about farmers and investors who planted palm but those who planted the right seedlings and went through the hard labor to nurture their plant .Indeed they are the lucky ones selling palm oil locally at the rate of 1500 to 2000 naira per litre as at today .

With less than 65 palm trees on an acre it as been proven that best the grade of tenera can yield 1,300 to 1500 litre of palm oil at full maturity while the lower grade of tenera called F2 seedlings will yield less than 700 litre per acre more reason why at @kkfarms we always advise our farmers to plant the best grade of tenera no matter the selling price it will reward you in the long run .

I think the greatest challenges of oil palm farming is acquisition of farmland ,now to acquire an acre of family land in the rural side it will cost you between 300k to 400k per acre and when you consider that you maybe needing up to 5 to 10 acres farmland to start a small scale farm and with this price how much would one needs to buy 10 acres of land and still have money left to set up and manage the farm ?.this is where the decision to consider acquiring land in a government reserve farmland and farm settlement in your respective state is the best way to go .

This year only we have acquire over 120 acres of farmland at the rate of 170k per acre for nigerians and Nigerians in diaspora which we are planting palm trees ,cocoa and plantain at moment .pictures of work done shall be attached to this article .The land is under the management of Ife forest reserve as the case maybe and all you have to do is to pay annual dues or tax and attend farmers association meeting at the farm settlement you acquire land .My recent research shows that there are many local farmers farming on this land for the past 30 years and according to them provided you are paying annual taxes which is less than 30k per annum to the state and communal taxes you continue to farm on those land and handover the ownership to your children whenever you retire ..My only advise is that if you want to acquire land in farm settlement and government reserves ensure that the farmland is located more than an hour drive away from the nearest town or residential areas so as to avoid estate management people from encroaching your farmland under the reserve .Having read this ,lack of funds to acquire farmland should not be your excuses and the good news is that these reserved land and settlement are located in some south west state that I know such as Osun ,Ogun and ondo .I do not know of Oyo state but if you are very rich go and buy your land from family owners or community chiefs .

We are still in the early season of oil palm planting and incase your farmland is ready you and engage with us to set up your farms within and outside south west we are ready to go .

AgricultureThe Real Issues With Oil Palm Farming In Nigeria By Kkfarms by Karbswell(op): 6:39am On Mar 14, 2025
THE REAL ISSUES WITH OIL PALM FARMING IN NIGERIA BY KKFARMS

Between 2014 and 2015 the oil palm farming industry as continue to attracts the attention of Nigerians who wants to invest in setting up oil palm plantation .The recent hike in the prices of oil palm value added product as shift the attention of nigerians both home and abroad to invest in this precious crop but at KKFARMS we don't advise our partners to invest in a particular crop because of the present value it commands in terms of price but we do so making them to understand the future benefit and guarantee returns of investment such crop commands if done the right way .Apparently the recent hike in the prices of oil palm value chain of product is only due to the scarcity of the product and in the mean time the price will fall when supply of palm oil and it's value chain of product exceeds demand which shall be attributed to commercial harvest that will start by March till May 2025 .

Oil palm plantation farming is a long term plantation business that will test your patience as a newbie farmer or investor because for you to make any TANGIBLE harvest it will take you 5 years of hard work and financial investment .I understand that your palm tree may start to bear fruits in year 3 but whatever you are harvesting during this stage of the plant development is insignificant in terms of yield hence commercial harvesting takes more than 4 years and at this time the farm owner can start to prepare to procure equipment to add value to their harvest .

At KKFARMS we strongly advocate that people should not invest in oil palm farming because of the recent increase in the price of oil palm value chain of product and do not invest because someone said you start making returns on investment in year 3. The real issues with oil palm farming are less talk about by new investors and their oil palm project managers and for this reason I see imminent challenges that could pose very serious business risk as people continue to buy lands to set up their oil palm plantation farms without attending to the real issues affecting oil palm farming in Nigeria .

The real issues with oil palm farming in Nigeria are numerous and ranges from acquisition of farmlands ,seedlings procurement and other farm input and general management of the farm .Ask yourself as a newbie farmer if you can afford to buy NIFOR seedlings at the rate of 2,500 naira per one ,I know majority of you are not ready for this and the seedlings being advertised to you online and sold at the rate of 500 naira are you sure is the right tenera plant you should put your money into and are you even aware that we have first generation of hybrid tenera F1 and second generation of tenera F2 ? Out of ignorance and seeking for cheap seedlings some investors may even land themselves into buying F2 or F3 tenera .The minimum seedlings requirement per acre are 60 plant and at NIFOR rate of 2500 per seedlings you will require 150,000 naira to plant an acre and as newbie farmer you are looking at starting your farm with 10 to 20 acres ,as far as seedlings is concern you can see that oil palm farming is very capital intensive so what other alternative do you have to source your seedlings without compromising the quality should be the real issue in oil palm farming in Nigeria .

Another real issue in oil palm farming is who you want to employ to set up your farm and manage it or do you just want to set up an oil palm farm and continue to manage the farm depending on internet informations?.Oil palm farming require you to be hands-on and as a result of this you will need to employ the services of an experience farmer or technical know- how who will not only set up your farm but will continue to manage it year in year out .

There are a lot of issues with oil palm farming that we may not be able to discuss and proffer solution on this page .Issues such as at what time you should not plant your palm trees to avoid high mortalities during dry season like this and issues such as how to prepare your farm against fire out break that is presently happening in some few farms during dry season like this .what about issues related to farmland acquisition in Nigeria ?

My candid advise to every new farmer is to look beyond the present value this industry command and look beyond making money in 3 to 4 years terms .Try to ask questions from reliable farmer and focus on the long term sustainable development of your farm by finding solutions to the real issues affecting oil palm farming in Nigeria .

Do not also forget that KKFARMS is an oil palm farming entity with years of experience .Our projects farms span across many south west states like Ogun,Osun and and Oyo state and we also have oil palm and cashew project farms in Kwara state .Our team of plantation farm managers are always ready to work with you .

AgricultureReasons Why You Should Incorporate Oil Palm Farming In Your Agric Project In 202 by Karbswell(op): 8:28am On Feb 25, 2025
REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD INCORPORATE OIL PALM FARMING IN YOUR AGRIC PROJECT IN 2025 BY KKFARMS

Dear would be farmer ,your next investment plan for the year 2025 farming season should be setting up an oil palm plantation farm .The good thing is that you can still plant the conventional food crops like maize and cassava that we are all used to but you need to incorporate oil palm plantation farming in your list of food crops to be planted next year ,the reasons are not farfetched ;

Our farmers have suffered enough from drought in raining season that wipe away their farms and investment year in year out .It becomes worse this year when around July to August drought occurred for more than 40 days in some farming communities in Nigeria and other part of African countries ,the implication of this is that by by year 2025 prices of food will no longer be affordable to average Nigerians and the most painful thing is that the African countries where food are usually imported into Nigeria also suffered same tragedy .

Having spent huge amount of money to buy the farmland ,clearing and purchase of farm input to plant the conventional crops only for rain to seize which leads to loss of crops and investment wiped away ,then it becomes pertinent to plant a drought tolerant cash crop such as oil palm tree so that all your efforts and investment will not be 100 percent loss .The oil palm tree planted in the farmland will be the reason why you may still remain a farmer because this crop within 3 to 4 years if well managed is capable of creating a long term generational wealth for you and your family .

Apart from being a drought tolerant plant which is my major motivation for this article oil palm farming also offers a little capital start up with less than 500k to set up an acre and maintain it for the next 3 years to 4 years excluding cost of procuring farmland and it has potential to generate revenue of more than a million naira per acre annually at full maturity provided all farming guideline and good agronomic practice are maintained .This projected revenue which is subject to increase with inflation is excluding sales of palm kernel which also generate more revenue to the farmer .

Another reason why as a newbie farmer you needs to consider oil palm farming is the stability in the prices of its end product such as palm oil and vegetable oil however we must not discredit the fact that there are period of slightly fluctuation in prices depending on harvest season and off harvest season .This fact enable you as a farmer to predict your income and expenditure in oil palm farming thereby enabling you to always plan ahead .The case is different with short terms crop mostly cassava .To most of of that planted cassava this year we have prepare our minds that the current selling price of 100k to 150k per tonnage price may be less than 100k per ton next year harvest season due to mass planting carried out this year across the country .There is a lot of money to be made in oil palm farming and there are lot of job creation in this aspect of farming but you need knowledge and an experience farmer to work that's why KKFARMS is always available to work with you in year 2025

According to Eruobodo Eruobodo People will tell you there's Money to be made in; Agriculture, Property, Transport, Manufacturing, Trading, etc. This is true!
However there are two additional information about this assertion you must also know. First is that, if there's Money to be made in any Venture, therein lies Losses too!
Second, to ensure what you make is Money and not Losses, you need a large dose of; Knowledge, Grit, and Luck.

AgricultureThe Real Issues With Oil Palm Farming In Nigeria by Karbswell(op): 6:54am On Feb 06, 2025

Our team can also partner with you to secure farmlands in Osun at the rate of 120k per acre and 300k per acre in ijebu igbo

AgricultureHow You Can Use My Fertiliser Application Schedule To Improve Your Oil Palm Yiel by Karbswell(op): 8:17am On Jan 17, 2025
Your oil palm plantation is 4 years old or may even be above age 4 since planting but annual yield interms of fresh fruits bunches FFB is very low and nothing to write home about ,this may lead to loss of interest in continuing to invest in that plantation and subsequent neglect of the entire farm .If you are 💯 certain that you planted Original tenera seeds then your problem is certainly lack of adequate fertilisation. We have seen some cases of oil palm farm owners whom after year 1 of planting and fertilising ,they neglect fertiliser application throughout the following years and by year 4 the farmland becomes infertile hence their annual FFB yield drops significantly and loss becomes iminent .This is the present situation of many oil palm farms in Nigeria and if your farm falls into this category ,this fertilization schedule programme I prepared below will help you to improve production in your farm this year and if this does not work that means you planted the wrong seedlings and you may need to go back to the start ;

FERTILIZER APPLICATION IN OIL PALM FARMING AND IT'S EFFECT ON ANNUAL YIELD BY KKFARMS

Prepared by ABDULKARIM KABIR AYINDE KK FARMS
07062053560

Oil palm tree is an heavy feeder plant that require balance ratio of the major soil nutrient such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium and also minor nutrient such as boron and magnesium for maximum fruits production.Oil palm tree can still bear fruits provided there is adequate rainfall and weeding but the farmer that is business oriented and have great focus to increase annual yield will understand that fertiliser application at different stages of the plants development is critical to increasing annual palm fruits yield which in turns increase profitability .

This article will also focus on types of fertilizer, mode of application, period of application and stages of fertilizer application in oil palm farming .

Year 0 - 1 ( NURSERY STAGE )

At this stage the plants ( sprouted nut )are planted in polythene nylon and they require very little amount of fertilizer for root development which leads to rapid growth at the nursery .Too much of fertiliser most especially inorganic at this stage could kill the plant and the farmer must be careful to apply the fertiliser at 15 gram per seedling and 2 inches away from the young seedling .this should be done 2 month after germination and to be repeated every 30 days for the next 8 months or 1 year at the nursery . NPK 15:15:15 or 20:10:10 is recommended at this stage

Year 1 - 4 ( VEGETATIVE GROWTH STAGE)

Year 1 to 4 the palm seedlings are transplanted to the main farm and during this period they undergo vegetative growth .During these period the palm tree produce no fruits till year 3 and as a result nitrogen is required to boost vegetative growth of the plants hence the farmer should focus on applying Urea since it is 100% nitrogen only or fertiliser with higher amount of nitrogen like NPK 20:10:10. this is apply twice in a year at the beginning of the raining season between May/ June and towards the end of rain season around September/ October at 150 to 200 gram per plant .The farmer must apply it 5 inches or 1ft away from the base of the plant depending on size of the plant .Mistake must not be made to apply it direct to the plants so not to burn the young plant which could lead to death .The farmer must understand that application of fertiliser during the vegetative growth stage is done to enhance the production of more green leaves / palm fronds and also to accelerate the growth of the plants to produce fruits within the benchmark period of 3 to 4 years old .A good sign of palm tree well fertilize will show very green color while lack of it will show yellowish color .

Year 4 and above ( FRUIT PRODUCTION STAGE )

This is the stage the oil palm trees start to bear flowers to produce fruits and inorder to attain maximum fruits yield the farmer must increase fertiliser application per tree .Our farmers in Nigeria usually abandoned application of fertiliser to the their palm trees since they know the palm tree will produce fruits naturally but in contrast the yield are usually low when fertiliser are not being applied annually at this stage .Countries like Indonesia and Malaysia who with the former being the largest producer of oil palm have already develop a reliable fertilization programme on their oil palm plantation and this is even one of the major reasons why their annual palm oil production is higher than what we produce in Nigeria and other African countries .

The annual fertiliser requirement per flowering tree is between 800 gram to 1kg of NPK 15:15:15 which would be split into two and applied at the beginning of the rain season around May/june and towards the end of rain season in September and October in anticipation of commercial harvest which commence from January to June every year . The palm tree also require the annual application of muriate of potash to boost root development which aids fruit production and increase fruits oil content .

AgricultureOil Palm Farming Becoming One Of The Most Profitable Cash Crops In 2025 by Karbswell(op): 4:44pm On Dec 29, 2024
Are you an agric enthusiast and you are deliberating on which aspect of agric you should invest your money in 2025.

Let me help you to identify oil palm plantation as one of the most lucrative venture in agric with very low risk factor that can create a generational wealth for you as private business owner ,and cooperate organisations that choose to also invest in agriculture .

Please note this require alot of patience and 3 to 4 years of diligent work and investment before it starts yielding returns on investment for many decades for as long as the farm is being mentained .If you base in abroad and you are deliberating on which aspect of agribusiness you can invest your money in Nigeria this business is also for you .

It will also require factory set up to process fresh fruits bunches harvested from the farm into palm oil and palm kernel oil which the company can sell both locally and internationally .

Oil palm farming as been the bedrock of our economy for many years back but the discovery of crude oil as made us to neglect this farming business hence making Nigeria a mono economy nation .Our neglect of this venture as brought us where we are today and the implication is steering us at the face .it is now time to go back to the farm to claim our position as major producer and exporter of refined palm oil and palm kernel oil .

WHY YOU SHOULD CONSIDER OIL PALM PLANTATION AS AN INVESTMENT AND RETIREMENT PLAN ?

The risk factor involve is very low when compared to other aspect of agriculture and even other businesses in the cities .it is a very rugged plants that can survive for many decades .the only identifiable risk associated with an oil palm plantation is fire outbreak .to prevent this one will need to remove weed on the entire plantation as soon the rainfall ends for the year .

It create opportunity to invest in land banking in the rural area which would appreciate as the oil palm tree appreciates on yearly basis.when you purchase farmland let's say in our farm settlement at the rate of 200k to 250k per acre (8 plots ) in ASA LG of kwara state and we partner with you to set up an oil palm plantation on it ,this would be a multiple investment because the value of the farmland would appreciate and at the same time the value of the oil palm tree would also continue to appreciate .this is the reason why we referred to this agric investment as a low risk business opportunity that create a multiple streams of income through sales of palm oil and palm kernel oil and increasing your wealth as the farmland appreciate in the future .

It require one time planting .the farmer does not need to till the land Every year to replant an oil palm tree except he wants to expand by acquiring more lands .

It allows intercropping with crops such as 🌽 maize ,soybean, groundnut ,cassava etc that if you have the extra funds and labour to do the work .You can make more money from this short term crops before your oil palm plantation attains full maturity to bear fruits .

Creation of generational wealth .having an oil palm plantation is like printing your own money year in year out .An oil palm plantation well mentained could create a generation wealth for the farmer and his family for many decades .

As cost of living increases and inflation continue to push up the prices of commodity ,the price of palm oil and palm kernel oil follow similar trend .This provide a form of reward system to the farmer and give him a leverage to meet his family demand and responsibility as the economy bites hard .

Proven as retirement package .during your active days of work and service year when you are able to use some proceed of your work to purchase farmland and set up few acres of oil palm plantation this could serve as a retirement package for you and a sustainable way to live a good life after retirement .Both the farmland and palm trees can serve as inheritance to your children because palm trees are known to outlive the owner .

A better way of diversification .Cooperate organisation and private business owner could also own an oil palm plantation as a means of diversification .Companies that are currently struggling due to increase in cost of production and companies that are striving and doing well can also diversify into oil palm plantation and within 3 to 4 years it can create another stream of income to the company or private business owner . Mentaining an oil palm plantation in the rural side is relatively cheaper than running a company which comes with payment of salaries, taxes, royalties, electricity and other unforeseen contingencies .

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST TO PURCHASE AN ACRE OF FARMLAND AND SET UP AN OIL PALM PLANTATION

Let's use our farm settlement in ASA LG of kwara state as a case study

To purchase farmland, clearing ,procure planting materials and set up the plantation including mentainance of the farm within the first 3 to 4 years it will cost between 700k to 800k per acre.farmland purchase only is around 200k to 250k but if you have farmland in your village or anywhere you not need to spend up to this amount we quoted .we can travel to your village or anywhere in Nigeria to set up your plantation base on contract .please note that you are not required to cough out the total cost of farming at a time but it would be spread over the period of 3 to 4 years .if cost of production and labour is cheaper at your farm location your cost of farming may not be up to the amount quoted per acre .You are required to spend less if labour is cheap at your farm settlement .

POTENTIAL YIELD / PROFITABILITY PER ACRE

Between the first 4 to 6 years an acre of improved hybrid oil palm plantation is capable of yielding between 1000 to 1,500 litres of oil per acre and the yield will continue to increase as the plants ages year in year out ,this exclude revenue to be generated from the sales of palm kernel and other bye product .

Palm oil is presently sold for 1,500 naira per litre and if we lower our yield expectation to around 800 or 1000 litres per acre during the early productive stages this shows that the farmer is capable of making over 1million naira from an acre of oil palm annually however the good news is the yield of palm tree will continue to increase as the plant ages annually and under good agronomic practice this may continue for the next 20 to 30 years before the owner can even think about eradicating the trees due to difficulty in Harvesting .

You should also note that kkfarms and co. is a registered agric firm base in Nigeria .we do not run a Ponzi scheme and we will not collect money from anyone to run an investment package .We are strictly into Crop contract farming and plantation farm set up .

# Sales of improved hybrid tenera or supergene oil palm seedlings for planting
# Farm set up and farm consultation

An acre of well planned oil palm plantation can be more productive and profitable than a big plantation with no adequate farm mentainance .The 10 acres proposal on oil palm plantation You read in my previous post has a lot of financial implication hence you might need to start with one or two acres and continue to develop the rest of the farm as you progress and before you know the first acres you planted within 3 years would have start bearing fruits which could provide finance to develop the entire plantation .Patience and perseverance is all you need .

An acre of oil palm plantation under good agronomic practice within year 3 to 5 is capable of producing between 1000 to 1500 litres of palm oil excluding palm kernel oil and palm kernel cake which are additional products that generate revenue .Considering the price obtainable in the market for palm oil a litre is sold around around 1000 to 1,500 naira ,for a farmer that is able to achieve 1000 to 1500 litres of fresh palm oil will generate revenue of 1million to 1.5million annually from an acre of oil palm plantation ,meanwhile the oil yield per acre will continue to increase towards 2,000 litres as the oil palm tree continue to grow year in year out .

You can become the next generational of farmer that will supply our local market with palm oil and palm kernel oil and if you are bless enough to set up a big plantation you can sell your product to companies that require palm oil and palm kernel oil such as cosmetics ,food industry ,pharmaceuticals and engine lubricant companies .these are few of the industries that demands palm tree base product to run their businesses and as a farmer who is considering to invest in oil palm farming you have a role to play .what other low risk agribusiness do you need to consider if not oil palm tree that can create a generational wealth and retirement plan for you ?

AgricultureWeed Management And Mulching In Oil Palm Plantation by Karbswell(op): 9:59am On Nov 29, 2024
Weeds help to preserve the quality of the soil and protect the soil living organisms ...they should not be allow to compete with our crop plants and at the same time they should not be totally eradicated ..absence of weeds in a farmers farm means the soil as loose it's natural fertility and is an indication of poor harvest that is waiting to happen in the future.Best way to mentain the quality of your soil is to reduce the quantity of herbicide used to kill weeds by mentaining some level of weeds in the farm .....KKFARMS

Do not forget to provide mulch using dry leaves for your palm trees planted towards tail end of the raining season so as to preserve the little moisture available at the base of the plant to keep them hydrated against dry season and do well to contact KKFARMS for your oil palm plantation project in the forth coming planting season 2025 .Our services are top notch and you will be glad working with us ...

AgricultureThe Performance Of Major Oil Palm Farms In Nigeria For Year 2024 by Karbswell(op): 6:27pm On Nov 22, 2024
Year 2024 as been pose a lot of serious business challenges which as caused many small and big companies to fold up and reduced their scale of production ,this can be attributed to the recent floatation of naira and devaluation of our local currencies and his single policy as wiped away the gains of major companies .

On the contrary ,major oil palm companies in Nigeria such as Presco and okomu declared billions of naira in profit in the first quarter and second quarter of this year due to sudden increase in the price of refined vegetable oil and palm oil .they were able to achieve this while companies in other sectors were declaring loss due to floatation of naira which as wipe away the gains of many companies .. I do not know about GB palm plantation but I am optimistic that the man will also make good returns this year knowing fully well that is counterpart companies make huge returns .

According to Nairametric Presco recorded the highest revenue at N88 billion in the first half of 2024, representing an 83% year-over-year increase from N48 billion in the previous year. Okomu Oil also saw a substantial revenue increase, with an 84% year-over-year growth, rising from N40 billion in 2023 to N75 billion in 2024.The reasons for this success recorded by these big companies is far fetched ; it is only oil palm tree that offers 3 varieties of product such as palm oil ,palm kernel oil and PKC ,this 3 derivative product from a single tree are known to have high local and international market value and when you consider the present exchange rate then you will realize any company or individual that has oil palm plantation that runs into thousands of hectares will definitely be declaring such tremendous profit amidst present economic downfall of many companies in other sectors .

As an individual this is the right to key into this projects either on a small scale or large you still have a role to play as the demand for palm oil and vegetable oil will continue to increase year in year out considering the rate of nigerians populations growth and world demand for edible oil .Year 2025 farming season is fast approaching and this is the right time to procure a farmland and start your oil palm farming journey .

KKFARMS as been contracted to start 10 acres oil palm farm in Iwo Osun state in 2025 with potential to expand acreage in subsequent years and in the next 3 to 4 years we will be glad to announce to you when we start to harvest from this region .We are also in contract to set up and manage oil palm farms across states in southwest and north central .

AgricultureReasons Why You Should Incorporate Oil Palm Farming In Your Agric Project In 202 by Karbswell(op): 10:14am On Nov 07, 2024
REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD INCORPORATE OIL PALM FARMING IN YOUR AGRIC PROJECT IN 2025 BY KKFARMS

Dear would be farmer ,your next investment plan for the year 2025 farming season should be setting up an oil palm plantation farm .The good thing is that you can still plant the conventional food crops like maize and cassava that we are all used to but you need to incorporate oil palm plantation farming in your list of food crops to be planted next year ,the reasons are not farfetched ;

Second, to ensure what you make is Money and not Losses, you need a large dose of; Knowledge, Grit, and Luck.

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING OIL PALM PLANTATION BY KKFARMS

Knowing quite well that oil palm plantation is a long term project that will not yield any returns during the first and perhaps in the third year of it's establishment which is characterized by huge financial investment and labour in the case of large plantation .As a farmer you need to ask yourself why you want to invest in a long term perennial crop like oil palm plantation .If the reason is to make immediate return then oil palm plantation is not for you . We have seen cases of farmers and cooperate organisation that we set up oil palm plantation for but abandoned it during the second and third year thereby rendering the project unproductive and lost of investment .Asian countries who came to Nigeria in 60th and 70th to obtain our local seeds dura and pisifera which they improved the quality to produce the hybrid seeds have never relent in their efforts to improve the standard of their farm management and setting up more oil palm plantation which to day makes them the largest producer and net exporter of refined palm oil .

You have to also know that in oil palm farming we have two grades of tenera seedlings available for planting which are F1 seedlings and F2 seedlings. If you are working to set up a commercial oil palm farm the only grade of seedlings you plant is tenera F1 which is referred to as the first generation of seed obtained primarily from the cross breed of two distinc parent plant called dura and pisifera .The planting of F1 seedlings coupled with good agronomic practice for 3 to 4 years is what can only produce yield that covers your farm expenses and give you return on investment upon harvest year in year out .The F1 seedlings for your peace of mind can be obtained direct from NIFOR though at a very higher cost or can as well be bought from any renowned company or individual with track records of producing F1 seedlings in Nigeria .We also have individual farmers who procure sprouted nut from NIFOR that you can buy from them but make sure they show you an invoice from NIFOR to prove to you that they procure their sprouted but from NIFOR .Please take of this .It is also pertinent to note that NIFOR have increased the price of their sprouted nut this year from from 200 naira to 500 naira per sprout and the implication of this is that you will not get to buy F1 tenera for less than 1000 or 1200 naira next year from individual farmers who nurses F1 seedlings and if you are buying direct from NIFOR it may cost you more than 3,000 per seedling .We must also admit that there are private owned companies in Nigeria that also produced F1 tenera and sell at a price lesser than NIFOR such as PRESCO AND OKOMU GB etc .Till date I do not know why NIFOR as a government owned institution cannot subsidised price of their F1 seedling thereby leaving the average Nigeria farmer with no choice but to plant F2 seedlings which in most cases may yield lesser oil and some of the plant may turn steril. In simple language F2 seedlings is second generation of seed which is harvested from existing Tenera farm which nursed and replanted .Their productivity is usually low when compared to F1 seedlings.Unless we are planting the best grade of tenera F1 I am sorry to say we cannot compete with other countries like Indonesia and Malaysia who are the largest producer of palm oil in the world .Do you even know most supergene we plant in Nigeria are F2 because very few people import F1 super gene ?

LETS LOOK AT WHAT CATEGORY OF PEOPLE CAN CULTIVATE OIL PALM PLANTATION

The category of people that can cultivate oil palm tree are people that have farmlands at the rural side .having farmland either purchased or inherited will give you a leverage to grow oil palm tree but that is not enough .Many farmers or would- be- farmers from the cities always assumed that once you have hectares of farmland and funds you can go into oil palm farming .For you to become successful in oil palm farming you need to have patience, perseverance and most importantly you have to be very hardworking if not you will be forced to abandoned the plantation project half way .It is very hard to loose money growing oil palm tree but the aspect of waiting for 3 to 4 years to start making returns on investment is where many farmers and investors failed .There are many successful and productive oil palm plantation and there are still many failed and unproductive oil palm plantation in Nigeria ,what differentiate the two is not lack of funds but lack of patience that one need to endure before the plant start fruiting .

If you have patiently read this post ,you should know by now whether you are worthy to start an oil palm plantation or not .Agriculture is time bound and oil palm farming is a game of patience and hard work .You do not necessarily need to start with 10 acres ,you can start even with few acres or plots ,Learn to start small and grow big and you can be rest assured that oil palm farming will reward you by providing you with sustainable wealth that you and your children can always depend on .

Do you know that 50% of palm oil and vegetable oil we are still consuming in Nigeria is obtained from the local palm trees planted in the early 70th by our great grand parent and the families that owns them are still profiting from them ? .What's now delaying you from establishing this type of project that can sustain you and your family within the next few years ?

AgricultureHow Oil Palm Tree Can Enrich You As A Nigerian Farmer by Karbswell(op): 4:54pm On Oct 18, 2024
When it comes to agricultural productivity ,oil palm tree remain the most productive crop plants and when you compare it to other oil producing plants it still top the list of the most oil yielding plants .infact it remains the only tree that can yield two different type of oil from the same fruits all year round which are fresh palm oil FPO and palm kernel oil PKO.

Except you are doing something wrong at the farm or let me jokingly say your village people are against your success you can hardly loose money in oil palm farming .you have variety of products( palm oil ,palm kernel oil ,palm kernel cake) to produce and sell from the single plants hence it is only mismanagement on the side of the farmer that can lead to loss of investment in oil palm farming .

Within 3 to 4 years a well mentained single tenera oil palm tree can bear 8 fruits bunches which can yield between 15 to 20 litres of palm oil and total of 16 bunches of fruits annually under GOOD AGRONOMIC PRACTICE .therefore if you have 60 productive oil palm tree on an acre you can estimate the litres of oil you will obtained annually .whatever yield you obtained within the plant early years of fruition will increase in subsequent years .

Agriculture is not a rocket science ,it requires having the basic knowledge of what to do ,how to do it and when to do it and if all these are strictly adhere to your oil palm tree will reward you year in year out .

With the level of hardship this economy is facing we need to redirect our focus to producing cash crops which we can sell both locally and internationally so as we can earn more money to reduce the negative effect of inflation we are currently facing .

If you have taken a decision to set up your oil palm plantation you can reach out to kkfarms for a business proposal that will guide you on how to successfully establish your oil palm plantation and provide you with basic cost of every farm operation from year 1 to year 3 .Do not forget we also have viable seedlings available for sale to all farmers for this year's farming season

FERTILIZER APPLICATION IN OIL PALM FARMING AND IT'S EFFECT ON ANNUAL YIELD BY KKFARMS
