I doubt this. FSLC was stopped few years ago when the Basic Schools (Basic 1 to 9) thing started. This new educational system has eliminated what we know as Common Entrance Examination.

So, as at today Ministry of Education has stopped issuing FSLC but all pupils that sat for Common Entrance Examination, that is, those that finish primary school before the Basic school system things are issue FSLC.

Hi. As regards the PFA pin and certificate. For those of us that have not been previously employed. Should we just leave it blank or we need to open a PFA account

Some of the documents need a witness. Can we just use a random person or must it be a bank official?

I hope testimonial will suffice. I graduated in 2007, I was told that the ministry doesn’t issue FSLC from that period. So, the school only issued testimonial

For the corporate passport. Is it compulsory that it’s with suit or just shirt and tie will be okay?

First of all, have you collected it before? If yes, go back to the school for a certified true copy. You may need to go along with affidavit to loss of certificate, police reports and your current passport photographs.

If no, go along with the your passport photograph. Remember to go along with enough money shaa.

And if, the school declared that they don't have your certificate or can give you certified true copy of your certificate, please request for your Testimonial. In fact, request for your testimonial.

Your current passport is compulsory because it must be affix to the certificate/certified true copy and testimonial just as it was affix to Buhari's WAEC Certificate.

Quite a very young age, you still have the time to hunt for top jobs and also target the big four. KPMG GT is still on and you can do well to apply.

UBN is a great place to start a banking career and the work life balance is also great too, but you won't have that time you quoted up there except you want to run your side hustle in the night not at the workplace which runs from 8-5pm with an hour break for lunch.

If you are called by UBN, take up the offer and enjoy the ride, you will get to build up those skills you are lacking, get to build network and working there can/will serve as a platform for bigger offers.

It ain't a hell working in a bank if it is your dream job, it is stressful and demanding but you will enjoy it as long as it is your passion.

So take it up if called and enjoy the ride.

Actually, I have applied to KPMG but have not gotten invitation for assessment test, I've written 2 tests in Deloitte but they've not gotten back to us. Thanks for the reassurance.

Every bank's job has one level of stress of the other, the most important thing is how you manage your time and work smart. Getting 2-3 three hours a day should not the that very difficult if you can manage your time very well. Taking myself as an example, I worked in a department where I have to take up the job of over 5 staff due to downsizing. The job was overwhelming and I could not balance myself in the first 2 years until I review my vision and decided to create time for myself and professional development towards my vision. So today, I have completed many professional courses, further my formal education and still have more time for my family.

All you need to do is to be smart and efficient on your job, such that you have some time within the office time to check out your internet hustle. Get a good phone (high specifications above needed requirements for your hassles) to help in your internet things when in traffic. Seriously, since I came to Lagos, I never drive but use public buses so that I can have more time to further my line of career interest when in traffic. You will be surprised that you may have your 3 hours in the traffic. Remember never to sit close to the car window if you are to chose this option. Try as much as possible to close early, at least, for Union Bank no Supervisor will harass/force you to stay beyond 5pm if your have completed your work for the day but in case you cannot, use the time to your advantage. Just study your line supervisor and work you way around it.

It is good to note that you are a chartered accountant and around 21 years of age. You may not be deployed to finance, audit or related department if eventually you are successful. So I will advise you not to lose focus on your drive or let the "overwhelming workloads" distract you from developing yourself to position yourself for your dream career. So in summary, having a work-life balance depends on you and not the bank as far as Union bank is concerned.

Thank you very much for sharing from your experience. As for the side hustle, it's in the declining phase. Getting into it now will just turn to be a waste.

Choose a back office department where you can work at your own pace.
Examples are INTERNAL CONTROL, REVENUE ASSURANCE, CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS, etc

The idea is to avoid working at the BRANCHES serving customers directly.

Bank job is actually very stressful (though depends on the department) but since you said you are just 21, then I will advise you to still pick up the bank job in case you are called... You will need it to build a network of career relationships that will help you tomorrow... However, make sure you give yourself a target of say "5 years" working in the bank and plan your exit properly otherwise you will end up "wasting" your youthful age enriching others and becoming useless to yourself later in life... Remember that your youthful stage is your useful stage.

If you love banking, and not just doing it because there's no job, you will have fun and excel in it.

Depends on the unit , type(branch or HQ) or location . If its in lagos in marina,there is no where u can get get 2 to 3 hours on a weekday. If its a branch u can rent a house nearby

For those asking for the side hustle. I would have loved to put you guys through. But sadly, the method is dying. It has reached its peak and is now falling. It peaked around May of this year when I was making about $2000+ monthly. Now, I barely make 400. If you guys start now, you’ll be wasting your money
I’m looking at testing new waters for now. But that’s uncertain and you’ll need to invest at least 200-500$ which is very much for beginners

I just finished my NYSC this October, I graduated with a 2.1 and I'm also a chartered Accountant. I'm quite young as I'm just 21. I have been applying to different openings since my service year ended. However, I've reached the last stage with only just the bank with 'Stallion logo. I'm optimistic that I'll be called for Medicals. The big Four have largely not started recruitment.
The main thing is that I'm concerned about the work-life balance. I've a side hustle on the internet that makes me money upwards of 100k a month, but I need like 2-3 hrs a day on it. Also, my motivation to work is to build up my networking, communication and interpersonal skills as I'm quite lacking in those areas.
