You're taking my description too literally.

What I mean Tier 1 in a Nigerian context is, the best Tactical Team Nigeria has to offer.

Also I don't really agree with your classification of a Tier 1 Team, except you have been on missions with these teams, you can't definitely say they are incapable of running complex missions.

The USA has the best supported and Trained teams but we regularly see that they go on failed missions.

I mean only recently we got to know of their failed operation in North Korea.

A couple of years ago French Special forces were clapped hard in Somalia during a failed rescue mission.

Then their are operations like Operation Spiderweb carried out by Security Services of Ukraine.

So what and who defines a tier 1 team.

Ukraine doesn't have a Tier 1 Team on paper, but they regularly carry out Tier 1 missions.

So what and who defines what a Tier 1 Team is?

In my opinion the classification Tier 1 is determined by the complex missions a team can undertake.

In this context, Nigeria's Tier 1 Team is DSS STATT.
Does this unit have the capability to infiltrate a neighbouring country, stir civil unrest, orchestrate a coup, insert a puppet regime and exfil undetected?
Do they have the capability to conduct a hostage rescue in any other AOR outside of ECOWAS in 36-72 hour notice?
Instead of roleplaying scenarios, this unit's so called tier 1 capability should be put to better use at the regional front in West Africa with the ever growing reach of armed groups.

Research the October 2020 hostage rescue of an American citizen in Nigeria by DEVGRU and familiarize yourself with what it truly means to run and support a tier 1 unit mission before you continue on this chest thumping parade.

Tier 1 status is earned from tactical and battlefield experience, tough lessons learnt from losses in realtime. That's why, for all their failed missions, the US military will continue to maintain dominance over China's ; nothing beats real life experience when it comes to war.

And there is nothing like Nigeria's version of tier 1, there is only a universal standard, which this particular unit is no where close to attaining.

The Ukrainians may run tier 1 missions, but these are mostly based on Western Intelligence, Western provided equipment, training and support, which could easily serve as the perfect cover for American operatives to conduct reconnaissance, assault and credit the Ukrainians, with plausible deniability.

Nigerian Tier 1 Operators

DSS STATT conduct simulation exercise in Abuja
Congratulations to Nigeria on the very well equipped operators, but I'll have to correct you on the use of the term "tier 1".
That term is very loosely thrown around in recent times, and in this scenario is inaccurate.
Tier 1 teams achieve the status not from equipment, but training and the missions they run. There is no tier 1 team on the continent, and very few even amongst the world's strongest militaries.
In the US, with the most publicized tier 1 ODA's, only DELTA and DEVGRU attain that status, and there is no military on the continent capable of providing the support a tier 1 team would need to run a mission.

Tinfoil:
Your naive.

This proves nothing. The country has outdated equipment, has a culture of theft of public resources, and doesn't produce its own munitions. Even the locally produced m4s are defective because they are prone to overheating
Do you have proof of the claims you've made? I will agree with the part on corruption and outdated equipment, but compared to regional and continental militaries, Kenya punches well above it's weight. Kenya does produce part of its own munitions at the Kenya Ordinance Factory in Eldoret and spare parts for equipment at the Numerical Machining Complex and Kenya Army Corps of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.

You have not provided any proof to substantiate your claim on rifles overheating, and that in itself isn't a problem. Barrels in rifles are changed periodically during use due to heat stress, so please provide proof where overheating in Kenyan made rifles has led to suboptimal accuracy.

For the point you're trying to drive across, release the pedal on emotions, switch gears into due diligence, and go throttle to the metal on facts. Only then will you earn a further reply from this end. Any attempt at ragebait will be met with the contempt it deserves.

Stargate254:
You might be 90% accurate on the Q1 2024 estimate.
Kenya's leading telco has been testing 5G network from this year. Existing smartphons in the country were not 5G capable, only new buyers are getting 5G enabled smartphones, so 2023 will be the year most people will switch... Currently only Nairobi and Mombasa residents with 5G enabled devices can tell us if they occasionally get 5G connection speeds while safaricom is still on the testing phase as we await national rollout in FY 2023-2024
Answers it perfectly

There is this company within the 40th Ranger strike force that wears a different camo from the rest.( Ranger D company)
They receive some sort of foreign training and funding.
Never quite figured out what unit use this camo in either the Kenyan military or police..what I do know is that all specialized units within the KDF that will eventually form the KDF JSOC (Currently happening) are developing/adopting different camo for the multiple environment realities they deploy in

P. S ; Expect a Kenyan version of DELTA very soon. 30TH Special Forces is currently the KDF's only Tier 1 unit modelled after the SAS. There has been an ever increasing upward trajectory in support to the KDF Rangers by the American government/military hence the creation of a Tier 1 unit mentored and modelled after American Green Berets & DELTA in the KDF. This is to ease the need for American boots on ground in the conflict prone Horn of Africa as per AFRICOM and CJTF-HOA's new mantra; TO WORK BY, WITH and THROUGH OUR AFRICAN PARTNERS!
