The Ekiti State government says it would in the
next few days refund money over-deducted
from the salaries of workers for car, housing
and computer loans.
This followed the submission of the report by a
committee set up by the State Governor,
Ayodele Fayose, which looked into the matter.
Speaking on radio and television in Ado-Ekiti
Tuesday, Governor Ayo Fayose also promised
that the projects embarked upon by his
administration would be completed as
scheduled.
The governor said teachers, whose salaries were
over-deducted fell into those under the
Teaching Service Commission and the State
Universal Basic Education Board.
While giving the assurance that the money
would be refunded shortly, the governor said
steps had been taken to prevent a recurrence in
the future.
On projects such as the flyover, the new Ojaba
Market and the extension of the dualisation of
the Ado-Ikere Road, Mr. Fayose said they would
be completed on time.
He said the projects being undertaken were not
misplaced, saying that certain facilities that
should ordinarily make a state capital or local
government headquarter look its worth were
lacking in Ekiti State.
Mr. Fayose explained that he deliberately
embarked on such projects to create long lasting
legacies that would outlive him after his tenure
of office.
“Only a foolish leader or politician will be
working for the purpose of winning election
alone but the wise one will do those things that
will take care of the future,” Mr. Fayose said.
”The late Chief Obafemi Awolowo is still being
remembered for what he did. The dualisation of
roads in Efon, Ikole and other places is being
done despite the paucity of funds. We need a
leader who has the vision and won’t be bogged
down by paucity of funds or other hindrances. I
have taken it to personally impact on people’s
lives positively. We need to put the people
first,” he said.
The governor enjoined the state workers, in
their capacity as the engine room of
government, to rally round his administration
to deliver on its promises. |
It was a morning of surprise for residents of
Osin-Ekiti in Ikole Local Government of Ekiti
State on Friday as a black nanny goat gave
birth to a kid goat with two heads.
Residents of the sleepy town of Ekiti said the
strange birth was the first ever in the history
of the town which has existed for more than
50 years.
According to witnesses, the nanny goat which
belongs to and Octogenarian identified simply
as Mrs. Ola laboured for more than 24 hours
without any success before veterinary
doctors were invited for an emergency
rescue of the goat which was already
exhausted.
“It took the vet team more than two hours to
successfully remove the two-headed
creature from its mother,” an eyewitness
said.
Many residents who witnessed the strange
birth declined to speak, fearing that the
occurrence has ominous undertone.
A middle-aged resident who spoke under the
condition of anonymity confirmed that it was
the first time he would hear of such
occurrence since he started living in the
environment.
“If it were those days of the past, the owner
would be forced to visit the palace to say her
own side of the story of how she came about
the goat and the kid,” the resident said.
“It would be termed ‘fetish and chronic use
of juju’ and the owner might even be sent into
exile if proper explanation was not given.”
Another resident who also begged to remain
anonymous held that a goat with two
heads was the handiwork of evil-doers,
testing their evil powers through this channel.
“It is not ordinary. God doesn’t make
mistakes. Strange things are happening
these days and I think the world is coming to
an end like the Holy book said,” the resident
said.
However, Dr. Abdulrasheed Shuaib, the
veterinary doctor who led the team that
eventually saved the goat from the strenuous
strange birth said it was a mere mistake in
nature.
The doctor who works at Temmy Vet, Oye-
Ekiti explained that though he hasn’t seen
such an incident physically before this one, it
wasn’t a new thing.
He said, “Since issues like that happen in
humans in the form of Siamese twins and
many other congenital abnormalities. It
simply means that during fertilization − the
union of the male sperm and female ovum −
forming a zygote, the zygote was supposed
to completely split to give rise to two
separate fetuses. Incomplete splitting of the
zygote must have resulted in this and
instead of two distinct fetuses, here we are
with a kid with two heads.”
He said such births would have been easily
carried out by surgery.
“Cases like this are usually successfully
done only by surgery (Caesarian section) but
somehow, miraculously, we were able to
manipulate by traction and get the foetus
through the birth canal,” he said.
“It was a nice experience encountering such
though some were beginning to lose hope on
the survivability of both dam (nanny goat) and
kid through the manual method. I told them
we have to get it carefully and professionally
done, since surgery should be our last
alternative.”
Under close gross examination, the baby-
goat had two separate heads joined at the
neck region, two forelimbs and two hind-
limbs. Each head carried two eyes, a nose, a
mouth, a tongue and a pair of eyes. Despite
the fact that the kid was quickly disposed of,
the news has spread around the town.
Dr. Abdulrasheed added that the strange birth
could have been caused by series of
environmental factors and what the goat has
consumed during the gestation period like
chemicals, smoke or haphazard grazing on
unwholesome plants.

Why I Didn’t abandon Ex-President Goodluck
Jonathan – Fayose
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayo Fayose, has
declared that his strong belief in the will of God
and total loyalty to one’s principal in politics
made him not to abandon Ex-President
Goodluck Jonathan after losing the 2015
presidential poll.
President Muhammadu Buhari of the All
Progressives Congress defeated Jonathan in the
keenly contested presidential poll, making him
the first incumbent president to have ever been
defeated in Nigeria’s history.
Fayose also said his strong faith in God and
experience in politics were some of the things
that kept him going to be able to survive the
onslaught against him and managed the
turbulent and traumatic political happenings in
Ekiti in last one year.
Speaking in Ado-Ekiti at a state dinner
organised to mark the first year of his second
term in office weekend , Fayose said : “When I
believe in a cause and trust somebody as my
leader, I don’t show disloyalty. |
The Governor went on a meeting with the
stakeholders in his office yesterday evening, and
below are his words after the meeting.
I went to a meeting just now with the
stakeholders, everybody that benefits from
the allocation,(Representatives of)
university, college of Education, civil
servants…everybody(they are still in the
meeting now), I read the allocation to them
(like I do to Ekiti people on the radio and
television), I give them the allocation paper,
go and share it, whatever you share,
whatever is for the government house and
protocol, to maintain this, to put on light in
the government house, send it to us.
It is my job as governor to say I draw this allocation, most states today, why
we have those problems is because the Governor comes first, the people comes
last, but here the people comes first, the Governor comes last.
So, they have the paper for the allocation issued on Friday, it’s with them,
whatever they conclude, whenever they finish, i’ll be here waiting for them
and whatever they direct is what i will do.

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has
said his government was destroying the legacies
of huge debt, unpaid salaries, white elephant
projects, bad governance and corruption left
behind by the All Progressives Congress
government of Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
Fayose said never again shall Ekiti State be
governed by those who will borrow billions of
naira to plant flowers and create comfort for
themselves alone.
Governor Fayose, who was reacting to Fayemi’s
interview in some newspapers in which he said
that “his legacy was being destroyed”, said no
responsible government will sustain a legacy of
over N86 billion debt that was incurred on
projects with no direct bearing on the welfare of
the people.
In a statement issued on Thursday by his Special
Assistant on Public Communications and New
Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said it
was necessary for Fayemi’s negative legacies to
be destroyed, adding: “Even in the APC, his
legacy of betrayal of Senator Bola Tinubu, the
man who made him governor, is being
destroyed.”
He added: “Today, Fayemi has been ostracized
by those who assisted him to Office because he
has betrayed all of them, including Tinubu.
“Does he then wants us to sustain the legacy of
serial betrayal of his benefactors?
“If he served Ekiti and its people well, why was
it that he was roundly defeated in all the 16
local councils in the State in the June 21, 2014
governorship election and his party was also
defeated 16-0 in the Presidential, National
Assembly and House of Assembly elections?
“Even his own party men described his electoral
defeat as the worst in Nigeria.”
The governor, who said it was shameful that
Fayemi, who left two months’ salary and four
months cooperative and unions deductions
from workers salary, as well as pensioners
pensions and gratuities unpaid could be talking
about his legacies being destroyed.
Fayose said: “Did Fayemi leave behind any
positive legacy in Ekiti?
“When Fayemi became governor, he choose to
close down two universities established by the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government of
Segun Oni and abandoned the Oba Adejugbe
General Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, claiming that the
State could not fund more than one university.
“The same Fayemi, who said Ekiti had no money
to fund more than one university preferred to
take N25 billion bond to plant flowers that
never germinated up till now and build a new
governor’s lodge, civic centre, pavilion and
execute other irrelevant projects.
“Furniture alone, in the N3.3bn governor’s
lodge that he built for himself and his wife cost
N604.9 million and Fayemi wants such legacy of
profligacy to be sustained in Ekiti? We are sorry
to tell him that we won’t sustain such legacy of
waste.
“Even vehicles bought for traditional rulers and
political appointees, his government did not pay
and uncompleted Oba Adejugbe General
Hospital and State Pavilion were commissioned
with fanfare.
“Today, Ekiti State is under the yoke of debt,
courtesy of Fayemi’s mismanagement of the
State resources and what we are destroying are
those legacies of mis-governance he left behind.
“One bad news that we must however tell
Fayemi is that; we won’t only destroy his legacy
of mis-governance and betrayal in Ekiti, we will
also make sure that economic devourers like
him will never taste power in the State.” |
One day a local evangelist bragged during a crusade that his God was more able than all the other gods in the town and the powers of the universe that the villagers worshiped put together. Just then, rainstorm sounds started sounding overhead, threatening the progress of the crusade. The evangelist lifted up his voice and declared with confidence that if the rains fell, then he wasn't a man of God; he would stop preaching! Before he could finish his bluff, the rains began to hit the crusade grounds so vehemently, apparently in disregard to his declarations. The whole town left the crusade grounds to their houses, shaking their heads in disappointment and dismay. The evangelist, so distraught and angry, packed his belongings and left the town the next day. On his way through the next town, he checked into a local drinking spot and drank himself to stupor. As he laid on the ground cursing God, an old seedy looking man tapped him gently on the shoulder. "Man of God", the old man began. But the evangelist quickly cut in, "don't mention the name of God to me. He is fake. He is unreliable. I am no longer a believer in this God. A God who chooses to disgrace his servants. Leave me alone!" But the old man would not let him be. He continued,"I am the fetish priest in the village you just preached at. During your one week stay in that village, you destroyed all the charms i had made on the people for 45 years. Your prayers and your words always came with some fearful fire and power. I tried so many times to eliminate you but i couldn't. My last chance came yesterday. I had loaded my gun with gun powder lying wait on the mountaintop where i had a very clear view of you. My plan was to shoot you from a distance since i couldn't get close enough to you due to the fire around you. But just when i lifted the gun, the rains came from nowhere, wetting my gunpowder and covering you in a cloud so that i couldn't even see you. All i saw was a bright man holding a sword in front of you. I was so terrified. I concluded that your God was indeed all powerful and Almighty. That is why i've been looking for you since then. I want to follow this your God!" The ex-evangelist bowed his head in shame! Dear friends, sometimes, it is just wise for us to believe that our Father knows the way He is taking us. We should just trust His leading. Let our boast be in the Lord, not in ourselves. If we decree a thing and it doesn't happen, let us not see it as disappointment or dishonor from the Father. Let us just believe that the Father wants his perfect will to be done in all things. Share if you think it worth sharing. It motivated me. |

Former Speaker of the Ekiti State House of
Assembly and chieftain of the All Progressives
Congress (APC), Hon. Femi Bamisile at the
weekend flagged off free petrol distribution to
commercial motorcycle operators, as part of
efforts to bail them out of the present economic
hardship.
Flagging off the programme in Ado Ekiti at
Reference Point Petrol Station in Adebayo,
Bamisile said the measure was in compliance
with the cardinal objectives of the President
Muhammadu Buhari administration, which
places high premium on the poor masses.
No fewer than 200 motorcyclists, popularly
called Okada riders benefitted from the gesture,
which was part of the mobilisation drives
towards the 2018 governorship poll.
The ex-speaker appealed to the commercial bike
operators to resist attempt by anybody or group
to sabotage the programme.
Bamisile, who has declared his intention for the
2018 gubernatorial seat on the platform of the
APC, said the exercise would be done on every
first Friday of every month.
He said the programme, which would be a
continuous one, was part of the series of
programmes lined up to shore up the party’s
popularity in the state and to cushion the effects
of the hard-biting economic recession on the
populace.
He said: “You would all agree with me that
many of these okada riders are graduates, but
circumstance of life make them what they are.
So, they deserved attention. We have to create
enabling environment that will make them ply
their trade without difficulty.
“APC under President Buhari has a blueprint
that is entirely centred on the masses. Our party
is masses-oriented and we have to display this
in our deeds and that was what we are doing.
We will continue to give them supports and
ensure that an average youth does not see crime
as a way of life.
“But we beg them not to allow anybody to use
them to sabotage this programme. It was meant
to make lives more meaningful to them and
reduce poverty in the system,” Bamisile stated.
He assured that the APC will unveil and begin to
implement series of programmes and schemes
for other groups, like the market men and
women, widows, people with disabilities,
unemployed youths, among others before the
end of the year. (ThisDayLive)

Why Pharmacists Council Shuts 236 Medicine Stores
in Ekiti
Pharmacists Council of Nigeria has raised the alarm
over increasing number of illegal drug dealers in Ekiti
State, revealing that a total of 236 pharmacies and
medicine shops were sealed off during an enforcement
raid.
According to the council, the raid conducted by the
officers of the drug regulatory body was not meant to
send people out of jobs or create unnecessary panic in
the system, but to ensure compliance to rules,
particularly on proper registration, to safeguard the
health of the Nigerian citizens.
Speaking with journalists in Ado Ekiti recently, the PCN
Deputy Director and Head of Enforcement, Mr. Stephen
Esumobi, said out of 240 premises visited, only four
were given clean bill, describing the development as
dangerous and inimical to the people’s wellbeing.
Esumobi revealed that they committed offences ranging
from unauthorized sale of medicines, operating without
the supervision of a pharmacist and poor storage and
documentation facilities.
He said the clarification over the allegation that the
body was becoming too coercive became imperative, in
view of the protest staged against the closure of some
medicine shops by Association of Drug dealers in Ado
Ekiti on a recent Thursday.
“It surprised me that people had to protest in that
manners and numbers. It shows that it was a
premeditated action. We are not out to make life
difficult for them, but to ensure compliance to simple
rules. As a regulatory body, we cannot allow the sale of
drugs that can kill innocent people.
“It is bad that Nigeria is a society where people don’t
do research or take statistics about happenings. We
have not asked about the cause of increasing kidney
failure in Nigeria. We learnt that some Pharmacists are
compromising with them and whoever caught will be
deregistered”, he said.
Esumobi urged the State Ministry of Health to continue
to engage drug dealers in constant seminars and
workshops, to prevent calamity from befalling
unsuspecting members of the public who may not be
able to differentiate the registered ones from the quacks
.
“Our office received reports of the activities of
unregistered premises , engaging in illegal sale of
medicines in Ekiti. Since many of them were not
recommended for the sale of medicines, the quality,
safety and efficacy of drugs sourced from them cannot
be guaranteed.
“Even some of the registered premises were selling
beyond their approved list. Some keep stocks in a
manner that violates laid down rules and regulations to
the detriment of the citizens. If the ugly trend is
allowed to continue, it will have negative impact on the
citizens. What we did was an attempt to reverse the
ugly situation”, he said.
He urged the people to purchase their drugs from
licensed pharmacies and patent medicine vendors , to
prevent their health from being jeopardized by the
actions of those he described as saboteurs.

Ekiti House Permits Fayose To Convert Bank Loans To
FG Bonds
The Ekiti State House of Assembly has passed a
resolution permitting the state government to
participate in the restructuring of commercial bank
loans to Federal Government’s Bonds.
It will be recalled that the government has been
struggling under the weight of effects of huge
commercial bank loans it inherited from its predecessor.
According to a statement issued by the Special Assistant
to the House Speaker, Mr Stephen Gbadamosi, the
legislature gave its nod over the matter during a sitting
of the House on Tuesday.
This was sequel to a debate over a letter the Speaker,
Right Honourable Kola Oluwawole, said the state
governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, addressed to the House.
The Speaker also disclosed that the governor had
requested the pleasure of the honourable members at a
meeting on important state matters today (Wednesday).
Right Honourable Oluwawole said the letter, entitled;
“Restructuring of Commercial Banks’ Loans to Federal
Government Bonds,” was seeking the approval of the
House, through a resolution, as part of the conditions
the government needed to fulfill to partake in the
exercise.
“A letter came from the Executive Governor of the State,
Mr Ayodele Fayose, to the lawmakers. The letter is
entitled “Restructuring of Commercial Bank Loans to
Federal Government Bonds.” This will help the
government to restore fiscal stability. But a resolution of
the House is part of the conditions needed to partake of
the restructuring,” he said.
It was upon this disclosure that the House deliberated
extensively over the subject, after which the Leader of
House Business, Honourable Akinyele Olatunji, mover a
motion for the resolution.
Part of the issues considered by the House in granting
the permission were that, than commercial banks’ loans,
bonds have longer time of repayment schedule and that
the interest rate is lower.
Members also pointed out that the interest rate on
bonds was lower compared to that of commercial banks’
loans.
Earlier, the House had screened a commissioner
nominee from the executive, a former member of the
House from Oye constituency 1, Honourable Ayodele
Michael.
He was unanimously confirmed for the position, after
some members had taken turn to examine his past
deeds as a politician, lawmaker and hard working party
man. |
The Ekiti State Police Command and the
Department of State Service have arrested a self
acclaimed Pastor, Mr Babatunde Balogun, two
women and 10 others in connection with
kidnapping in the state.
The security agencies also declared two siblings:
Kenneth and Jonathan Ozoh, as well as one
Kehinde Adeleye and Sunday Ogunleye as part of
the suspected kidnap syndicates terrorising
Ekiti residents in the last three months.
The quartet were accused of being behind the
kidnap of a lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo
University, Ile Ife, Dr Femi Omisore, a priest
with Ekiti Catholic Diocese, Rev Father
Emmanuel Akingbade, among other victims that
were recently kidnapped within the State .
Specifically, Balogun was accused of giving
spiritual counseling to the suspects and sharing
from the proceeds of the kidnappings.
While parading the suspects in Ado Ekiti on
Monday, an event attended by Governor
Ayodele Fayose, the DSS State Director, Mr Duke
Fubara and the Police Commissioner, Mr Etop
James, said the suspects in statements made had
confessed about their involvements in the
crime.
Fubara added that, one Gbenga David, a.k.a
Oruma, who was accosted by his men in Osun
State during investigation and shot while
making efforts to escape was receiving
treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
He said the efforts became fruitful, following
synergy between the DSS and the police to rid
the State of crimes and miscreants.
Fubara said, “We could all attest to the fact that
the kidnappers terrorised the State from the
first week of May this year. Their activities
brought a lot of trauma to the people.
“Though, some of the victims have been
released, but we did not give in. We did
investigation and we increased our network and
the result is what you are seeing today.
“What we found with the composition of these
suspects was that some of them were members
of the inmates that escaped during the
November 30, 2014 jailbreak in Ekiti.”
Also speaking, the CP said the anti-kidnapping
Squad of the Command was working round the
clock to prevent resurgence of kidnapping in the
State.
Fayose appealed to opposition to stop
politicising kidnapping and other criminal acts,
saying “It is a collective fight. We have to fight
this together, so that all of us can sleep with two
eyes closed.”
The Governor, who lauded the security agencies’
efforts lamented that Ekiti had been in turmoil
since last year’s jailbreak in Ado Ekiti, urging
the security operatives to step up efforts on the
need to bring the escapees back to prison.
“Ekiti has been under great torment since last
year’s jailbreak incident. But we want you to
beam your searchlights on the neighbouring
States like Delta, Osun and Ondo States because
we had the trace that people used to come from
outside to train our people here in kidnapping
and make use of them.
“If you study this very well, you will understand
that the networks have been widened and we
have to do everything to break it,” Fayose
added. (Punchng) |

Taiwo Olatunbosun (Ekiti APC Spokesman)
Begs Fayose for Forgiveness
Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive
Congress, (APC), Ekiti State chapter, Hon. Taiwo
Olatunbosun, has sent emissaries to the Ekiti
State governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, seeking
forgiveness for all he has done in the past.
Sources disclosed that a national assembly
member from Ekiti State, was among those
approached by Hon. Olatunbosun to broker
peace between him and the governor.
Though it is not clear whether or not the
emissaries had reached out to the governor, the
source said Olatunbosun was facing some
spiritual problems, which necessitated his
seeking peace with those he believed he had
offended.
It was equally learnt that for the first time,
Olatunbosun was feeling guilty, realising how
Fayose truly changed his status from a rice
farmer in Igbemo-Ekiti, his hometown, and a
Beer seller at Spotless Hotel, Ado-Ekiti, to a
Deputy Speaker of the Ekiti State House of
Assembly, during Fayose’s first administration
between 2003 and 2006.
Olatunbosun was among those brought into
political limelight in Ekiti State by Governor
Fayose. He was said to be a rice farmer in
Igbemo-Ekiti, Irepodun/Ifelodun Local
Government area of Ekiti State when Fayose
picked him up and gave him the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) ticket to contest the
Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government
Constituency II seat in the State House of
Assembly.
Fayose went further to make Olatunbosun the
House of Assembly Deputy Speaker and even
Acting Governor, thus making him one of the
most people in the government.
However, the moment Fayose was impeached,
Olatunbosun turned agains the governor and he
eventually moved to the All Progressives
Congress (APC) when Fayose picked the PDP
governorship ticket last year.
“When Olatunbosun was made the APC Publicity
Secretary, his belief then was that he will either
use the position to get money from the APC
national leader, Senator Bola Tinubu or if he
keeps attacking Governor Fayose, the governor
will have no option than to call him for
settlement.
“As it is now, Olatunbosun has not been able to
get the expected financial benefit from Tinubu
and Fayose has ignored him despite his
persistent lies against the governor.
“Most importantly, Olatunbosun is said to have
been battling with some spiritual problems for
sometimes now, and all what he has been told
so far was to go and beg whoever he had
betrayed in the course of his journey in life,”a
source said.
One of the emissaries who spoke under the
condition of anonymity said;”He told us that his
spiritual father from Oke Agbe Akoko in Ondo
State, in whom he had the greatest trust, also
told him to seek forgiveness from the offended
benefactor.
That, until he seeks forgiveness from who
changed the story of his life for better, and
whom he personally confirmed to be Governor
Fayose, he may not likely have a solution to his
problem.”
“Honestly speaking, I have never had much
belief in consequences of betrayal to be this
cumbersome and threatening, until when this
man called Olatunbosun ran to me for help.
“I thought it was a kind of political
merrymaking which he has been known for, not
until he showed me a big sore on his lap.
The national assembly member, who said he was
yet to meet with the governor on the issue,
added that he was still looking for an auspicious
time to talk to the governor, and that he was
sure the governor will forgive and forget.
“Although he has confided in us that he cannot
but discharge his duty as the mouthpiece of the
party, APC, here in Ekiti, he confessed that most
of the press releases published in newspapers in
his name were actually written by one of the
aides of former Governor Kayode Fayemi.”

In his bid to increase rice production in Ekiti
state, the Hon Commissioner for Agriculture and
Rural Development Honorable Kehinde
Odebunmi has met with Rice Growers and Rice
Processors, to discuss ways of helping the
Farmers to increase rice production, and expand
the rice business in the state.
The State Government through the Ministry of
Agriculture and Rural Development provided
fund to empower the farmers from Commercial
Agric Scheme Fund (CACS Fund).
In his address to the Famers and Processors
present at the meeting, the Hon commissioner
said, the state governor, Dr Peter Ayodele
Fayose is determined to make Ekiti the food
basket of the nation, and one of the best ways
of doing this is by empowering farmers in the
state with loan and subsidized agricultural
inputs.
The commissioner further stressed that, In 2014,
the state government disbursed N17Million to
some farmers to grow and Expand their
businesses, but up till this moment nothing has
been refunded to the state coffer. Odebunmi
said the state government is more than ready to
help the farmers, only if they are ready to help
the state by paying up loans gotten from
government.
He said the non-repayment of loan is a major
impediment to the sustainability of the
programme. He further stated that the fund was
a revolving one, and not a share of a supposedly
‘National Cake’.
The commissioner has therefore directed
Fountain Agricultural Marketing Agency (FAMA)
an Agency in the Ministry of Agriculture to put
up a strategy on how to totally recover the debt
owed by the debtors in order to ensure the
sustainability of the programme.
The Agency has swung into action, and is
presently collaborating with a Private Loan
Repayment Firm through Public Private
Partnership (PPP) to recover from the debtors
(Farmers and Processors) debt they are owing
the government.
The Agency provides marketing platform to the
farmers through provision of fertilizer to the
farmers, recovering of loan from farmers and
making the funds available in the next cropping |
Tragedy struck in at the Nova junction axis of
the Adebayo Iworoko road, Ado Ekiti at the
early hours of Wednesday, as a ghastly accident
involving a commercial truck carrying bottled
drinks, crushed a motorcyclist leading to the
death of the passenger on the motorcycle.
The accident, according to eyewitnesses, was
caused by over speeding of the motorcyclist, a
meat seller who was trying to beat the morning
rush to get to the abattoir.
The motorcyclist had tried to overtake the truck
but miscalculated the large waste bin on the
road and swerved under the rear tyre of the
large truck.
The rider of the motorcycle escaped unhurt, but
the passenger, a young boy of about 16 years
(name withheld), was unlucky as he was crushed
by the truck.
Some passers-by were of the opinion that the
large waste bin on the roadside was responsible
for the accident, while some said it was caused
by over speeding.
The police and security agencies have since
cleared the gridlock which affected the free flow
of traffic on the road, while the corpse of the
young boy has been deposited at the state
government Morgue.
