U sound quite reasonable and mature, and u are very right. So I'll reply.
However, it's good people know updates before they embark on the journey. I'm not referring to people who have finalised their admission processes and only plan flying in.
It is more for people at the stage of initiating the move.
Update shared is to allow people make informed decisions.
I moved 2 years ago with my wife and didn't spend up to 15million naira in total which included £10500 of tuition paid.
Majority that traveled then counted on care job switching. Many are stuck now on post graduate visa but at least the rule is relaxed a bit for those in the UK already.
It may sound harsh but we have to state it. I'm also affected to an extent by the rule, so we all have our fair share.
The most brutal of them all is that people on student visa can no longer get sponsorship in Care job even after concluding their studies.
So before u embark of study route, map out your plan as to where to get sponsorship after school. It used to be care job for over 90% of students but it's longer an option.
It's just an update and brutal one at that. Yes it is, we don't need to sugar coat.
Chief thank you for the understanding and recognising I wasn't attacking you for updating us. I was just wondering if there's any good thing again left in the UK, as all I've been seeing lately is one sad news to another here. I'm certain some people over there still had ways they made or gained something tangible for themselves, as there will always be good and bad news as long as we live on earth.

A mixture of both would help alot of people come to a reasonable conclusion on which path to follow.

God will see us all through ✌️

People do share positive news and when they do a lot of Nigerians will accuse them of showing off or presenting the UK as heaven, you hear things like..there is nothing in the UK, bills are killing them, they are second class citizens, they are suffering and smiling bla bla bla

When they share bad news the same Nigerians will start moaning and saying don't discourage us, Nigeria is hell, we rather suffer and die in the UK etc. So what exactly do you people want?
Bro, ever since I've been on this thread, I've never seen anyone say something positive about the UK. Personally, I've not seen (maybe some have). No one shares "how hard it was at the beginning and how they turned it around" posts. I'm not saying it's a bed of roses there but come on, such posts lifts hearts and minds (for those scared).

Secondly, I always have it at the back of mind that "anything can happen", especially relocating to a foreign country. I'm not against sharing updates for people in 9ja to learn and get informed, but for the past few weeks/months now, no encouraging stories at all (asides VISA ALERTS!).

Lastly, please be sharing good stories too and I'll never say you're showing off, but learn how to get to that stage too.

Ok no worries, get in ill prepared then you will the true meaning of depression
Lol bro, I've stayed in abroad in the past for a few years and I know how it feels about the "depression" part (assuming we are talking about the same thing).
My point is that many 9ja folks in the UK have made it a habit of spreading fear and posting mostly the sad stories about abroad, but yet they're still living there. Can't our people in the UK share the good stories sometimes? Or must it be fear fear all the time?
It's not easy anywhere and especially in a new country but this is an opportunity that comes with risks. In all, we hope for a better future. ✌️

Okay. If you have a prepaid dollar card, simply get the naira equivalent in USD and put the right amount in the card. It is just like depositing money to an account.

There is no any bitter lesson ,there is more opportunity and chance it will work if you are inside UK..Get in and get your self a job and don’t be lazy ,Trust me everything will work out ..I have done it and I have friends that keep doing it .. I get my sponsorship immediately after school 2 years ago ..if you don’t then you can get into post study that’s 18-20 months to get a permanent job with sponsors , is it hard ? Yes. But it’s not impossible .Brace up yourself it’s not going to be easy but it’s achievable .

Welcome to UK.
God will bless you bro. Personally, I'm not scared of challenges because I've faced a whole lot in life and the UK is a far better place than here. Some people simply refuse to understand my point about my last comment, only that I'll learn a bitter lesson from experience lol.
Nobody be God and I know it won't be easy at first relocating to another country but people do it and still succeed if you have plans.

Thank you once more and I'm well prepared for the UK if everything goes to plan. ✌️

People like you need to learn a bitter lesson from experience. Someone posted a very important piece of information and you are here calling it discouragement.
No problem. Bitter lessons from experience is what I've lived with bro, so I'm not scared of that. Also, if you read well, I thanked him for the information before saying my opinion but I guess you'll only pick the one that suits you.

I intentionally posted this here. This was released yesterday.
With this, the possibility of getting sponsorship after study is very very and very low except u study clinical courses that can get u job with NHS.
I know some will say this is discouraging but it's fact...
Think a million times before u japa..
Thank you for this. I know there are limitations to every immigrant in these top countries in the world. It's only a person living in denial won't know this. But is Nigeria a better place? In your own country, you're having to deal with alot.
Please easy with the discouraging news (not to me) because you can't tell what the future holds for all.

Generally, Wales is less crowded and as such, Housing and amenities are still fairly available compared to most parts of England, for Example. For shared accommodation, you can start networking with existing students, and you may also begin to send requests on Spareroom and start doing virtual viewings. You may also use the school accommodation and pay in installments. The Question on availability of jobs in WALES is a sensitive one, you should get something to keep you engaged and give you local work experience after a few searches and several "unfortunately" emails. Just ensure you prepare before leaving Nigeria , have money for accommodation, Food , transportation etc
Thank you for the insight. I will kick-start the accommodation process ASAP, as its the one thing that's a worry for me currently.

Wrexham is a good university , recently rebranded and improved the name that's why it's now something you can easily write and pronounce ( grin)

location is WALES , Not bad not as congested as England and Overall tuition is still low, most courses are priced at 11,500 after discount and deposit is 5500
Good day bro. You seem to know some things about Wales. I got admission at Cardiff Metropolitan University and I want to know how it is like there in Cardiff (like job opportunities) and also any clue on how to go about shared accommodation in Cardiff.
Thanks

Good day everyone

I have two two questions:

1.I was told that lOM ( migration health assessment center is the only approved TB screening center for UkVI visa applications and any test done in other listed clinics will not' be accepted
Please I need information on this.

2. Anyone going to Keele University this September. Let's connect please.
For question number 1, I just collected my TB test cert from Qlife now and it's acceptable by UKVI for visa applications.

I think it should start from the second day and not show the date of the lump sum. This was same advice I received when I'm to submit my POF.

Flywire might be high but they're efficient and deliver fast. That's the same payment platform I'll be using to make my deposit tomorrow.

I think bank statement comes when applying for visa proper, after CAS. CAS is the prerogative of the school offering admission and it's issued after fulfilling their requirement, such as payment of the initial deposit. Their own temporarily stops at that point while they push the rest of the money matters to the UK immigration office. In my opinion, bank statement for 28 days starts immediately after the issuance of CAS, in readiness for visa application. I stand to be corrected by learned nairalanders.
Thank you chief. But on my CAS shield portal, there's a section where they require I upload a bank statement to show I have the required funds. Its showing "upload bank statement". School is Cardiff Metropolitan University and I don't know if theirs is different.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 9 by Kaykaychizzy: 9:44am On May 24, 2025
Good morning everyone. Is it compulsory to upload a bank statement that's upto 28 days on the CAS shield portal with the required amount in my account? As that is the only delay for the documents upload on my CAS shield portal. It's just 15 days now since I transferred the funds to my personal account.
Thanks

Good evening everyone. I just received an unconditional offer for Msc from Cardiff Metropolitan now after meeting all conditions last week.
I am asked to make a deposit payment for CAS. Please, does anyone know what the current pounds to naira rate is today? As I plan on going to the bank for the payment.
Thanks.

Based on experience I would advise you to go for roehampton because it’s cheaper in terms of deposit and the payment plan is very ok
Thank you for the response. I was actually thinking Roehampton cost of living would be high but since it's cheaper and has good/favourable payment plan, I'll go for it.

Good day everyone. Please I would appreciate some input on this; Between Univeristy of Roehampton and UWE Bristol, which would you advise I go for? Considering the cost of living and tuition deposit for both.
