rioeng: Hello guys my big brother (26) is looking to go to study in Ireland, joining the September 2026 intake.
We have our uncle(my dad's brother) and cousin(our uncle's son) who are both working and are residents there. They have both agreed to sponsor my brother. We can prove his relationship with them with just 3-4 birth certificates. Wo already have a school near our cousin's place in mind, fees won't be a problem, we'll pay it in full.
I need guidance on various things: 1. How best can he explain the change of careers from electrical engineering to applied social care? 2. We have uncles, two in the UK and one in the US that will be depositing money in his bank account in euros, USD and pounds. Can i just explain is from my uncles and show the statements, because we all share one surname. 3. How does he show strong ties to return back to the country of origin. He has a daughter but not married yet. He has just finished school in 2025 so he has no job, no pay slips, no property, nothing at all. 4. If there is no employment history is that a negative? 5. Do i have to purchase the Ireland education bond and/or have money in his bank account for expenses if he is fully sponsored by our uncles, and he will be fully hosted by our uncle and cousin in Ireland for the whole 4 years. Like the €10,000 for the first year and fees and €10,000 expenses for subsequent years. 6. For example fees for the remaining 3 years is like €30,000, so does my uncle's account need to have that amount all at once to prove he can pay my fees and support me?
Thank you for your time lads, looking forward to hear from you. Hi, Good afternoon I feel you should paste these questions to chatgpt. it will give you sample to follow and give you ideas on how to compile everything. Especially number 1. |

Uche231213: It's not unusual for it to take this long during this period. Visa decisions usually take 6-8 weeks during normal periods so I'd imagine it will be a bit longer now that it's their peak period. You submitted September, that's roughly 8 weeks by my calculations so who knows, you might hear something soon. Be positive. Good luck Its 10 weeks and a day now |

abuhusna1: Most of you experiencing delay, sorry to tell you it was because if your brothers and sister already in Ireland for study purpose and most of them are claiming asylum. They are trying to reduce study route application from Nigeria because if this act What a pity ! Some nigerians no dey like see good things with their eyes, if them no spoil am dem no go rest. Same reason UK and Canada are also tighten borders for nigerians too. Is it really so hard to do things the right way ? |

Ayo112: It's usually like that before, visa decision comes out early. I got my initial visa decision in August and I applied late June but now seeing someone who has gotten decision since that August is now a huge task and this people are not rushing themselves based on the number of lists they release every Monday. When i see 2 pages list, i dont even bother to search my number. Extremely disappointing. And our Passports are with them o, we cant even start looking or processing plan B for ourselves. |

Uche231213: When did you apply and when does your school resume? I applied in april 2025 against February 2026 resumption in griffith college dublin. Got my admission that same april and started preperations for visa same april, gathered money, wrote english test and did all necessary processes. I applied for my visa in september 2025 thinking id get it by october, buy ticket against early january so i can go and hustle accommodation before school starts. This is December and nothing, I cant make any plans at the moment cause i dont know what they are doing again. I have spoken to the school about visa application withdrawal and they said they will refund the tuition deposit but theyd take a few deductions but i should please exercise patience with the embassy. |

Ayo112: It’s because there’s no information out there about anything. I have gone through TikTok, insta and even twitter to just see someone that got visa from Ireland but I couldn’t find any. Know a lot of friend that are also waiting for response for fresh application and appeal… I guess people are just trying not to think about it I swear down Almost as if no nigerians have applied this year to study in ireland , all i see are advertisement to come and study in ireland This is very bad The only reason i chose ireland was because my friend told me she got her visa in 3 weeks last year against her september session resumption. I wonder what is happening this year. |

Ayo112: Saw this on their page this morning Is appeal not in trouble like this 6 months for processing I cant imagine the influx of applications they had this year. It is a total mess. They have terrible systems....... At the same time i think its a ploy to reduce the amount of people migrating to the country. |

Hi Good Afternoon Everyone,
Please i want to ask how long it takes for a nigerian to get response from the abuja irish embassy about their study visa.
My documents got to the abuja embassy on the 24th September 2025 and till now no response.
The Irish Embassy Abuja website is slow with giving weekly updates.
I am a bit worried, Please can the people who have successfully gone share how long you waited to get a response for visa.
Thank you very much for your time and response. |
