Valentine’s Day Party

Obinna had written his last paper the day before and he thought there was no use staying longer than necessary on campus, so he packed his stuff early valentine’s day, and left school. He was lucky to get the last seat on the first bus going to Lagos at the bus garage opposite his school, the University of Ibadan. That was how the day begun with a spark; but even at that point, he had no idea the valentine’s day was going to be one the most unforgettable lovers day of his life.

……….

He switched his black duffle bag from his left shoulder to his right as he stepped into his street. Packing light was his plan, but the long walk from the bus stop had made the bag feel heavier and tire his lanky body out. As he walked down his street, his eye caught a red pickup truck looking for where to park up ahead. In the rare end cargo area of the truck were wooden parts he guessed were for setting up a stage. There was always one celebration or the other on his street, but he was surprised anyone would be having a party on a Wednesday. Maybe someone died again, he thought to himself. He noticed bright colored posters on most of the gates, and as he slowed down by a broken down car to actually read what was written on the poster, a little kid shouted out, “Uncle Obinna.” He stopped and looked to his right were the voice had come from, and he saw the little toddler running towards him from the entrance of a cream colored bungalow with low fence. He immediately dropped his duffle and assumed a crouching position to hold the boy in an embrace. “What did you buy for me?” The little kid said enthusiastically.

Obinna laughed, and as he was about to answer the little cute kid, a shadow was casted in front of him. He looked up, and by the gate of the bungalow was a chubby light skinned teenage girl with a smile on her face. “How are you doing Titilayo.” Obinna said. She was on the phone, and waved at him in greeting. “Tobi, go and meet your mom.” He said as he got up and swung his bag around his shoulder.
“No jor! Come and tell me ninja tortoise story.” The little kid said and folded is arms.
Obinna laughed lightly before saying, “Don’t worry, I’ll come back and tell you the story, let me drop my bag first.” The little three year old boy stood there, with a frown on his face, watching Obinna walk away. “Don’t worry, I will soon be back now, you hear?” Obinna added.
“Make sure you come back o!” The little kid said with a smile on his face before running off to meet his mom.

As Obinna turned around to continue his walk to his house, memories came flooding back. It was just like yesterday when his best friend at the time, Teju had brought Titilayo to his house after school on a valentine’s day in 2014. Obinna’s house was always free as his dad was a pilot who was never around, and his mother had passed away when he was just a kid.

Teju had been talking to her on the street late at night for weeks on end as their puppy love grew, but that was the first time they had been under a roof with no adult supervision. One thing led to another, they started taking shots of Tequila, and they ended up having sex; just once, and according to Teju, it didn’t last more than thirty seconds. But three weeks later, they found out Titilayo was pregnant.
Teju couldn’t come to terms with the reality; they were all just fifteen at the time. Teju started having sleepless nights, and even skipping school as Temidayo, Titilayo’s twin brother always beat him up every chance he got for impregnating his twin.

A month after the pregnancy news broke out, Teju was found unconscious in his room. He was rushed to the hospital, but the doctor pronounced him dead right there in the backseat of his dad’s Toyota Corolla. His death was a puzzle until an empty bottle of sniper pesticide was found by his bed side.

Relieving the experience of that day again in his head made him sad, but when he turned around one more time and saw Tobi playing with his mom outside their house gate, a smile returned to his face.

His street was a very long one, with about 40 houses total, but a closed community. There were four entrances into the street; the north and south entrances, and the two opposite midsection entrances. The gates were locked at three of these entrances by 7pm every night, leaving only the north end entrance for everyone to use. Majority of the residence of Olufemi street, in Bariga were printers, and had their businesses located in the same location around Shomolu area of Lagos, so it was like one big happy family.

He got to his house and put his hand through the small square hole in the black gate to open it from inside. An Alsatian started barking and charged towards him; it slowed down its pace as it picked up his scent. Then it started wagging its tail and dancing around. Obinna raised his hand in the air, and the dog stood on its hind legs, trying to bite Obinna’s hand, but he kept raising it higher and higher, as the dog lipped up in the air; after a while, he crouched down to play with the Alsatian a little before walking off. He had his eyes on the upstairs balcony, as if waiting to see someone or something, then looked away and walked off to his apartment.

……….

His dad wasn’t home as usual. He got the house key from the secret place under the flower pot. Their apartment was at the back, and it had its own separate gate; although the gate was never locked, it still made it harder for intruders to wonder into the area.
After taking a quick shower, and changing into ripped blue jeans and a red t shirt that had ‘The Greatest’ inscription on it, he walked out of his room, unplugged his phone from the living room wall, and walked out of the house.

The dog was by the generator house when he opened the gate that demarcated his apartment area from the rest of the compound; it looked up at him, wagged its tail for a while, and then went back to playing with the empty Eva water bottle in front of it. “So you’re already tired of me, right?” Obinna said as he walked past the dog. He stopped in front of a red metal door, took a deep breath and knocked on it.
“Who is it?” A sweet sounding female voice shouted out.
“Janet, it’s Obinna…Is Kevin around?”
“What? Is that Obinna for real?” A guy said out loud.
He heard footsteps coming down stairs, and then the metal door swung open. “Hey Obinna, how are you doing?” The slender brown-skinned girl in front of him said. A big smile was evident as she pulled her braids back from her face.
“Whoa!” Obinna exclaimed
“What?”
“You have…you look different.” Obinna said and she chuckled before running back up the stairs. He stepped in, closed the metal door behind him, and was lost in thought as he walked up the stairs. Not only had she grown a bit more flesh since he last saw her four months ago, she also appeared a lot bolder.
He walked straight to Kelvin’s room, and as he suspected, his friend was playing video game. “You haven’t changed?” He said and as he shut the door behind him.
“Hey! My man!” The smallish guy in oversize white t shirt and boxer shorts got up from the floor between the bed and the TV, dropped the game pad and raised his hand for a hi five with Obinna. They slapped hands, and hugged. “What’s up bro!!? Why didn’t you let me know you were coming?”
“No battery on my phone.”Obinna replied.
“Hmm! Nice afro. You look good.”
“Thanks.”
“Men! This God of War is the shiznit on PS 4.” He said and rushed back to resume his position in front of the TV. “What’s up bro! Fill me in on all the girls you have shagged so far.”
“What the…”
“Oh, you don’t want Janet to hear?”
Obinna looked at the door before saying, “What are you saying?”
“Hope you have grown balls to tell Janet you like her now?”
“Kevin, stop.” Obinna said with a laugh.
“Bro, you better tell her before one unknown guy comes along and shags her.”
“Dude, that’s your sister you are talking about.”
“So? She's 18. And I’d rather it were you than some random guy.” He stopped the game to massage his neck, and then started it again. He looked sideways at Obinna for a split second before saying, “At least I know you like her.”
Kevin had always had a slick mouth, and he got away with a lot of things he said because he had sickle cell disease, and people just let him have a field day when he started running his mouth. Even with his parents, he got away with almost everything. He was always the first in the neighborhood to get the latest video games.
“Hey dude, you know there is a valentine’s party tonight right?”Kevin said without looking Obinna’s way.
“Are you for real?”
“Yes. Didn’t you see all the posters on the walls?”
“Oh yea, I noticed that but…” He was saying then stopped to pull out his vibrating phone from his pocket. He looked at the screen for a second before picking up and saying, “hello sir.”
“Obinna, how are you? Are you home now?” His dad said on the other end of the line.
“Yes sir.”
“Did you see the Mars chocolate bars I left for you in the refrigerator? I know you like Mars.”
“Yes sir. Thank you.”
“Okay. I’ll be home tomorrow morning.”
“Okay sir.”
“Bye.”
“Bye.”
“Awww! Daddy’s baby.” Kevin said.
“Ode!” Obinna said, and hit his friend at the back of his head. Kevin concentrated extra hard on the game, and after a while, he dropped the control pad and looked at Obinna with a frown. “You killed my vibe bro.”
“Whatever.” Obinna said before free falling on the bed.
Kevin switched off the TV from the wall socket, got off the floor, stretched and said, “Let’s go outside.”

……….

When Obinna, Kevin, and Janet stepped out of their house, music was already booming from the set up stage at the west midsection gate of the street. Teenagers dressed in red and white colored clothing were all over the place. Janet had on a red leather skirt, white jumper top, with a red leather jacket that had zippers everywhere like the jacket Michael Jackson wore on the cover of his Bad album. Even adults had a little red and a little white here and there in their dressing. Major Lazer's Particular came on and everybody automatically got into the mood to dance. Obinna kept repeating the words, "I like you girl in particular" and pointing at Janet as they moved to the rhythm of the song.

The DJ kept people dancing, and there was a chorused shout each time a new song came on. After about twenty minutes of his wing-man being hijacked by his sister, Kevin stylishly found his way back to the house.

Around 8pm, Janet said she had to go home and let her parents know where she was. He volunteered to walk her home, but she said he should stay and have fun. He watched her run off, and he caught sight of Titilayo sitting alone on a car on the east wing gate, opposite where all the action was going on.

“You’re missing out.” He said to her when he was a few feet away from her. She smiled and said nothing. She had always been a very reserved individual, and Obinna was use to her that way. He sat silently with her for a few minutes, and then asked her where Tobi was. She said he had cried himself to sleep because uncle Obinna didn’t come back to tell him the Ninja Tortoise story. They both burst out laughing. Obinna promised to check on him the next morning, and Titilayo said she would pass the message along to him. They chit chatted for a while, and then she urged him to go have fun. He told her he would check on her again after some time, and she nodded at him with a smile.

They had started sharing food, and music had stopped playing as one of the parents that organized the party was on stage talking about importance of abstinence. He found her wondering around the place, with two packs of food and two cans of coke in her hand. He tapped her, and she turned around with a frown on her face, which was quickly replaced by a smile. “Hey! Where have you been? I’ve been looking all over for you.” She said enthusiastically.
“I…never mind, what do you have here?” He asked and she handed him a food pack, and canned coke. They sat on an old yellow Volvo close to the street’s public borehole tank.
“So…how is Ibadan?”
“Well, it is not Lagos.” He said and they both laughed. “I don’t leave campus much, but I guess school life over there is interesting enough.”
“Yea? Like how interesting?” She asked and looked at him with a mischievous smile on her face.
“Well…Umm! You got rice on your mouth…” he said and used his thumb to brush off the food from the corner of her mouth.
“Thank you.” She said with a smile.
“About school, just normal fun stuff…video games in the common room, talking rap music with friends, going out for drinks…stuff like that.”
“What of girls?”
“Well, the girls are there…they are there.” He said and laughed a little.
“You have a girlfriend?”
“Well…” he was saying then stopped to take a sip from the can in his hand and then turned to face her with a smile on his face as he said, “wait, I got to ask, how did you get so bold?” She chuckled and he laughed a little before adding, “Did you take a boldness pill or something? This is so rapid.” She laughed some more and it got quiet afterwards.
“Umm! I overhead what Kevin said earlier.” She said, breaking the silence.
“When was that? What did he say?”
“He said you were afraid to tell me…to tell me you liked me.”
“Oh my! This is getting awkward.”
“Are you?” She asked, with her eyes focused on him.
He looked at her for a while before saying, “No I’m not. I just didn’t know how your brother would feel about it.”
Kevin’s loud voice disrupted his speech, and when he looked up, he saw his small statured best friend having an argument with the chubby six foot bully, Temidayo. He jumped off the car, and Janet did the same. Kevin was cursing Temidayo out, and Temidayo kept saying he didn’t care if Kevin was sick or not, that he would still give him a beat-down if he didn’t shut up.
Obinna saw that slap like it was in slow motion, and then Kevin fell to the floor. He rushed to his side, and pulled him up. “Are you okay?” he asked, but Kevin was quiet, looking downcast. Obinna shot Temidayo a mean look as he made to walk Kevin home.
“Yea, run along, wimp number two.” Temidayo said and shoved Obinna. He was going to keep walking, but he saw the disappointed look in Janet’s eyes; a picture of his dead friend, Teju frowning, flashed through the screen of his mind, and like a car going from zero to sixty in six seconds, his anger level rose. It was like Teju’s spirit got in him as he turned around and swung a left hook at Temidayo. His fist landed a heavy blow on the big bully’s jaw. Temidayo staggered back and almost lost balance. He stood there, with his hand cupping his chin, looking at Obinna. It was clear he never in his life thought Obinna would have the nerve to actually hit him. Obinna stood there like, bring it on. After a few seconds of uncomfortable silence, Temidayo turned around and walked away from the scene.

“That’s my boy! You did me proud my boy!” Kevin kept repeating as he stood in front of his friend and shadow boxed. Still basking in the euphoria of what had just happened, Obinna remembered someone and turned around to look in the direction Titilayo was seated. He didn’t know how she would feel after he just punched her twin brother, but she smiled at him and slowly nodded. He shot her back a smile, and turned around to face his friends.

……….

After Kevin had gone off to change clothes, and everyone had gone back to dancing, eating, or whatever they were doing before that epic moment, Janet walked up to him, and said, “So, what were you saying before we were rudely interrupted.” He looked at her, and it was like he was in a movie; Ed Sheeran’s song, Perfect was playing in the background, and timing felt perfect. He slowly leaned in and kissed her on the lips. He pulled back, and she opened her eyes, smiling. She leaned in and gave him a peck on the lips, put her arms around his neck, her head on his chest, and they slow danced under the bright moonlight.

Sorry guys for leaving you hanging again. The thing is, I got a screenplay job two weeks ago, and I am just trying to get into the groove of that story before I continue here.

Thanks to all you guys that read and call others to read my stories...If not for you guys (and this forum), I probably would not have gotten the exposure that allowed the man that hired me see and read some of my stories and decided I was the man for the job.

I will definitely get back to the story before the week ends. My apologies once again.

Chapter 10

She didn’t wait for him to answer before sitting opposite him. Although they were very identical, when he took a closer look, he could tell it was Kehinde, and not Taiwo. He had seen them together a lot the last couple of days, and there was just something about Kehinde’s face that screamed fun. “Fancy meeting you here; I was just talking about you.” She said with a smile on her face. She had on a black leather mini skirt and a low plunging white blouse.
“Wait, what?” he said and sat up. “You were just talking about me; with whom?”
“Well, not talk as in physical talk, but chatting.”
“Okay, who were you talking about me with?”
“Oh shiit! I shouldn’t have told you that. Forget I told you that,” she said. When she saw the frown on his face, she added, “Okay! Okay! I’ll tell you; and that’s only because I am curious to know something about you too.”
“Who are you here with?” he asked when he saw her turn to the side and wave at someone inside the air conditioned lounge.
“A couple of guys.” She answered in a faint voice before shifting her focus back on him.
“What? Why are you staring at me like that?”
She laughed a little before saying, “You are so weird.”
“Who were you talking about me with?”
“Taiwo,” she said, and he slumped back in his seat. “Taiwo never tells me anything about guys she likes, but she told me about your little awkward moment at your house.”
“Oh!”
“She felt there was something wrong with her, but then I remembered the first time you came to our joint.”
“What happened?”
“You can’t remember nearly jumping out your skin because I was touching you.”
“Oh! That.”
“Yes, that.” She said and leaned in before adding, “Are you…are you gay?”
“No.” Efe answered with a confused look on his face.
“Are you like asexual or something?”
“No.” He responded in a low voice. She leaned in closer with each question she asked and now he couldn’t even concentrate with what was all up in his face.
“Oops! Okay. You’re definitely not gay or asexual.” She said and adjusted the low plunging blouse she had on.
He laughed for the first time that day. “Sorry about that,” he said between laughs. “Let me buy you a drink.”
“Hmm! If you promise to tell me what is going on, I will accept your offer.”
The beer had loosened him up, and the Olusho never said anything about him not telling anyone about the thirty days of abstinence, so he said, “Okay. Deal.”

……….

After telling her about the thirty days celibacy task, she let him know she had suspected it had to do with celibacy but thought it was some sort of juju he had done. They laughed about it, ordered drinks. She gave him some advice on how to handle the situation with Taiwo, and went on to discuss the strong connection between twins before she had to go back and join her friends. He left shortly afterwards.

As he lay in bed to sleep that night, he had a strong feeling something out of the ordinary was going to happen the next day, but he couldn’t tell if it would be a good event, or another disaster.

Chapter 9

Most bars in his neighborhood play loud music at night, and that was something he had grown to hate over the years. The only place he could go to that didn’t play loud Nigerian afro pop music out their speakers was a lounge on the other side of town that sold a bottle of beer for a thousand five hundred Naira. Even though that was five times the price he normally paid for beer, he drove down there anyway. At this point, he needed someplace relaxing. Even though his doctor had told him he couldn’t die from a panic attack, he feared the next one he had might actually kill him.

Efe was at a table all by himself, at the outside bar of the Deer Lounge, thinking of all that had happened that day. After rushing down to his poultry farm, and meeting his staff burying about 74 birds, he was a wreck. His vet doctor said it was definitely exotic Newcastle disease, which usually doesn’t show much warning signs in affected birds till they start dropping dead one by one. He was glad it was the 100 birds he kept in deep litter housing that were affected, and not the 2,900 in battery cages in the main pen.

They worked all day; all hands on deck giving the birds antibiotics, and properly disinfecting the whole farm house. He left the farm around 5pm, and drove down to the church to see the man who he felt might have some answers to his latest predicament.

After describing everything to the man, he reassured Efe that it was a coincidence, and that he was still on track. Efe found that had to believe with what had just happened, but the man had a smile on his face all the while, like he knew something Efe didn’t. He had left the place a bit elated.

He lost almost hundreds birds in one day, and although that was a bad thing, he had heard about poultry farmers losing two thousands birds in a space of 48 hours, so he was glad it didn’t get that worse in his case. Now, he just had to wait 3 more days to complete the thirty day task and see what life had in store for him. Although it had seemed like it would be easy when he first heard the old man say it, the task had turned out really harder than he thought. It was like that story in the Bible about Lot’s wife turning to a pillar of salt after looking back when asked not to do so. When you are asked not to do something, the temptation to do that thing grows.

His mind went to Taiwo, and he couldn’t imagine what would be running through her mind right now. Females don’t take rejection likely, and he hated that he had to put her through that weird ordeal at his home earlier in the day. “Hello, is this seat taken?” a female voice said. He looked up at her, and his heart immediately started racing.

Definitely. One can't get it all at the same time. It's either you're gaining this and losing that or the other way round. I understand Noilers will definitely command good market price because of their weight but one cannot afford to keep them for the duration one would normally keep a layer for egg production else one would run at a loss because of their food consumption rate.

Thanks anyway for your time.
You are welcome.

Kayo please when did ur noilers start laying. U meant u collects 10eggs every day. How many bags do they finish in a month, how much do u 1 crate
Yes, ten of them give me ten eggs every day.

They started laying around the 23rd week.

They eat quarter bag in 6 days...quarter bag is N800. In 6 days i get two crates. But i sell real cheap at N700 because of stiff competition in Ibadan. Two crates = N1400. I calculate N200 for the Vitamins and Antibiotics they take in a week...so, if i remove N200 from N1,400, i have N1,200. And if i remove N800 (price of feed) from N1,200, i have N400...which is the profit on two crates sold. Which comes down to N200 on a crate.

Chapter 8

How did we get here; he thought to himself as he sat watching TV on his long living room couch with Taiwo. It was a Saturday, and she was dressed casually in white t shirt and blue jeans. Even though she was on the other end of the couch, it felt like she was right beside him the way his body reacted. All he could think about was sex. He even had an erection a few minutes ago when she had reached out to collect the remote control from him and her hand had rested on his lap for a few seconds. If not for the jeans he had on, he was sure it would have been an awkward moment.

Twenty seven days and counting; he had just three days to go and hoped something dramatic won’t happen today to jeopardize the whole task.

After he helped her change the tire a couple of days ago, they had decided to grab something to eat together and discuss business further. And since that day, they had stayed in touch a lot, blurring the line between business and pleasure after a point. And today, she had decided to come get some crates from his home egg depot, and out of courtesy, he had invited her in after the eggs were loaded in her car, thinking she would decline, but she accepted.

He was so glad when power went out. “Oops! And I don’t have any fuel left in the generator,” he said and sat up.
“Who has fuel these days anyway?” she said and got up. He walked behind her as she headed towards the door. She turned around all of a sudden and bumped into him. “Oops! Sorry. I think I forgot my car keys,” she said and then looked at him for a few seconds before putting her palm on his chest. “Oh my God!” She exclaimed and led him by the hand back into the living room.“Your heart is beating too fast.”
“It’s okay. I am alright.” He said and started taking deep breath as he felt himself going into full panic mode.
“What’s wrong Efe? What should I do?” She said, looking worried.
He didn’t say anything for a while, but just kept taking deep breaths and trying to steady his shaky hands. After a few seconds, he smiled up at her, and said, “I’m okay now.”
“No you’re not.”
“Yes, I was just scared…”
“Scared? Scared of what?”
“It is hard to explain.”
She looked at him for a few seconds with confusion on her face and then said, “Efe, are you scared of me?”
“No. Not that. I’m scared of what…of what…” he was saying then let his voice trail off, with his eyes on her.
“It’s okay Efe. I feel the same way, but it’s okay.” She said and looked into his eyes for a few seconds, before leaning in and kissing him passionately on the lips; he reciprocated for a few seconds, then pulled back sharply.
“I’m sorry. I’m very sorry. I like you very much, but I can’t.” He said as he got off the couch, scratching his head. Without saying another word, she picked her car keys from the floor, smoothened out her top, and got off the couch. “I’m sorry. It’s just that I…”
“I’ll call you about making payments for the eggs.” She said, cutting him off.

She got up, and headed towards the door. They walked silently out the house, and when she got to her car, she sighed before opening the door and getting in. Efe signaled for the gateman to open the gate, and told Taiwo he would call her. She nodded and looked at him one last time before turning around and backing the car out of his driveway.

He waited for her to drive out, and then headed back inside the house. He dumped his body in the couch, and buried his face in his hands. Just then, his phone started vibrating in his pocket. He pulled it out, and saw it was his farm manager calling. When he picked up, all he heard was heavy breathing on the other end of the line. “Mr. Akintola, are you there?”
“Sir, I have called the vet, but the chickens…the chickens are dying.”
“What?”
“Yes, they just started dropping dead a few minutes ago.”

Wow! That's cool. But until we get a concise information as to the quantity of eggs that could be gotten from the same number of layers at the same age bracket, we cannot draw conclusions. I'm asking because I have interest in venturing into egg production. So would like to know precisely which, between the duo of layers and noilers will be more profitable.
Okay. I think you should go for brown layers then...they definitely would be more profitable when it comes to egg peoduction. They are smaller than Noilers, and i am sure they consume lower amount of feed. I just like Noilers cos they are heavier, and would command good price in the market when it is time to sell.

Nice. But I later read that they don't lay as much as the brown layers since they're a hybrid of broilers and layers. Though I've not seen someone with first hand experience on the two breeds to review from.
I read the same thing too...but this is my experience. I guess i am lucky.

Below are eggs i have collected since monday from the ten female noilers. Their eggs are lighter in color when compared with normal layer eggs.

Do they lay eggs like the layers? If yes, can one rely on them for egg production purposes and is it worth it when you factor in their consumption rate?
Yes, they lay eggs...the ten i have left lay every day. By my calculations, i make N200 on each crate i sell. I don't know how much people who use normal brown and black layers make though.

Chapter 7

“Wow! You look so much like her.”
“Yes, of course I do; we are twins.” Taiwo said and looked up at him funny.
“Yes, I know,” Efe said, still dazed. “I’m sorry, I was caught off guard.”
“It’s okay,” she said and laughed a little. “My mom actually wanted me to have a discussion with you.” She added.
“Okay.”
“So…she actually wanted to know if you are capable of supplying eggs to all our outlets across the state.”
Without thinking twice, Efe answered with, “I can.”
“Okay. I don’t have the raw figures with me right now, but I am guessing we would be needing like…” She was saying then stopped to look into space for a few seconds before adding, “Like a couple of hundreds of crates every week.”
“Okay. I can deliver.”
“That’s great. You would be dealing directly with me,” she said and handed her phone over to him. “Please let me have your number?”
“Okay,” he said and collected the phone. He handed it over after punching in his number. “My name is Mr. Efe Imarogbe.”
“Okay, Mr. Efe Imarogbe.” She said slowly as she stored his number on her phone. “You will hear from me pretty soon.” His phone started ringing, and then she said, “Yep! You just heard from me.”
“Oh!”
“Of course you will still hear from me again…” She was saying then stopped to chuckle. “Pardon me; I was just trying to be funny.”
Efe smiled at her as he held up his phone to store her number.
“Okay…so where is your farm?”
“Sheshegun.”
“Oh, that’s not too far from here. Please no delays.”
“No delays.”
“Okay. Be expecting a call from me soon.”
“Okay.” He said and she walked backwards for a few steps, then turned around and headed towards her car. Efe basked in the euphoria of what had just happened for a few seconds, and then got into his car. He pulled out his phone and called his farm manager.

When he ended the call, he sat there, making some mental calculations, and thinking of his next move. When he realized how odd it was sitting in his car for too long in an unfamiliar area, he started up the car and made a u-turn right at the spot he was parked at.
He drove out of the street and right there parked on the right side of the main road out of the estate was Taiwo’s car. She was standing beside the car, looking into her phone, but looked up when his SUV casted a shadow in front of her.

“Don’t worry; I’ll get it fixed.” she shouted out. Without saying anything back, he parked in front of her car, hopped out of his SUV, and walked back to meet her.
“Mr. Imofegbe you don’t have to…” she was saying and stopped when she noticed the screwed up look on his face. “Oops! Sorry, I guess I screwed up your name?”
“Just call me Efe,” he said as he crouched beside the affected tire. He looked up at her before saying, “I guess a nail did the damage. Hope you have a jack and wheel spanner in the boot.”
She was biting her nails as she responded with, “The extra tire is actually punctured too.”

hello, nice work well done.but I notice something abt dis story dat make me feel it uncompleted 1 is wat was d offer dat Ahmed gave Yusuf 2 is for d fact dat Ruth and Ahmed kiss dos not guarantee Ahmed not changing his mind after 7days, 3 is wat really change bimpe mode wasn't talk abt or was I d one dat miss dat part, 4 is whom yussuf is to bimpe is not clear, 5 is Ruth notice a guy among yussuf friends but not explain.
these are wat I note but I love your short story
Good day. Let me answer your questions. First of all, it is not everything the writer of a book or movie chooses to spell out for the reader/audience, some times it is more thrilling when you are left guessing and allowed to come up with the interpretations yourself. With that said, the story is complete.

Now, let me deal with each individual question you asked.

"1 is wat was d offer dat Ahmed gave Yusuf."
I Made Him an Offer He couldn't Refuse...this is a reference to a line used well in the Godfather movie. If you have watched the movie series, you will have an idea what it means.

"2 is for d fact dat Ruth and Ahmed kiss dos not guarantee Ahmed not changing his mind after 7days."
Nothing is certain in life, and I try to make my stories as realistic as possible, and not like Disney fairy tale stories that end happily ever after, or with certainty. I feel it was a great way to end the story, so you the reader make up your mind on what you feel would happen.

"3 is wat really change bimpe mode wasn't talk abt or was I d one dat miss dat part."
ONE THING wasn't responsible for her change of heart...it was series of little happenings, and if you cool down and read the story, you will see the little details.

"4 is whom yussuf is to bimpe is not clear."
It is very clear. She stated it right from the beginning when she said she needed him around to chase off other potential toasters. He was like her school boyfriend, while Yusuf was her real boyfriend, but he knew his boundaries.

"5 is Ruth notice a guy among yussuf friends but not explain."
It was explained. Read the lines below from the story...especially the part in capital letter.

' Ruth looked over to where the girl in red was, and she saw her cursing out some guy she recognized from campus. She saw another guy step out of the SUV he had come out of, and she was sure he was the one she thought he was; QUIET LOOKING GUY WHO MOVED AROUND CAMPUS WITH LOUSY FRIENDS.'

Once again...this is a complete story, even though everything is not laid out for you...you have to just think a little to get it.

Chapter 6

There was always at least hundred crates of egg in the store at the back of his house for old customers that come around every once in a while, so getting fifty crates for the woman was no problem. He had dropped off forty five crates at her fast food restaurant, and now he was on the way to the woman’s house, with one of their cleaners.

He didn’t usually handle delivery this way, but he believed that series of small events would probably lead to the big magical moment he had been waiting for, so he didn’t mind dropping off the eggs when she asked him. “Slow down sir, we will soon turn.” The skinny middle aged woman said. It was weird hearing her refer to him as ‘sir’ when he was positive she was at least ten years older than him.

They got off the express way onto a dirt road, and then drove for a couple of minutes before taking a right turn into a quiet street. “That’s the house. You can park anywhere.” The lady said and, pointing to a cream colored duplex, a few meters away from them on the right. He brought the SUV to a halt in front of the building gate and turned off the engine. “Please sir, you will take me back?” The lady asked as she unfastened her seatbelt. It was more like a rhetorical question. Efe nodded. She got out of the car, opened the back door and pulled out the crates of egg.

The gate was opened before she even got to it. She went in and he was about to pull out his phone from his jeans pocket and go through his messages when he heard the sound of a car horn. He shifted the rearview mirror so he got a good view of his right side, and he saw a white saloon car backing out of the house. He turned the key in the ignition, moved out of the way and parked in front of the next house. The car pulled out, was driving off at first, but slowed down and parked on the other side of the road a couple of meters away from him.

Although he hadn’t gotten a good look at her that night, he recognized her immediately she dropped from the car. There was no way he could miss that body; real curvy and thick. But she was wearing glasses and dressed very casual today. When it was clear to him she was coming over to see him, he dropped from the 4Runner, and straightened out the black denim shirt he had on. She was wearing a white camisole, brown colored skirt suit, with brown pumps too match.
“Hello sir.” She said as she approached him.
“Hey, how are you doing?” Efe said with a smile on his face.
She smiled back at him and said, “I guess you’ve met Kehinde. I’m Taiwo.”
