Evening Gazzuzz, my 06 corolla threw up check engine light three weeks ago and after a week it went off by itself. After about ten days d check engine light came back and I decided to scan. The result is PO0741, Torque converter clutch circuit Performance or stuck off. i have not notice any change in car performance.Pls should I be worry, and pls what can I do. Thank u sir.

Pls I need your input and advice as am about to make a very big career decision.
I work in a financial institutions in Abuja and to some extent, I can reliably tell u that I know the nitigrity of this job to the admiration of all. But the problem is, salary does not commensurate with my role. My company makes a lot of money but dish out peanut to staff as salary, except for some few. My salary is 200k which is rather too small for my role. I handle some very sensitive aspect of the biz (there are things that only me knows how to to do,pls am not bragging); Even when am on leave, they just have to wait for me. There was a year I was 'begged' not to go on leave just to work yet no monetary compensation, my company is just too stingy. After 5 years, I started looking for another place and I recently secured a new job, salary is 450k but they claim I will have to be on contract for one year before they will absorb me so as to be sure I really know d job as claimed, am not really bothered because I sabi wella. The prob is, I resigned my appointment with my company hoping to resume with this other coy as I already accept their offer letter only for my MD to call me that he's pleading with me not to leave his company, that he will pay whatever they are offering me. I know he's capable of paying, Something similar happen eight month ago to another staff and she decided to accept our MD offer and she stays and shes still working now and not complaining. The truth is. Most of d I'll treatment I have endure in my former place is not known to my MD, and I think it's true because he's always out of the country, like 8 month abroad and 4 month in Nigeria. Some colleagues think i
should leave while others think i should have a rethink. What do you guys think. The job am doing now is still what I will be doing if I leave. Transport is thesame.

now to your present issue.

Your engine starting and running smooth, does not mean every thing is well within your engine, I have seen serious buildup of sludge in vehicles that were thought to be maintained properly.

I will advice you start your switch to 5w30 gradually.

Start by switching to a 40weight. (0w40 or 5w40 or 15w40) good brand full synthetic. Run it for 4000miles and watch your engine oil dipstick every morning to ensure no oil burn.

If this works out, next oil change switch to full synthetic 5w30 (good reliable brand)

If it does not workout (oil burns) switch back to any good brand of 20w50 oil and change oil between 3000-5000kms max.

You should be fine.

Pls i need your opinion on this.

I bought a nig used 03 Camry XLE just a month ago from someone who wants to relocate to the state.(He's gone now)
I know the owner, i know hes relocating, i knew when he bought the car as tokunbo (May 2016), he has a fairly good maintenance culture, he does not even have a mechanic of his own, car was neat and i did not bother to call a mechanic for inspection (God forgive me). The car was bought in May 2016 as evident from all document. This has been established. Mileage is 245,000 (that was my ONLY concern) when he sold it to me.
I notice a service sticker on the windscreen of the car that shows, perhaps , the last time it was service in New york b4 it was brought into Nig. The mileage on that sticker was 222,400 and date was Nov 2015. I bought the car from the direct owner and i observed he's been using Oando Engine oil 20W-50 to service the car. My route is Magodo-VI (mon-fri) and for a month i have a smooth ride with the car. As at today, I have not spent a kobo on it except for fuel.I have read alot on NL about the right engine oil and i know this oil no be the correct one. 1 want to service the car by end of this month.
I spoke to the former owner about the oil and he said that was what a mechanic recommend when he bought the car in May 2016. He does not even have a personal mechanic because car has been good without any issue since. Car is very neat up till now. My concern is this, would you recommend i switch to the recommended/synthetic oil, or i should jejely continue with what this guy has been using. Some tech guys on NL says car could start shortening oil, leaking if i change oiletc. Pls what do u recommend Sir. I dont want to mess up this car.
