Piponomics: Which charts are you looking at? I have never held a trade for two weeks apart from last December when we enjoyed BOJ...Like I said my main strategy has a TP of 200pips. I scout entries on the 1hr with a 4hr based filter. So at times the 200pips get hit in 24hours(like the last EJ move) or 48 hours maximum, other times I could be stopped out at a loss, breakeven, 100pips or even 10pips but at the end of the day the big moves balance things when they happen. People that hold trades for two weeks trade systems based on the daily and scout entries from the 4hour.

@ thread, i am looking at some potential longs on ej, oil and gold. Will be surer half way into the japanese session. 5am should provide some direction.

A non-forex book I want to recommend for the Professional traders and the Amateur trader: THE OUTLIERS by Malcolm Gladwell. It looks at success not by the crude way we tend to judge it, but by how it really is. My Fav Quote is "People ascribe Bill Gates 60billion dollars to his being very intelligent, I know a lot of very intelligent people who don't have 60billion and who may never get it. The secret is to put a lot of time into a particular task for the shortest possible time. That rule is the 10,000hr rule." The practicality in that rule is that if 10hours a day is spent study the forex market and reading forex materials, by the 3rd year, you will be a genuis in Forex. Genuises are made not born.

Piponomics: Hello Sir.
I really don't like telling people what to do regarding strategy but looking for 20pips a day is a recipe for disaster. I should know cos I also thought it was the best way to go back in my early days. Unless you already have an account balance that will allow you trade with 1.0 lot size, you'll be running around in circles. You can make 20pips for 3 days and one loss will cancel out everything and you are back to square one. With a well capitalised account, even if you are left with 100pips at the end of the month you can still do expenses.
Anyday I have the chance to stare at the screen all day, I scalp too but my main strategy has 200pips as target. With that, two full TP's hit will leave me me very comfortable for the rest of the month.
Think about it well and try doing it on a demo to see what results will be. Forget backtests.

ayox2003: I'm so happy for you, bro! Keep planning. I'd strongly advice that u place buy-stops and sell-stops wherever u smell breakouts, supports and resistances. Thats what I do these days.

Birikiti: My thoughts exactly! Looks like some 200 - 300 pips waiting to be harvested! But my trade plan is still 50 pips at a time; so I'll just chop and run plenty times hopefully!
