During the discussion, they noted that calls for a president from Nigeria’s South-East have become part of wider national political conversations, especially as political parties, regional blocs and voters begin to assess possible alignments ahead of 2027.

Abati and Rufai argued that while the South-East conversation is politically legitimate, Nigeria’s constitutional framework does not prevent any eligible citizen from any region from contesting for the presidency.

Their comments come amid renewed public debate over zoning, inclusion and national balance in the country’s power-sharing arrangement.

Supporters of a South-East presidency have frequently argued that the region should be considered in future leadership calculations in the interest of equity, inclusion and national cohesion. Nobody is against south east presidency but the manner most of them goes about it, is so orthodox. they think attacking, insulting and try bullying others will make them achieved it. the have missed a quicker route now and there is no pathway to igbo presidency in 2027. politically, Wike is far bigger than Uzodinma. Wike singlehandedly chase Atiku and his boys from pdp, a former vice president. For starters, NDC was registered by order of the court, the only body that can appeal that judgement is INEC, and the window for appeal has elapse

Few days ago Nigerian polity was agog with jubilation after his excellency Mr Peter Obi announced his defection to Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).

What many do not know is that NDC was registered by Senator Dickson Seriake in February 2026 few weeks after Peter Obi had a close door meeting with him.

Senator Dickson is the former Governor of Bayelsa state , the same state as Nigeria's former President, Goodluck Johnathan.

While Peter Obi was paying visits to Goodluck Johnathan in Otueke, there were rumors that the former President was set to contest for Presidency under NDC .

This made president Tinubu didn't care about the NDC .

While Tinubu focused on destabilizing Labour Party and ADC , while INEC was busy frustrating the registration of political parties they suspected to be from Peter Obi's people.....

What Akpabio was thinking. Oshiomohle will surely have an upper hand against him cos he remain the closest ally of Tinubu from south south. he was initially penciled down by Tinubu as is preferred Senate president but first time rule which has been the Senate norm made it unable for oshiomohle to be Senate president. Akpabio is too desperate and he will not become Senate president from June next year when they convene the next Senate, except Tinubu intervene.
