Getting admission in Universities abroad is not automatic for 2-1 candidates, especially if you are applying to a very competitive program. There are other factors to consider like time of application (there is usually a planned limit for intakes and admission officers consider applicants on a first-come first-serve basis), prerequisite courses (there are certain courses you need to have passed with a C atleast, in your undergrad), statement of purpose (a convincing one will earn you points that will make up for lost ones) and even good results from an english proficiency test even though it's not a general requirement (again, this can also earn you points when the competition is really stiff)... Work experience in a related field/industry can also come in handy for some programs but I think it's mostly considered for applicants with low grades.

And yes, don't even put more than one egg in a basket... the more baskets, the better your chances (basic rule of probability wink)

All the best
thks for the advice....

Yeah you did. I normally advice friends to be ready to apply to 3 or 4 schools just to be safe. And since you have a 2.1 (hopefully a strong one) 3 will be just fine.
You could check out schools like MUN, Ottawa, Manitoba, SFU, Dalhousie...if they have the course you'll prefer. From what I know these schools are not crazy expensive and still have good rankings.
All the best!
thks alot..am alreading lookn @ uni of manitoba. .would update you on how its goin if u dont mind....

Lol..it's She sir

If you don't mind though, could you list the schools that turned you down and how good is your UG result?...if it's not a 2.1 and above, then you'll most likely have difficulty getting admission from a Uni
I have a 2:1..was turned down by U of R twice..guess I madr d mistake of puttn all ma eggs in 1 basket..tho I did it on advice from a couz who is based round d sch

bro u should have said something when u where denied ADM the first time. You see back then in part 5 I was in your shoes doing the same stuff and getting refusal as well. Back then I got lot of advise from my brothers and sisters in this forum. Which I will also pass down to uyou as well. U see ebout ADM in canada, u might be anxious to apply to wan of top schools to have a good grade, stuff like that you no like things just easy like that blabla like that... But brother you sef go sabi as things they go naw, nigerian are not the only international student going to canada, canada host most of the world International student therefore it is highly competitive to get ADM in schools that most of the student focus on, schools like U of A U of OTTAWA like that u no. And if u don't have solid good grades from here it will be a Difficult, so try to do some research very well try a college with less student that not highly comp. Believe me this was the advice I got from brodas. Dedicated to chrigo, and wan broda like that (fine flex) abi NA (fine boy) sef

Thks bro....I willl do jus dat..is there any oda fn u can advise me to do while applying to thr colleges...am really open to advise nw...thk you

You dont need to write IELTS exam if your chosen university does not mandate it. Also, make sure your chosen course is on SOL or CSOL list. Sponsorship is hard for social sciences, I would recommend social work rather than human resources. the $23k is for one year o bro.
Lastly, aged care is the easiest job to get, although you can get other casual jobs too.

@ surveyor1..wow...am really confused
.the thing is I wnt a 2yrs course cause I heard afta 2yrs I would have the opportunity to apply for the pr....do you think a 1yr course would qualify me for a pr or sumfn...thank you

good day! I hold a bsc in sociology from a nigeria university and want to apply for a masters in human resource management. ...I have a few questions about admission into Australian universities

1.Do I need to write the Ielts exams before applying to a school or after I have been admitted by a school
2.what regional areas in Australia have good and affordable schools which I can apply to..as I heard regional areas hv more coys and more chances of getting a sponsored pr
3.Wht type of jobs are available for students in australia
4.I checked up on na school and its fees for international students for the master coursework was about $23000..those this amount for the full 2yrs of the masters course or its jus for a year fees...

Please help me out....thank you
