use the raw_input function and assign it to a variable then use the variable as the key to your dictionary as in
MyKey = raw_input('enter your key')
MyDict = {MyKeywhatever you want here)}

if you're entirely new to programming, I'll advice you to start with python as it will teach you enough programming concept without discouraging with complex syntax. however java is more suitable for mobile apps development but the learning curve will be steeper.
