In this chilling real-life footage from Abuja, watch as professional fumigators discover and remove a HUGE cobra that emerged straight from the toilet during a routine home treatment! 😱🐍 The homeowner, Uche Nworah, Ph.D., explains how his apartment's connection to the city's central sewage system allowed the deadly snake to slither in through drainage pipes—exactly the risk many ground-floor residents face.
This happened in 2024, but it hits harder now after the heartbreaking death of rising singer Ifunanya Nwangene (Nanyah Music), who was bitten by a snake (possibly cobras found in her home) while sleeping in Abuja on Jan 31, 2026.
So sad this lady with a golden voice is gone. RIP to her. What's even the essence of God creating snakes. Very creepy dangerous thing that should be killed at sight
fergie001: PRESS STATEMENT FROM THE FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE ABUJA
CLARIFICATION ON RECENT EVENTS REGARDING THE CASE OF LATE IFUNANYA LUCY NWANGENE
We wish to address the circulating discussion on social media concerning the unfortunate case of Ms. Ifunanya Lucy Nwagene, who tragically passed away due to neurotoxic complications following a snake bite on January 31, 2026.
First and foremost, we express our deepest condolences to the Nwagene family during this incredibly difficult time. The loss of a loved one is never easy, and our thoughts are with them.
We want to clarify that the management team at Federal Medical Centre, Abuja acted promptly and with the utmost care upon Ms. Nwagene's arrival. Our medical staff provided immediate and appropriate treatment, including resuscitation efforts, intravenous fluids, intranasal oxygen, and the administration of polyvalent snake antivenom.
After a thorough but quick evaluation, it was clear that Ms. Nwagene suffered severe neurotoxic complications from the snake bite. Despite all efforts to stabilize her condition and transfer her to the Intensive Care Unit for further treatment, she experienced a sudden deterioration just before the transfer. Our team of professionals worked diligently to provide CPR and other life-saving measures; however, despite these efforts, we were unable to revive her.
We stand by the quality of care and dedication our team demonstrates daily. The claims of non-availability of anti-snake venom and inadequate response are unfounded and do not reflect the reality of the situation. We are committed to transparency and integrity in our practices and will continue to pursue excellence in patient care.
In light of these events, we encourage our community to engage with credible sources for information and updates rather than relying on social media speculation. We remain available for any further inquiries or clarifications.
Thank you for your understanding.
DR. BIOKU MUFTAU, HEAD OF CLINICAL SERVICES FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE, ABUJA 1st February 2026.
I've been a guest in this site since 2016/2017 this made me create account yesterday lol 😂
lightwind: You are new on nairaland, just a day old here, and your thread is already making front page.
I have been a nairaland member for 15 years now and not a day that mods have pushed my thread to front page even when i begged and cried to Nairalandpolicewoman, Helinues and Yuzedo none of them have ever helped my thread to reach front page. 😔🥺
Thanks dear. I pray this dries up through antibiotics only because I can't imagine the pain he will go through if a syrings/needle are to be used. Make him no journey to the great beyond out of pain and trauma
CJStarz: My initial fear but then, it didn't hurt my boy But then, strong antibiotics will dry it up.
Kobojunkie: Age-related? A second opinion would not hurt at all, since simply saying something is age-related without explaining as to why it happened to the one ear and not the other, or any other tissue in the body, to me is weird as f-ck. Is the ear it happened to older than the other ear? 🥱🥱🥱
Ok but won't it hurt him? I was thinking other way less painful could be used
CJStarz: A medical personnel should put in a syringe and suck out the fluid. Place him on antibiotics. Happened to my then 16 year old back then. A doctor sucked out the slimy liquid substance and placed him on a strong antibiotics. It's gone. 5 years going now, no more swelling.
Are you human at all? Must you comment if you don't have something to say. If only they do mental test on people before their admission into this site, your likes who lack emotion intelligence won't be here
I saw something like this on Gemini. He will likely be in severe pain through this process. If only they is a less pain way of getting this off his ears I'll really appreciate
motymop: Was your grand father a boxer or wrestler when he was young?
They call this stuff cauliflower ears, very common among boxers, kick boxers and boxers
what most of them do is to use a stringe and suck out the blood from it.
He said it to be age related that the inflammation will reduce
Kobojunkie: Why would a medical practitioner give you medication without telling you exactly what the problem is that the medication is meant to treat? 🤔
Kobojunkie: What did the medical practitioner tell you caused the inflammation in his ear? What was the diagnosis? Please explain what you were told to us. Search Google for more information to help you understand what you were told, if needed. 🥱🥱🥱
He's around 80 years... maybe or maybe not a age related issue. Talking about sleeping one sided he normally does sleep one sided though I'm not comfortable seeing it
richiemcgold: OP this is what chatGPT told me about the picture you posted:
I’m not a doctor, but I can share some likely possibilities based on how this looks and the fact that he’s elderly. A proper diagnosis would require a clinician to examine him. Possible causes of this ear swelling Chondrodermatitis nodularis helicis (CNH) Common in elderly men A painful, firm swelling on the ear cartilage Often caused by long-term pressure, such as sleeping on one side for years Blood supply to ear cartilage reduces with age, making it vulnerable
We bought some medications for him today but I still need more info what really caused this
Kobojunkie: Pray? Look into it? You don't want to take your grandfather immediately to the hospital, why? You want it to be less serious so he can continue walking around with inflamed ear and tissue because? 🤔🤔
we will look into it. I pray it's something less serious
Kobojunkie: How is his mental health? Why did he allow this to get this bad? Is he not in pain? 🤔🤔🤔
My suggestion is that you take him straight to the hospital so a doctor can better diagnose him and possibly find out any other issues may have been keeping to himself. In the year 2026, going to hospital as soon as one detects an issue should have become normalized by adults. 🤔🤔
