This is so painful even to read. Their only crime was being in a country where leaders care only about the next election and not about the electorate. I can only imagine the state of the mother of that girl. The trauma of uncertainty over their fate for several months finally ended by the tragic confirmation of their gruesome deaths over nothing.

This is very good. If Bola Tinubu continues along his undemocratic path, then the international community must begin to look at the possibility of IMPOSING SANCTIONS ON HIM AND AGENTS OF HIS GOVERNMENT

fergie001:
This case the person posted is cut-and-join.... Let me take you down memory lane; Akapo Vs Hakeem-Habeeb & Ors.

Akapo was elected Chief Ojora of Lagos to handle properties scattered all over Lagos owned by the Ojora family; The family has a Constitution (Terms of Settlement) enacted 17/12/64 that the Chief Ojora as head & other members of the Family Council (involving extended family members) are responsible for collecting all levies and rents from their many properties in Lagos,12 must form a quorum. Due to deaths, they hadn't formed a quorum for a long time hence on 22/4/84, they removed Akapo in a meeting not convened by him. The family continued as before to share rent until dissatisfied that Akapo was still benefitting, some members on 1/4/85, drove out all persons, seized the receipt books including cash in one of their properties and on 7/4/85, formed a caretaker committee (excluding Akapo) to oversee collection of all rents and levies in all their properties and published same on newspapers This committee started managing and renting out offices to persons blocking same from the Chief Ojora, Akapo.

Akapo went to the Lagos High Court, that he wanted all monies returned, injunction barring the said caretaker committee from entering or leasing any of the offices or properties belonging to the Ojoras, that he is also entitled to same as Chief Ojora. The High Court said No, he didn't suffer any damages and it will not grant the injunction because he didn't file the suit quick enough, again, the properties needed to be managed hence granting the injunction will have effect on the management, hence all monies to be collected by the caretaker committee be paid to the Lagos State Registry pending when the suit is successfully dealt with.

Akapo went to the Appeal Court and by 1-2 lost again, he approached the Supreme Court and won. The Supreme Court held that any meeting not convened by him cannot stand and granted the injunction but again in law, you look at the lead judgement. Other supporting or opposing judgements, are called orbiters, and are not quoted or used as base/foundation.
Mind you, this was an interlocutory appeal.

The lead Judgement was read by Justice Karibi-Whyte on 10/7/92. Nnaemeka Agu was just a member of a panel of 5, but I will still deal with the matter here;

Some things are instructive:
1. There was some disagreement prior to the formation of the caretaker committee.

2. There was no meeting because of the lack of quorum.

3. Any meeting must be convened by the Chief Ojora, Akapo.

status quo Vs status quo ante are both restraining orders urging parties to hold forth.

In "Mr. Kolawole Oronti Vs Alhaji S. A. Onigbanjo (2012)":
The Supreme Court, per Mary Odili JSC held "
“…Status quo ante bellum means the state of affairs existing before the case was filed.”

This is the latest Supreme Court Judgement and will hold fast and trite than the previous ones. The very slight difference is that whilst status quo talks about State of matters as it were, status quo ante is before the war.

Now to ADC.

David Mark & Aregbesola were brought in on July 2 (on interim basis). They hadn't started acting at the time despite the speeches they made, they were only pre-coronated. That they were endorsed did not mean they had taken over. They didn't carry out one administrative function on or before July 29.
There was no forceful takeover.
On Nafiu's now-deleted Facebook posts, he was backing Mark and co as far as July 11.

A NEC meeting was held by the highest ruling organ of the Party, NEC and monitored and approved by INEC on July 29 where formal handover took place. By July 31, Nafiu held a press conference that he is the Acting National Chairman. Let me pause here:-

Decisions of NEC are binding and final. So, even if Bala or any other exco had claimed not to have resigned, they have been caught up by NEC decisions. When Oshiomhole and Giadom had their fight, APC NEC dissolved the whole NWC even though some of these excos were not involved in the fight. Leadership and membership issues are within the internal affairs of a political party and the Court is divested from delving into such matters (except since 2023 for obvious reasons).

Nafiu had filed his suit on Sept 4 but as at July 29, David Mark had started his job. Before July 29, Nwosu was in-charge.

If I agree without conceding INEC and/or your position, when did the hostilities start? Before Sept 4? Before July 29?

By virtue of the latest Supreme Court Judgement on this, the suit was filed Sept 4, 25; a period David Mark was already Chairman.
INEC claims David Mark it endorsed David Mark on Sept 9, so does INEC have the rights to dabble into leadership issues? So why did Nafiu file a suit against someone whom INEC doesn't recognise according to the Commission?

To end this: The new Electoral Act 2026: Section 83(5):
“Subject to the provision of subsection (3), no Court in Nigeria shall entertain jurisdiction over any suit or matter pertaining to the internal affairs of a political party.”

Hopefully, we can follow Congresses leading to the April 14 Convention of the ADC

Sugarboyy:
You don't know anything about APC in-house politics. You are just an APC nairaland lover that knows nothing happening behind closed doors.
Prior to Oshiomhole becoming APC national chairman, the position was zoned to the SS and because Edo state was the only APC State as at then and Oshiomhole was still a governor, Oshiomhole presented Oyegun to becoming APC chairman because Oyegun was politically dead and irrelevant before then.
When Oshiomhole finished as governor, Oyegun was asked to step down for him but he refused and because of Oshiomhole closeness with Tinubu, Tinubu used his bargaining powers with Buhari to get Oshiomhole the position.
Aside the Tinubu Yoruba political boys, Oshiomhole is the only organic Tinubu boy and this started right from 2007 when Tinubu helped him to win at the court under the Action Congress. If you are not aware, under Oshiomhole as governor, Hi-tech that's owned by Tinubu and his Lebanese friend were involved in 90% of roads that were done in Edo state.
Heavy dose of bulls**t. Lies and exaggerations. Oshiomhole was ousted because he couldn't keep up with the standard of decency that Oyegun had established. He was running the nwc in his house in Maitama and screened governorship candidates in his house in Aso drive. He was always shouting like he was on drugs. He even summoned heads of agencies to his office saying that Buhari was too weak to control them. Oshiomhole became a tyrant after he took over from Oyegun. The primaries were a dollar mobilisation spree... charging people for tickets. It is hard to imagine a more rascally person in any office than adams osho baba. APC was sinking

I and my husband earn 6 figures, even though he earns higher than me but we combine resources to make our lives better. We shared responsibilities at home 70:30 ratio. He takes care of 70% of responsibilities while I take care of the remaining 30%.
My husband is responsible for 70% of the rent, I take care of the remainder 30%

Bills he takes care of everything

School fees he takes care of it we have two girls, my oldest daughter is in Basic 1. And the other is in pre Nursery. There school fees combined is almost 1.2 million per term,

Feeding I take care of that though my husband supports too, but I mainly take care of that.

Other miscellaneous stuffs he takes care of his own, while I take care of my own. I fuel my car and service it, he fuels his own too.

If I leave my husband to do everything we would leave in misery, it would be overbearing for him, our rent in Gwarimpa Abuja 1st Avenue is 3.5mil per year. My husband is building our house at Lokogoma.

So if I don't help him out how would he achieve some of these things.

It pains me that some lazy Nigerian women depend solely on their husband for everything, I have a friend who even calls her husband to buy maggi 50 naira and I was like WTF!!!! It's really disgusting
This one na beta wife. The husband is very fortunate
FamilyRe: My Wife Isn't Adding Any Value To My Life by kenben(m): 8:21am On Mar 09
The truth about such women is that the day she has to work and sweat for her own money she would be convinced that she married the wrong man. Disrespect and disregard will increase tremendously and cheating may likely follow.

Also, if you leave her and she is pretty ,she will immediately slide into the hands of another man. The failure here is one of upbringing. Her parents never impacted in her the need to take personal responsibility for her own growth. She therefore sees marriage as responsibility outsourcing.

Generally, to have a woman who does nothing in this day and age is the most irritating burden that any serious minded man would have to bear.

I can also predict that except changes are made and character is adjusted to meet expectations, that marriage is in its final days.

'Pay Up Your Debt": APC Call Charges ADC Nat'l Leader, Odigie-Oyegun

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has called on a former national chairman of the party — Chief John Odigie-Oyegun to promptly pay his outstanding debts to the party. The debts according to APC arose from alleged loans and accumulated membership dues spanning several years when he was listed as member of the party.

According to a release signed by the Edo State APC Chairman, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, the call became necessary after the former governor of Edo State allegedly refuse to respond to official demands for the settlement of the debts, which he claimed are in excess of N150million.

"The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State wishes to inform the general public that as a law abiding people-centred political organization, that we have demanded debts owed by the National Chairman of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.

"The said debts forms part of loans that were advanced to the former governor of our dear state when he served as a national chairman of APC.

"Our records reveal also accumulated membership dues which ADC national leader refused to pay to our party's coffers all through the period of his membership of APC.

"This open demand had become necessary due to the outright refusal by Chief Oyegun to settle his commitment to the APC, the party that gave him space to tower politically." The Edo State APC Chairman, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe stressed.
Jarret Tenebe the over bleached Edo APC chairman is always looking for relevance in the most nuseating manner. Only a fooool will believe this laughable falsehood.

PoliticsADC, Obidient Collaboration Will Unseat APC - John Odigie-oyegun by kenben(op): 11:16pm On Jan 22
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has expressed confidence that the collaboration between the party and the Obidient Movement will dislodge the All Progressives Congress from power in 2027.

Odigie-Oyegun, a former National Chairman of the APC, spoke on Monday in Benin during the mass defection of members of the Obidient Movement into the ADC in Edo State.

The development comes weeks after former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, formally joined the ADC.

Welcoming the Obidient Movement on Monday, Odigie-Oyegun said the influx of the Obidient Movement into the party signalled the readiness of Nigerians, particularly the youth, to engage in in the struggle for a leadership change and national rebirth.

According to him, the calibre of individuals joining the ADC reinforces the belief that a new Nigeria is achievable.

“A new Nigeria is truly possible,” Odigie-Oyegun said.

“A few days ago, I was in a hall when a colourful and important personality, Dele Momodu, joined us. Today is the first time I am seeing youths who are genuinely committed to nation-building. It is also my first time meeting members of the Obidient Movement in this number, and we are convinced that the youth of this country are ready.”

He described the decision of the Obidient Movement to join the ADC as a deliberate choice to take ownership of the struggle for change.

“You have decided to take up the struggle yourselves by joining the ADC, and I am happy. From the day this coalition came together, I was convinced that we are on the right path,” he said.

Odigie-Oyegun said dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs in the country and Edo State should serve as motivation for collective action.

“We have one target: we have a country to save. We must ensure that through the ADC, we make a new Nigeria possible,” he added.

Also speaking, the Edo State Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Asemota Idiogbe, said the ADC provided the most viable platform to challenge the APC both in Edo State and at the national level.

“This is the right party to battle the APC in Edo and Nigeria. ADC will take over Edo and the country,” he said.

Idiogbe expressed optimism that the party would field Peter Obi as its presidential candidate and eventually produce the next president.

"We expect Peter Obi to be the President. We are here to strengthen the party, not to ask for positions. We will influence the masses to vote for the ADC. The party is for people who want a better Nigeria,” he said.

He added that leaders of the Obidient Movement were instrumental in building the Labour Party, but insisted that the movement had now fully merged into the ADC.

“We are self-funded. We do not share money to mobilise people. Some of those who won on our platform betrayed us and joined the APC,” he said.

The Edo State Chairman of the ADC, Kenneth Odion, welcomed the Obidient Movement into the party, saying the development positioned the ADC for strong electoral performance in future elections.

The State Woman Leader, Faith Ebodaghe, described the ADC as a rescue platform, urging women to play an active role in the political struggle.

“The ADC is on a rescue mission. We are the David sent to confront Goliath. With our voter cards, we will bring down the APC,” she said.

“The pain is enough. When we deliver, the pain will be no more. Women must be ready to fly and change the narrative"
