Bugaje, who is a former member of the House of Representatives, stated that the current problem (electoral fraud), which had denied the nation of having credible leadership, was traceable to the annulment carried out by IBB.
Bugaje said that Nigeria would have ranked among some of the advanced democracies in the world if the former military ruler had allowed the result of the 1993 presidential poll to stand.
He urged Nigerians to reject IBB, saying his act had drawn the whole country backward for close to 20 years. He said that such an anti-democratic force should not be allowed near the presidency because he would worsen the nation’s problems.
He noted that the nation had not achieved its full potential for greatness because many of those in political offices rigged their way there, adding that that was the reason they engaged in looting treasuries rather than working for the people.
Bugaje said that those who rigged also stole from the public treasury to buy victory at tribunals to retain themselves in offices, adding that as long as they continued in that way, it would be impossible to meet the expectation of the people for good governance.
