Rapmoney: One particular thing about the older Mellenials is that they transited in dating from one era to another...yes, the era of no electronic gadgets to an era that ushered the advent of electronic gadgets and social media.
Below are characteristics of 80s and 90s romance and dating.
1. Getting a response from a girl could take up to one, two, or even three months. Some of us never got any response till we stopped seeing each other.
2. If you impregnate a girl as a young man, the whole area would know because the girl's parents and extended family members would bring fight to your parents' house. 80s and 90s things.
3. There was no phone, tab, or social media. We used to send handwritten letters to our crush through someone. Back then, writing the letter was not a problem. The problem was who would deliver it to her?
4. There were stricter parents then. You would most likely talk to a girl if she was on errands, or sending a trusted person to call her from home. You dare not near her house. Her father's lion's roar would make you scamper for safety. Some boys chop beating sef.
5. There was no social media. You would not be bothered that your partner was chatting or communicating with someone else.
6. Long distance relationship was equal to maximum torture. If you send letter to your babe in Lagos and you dey Warri, she would receive it from Nigeria Postal Service after 3 months. Then you must have been in another relationship.
7. You could date a girl for 6 months, and you have not seen her pants. Nor be joke!
8. Baby mama was not common as it is today. If you give girl belle, dem go force you to marry her. Before 6pm that same day, her bags would be in your house. Na so Bros Ogbole take marry albino that year.
9. Many people entered relationships with marriage as the intention. Today, many people dey inside situationships
10. You could stay for days or weeks without speaking with your girlfriend/boyfriend, and both of you reside in same town. How una wan take see?
11. Guys that were fainthearted and could not toast females paid other bold guys to talk to babes they liked on their behalf. Some mischievous guys utilized the opportunities and converted the girls to theirs.
12. People bought request cards on radio to dedicate love songs to their partners at night. We disturb Radio Delta that year, nor be small.
13. There was no billing for iPhones and Peruvian hairs. Gifts were modest.
14. If una venture quarrel for inside relationship, just know say the quarrel fit reach 2 months if care is not taken.
15. Reputation mattered a lot. E get the kind person wey your parents go warn you say deh nor wan see you with again.
16. Having a date was simple. You could share one meat pie and a bottle of Fanta with your date. Please don't try that in these modern times, or else you go enter social media.
Last words: Even if every era has its own challenges, I usually view this with a nostalgic feeling.
NgeneUkwenu: That is how it should be. Nigeria is not a lawless country. Law is no respecter of anybody or any organisation. Kudos to the INEC for doing the needful.
May God Bless Nigeria!
You all talk about law, yaya bello is contesting... How on earth are we all together in this country...

Concerns are emerging that growing anti-immigrant sentiment could boil over into widespread civil unrest similar to the July 2021 Riots.
Worryingly, there is also uncertainty about whether South Africa’s police and defence forces would be able to weather a crisis of this magnitude, in light of revelations before the Madlanga Commission.
This is feedback from the Bureau for Economic Research’s Natasha Marrian, who warned that South Africa faces a looming deadline – 30 June 2026.
This is the deadline set by the anti-immigration movement for all illegal foreign nationals to leave South Africa.
It comes as South Africa has seen a sharp rise in anti-immigrant sentiment over the past few months, which has started boiling over into widespread street protests and vigilante action.
A citizen-led movement, ‘March and March’, has been at the forefront of protests against illegal immigration, aggressively campaigning for stricter enforcement and mass deportations.
March and March issued a public ultimatum for all undocumented foreign nationals in South Africa to leave the country voluntarily by 30 June, threatening a national shutdown should this not happen.
However, President Cyril Ramaphosa has rejected the deadline, saying it was unnecessary and that the government was doing all it could to address concerns about the crisis of illegal immigration.
Now, Marrian said ANC party insiders are concerned that “the growing proximity between elements of the anti-immigrant movement and former president Jacob Zuma’s MK Party could increase the risk of unrest, similar to that witnessed in July 2021”.
She said this is a particular risk in the run-up to the 4 November local government election, and, concerningly, South Africa may not be prepared to weather such a storm.
Marrian said KwaZulu-Natal has emerged as a focal point for migrants seeking to leave South Africa, with many being moved to Durban’s Sherwood suburb from Gauteng and the Western Cape.
“The South African government is now moving to deport people from the site. Another makeshift refugee camp was set up by the provincial government in eThekwini on Thursday,” she said.
“It is set to be temporary, to relieve the pressure of the Sherwood camp, which has grown to over 10,000 people.”
The government has also launched an interministerial committee, chaired by Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi.
This committee has been tasked with developing a five-point response plan focusing on border security, law enforcement, humanitarian support, international relations, and improvements to Home Affairs systems and data integration.
“While the committee’s interventions are important, most are medium- to long-term,” Marrian said.
“It has yet to outline a detailed security response to the immediate risks surrounding the 30 June deadline.”
Ramaphosa has warned groups mobilising around immigration against attempts to destabilise the country, yet this has done little to ease concerns about a potential repeat of the July 2021 riots.
“While Ramaphosa said this week that security forces were on high alert, there are concerns about the police’s ability to weather such a crisis, given their internal instability,” Marrian said.
“This is the result of the tumult at the highest levels, caused by revelations before the Madlanga Commission.”
The Madlanga commission has been investigating claims of corruption and mismanagement at the highest levels of South Africa’s law enforcement agencies.
This investigation has revealed widespread instability in South Africa’s police force, adding to concerns about the force’s ability to handle a crisis similar to the July 2021 Riots.
“Whether Ramaphosa acknowledges it or not, the June 30 deadline looms large over South Africa,” Marrian said.
In the meantime, some groups are looking to dissuade South Africans from taking part in anti-immigrant movements.
For example, four major unions, including the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU), recently issued a statement saying that workers would not be protected if they did not go to work on 30 June.
“We urge workers to report for duty and not place their employment at risk,” they said.
“Removing foreign nationals from workplaces, communities, or public spaces will not reopen factories, repair municipalities, strengthen public healthcare or create sustainable jobs.”

LordLicifer: Yea right! Easier said than done, he will end up paying lawyer more than the money, the case will drag for 20 years and he may lose the case in the end. Besides, the courts have aready given an order. Did you read the article at all? Read, read! Read!
Yeah, our lawyers takes advantage of this situation to exploit their clients. But secondly, he didnt sue the bank, it was merely a court order for the bank to release the money. I believe it was suppose to carry a stipulated date. If that date is not met, then he can proceed to sue the bank for intentionally withholding his money and claim damages.
Estello: Matthew Akinwale Dada, an equipment maintenance technician based in Rivers State, has narrated to FIJ how First Bank of Nigeria and Access Bank have continued to withhold the N500,000 he mistakenly transferred into the First Bank account of his late father-in-law on December 22, 2025.
Speaking with FIJ on Monday, Dada said the money was meant to be sent to his wife, Jemialu Oluwatoyin Janet, for safekeeping ahead of his son’s school fee payment in January. However, he mistakenly transferred the funds to his late father-in-law’s account because both his wife and her father banked with First Bank.
He explained that the transfer was made from his Access Bank account, and every effort to recover the money since the incident occurred has failed, despite repeated complaints to both banks and the submission of a court order.
“I wanted to transfer N500,000 to my wife on December 22, 2025, so she could keep it for my son’s school fees against January, but unfortunately, I mistakenly transferred it to my late father-in-law’s account instead,” Dada told FIJ.

“Both my wife and her father bank with First Bank of Nigeria, but I made the transfer through my Access Bank account.
“Immediately I discovered the mistake, I called Access Bank customer care and explained everything to them. My wife also contacted First Bank customer care, and both banks confirmed that the transaction was successful.”
REPEATED COMPLAINTS YIELDED NO RESULT Despite promptly reporting the erroneous transfer, Dada said both banks repeatedly assured him that the issue would be resolved within 24 hours, but months later, the money remains unreversed.
“I called both First Bank and Access Bank several times and sent emails almost every week,” he said.
“They both responded and kept promising that the issue would be resolved within 24 hours, but nothing positive has happened till this moment.”
COURT ORDER SUBMITTED, YET NO REVERSAL Dada also told FIJ that after several complaints, the banks requested a court order before processing the reversal of the funds.
He said he complied with the directive by submitting the required documents to both banks in February, but the money has still not been refunded.
“At some point, both banks asked for a court order before they could activate the reversal process,” he said.

“I submitted a copy of the court order to Access Bank through email and also submitted the original hard copy to First Bank at its Rumudara branch in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on February 2.
“Still, there has been no positive outcome from both banks.”
ACCESS BANK REQUESTED A FEE FOR VERIFICATION Dada also disclosed that Access Bank later requested his consent to deduct N8,068 from his account for the verification of the court order submitted to First Bank.
He said the bank claimed the verification request came from First Bank.
“On March 3, Access Bank replied to one of my emails concerning the erroneous transfer,” Dada said.
“They asked me to give consent for the deduction of N8,068 from my Access Bank account to verify the authenticity of the court order I submitted to First Bank, claiming that First Bank requested it.
“I gave them written permission to conduct the verification, although I do not know whether the money has been deducted from my account. They, however, acknowledged receipt of my consent.”

When FIJ contacted First Bank via email on Wednesday to ask about the delay in reversing Dada’s funds, the bank responded and promised to look into the matter if Dada resent the court order in PDF format.
“We acknowledge your email regarding the unresolved erroneous transaction. Kindly be informed that we are unable to access the documents provided,” the bank responded.
“We therefore advise that Dada resend the court order in PDF format for further assistance.”
FIJ also contacted Access Bank via WhatsApp on the same day, but the bank did not respond. Subsequently, FIJ sent an email to the bank for comments on the matter.
“This is to acknowledge your mail. Our representative will share an update with you on the matter within 24-72 hours,” Access Bank replied. No other response had been received at press time.

Celebby: Netizens are reeling after Instagram influencer Vera Dijkmans documented her own mid-air meltdown, which has now landed her in massive legal trouble. Known for her massive following and striking photos, Vera proved that not even aviation laws apply to everyone when she decided a nicotine craving was worth grounding an entire aircraft. According to the viral screenshots, the blonde model quite literally detailed her own downfall for the world to see.
The chaos kicked off mid-flight when a cabin crew member woke Vera up from a sleeping-pill-induced nap to offer her food. Annoyed by the disruption and facing severe nicotine withdrawals — having previously claimed she smokes over four packs a day — she decided she couldn't wait the remaining two hours until landing. Instead, Vera locked herself inside the airplane lavatory to chain-smoke, even going as far as to snap a mirror selfie with a lit cigarette in her mouth.
Her actions caught up with her the moment the plane touched down in Mumbai, India. Police officers were already waiting at the gate to escort her to the station. In a tone-deaf update posted from her room at The Oberoi in Mumbai, Vera laughed off the encounter, telling her followers the authorities were "pretty chill" and released her after taking her passport details and asking for her Instagram handle.
The laughter didn't last long, as the full consequences of her actions dropped the very next day. Turkish Airlines officially blacklisted the influencer, canceling her return tickets and issuing her a permanent lifetime ban. To make matters worse, the airline is now taking legal action against her. Because they had to ground and deep-clean the aircraft's entire ventilation system due to her smoking, they are demanding that Vera foot the massive bill for the financial losses.
What could have been a standard flight has now turned into a potential legal nightmare and an incredibly expensive smoke break. Was this a case of severe, uncontrollable addiction, or just an extreme display of influencer entitlement?
This gen.. You don't need to trouble yourself for evidence.. Just chill.. They'll post evidence for you 😆
