PoliticsNigerians Need Better Life Instead Not National Dialogue - Fashola by kenshin17(op):
LAGOS—PRESIDING Bishop of The
Redeemed Evangelical Mission, TREM,
Dr. Mike Okonkwo last Sunday said
majority of the nation’s current
political gladiators navigated their way
to power for their selfish interests and not the interest of the nation and its
teeming masses. Addressing newsmen at the opening
ceremony of this year’s Kingdom Life
Conference tagged, Open Heaven, the
presiding bishop said: “About 90 per
cent of them who are in power today
both at the federal and state levels are there not because they have
something to offer. Nigerian leaders
are not there to develop the country.
Their interest is their personal
interest.” According to him, people voted into
power at the federal and states levels
are not there to develop anything.
“For instance, each time I think of the
South South region of the country that
produces the wealth of the nation and the rate of neglect in the place, you will
be forced to ask yourself, what kind of
human beings who have brains will be
able to sit down and watch such
neglect without thinking of
developing the area. “That is why I said these people are
not honest. If they are, such places
where majority of the nation’s
resources come from, should be
developed to make the indigenes feel
a sense of belonging. So for me until we address such imbalances, I don’t
think we are ready yet to move the
nation forward.” He argued that “we need to put things
right and get people who know that
the purpose of governance is for the
benefit of the people. But the present
structure we have is such that allows
charlatans and cowboys, all in the name of politics, move into
Government Houses because of the
benefits that are there and not
because they have something to offer.
Corruption had been there but the
present magnitude is worrisome. The moment we started exchanging
money for performance and integrity
that was when we started having
more problems.”

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@As the Presidential Committee on the
proposed national Conference
continues its tour of the country,
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde
Fashola has advised the Federal
Government to make life better for Nigerians saying what they need at
the moment was availability of the
basic necessities of life. Governor Fashola, who spoke in
Sokoto while featuring in a special
edition of Channels Television
programme, “SUNRISE”, as part of the
second Retreat of the Nigeria
Governors’ Forum, said the life of the ordinary Nigerian would be improved
through making electricity available,
providing good roads, food and
healthcare adding that these things do
not need a National Dialogue but
meticulous planning, funding and execution. Wondering whether the Conference
was meant to produce a new
constitution for the country, the
Governor asked: “What do the people
want, a better document or better life?
To me, it is better life and that appropriates to power, good roads,
water, food, healthcare and others. “You don’t need to discuss good
roads, the contractors are there, just
find the money and give them. You
don’t need to discuss how to generate
power, GE, Mistibushi and all others are
there. You don’t heed to discuss how to plant maize and yam. Just develop
an agricultural plan and go and
implement it,” the Governor said. He advised that instead of organizing a
fresh conference, the Federal
Government should retrieve the
resolutions reached in the similar
conference in 2006 and implement
them adding: “The truth is that when people begin to get prosperous, the
body of science out there says that
they will be less violent. The reason is
that they begin to seek how to protect
their prosperity. And, therefore, crime
tends to be coming down”. Governor Fashola, who was on the
programme with his Ekiti State
counterpart, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, also
spoke of the split in the Nigerian
Governors’ Forum and his reason for
going to court, saying he sought redress in court because he saw the
split as something rooted in impunity
which, according to him, should not
be allowed to thrive. “I feel a little scandalized that
something as basic as an election by
us, amongst us, leaders of a club, to
put it mildly, could result to such an
unsavoury outcome and that is why I
took the step to go to court; because what is being touted there as a splinter
group has its foundation based on
impunity and an unwillingness to
accept the result of a contest that they
subscribed to.” He described the action as both
unsportsmanlike and bad for the
country adding, “The proceedings are
still afoot, some objections to some
issues and all that. But irrespective of
the outcome of the matter, I think the point that it makes to me is that we will
not stand by and allow impunity
thrive”. He hoped that arbiters of the matter
would take judicial decisions and in
the event make some announcement
one way or the other noting, “But out
there in the open, I believe clearly, and
there is some documentary evidence, in spite of people trying to hide behind
a finger, as it were, suggesting that
they didn’t vote, they didn’t
participate.” Recalling the incident that brought
about the split, Governor Fashola said:
“Out of the 36 governors, 35
Governors attended either by
themselves or by their deputies, 35
votes were counted, results were announced, if you add 16 and 19, you
get 35. So it was really a case of
standing logic upside down in a spirit
that is unsportsmanlike. “I think it is a joke that has gone too
far and I want to use this opportunity
again to appeal, the Governors’ Forum
is not a place where there are victors
and there are vanquished. Our doors
remain open let us show leadership, let us reach out, discuss this issue in a
very fair and firm manner, go out there
as brothers and put this issue behind
us,” he said. Responding to a question on the 2015
General Elections and insinuations that
the country may split in that year,
Governor Fashola, who rather
predicted further improvement in the
nation’s electoral process in 2015, said the nation would emerge from the
elections both stronger and more
united. Noting that just as in the last general
elections in 2011 when some
improvement was recorded, 2015
would not be different, the Governor
declared, “In the last elections, in spite
of all the insinuations and hiccups, there was some improvement. I think
we will get there where after votes
have been cast we take the outcome
like sportsmen.” On the insinuation that the country
may breakup in the next election year,
the Governor dismissed it as mere
imagination noting that it is Nigerians
who tend always to whip up such
sentiments every election year even when experiences of the past election
years have shown the contrary.
“For the insinuation that the country
would break in 2015, I have heard
that before and nothing has changed.
Perhaps what has changed is in the positive. In the last elections, in spite of
all the insinuations and hiccups, there
was some improvement,” the
Governor said adding that nothing
would change negatively in 2015. Asserting that 2015 would prove to
be just another year, the Governor
declared: “It will come and go and we
will continue to live. Some people have
described it as a watershed. Yes 1999
was a watershed, 2003 was a watershed and 2007 was a
watershed. We went through 2011
when they said heavens would fall. “Really, we have been pushing
ourselves to the brink of the wall but
when all is said and done we pull
ourselves back from the brink. So
there will be nothing different in 2015.
I think we will get there where after votes have been cast we take the
outcome like sportsmen,” he said. He expressed the confidence that the
nation would advance to the position
where, after elections were concluded
and results announced, the defeated
contestants would take the results
with equanimity and congratulate the winners adding, “I think it boils down
to that spirit of sportsmanship and I
know we will get there. I am optimistic
that we will change. We are not where
we were in 1999. We have moved”. Frowning at the manner of
preparation for elections in the
country, Governor Fashola noted with
dismay: “When we are preparing for
an election, we prepare as if we are
going to war but we are only going to a contest. Newspaper headlines begin
to carry how many policemen and
soldiers have been moved to election
sites. It makes my skin crawl”. The Governor, who blamed this on the
ethnic sentiments still very prevalent in
the country’s politics, said because
Nigerians do not move around
enough in the country, they tend to
focus more on their immediate environments while they look upon
others with suspicion. “Perhaps we don’t focus enough on
the things that unite us. I am coming
here for the first time and I am glad
that I came because, aside cultural
connections, there are quite a lot to
see in our country. We don’t travel enough. I went round the town. I saw
an economy that is vibrant, that is
moving. People were still moving by
11.30 in the night and for me these
are the kinds of stories that should
really go out,” the Governor said.

PoliticsWhy It Is Difficult For Me To Re- Marry – Oshiomhole by kenshin17(op): 11:16am On Nov 18, 2013
Governor Adams Oshiomhole cele
brated his 5th anniversary as
governor of Edo state last Tuesday in
grand style. After the colourful
occasion, Oshiomhole discussed
national issues and his life as a widower with journalists and he
declared that his greatest regret in life
today is the death of his dear wife
Clara. He spoke on other national
issues. Excerpts:

By SIMON EBEGBULEM, Benin City

It’s your 5th anniversary as Governor of Edo State, but your opponents would feel this elaborate celebration was a waste of state resources

We are not like any other government,
our selling point is the trust line
between the governed and the
government and every responsible
and honest steward must as a matter
of duty and obligation account to his master. I’m the steward of EdoState. I
have the privilege to be entrusted with
the management of the resources of
the state and the state is not made up
of few elites but of people in the rural
areas and as well those in the Urban area. Oshiomhole Oshiomhole In terms of election, the people are
more in number than the elites and so
on the occasion of my 5th anniversary
and my first year in my second term as
I have done over the past four years, it
has been a tradition to face the people and tell them what has changed since
November, 2008 to 2012 and today
but more particularly between last
year and now so that they follow the
progress we are making. If you call that extravagance, well that
was your choice of words but I call it
practical accountability and open
governance. In the trade union world
when you are elected, at a certain
period you hold your meeting, you give report of your achievements and
where you have challenges, you
explain them to the people so I don’t
see what was extravagant. I didn’t see people drinking
champagne or eating, rather I saw
women under the sun, maybe when
we finished few people came to the
government house to eat. My complain
when I was in the NLC was that politicians make promises at the
beginning and in between, they don’t
render account but for me, at the heart
of democracy is the commitment to
report to your employers what you
have done with the tools with which you are asked to work and that is
what we did today and that is what we
have done in the past four years and
God’s willing, we would do it over the
next few years. And I want to lay a foundation that a
future government would feel obliged
year to year to tell the people what
they did with their mandate.

You sounded too harsh on the issue of signing death warrants, why?

I am sure you are familiar with the fact
that the governor has the last input
when a criminal or a suspect is
apprehended. It goes through trials,
the charges are laid before the court
and he is invited to come and defend himself before the prosecutors to
establish the guilt, the judge makes up
his mind whether the case has been
proven or not, where he is convinced
he has that judgment and the suspect
can appeal up to the Supreme Court. If the Supreme Court is convinced that
the person is guilty and hands out
death penalty and it is the requirement
of the constitution that the governor
accents to it. If the Supreme Court finds
out that 20 people were guilty of murder and they sentence twenty
people to death and the governor in
line with the constitutional
requirement signs the sentences, what
is reckless in that? When a reporter files a story, it goes
through the newsroom, the sub-
editor, the line editor looks at it, the
editor signs the paper, is that a
reckless process? I have no apologies
like I said at the stadium. If you are convicted as a kidnapper because you
killed the victim, I will sign the death
warrant because you have no reason
to take the life of another man or
woman.

You did mention that you copied certain strategies from Lagos State, what was the situation in Edo when you came?

People don’t like to say they copy
except when you talk about America
and Europe but what I’m saying is that
there are a lot of good things that are
happening in the Nigerian
environment and sometimes, you need to go out to find what works and
adopt it. Lagos has always been there and at a
point, things were so bad that Lagos
became so impossible that you used
odd numbers and even numbers to
manage your traffic and senior military
officers were deployed to use the horse whip to enforce simple traffic
rules. That was how bad Lagos was. General
Obasanjo was reported as saying that
Lagos was a jungle, today Lagos is not
a perfect place but everybody agrees
that good things are happening in
Lagos. Ojuelegba used to be where we recruit
our area boys when we want to make
Lagos a bit less comfortable for the big
people plying the road. The last time I
passed Ojuelegba, I couldn’t find area
boys. Lagos was known for de- humanizing mass transit called Molue
where you enter with clean clothes
and come out with tattered rags and
we are beginning to see roads that
where blocked and opened up with
several lanes. So for me, that shows that things are
changing in Lagos but we need to
understand what has led to those
changes. By 1999 when Tinubu was
the governor I had to represent
workers before him and he was obliged to convince me why he won’t
do the level of wages we wanted him
to pay and I realized that from that
interaction, Lagos revenue was
N600m. But today, I understand from IGR that
Lagos generates some good amount
and with that, they have been able to
connect some bridges, things have
changed in Lagos. Oshodi has been
cleaned up. So it was something for me to copy and I said, I shamelessly
went to Lagos to proudly copy what
works and I came back to Edo to re-
engineer our tax system and we
raised our own locally generated
revenue from about N285m and at a point, we hit N2billion because we
didn’t need to depend on Abuja to be
able to do everything that we needed
to do. It requires courage, clear thinking and
a level of determination to be able to
get the people to realize that citizens
have obligation to the state to pay
taxes so that in turn they can become
real stake holders to do the things that we are doing in EdoState. And that if
we are going to expand and carry out
urban renewal like what they did in
Lagos. You do need to sometimes get
rid of certain things in order to restore
the right of ways and expand the roads and that is what I meant. There are couple of things we copied
from Lagos: land use charge and
consumption tax because I’m sure
that some of you at one time or the
other travel outside Nigeria and even
those of you who have not travelled, by just watching debates in other
countries, central to every election
debate are tax policies and taxes and
that defines the character of a
government. Look at the intra-city
transport system which would have been done many years ago. It is now happening in Lagos. Imagine
if somebody had made up his mind to
do thirty years ago what Fashola is
doing now, life in Lagos would have
been lot more comfortable than it is
now. But we recognized that the fact that we failed in the past is no reason
why we should fail now. For us to be
detained by the past and to become
incapable of facing the challenge of
making up for lost time, I will say
better late than never. I am happy to see what Lagos is doing today.

ASUU strike has persisted despite all efforts to bring about peace

I have a particular difficulty on this
matter and this is why I have not
commented on it and I don’t think I
really want to comment on it because
somehow I have helped in mediating
between federal government and ASUU in 2009. The very agreement
that is in dispute is not really for me to
cause trouble for any one. I was involved in the making of that
agreement, all I will say for now is that
under the Nigeria Labour laws,
agreement are enforceable even in
law because both the Trade Union act
and Labour acts recognize the stature of collective agreement entered into
between an employer and employee
and the key issue is that both sides
should act in good faith because
making any statement for and against
either side might not promote the cause of peace.

Why have you not remarried since you lost your wife?

I wish you would have avoided the
question because really when I talk
about my late wife, people may not
understand why? You are in a position
to judge whether to agree or disagree.
When a man in my own case has the privilege of being elected as a state
governor or president, your wife’s
status changes automatically to the
first lady of the state or the country
with all the glamour that goes with it. Oshiomhole Oshiomhole To have the kind of wife I had, who
was familiar with all the police stations
in Kaduna and outside, and sometimes
searching for her husband who might
have gone to work and detained by
Police on account of trade union work, it was her lot to stand by me and she
bore all the deprivations of a husband
you were never sure where he was
going to be at the next minute. At a
point, she called me an absentee
husband. In one interview she said ‘I have
donated my husband to the Nigerian
workers’, so she went through all that
pain and the day we were
inaugurated is usually the day where
women put on their very best, befitting a stature of the first lady of a
state. But on that occasion, we
discussed how to appear because we
didn’t have the opportunity of long
planning. I was declared on the 11th
as the winner of the election and was to be sworn in on the 12th. So I said to her, I can’t change my
identity now because I have been a
worker and have used khaki as a
factory worker and President of the
NLC, and I don’t want to look different
and she agreed. Rather than going to buy lace, she opted to wear the same
khaki, except that my own was better
sown than hers because the woman
who made her own was not used to
sowing khaki for women. So I looked around and imagined that
she should have been by my side
today to share the joy of my 5th year
anniversary. If you come from my
background, any woman who agrees
to marry a man who is not rich, a man who alternates between police
stations and cells and lives in a one or
two bedroom apartment, that is your
real love. When my wife said I love
you, it was from her heart. I just imagined how she would have
felt seeing all these people. The only
worry she ever had was who was
going to employ our children owing to
my agitations with big establishments,
because as an organized labour, when we leave the NLC, we fear that our lives
would be lonely because it would be a
payback time for all those big people I
have harassed in the course of my
work. So, it would have been joyous
for her to see that five years down the road , I have more people around me
than I have before. Her second fear was that she never
approved my involvement in politics
because she was very proud to be
referred to as the wife of Oshiomhole
because then she gets all the favour
and saw the affection because most Nigerians were happy with my
stewardship at the NLC. She was worried that once I get into
politics, I would be ridiculed and all of
that would go. She felt I should keep
the name. But I told her even before I
went into the NLC. NLC was a write off
as military apologists, the human rights community distanced
themselves from the NLC and I said
you can always chose how you want
to be remembered; that I’m going into
politics to redefine and demystify
governance and reconnect with the very ordinary people and politics
offers that platform for anyone who
believes the ordinary man deserves a
better deal. So for all that and for many other
reasons, that is one thing that I regret
that she should have been there to
also see the other side of life. I have
seen it all, in this state now, they are
people who will call me the oppressor and you know who they are, the
oppressors of yesterday. If you ask ‘Mr fix it’ who I am, he will
tell you I’m oppressing him because I
have de-fixed him. It would have
been nice for my wife to see life’s full
circle; that those guys who feasted on
us and cheated, that we have reduced them to political vegetables and placed
them on permanent political oxygen.

Why are APC leaders begging PDP members to join them when they described the party as evil?

PDP is not a tribe, that you should do
the DNA to find out if there is
something in the gene. Nigeria has
been more or less a one party state
and they are many who are not
convinced about the message or promise but they went into PDP,
because that is the only game in town.
The beauty of a two viable alternative
political platform is that it offers the
opportunity of people of like minds to
come together regardless of where you were before and Edo is a an
example. Before I got here, those who
are with me now were either in PDP or
ANPP and some in their private
grumbling over what was happening. They all used to pay political
pilgrimage to Uromi for political
blessing not because they were
convinced but that was the only way it
could be done. Once we opened a
platform, those who were genuinely unhappy with what was going on
there left to join the ACN, now APC and
those who are happy with the
godfather remained with him. There
have been people in this state who
took advert and said if you asked them to paint the face of God, that by
the time they finished painting that
face, what you will see is the face of
the godfather. And that was blasphemy and that is
how far some people went and by
praise singing like that, you could
become a minister, senator or
governor for people who believe that
the end justifies the means. I think that in every political party, you would find
some good and bad people. I don’t
think that there is pretense that every
person in APC is an angel or is there a
suggestion that everybody in the PDP
is a devil.

PoliticsATM Robbers Kill 2 Policemen In Lagos by kenshin17(op): 11:59pm On Nov 17, 2013
Two policemen were, in the early
hours of Sunday, killed during an
encounter with a six-man robbery
gang that attacked a second
generation bank’s Automated Teller
Machine, ATM, at Ipaja area of Lagos State. Vanguard gathered that the two
officers met their untimely death when
a team of policemen responded to a
distress call from the bank. The robbers attempted to break open
the ATM, when the policemen from
Ayobo Police Division arrived on the
scene and the robbers opened fire on
them, killing the team leader, Longus
Amuzie, an Assistant Superintendent of Police and one other. The other policemen were said to have
called for backup. The officer in charge of the Special
Anti-Robbery Squad, Abba Kyari,
swiftly deployed a team of operatives
to the area and four members of the
gang were arrested. Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi
Braide, while confirming the report,
said the robbery was foiled, adding
that no money was stolen from the
ATM.

SportsNike V Adidas XI: Which Team Wins? by kenshin17(op): 12:26am On Nov 16, 2013
Adidas: Manuel Neuer
Nike: Hugo Lloris

Two very good goalkeepers going
head to head, Neuer was obviously
part of the most successful team in
Europe last season while Lloris has
excelled since moving to Tottenham. Little to pick between these two, but
Lloris may just edge it in terms of
having another dimension to his
game. Winner
:
Nike

Nike: Thiago Silva, Ashley Cole, Braislav Ivanovic, Gerard Pique

Adidas: Philipp Lahm, Jordi Alba, Mats Hummels, Gary Cahill

Nike's defence has a nice balance to it,
and while Invanovic is often solid
rather than spectacular, they look
particularly strong at centre-back with
Silva and Pique. Adidas are incredibly strong at full-
back and can also call upon Dani
Alves, who switched from Nike a few
years back. Gary Cahill is capable, but not quite up
to the level of those around him. Winners:

Nike 0

Nike: Pirlo, Busquets, Ronaldo, Iniesta, Ribery

Adidas: Schweinsteiger, Xavi, Messi, Ozil, Bale

Now this is a battle. Both midfields are
packed with quality and goals, and
look well balanced in protecting the
back four and going forward. Schweinsteiger alongside Xavi is a nice
balance although neither is a genuine
enforcer like Busquets for Team Nike,
while there is a cigarette paper
between the respective attacking
midfielders.

Winners: Nike

Nike: Lewandowski

Adidas: Van Persie

Another close call. Both strikers have
been in sensational form over the past
two seasons. Lewandowski helped his
side to the Champions League final last
season while Van Persie guided
Manchester United to the Premier League title. However Van Persie has been top
scorer in the Premier League for the
last two seasons in a row, and looks
capable of repeating that again this
campaign.

Winners: Adidas

Well that was pretty one-sided wasn't it? Adidas certainly have a greater quantity of professional footballers signed up while it seems as though Nike have focused on snaring the best of the best. In truth, plenty of decisions could
have gone either way so it's over to
you; which team do you think is
stronger? Leave your comments below!

Christianity EtcTruth Versus Lie And Their Effects by kenshin17(op): 11:09pm On Nov 14, 2013
It is a known fact that truth is of God
while lie is of the devil. Those who
dwell in the truth are the children of
God but liars are of the devil, and the
most unfortunate thing is that, many
profess to be Christian lie one way or the other unknowingly, because they
do not know all kinds of lies whether
big or small are sin before God and the
implication are very disastrous [Rev;
21:8]. Truth of God and those who are living
in truth are real children of God and
we go on to live a life full of truth, we
shall be blessed and inherit the
kingdom of God at last in Jesus name. So in this message, we shall study in
details ‘’Truth versus lies’’ in order to
know their effects, and to desist from
lying and follow after truth so that we
can make heaven at the end of our
lives. So let consider the following sub- headings.

THE ACT OF LIES AND EFFECTS

In the first place, we should
understand that every act of
unrighteousness is sin and everything
that is not righteous is unrighteous,
remember the unrighteous shall not
inherit the kingdom of God (1john;5 :17; 1cor;6;9). So be warned
and take time to be holy, for your sins
will surely find you out (Num: 32:23).
We should also understand that there
is no small lie; every lie is a sin before
God, no matter how it was told or to whom you lied to. It could be to your
mother, children, brother or sister,
your master, husband or wife, or to
your pastor, brethren in the church,
business partner, government or
white people(Rev:21:cool Lies are manifested in so many ways
and when people possessed with evil
spirit of lying, they lie in almost
everything they do and to
whomsoever is around them. Liars say
they are not there when they are there; that did not see or do it when
they are the victims, they said I am
going to be there but it will never be
so; a liar say we are coming while he
or she is coming alone. Says I have nothing, I have not eaten,
I have nothing with me, in the house
nothing nothing but he or she has
many things, liars deny touching,
stealing, being involved when he or
she did all that; they deny going out, seeing that person or knowing about
him or having anything to do with
him, they commit one offence or the
other and deny and still claim to be
innocent and a child of God. They lie in
so many ways and they shall not escape the punishment here and
hereafter, no wonder many who are in
the church today are suffering and are
blaming God. Remember Ananias and sapphire
(acts5:4-10); Abraham (Gen20:1-7),
they did not escape the effects of their
lies. Liars will suffer here and
afterward and they shall perish in hell
fire (rev, 21:cool. Many lie in their words, thoughts, actions, and so many other
ways, but remember, 1john5; 17, 1cor,
6:9.

THE ACTS OF TRUTH AND EFFECTS

The Lord Jesus Christ is the
embodiment of truth (John14:6); truth
is an act of righteousness and
whosoever dwells in truth is of God’s
righteousness and the righteous shall
inherit the kingdom of God (1john5:18); matt25:46]. Truths set us
free and bring promotions and
blessings of all kinds (psalm 92:12).
Therefore, all those who are walking
in truth, speaking the truth are true
children of God. All true children of God and true minister of God are the
joy of the lord (2john1:1-4); they are
the joy of their parents, relations, etc.
and others testify and boast of them,
and go ahead to commit or entrust
things in their hands (exodus18:21). All those who are living in truth
manifest truthfulness in all their
relationships with others wherever
they are or go, knowing fully that
truth is of God and an act of
righteousness; they speak the truth from their heart, say exactly what they
saw, did, where they are or are going
to and what they did not see, touch;
they give accurate figure and balance
in whatever transaction they are told
to do; they do not exaggerate; they don’t speak of what they do not know
about but quote exactly what they
heard or know; they don’t speak to
attract laughter, favour or to cover up;
they speak the truth anywhere,
anytime and are ready to suffer for the truth and can never side evil
(rom9:1-3). All such people are honest men and
are the favourite of the Lord
(exodus18:21) they are always
sought for anywhere they are, they
are hot cakes, scarce and few both in
the church and the world at large; come what may, they will never lie
(numb24:10-13). Think of joseph,
Moses, Daniel, Meshach, shedrach,
Abednego, Jesus Christ and the
apostles, they stood firmly on the truth
and God blessed them mightily and forever (john1:14, john14:6, 21:1-4). Our God is full of truth as such that he
cannot dwell with liars (rev, 21:cool and
the righteousness shall inherit the
kingdom of God. For those who are
not born again and backsliders, they
should repent and confess their sins to the lord and he will show them mercy
(1john3:8-9; prov28:13; john1:12;
rom10:13; matt6:33).Remember, no
one born of man and woman is
righteous from the womb, therefore,
whatever you do without been born again, will never qualify you for
heaven , so surrender your life to
Jesus and renounce your sins and
trust in his grace to live right and you
will not be disappointed. (matt6:33,
2cor12:9, 1john3:8-9, 1john5:18, 2cor12:9).
PoliticsBoko Haram Kills 26 In Fresh Borno Attacks by kenshin17(op): 11:01pm On Nov 14, 2013
SUSPECTED members of Boko Haram
terrorists have carried out a series of
night attacks in Borno State causing
havoc and killing 26 people in the
process. This was even as reports emerged that
the insurgents abducted a French
Roman Catholic, Georges
Vandenbeusch in northern Cameroon. Vandenbeusch, who moved to the
area two years ago, was reported to
have repeatedly ignored warnings by
the French authorities that the region
was dangerous. The Boko Haram
insurgents in Bdagu, Izge, Hartsa and Yazza villages in Gwoza, Damboa and
Askira-Uba Local Government Areas of
Borno State, ransacked houses and
killed their victims just as several
hundreds were displaced from their
houses. About 40 houses were said to have been set ablaze. An unconfirmed report said that three
of the attackers were also killed when
some neighbouring villages of Dille,
Lassa among others mobilized and
pursued the fleeing suspected
terrorists to a nearby bush in the area. A source said in Bdagu Community
that the attackers had between
Monday and Wednesday, this week
stormed the affected villages in two
Hilux vehicles, three buses and about
30 motorcycles armed with AK47 rifles, and going from house to house
to kill, loot and burning some selected
homes.

Christianity EtcTestimony From A Chosen Sister by kenshin17(op): 12:39am On Nov 07, 2013
I am a missionary. I came toChosenfirst in 2005 intheprogramme titled"There Cometh One Mightier Than All"at Owerri. Many years back, a prophecy was given aboutthebirth ofChosensomewhere in Onitsha.Theman of God there said there will be a church that will be born and he began to describethechurch, he did not namethechurch but described it. He told usthesign that one will use to knowthechurch. He said in that church, theHoly ghost will be so much present that any type of case one carries tothechurch, that problem will be solved. He said any case that defies medical practioners and is carried to that church that person will be healed. He said so many things aboutthechurch and even said many things abouttheissue of angels appearing to people real. He continued and said power will be as of old and that church will be a living church and every other church or individual that wants to go to heaven will submit to that church.Theman said many things. First of all he told us to go and buy exercise book to write down all he would be telling us because they arethethings that will happen beforetherapture. He also talked aboutthesecular world but I was more interested inthechurch.Theprophecy happened between 1996 and 1998 at Onitsha. I was not a member of that church. I just went on a visit. And so I started searching forthechurchtheprophet was describing. He said this church will bethelast church that will usher down Christ. And that I will be amongtheevangelists God will use in this end time. Aftertheprogramme, I left andthesearch forthechurch started. I wentthewhole Onitsha searching for this church to no avail. Then I went to Aba, going from church to church, yet I did not seethechurch. I came down to Owerri, yet without success. Then I went back to my missionary work.Theman gave us a sign and that sign was that alltheyoung ladies in that church in that programme will get married. Before August that year, eventhemoroon, theimbecile, all got married, except me according to his word. Whentheman reached my side, theman saidtheLord said I should go into preaching, that is whattheLord wants. There were many things he told me which happened to me. I went back to preaching, while simultaneously searching for this church. One daytheChosenhad a programme entitled “There Cometh One Mightier Than All” when I saw this church in a poster, I did not know, it was this church I was looking for but something happened.ThePFN had a meeting and I was a member of a church that was a member of PFN at Owerri (it was in 2005)thepresident of PFN then summound meeting of PFN members and instructedthePastors to go and tell their members that none of them should attend that crusade. He was castigatingthemiracle happening here. When he said that, I was not much interested because I was still looking for a church. So asthechurch dismissed and I was going home, I now saw a poster written"There Cometh One Mightier Than All". That poster was pasted near my brother’s residence because as at then I was living with him and he is a Pastor. I went to his house and told him don’t mind these people, they are not Christians. How can you see somebody that wrote this title"There Cometh One Mightier Than All"and you start fightingtheperson. I asked him whether we are looking for souls going to heaven or souls for our pockets. I told him not to join them because they are not Christians. I told him that I must be in that crusade so I went and brought my younger brother who was mentally sick but my brother’s wife did not agree that I would take him tothecrusade. Eventually I went alone tothecrusade. And immediatelytheman of God mountedthepulpit he said"As they said that this crusade will not hold, is it not holding?"I was surprised within me and asked myself how did he know that a meeting like this was held. In that place, they buried charm, but I did not know who buriedthecharm, theG.O cursedthecharm and continued in prayer.Thefirst testimony that shook my head was that a mad person whose head was shattered got healed instantaneously. Another shocker was a 27 year old deaf and dumb who heard and spoke too. So I recorded it in my heart and left but before I left, I sowed a seed and said God link me with this church and I left. After that incidence, I forgot aboutChosenbut I was still looking for that church because I want to make sure, that, that miracle that day was not by mistake. So I went back into preaching. I am a preacher. I used to preach in Chisco bus every Friday and Saturday morning. People who are travellers here will know me, I used to stay in Chisco bus Owerri. I used to preach like our G.O. And if I finish preaching I will tell you what sin is. Some of my topics say ‘Be sure that Jesus Christ is Lord over your life, dangers of unfaithfulness, God is looking for somebody etc. when I round off my message, I will tell you what is sin. Some people after hearing my message will ask me whether am aChosen. I would say yes but I did not understand what I was saying. I have even forgotten aboutthechurch so one day a man of God was travelling, that Pastor is from this headquarters. And so I happened to preach inthebus he boarded after my preaching, he called me and asked whether am aChosen? I answered intheaffirmative but quickly asked him what he meant byChosen? He gave me a flyer. He said attend this crusade, it was in Onitsha and that flyer contained many miracles attheback. He told me there is a church calledChosen. I made up my mind to attendtheprogramme he gave metheflyer. When I came to that programme at Onitsha, I discovered it wasthesame Pastor that preached at Owerri andthesame miracle that happened in Owerri. I discovered thatthesignstheman gave us was still happening there, I said within me if I see this thingthethird time, I will know it is this church. So when we finished our exams, final qualifying examination oftheNursing and mid-Wifery Council of Nigeria.Thenursing council seized my credentials. They deprived and denied me of my certificate. Out of annoyance I called my father and told him what happened. My father calledtheReverend Sister and sent her to nursing council. After all said and done she tried to fix my name they removed it, she did it three times without success. I told my father to wait that I would go to Lagos. So I came back to Lagos, and somebody met me at Ijesha bus-stop, there was no initial plan or agreement. It was as iftheman was waiting for me, immediately I dropped fromthebus, this particular man at Ijesha bus-stop was following me and saying, ‘sister don’t go toChosen, don’t go toChosen’ I was surprised. When I looked attheman, I sawtheman as an agent because if not, how did he know that I was coming toChosen. He was amongtheagents following me around and wanting to destroy me. He told me thattheman of God used to put juju (charm) in his mouth while praying. Personally I know thattheman of God is real but what I wanted to confirm is whetherthemiracles are constant.Theman (agent) followed me to my brother’s house and when I got to my brother’s house I insulted him, he left and I entered my brother’s house and told him what brought me to Lagos. My brother narrated a story and said that his son passed a common entrance examination he (thefather) did not have money to paytheschool fees. He came toChosenand tabled it in writing and raised it when Pastor was praying. Then in answer to that, somebody he never knew from Adam gave him N100,000 and said ‘go and pay your son’s school fees.’ He said again that he wanted to buy a generator set forthewife and didn’t have much money, he said he came here and tabled it before God, and also that duringthetime diamond bank was eliminating people, he was not qualified to work in that bank, he came here and tabled it in prayer request and instead of eliminating him they promoted him. They even gave him gift asthebest worker oftheyear. Even that generator, somebody brought himthegeneratorthenext day. With all thesetestimonies, he called me ‘nne’ go there, God will answer you, go there, that your certificate will be released.” So early inthemorning, I came on Sunday evening, before day break, I was here. I cried and prayed then left. At a time I came back again, they were carrying chairs and I joined them in carrying chairs.Thesecond day I came, as at that time, I used to put on weave-on bangles and ear-rings, at a time, I started removing it. Whentheman of God started preaching I began to understand what it means to be proud. I began to know that those things I put on are Jezebelic attire and it can puff one up. And when I put on these things I will be puffed up. That man of God at Onitsha then told me that God will bless me in preaching but pride will destroy (itself) not me. So I started telling God to remove pride from me from that moment because I don’t want to go to hell fire. In that message that I preached ‘dangers of unfaithfulness’ God told me that while he removed table from heaven and said that common mistake I made in life can ruin my life forever. It is among that message but I was not practising it until I came toChosen. And when I came here, God did not immediately start going to nursing council, he started healing me of cases that has passed 20 years, that is poison that has been in my body which I saw as a permanent damage to my system God removed it. Those things convinced me. And that prophet at Onitsha then said that this church will be a living church, leading others to heaven, so when he said that. I picked it and I saw all those things he said here. Even when some Pastors mountthepulpit, they would say thatChosenis a church (mountain) built (established )on top of mountains. So I want to appreciate God that I have finally foundthechurch and am a member. I praise God for his mercy and counting me amongtheend-time evangelists. PraisetheLord!
