Family / Re: “If You Fight My Side Chick, I Will Upgrade Her To Wife” - Nigerian Man. by KesoMyGuy(m): 5:53pm On Jun 22, 2021 |
The truth may hurt , but our society has never moved on from polygamy. We may hide under the disguise of religion and civilization, but deep down, we are Africans. And our value system condoned and celebrated polygamy long before the white man came with his ways. My take is not to say polygamy is either good or bad, but that our deep rooted African norms cannot be easily erased just because the white man gave us a book and some set of laws. Its the same way our so called democracy , even though copied from the white man, looks nothing like what they taught us. Lets remember that a lot of us are just one generation away from polygamy being the norm in our society, my grand-parents both had multiple wives, then white man brought bible and the norms changed. Society norms may have changed , but the black man remained the same. For every side chick , there is a married man and a wife involved. The so called wife , may have once upon a time been a side chick , and the present side chick will one day be a wife. Its truly a mans world in Africa; it has always been. Change may come , but not today. |
