Yes it requested for a code and has 9 trials left.

1. when you get the pop-up to enter unlock code how many trials are left like !-- Enter MEP(9 left):
2. navigate to option and then advance then to SIM CARD when you get to SIM CARD type in MEPD and tell me what you see

Sim Card:No valid SIM Card.

But i have my MTN SIM Inserted.
