bauchi State Nigeria Creation: It was created in 1976. Capital: Bauchi Major Cities: Azare, Misau, Ningi, Katagum Geographic Profile: Bauchi State lies between 9.30 and 12.30 north of the equator, and 8.50 and 110 east of the Green which Meridian. The State is bordered by eight States: Kano, Jigawa, Plateau, to the west; Adamawa, Taraba, Yobe and Gombe to the North East; and Kaduna to the North West; Land area of 549,260 sq. kilometers, about 5.3% of Nigeria’s total land mass. Economy Profile: Bauchi state is an agricultural state. Its vast fertile soil is an added advantage for agricultural products, which include maize, rice, millet, groundnut and guinea corn. Irrigation farming is practiced and supported by the use of dams like Balanga dam, etc. Cattle and other livestock are also reared in the state.The state also has manufacturing industries in the area of Iron and Steel, Water, Ceramics, Food and Beverages etc. Ethnic Profile: Bauchi State is largely heterogeneous State consisting of Hausa, Fulani, Sayawa, Bulewa, Karekare, Kanuri, Warjawa, Zulawa and Badawa etc., a total of 55 ethnic groups. The most widely spoken languages are Hausa and English which are treated as official languages, but Fulfulde too is widely spoken. The State is predominantly Islamic but Christianity is widely practiced in some particular areas. Occupation: The major occupation in Bauchi State is peasant farming employing traditional methods and implements. Other occupations in the State include fishing, hunting, blacksmithing, crafts and trading. Local Government Areas (LGAs): They are 20 Local Government Areas in Bauchi State, namely: Alkaleri, Bauchi, Bogoro, Dambam, Darazo, DassGamawa, Ganjuwa, Giade, Itas/Gadau, Jama’are, Katagum, Krifi, Miau, Ningi, Shira, TafawaBalewa, Toro, Warji and Zaki. the governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed (born 5 October 1958) was elected Senator for Bauchi South, in Bauchi State, Nigeria in April 2007. He was appointed Minister of FCT (Federal Capital Territory) on 8 April 2010, when Acting President Goodluck Jonathan announced his new cabinet.[1] He is the Governor-elect of Bauchi State in 2019 suplimentary governorship election under the platform of People's Democratic Party (PDP).[2] He studied English at the University of Maiduguri (1979–1982), where he gained a BA.[1] He joined The Democrat as a reporter in 1983, then worked in the public service as an administrative officer from 1984-2000.[3] He worked in the Ministries of Internal Affairs, Solid Minerals, Power and Steel and Transportation and Aviation. He retired as Director of Administration in the Nigerian Meteorological Agency. Capital:Kaduna Major Cities: Kaduna, Zaria, Lere, Kafanchan, Dutsen Wai, Kujama, Rahama Geographic Profile: Kaduna State occupies almost the entire mid-central portion of the Northern parts of Nigeria and shares common borders with Zamfara, Katsina, Niger, Kano, Bauchi, Nasarawa, Plateau States, and the Federal Capital Territory to the South - West. The State is located globally between latitudes 9˚ 03¹N and 11˚ 32¹ North of the Equator and longitudes 6˚ 05¹ and 8o 38¹ East of the Greenwich Meridian. He was the former Director General of Bureau of Public Enterprises, the head of privatisation agency in Nigeria.[3][4] He was the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja from 16 July 2003 to 29 May 2007. He is a member of All Progressives Congress (APC) and was elected as the Executive Governor of Kaduna State during the 2015 general elections in Nigeria
