Structure Of A Thesis

A thesis can be written down in various forms; that can be a traditional thesis or thesis by compilation. All types of the thesis have a common feature to argue. Stages Of A Thesis
• Abstract:
The abstract includes an overview of the entire thesis, and it is written between 200-300 words. The abstract does not include any citations. Use numbers where suitable. Title information should be repeated. Does the abstract provide the answers to the following questions: what, why, and how did you do it?

• Table Of Content:
It includes all headings and subheadings with page numbers and indents and their subheadings.

• Introduction:
Introduction includes the background of the topic, a summary of present knowledge, and the objective of your research. It also includes hypotheses of the research.

• Literature Review:
It includes the opinion of various authors on your research topic. It is also an evaluation of previous research on a similar topic. It should end with a conclusion identifying gaps and remaining problems. Do not be too broad, but also not to narrow.

This part of the thesis explains which method you select and why and what is the outcome of the selected methods.

• Results:
Results explain the fact of the research. It contains the outcome of the research. It is necessary to mention both positive and negative results. Indicate data on a range of variation. Explain your outcomes into a coherent sentence by using subheadings.

• Discussion:
Discussion includes comments on your results, describe the mean of your results, describe the expected and unexpected results of the research and give reasons for unexpected outcomes. It is necessary that your current result relates to the previous results of the research and mention that questions that remain unanswered.

• Conclusion:
In conclusion, you mention that the goal of your research has been achieved. You also mention the limitations and provide suggestions for further research. Do not use repetitive words that are used in abstract, discussion and introduction. Explain the strongest point that you have observed from your research.

• Recommendations:
It includes remedial steps to solve the problems, further research to fill in gaps, and provide directions for future investigation on this or related topics.

• Acknowledgments:
Advisers who have helped you financially, intellectually, and technically.

• Reference:
-> Cite all concepts or data that are not your own.

-> All cited reference must be listed.

-> Do not use footnotes.

-> It is acceptable to mention the initials of the individual authors behind their last names.

• Appendices:
It includes all your research data in the form of an appendix, tables, calculations, list of all equipment used for an experiment, and key article as an appendix.

Length Of The Thesis:
There is not a fixed length of a thesis. In general length of the thesis is 25-30 pages. It is necessary that only relevant information should be presented in the thesis. Less relevant information and additional information could be shown in the appendix.

Paper Size
The size of the paper that is used for the thesis is 8.5 x 11 inches. It is necessary that real copy of the thesis is written on white acid-free paper. And this paper is available from office supply and union bookstore.

Font
You can use times new roman font to write a thesis, but do not use Calibri or Arial font. It should be typed on an electric printed from a computer. Laser printers are suitable for thesis because other printers suitable as long as the print gave is an even line density.

Margins
Leave a 1-inch margin at the right side and leave a 1.5 margin on the left side of the paper, the top and the bottom.
