Barcelona's Thierry Henry Has Signed Pre-Contract With MLS' New York Red Bulls - Report

As reported by Sport, Barcelona striker and French goalscoring legend Thierry Henry has signed a pre-contract agreement that will see him move to the United States' Major League Soccer to play with the New York Red Bulls after the World Cup.

After an initially rocky start in his first season at Barcelona, Henry had a successful year with the Blaugrana under coach Pep Guardiola. This season, however, the Frenchman has struggled with injury, and has seen his minutes cut down substantially with the club. He has been linked to a summer transfer away from the Camp Nou for much of the season.

Despite his age, 'Titi' remains a prolific goalscorer. During his time at Arsenal, the Frenchman scored 174 goals in 254 matches, while at Barcelona he found the back of the net 35 times in 78 games.

With the idea that since you are the best club no one deserves to win some certain trophies except barca ala champions league and la liga. I am not against a club winning trophies all the time but doing it like it is your right or to spite other clubs is really bad.

I think that Pep should bring a more defensive line up by using both Yaya toure and
Busi as defensive midfielders. And then we play Xavi up the field so that he can feed balls to the attacking 3.
Something like this is what I am thinking about:

-------------Valdes------------
--------Puyol-----Milito------
Alves-------------------Maxwell-----
-------Busi----------Yaya--------
--------------Xavi---------------
---Messi--------------Pedro------
------------Bojan-------------------

The equation is simple, win on saturday = winning the league.

I remember his gig at Oniru it was like the entire Lagos was there me and my compadres had to detour to Shoprite sharp sharp! The reaction of peeps to his death shows he was doing something right.

93 points: another record for Barca https://www.barcaforum.com/images/smilies/2145960713mundoemotiincmy8.gif

The win over Tenerife this Tuesday meant that Barca now have 93 points - the most any team have ever chalked up in a league of 20 or 22 teams.

29 wins, six draws and just one defeat have taken Barca to a record number of points, with two games still to play, breaking Madrid’s previous record of 92 under Fabio Capello and the club’s previous best of 90 in the same 96/97 campaign under Sir Bobby Robson. That was done in 42 games, whilst this Barca have taken 93 in just 36 games.

52 points at home

Barca have dropped just 15 points all season and only two at the Nou Camp, with a total of 52 taken at home and 41 on the road and if they take the points against Seville and Valladolid, they will reach an astonishing 99 points for the season.

Record number of wins

The win over Tenerife also means the team have more wins than last season, when they claimed 42 victories in 62 games in all competitions(68%), compared to 43 so far this campaign from 57(75%).

Champions League place on the line in enormous Eastlands encounter

There can be only one outcome to this game for Manchester City if they wish to take Champions League qualification into their own hands; three points is quite simply a must. With Tottenham Hotspur travelling to already relegated Burnley on the last day of the season, Roberto Mancini's side have to wrestle the initiative away from them with a win on Wednesday night. A loss, and it's all over.

If you believe the sounds emanating out of Eastlands, failure to qualify for Europe's elite competition is not a complete disaster this season, but, considering the significant investment made in the summer that included the purchases of Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor and Carlos Tevez, the board members at City will be privately aware of just how important a win really is.

City are well equipped to take the race for fourth place to the wire currently; their loss to Manchester United is their only defeat in their last six games. Last Saturday they ended Aston Villa's charge after going a goal down in the first half - can they significantly dent Tottenham's?

Spurs have been here before, though. In 2006, then managed by Martin Jol, Tottenham were on the verge of Champions League football, needing only a win against West Ham United to secure fourth place, leaving Arsenal in their wake. What followed has been consigned to Premier League history.

Ten members of the playing staff contracted food poisoning and fell violently sick the night before the game at Upton Park. Spurs officials tried to have the game delayed by 24 hours but to no avail and West Ham ran out 2-1 victors - leaving Spurs cursing the dreaded dodgy lasagne that caused the bug.

A handful of the Spurs squad from 2006 remain, and the likes of Ledley King and Tom Huddlestone remember the feeling of disappointment all too well. Now, Harry Redknapp's charges have the chance to put those memories to rest with victory on Wednesday, against a City side they beat 3-0 at White Hart Lane earlier in the season.

TEAM NEWS

Man City

Emergency loanee Marton Fulop is likely to start against his former club, for whom he never played, in the absence of Shay Given, and City look set to be boosted by the return of Gareth Barry - the England international who has been struggling with a hamstring injury for weeks.

Joleon Lescott's season has been hampered by the same problem, though he will not be available before the end of the season.

Possible Starting XI:
Fulop; Zabaleta, Toure, Kompany, Bridge; Johnson, De Jong, Barry; Tevez, Adebayor, Bellamy.

Tottenham

Goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes pulled up towards the end of Saturday's win over Bolton; his availability is as yet unknown, but Ben Alnwick could be drafted in as his replacement.

Ledley King's troublesome knee is likely to be assessed in the hours before the game after he starred on Saturday. Vedran Corluka, Niko Kranjcar, Jonathan Woodgate and Carlo Cudicini are all unavailable.

Possible Starting XI: Gomes; Kaboul, Dawson, King, Assou-Ekotto; Lennon, Huddlestone, Modric, Bale; Defoe, Crouch.
