Business / Re: What exactly Is The Benefit Of Floating The Naira? by kiddkash(m): 8:39am On Feb 14
DeLaRue:
During Buhari's government, Nigeria, through the CBN, was spending according to some estimates, more than $12billion per year to maintain 2 exchange rates N440, and I think N570 to a dollar.

That $12 billion dollars was effectively a subsidy.

By the time Buhari left, Nigeria had just about $3.5 billion in its account. It is from that amount that we have to pay our debts and pay for imports of goods.

As you can see, Nigeria no longer had the $12 billion dollars required to keep naira/dollar rate at less than N600. So the current government had no choice but to give up on trying to subsidise the naira.

If Atiku or any other candidate had won, they would have had no choice than to follow the same path.

It is like buying a BMW when you had money. If you no longer have money to maintain it, what do you do, you give it up. No be so?

Your friends and neighbours who see you taking Okada will call you stupid for giving up such a beautiful car. But, younno longer have know what they don't know - you no longer have the money to maintain the car.

This is exactly where Nigeria is at present.

They had wrong thinkings, floating the economy was a wrong move and he can't go back now because he would be mocked.
Before floating a currency, you consider your GDP and your MPS.
Do you know the MPS of Nigeria?

Good for the economy.

A government that is bold enough to remove subsidies should not be afraid of any backslash that may arise from any measure to save the naira.

Let all remittances be converted to the naira equivalent so the government can have enough dollars for people doing genuine business in need of dollars.

All domiciliary accounts with idle dollars should be taxed.
Commot eye for person money, go hustle your own

Business / Travails Of A Businessman by kiddkash(m): 11:56am On Feb 07
Hello my good nairaland family. I just wanted to open this thread to voice a little of business frustrations.

Customers come to the market to buy goods, you give them original one at a cost effective price, they will complain that it is too much. They will say they want the one of reduced quality which will be able to match the amount they brought to the market.

When they go into the streets to sell, and people don't like the ones of reduced quality then they will say Igbo people sells fake. They will never say they are the ones that requested for lower quality materials to match their money. It is very frustrating.

Example someone wants iPhone 14 pro max at 80,000 naira. Tell me how that is possible. When you tell Chinese manufacturers that customers complain because of the costs, then they'll produce the ones that can be affordable for the wholesalers/retailers.

Later the same funny people will say you are selling chinko product.

People will say Nigeria should ban second hand clothes. How many people can afford to buy brand new ones. E.g. average Nigerian population take less than ₦30,000 per month.
And if the person has minimum of 3 children, can the person afford to buy brand new top of ₦7,000 and Jean of ₦8,000 for one child?

How many clothes will the person buys and for how many children, before their salary finishes.
Thanks God for second hand/ bend down select that costs about ₦500. Then the person would be able to buy at least moderate amount from their salary for their children.

It is not easy for business people out there. Dollar goes high spoiling profit. People always ask, how does rise in dollars affect cost.
Easy you can't buy more if you don't raise prices.
E.g you sell goods at ₦300 when dollar is $950. When dollar rises to $1450, if you don't raise your prises, you can't buy another because it is not even up to cost price,
Then the goods come to Nigeria, you pay huge amount in import duties and taxes, cost of transportation from Port to your place of business, settling agbero and then people still want you to sell ₦300. How?

Anyway,

I wish to remind EVERYONE that FORNICATION, PRIDE, ANGER LEADING TO OFFENCE, JEALOUSY are serious sins before God.

Repent, obey God, keep away from sin and sinful desires. Read the Bible, pray often, and seek God with all your heart and all will be well with you.

Pray and confess your sins to rededicate yourself to God:

1John.1.9 - If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Prayer:
Father I acknowledge all my sins (name them). Have mercy on me and become Lord of my life again in Jesus name. Amen.

CORRUPTION MUST DIE TOTALLY IN OUR NATION.

For those who may have forgotten, kindly joggle your memories with the following words on marble and you will agree with us that what happened in our nation since democracy was nothing but gathering of rogues.
Happy reading:

1. I acted based on Jonathan's instruction - Dasuki

2. I didn't give order - Jonathan

3. I collected 350M from Dasuki for consultation - Iyorchia Ayu

4. I only collected $30,000 from Dasuki not N100m - Bode George

5. I got N4.6b from Dasuki for spiritual purposes - Bafarawa

6. I got N650M from Dasuki for my Abuja burnt office - Thisday Obaigbena.

7. I got N2.1b from Dasuki for publicity - Dokpesi

8. I got another N100m from Yuguda he didn't tell me from where - Bafarawa.

9. I gave N100m each to Odili, Jim Nwobodo Bode George and others - Yuguda

10. The president asked me to change N10B to foreign currency for PDP delegates - Dasuki

11. My boss asked me to get $11M from the CBN - Dasuki's account officer.

12. I got order from above to pay Tompolo N13B for Maritime university land. - Nimasa DG.

13. 950m was shared in my house -- Shekarau

With all this looting and many more revealed, some people are still shouting no sign of change yet, they even say it's political persecution.

But I believe, it is the right thing to do.
If you believe too, send this to other people to garner more support for the fight against corruption and looting in our nation. There must be consequences for such crimes otherwise Nigeria will not develop.

How much is that to a person like Davido!

You think Davido earns in Naira? You not looking at the status!

How much do you think she will "AVERAGELY" get if she files a case in the US? Davido himself won't want that smoke!
Have you ever heard that to park car, Dangote was told ₦5000 and Dangote priced it down to ₦1000. When you become rich, if you do, you'd understand. Rich people help, but they don't really throw money anyhow especially if they feel that they are being conned or being played, even the smallest amount, they will fight back and prove to you that they can't be taken for granted. I know what I am talking about.
