The are various styles to sew with Adire
cloth are becoming more
innovative and trendsetting
everyday. There is an unmissable
hype on the Adire fabric and it has
gone beyond using plain old Adire
textiles to sew the stereotypical iro and buba,
agbada and bubus etc. Now, more fashionable
ready to wear Adire pieces are popping up
everywhere for stylish millennials.
In 2017 alone, there has been an amazing
trend of styles sewn with different variations of
the Adire fabric.
If you are looking for top styles to sew with
Adire cloth in Nigeria, then you might want to
read this article to the very end, because I
guarantee that I am not about to bore you.
On the Bellafricana platform, we have 3 notable
Adire producers – Delavi Couture, Adire Lounge
and Adire Nation.
You may wonder how or why we have more
than one Adire cloth designer on our network
and maybe you may also be wondering if there
would be some sort of conflict of interest in
promoting the individual brands.
To answer your unasked question, No! There is
absolutely no conflict of interest at all. Each
brand has a unique niche, production design
and method that is peculiar to them alone and
utterly different from the other.
While Adire Nation focuses more on quality
casual ready to wear pieces, Adire Lounge is
more in line with Adire fabric production.
However, she does have some really cool
ready to wear and bespoke pieces that would
leave every Afrocentric fashionista drooling.
The Adire fabric is a modern African clothing
that originated from Yoruba land. Adire in itself
is an indigo dyed textile originally made by the
Yoruba women using various resist dye
methods. There are 2 different types of adire
dyeing;
Adire Oniko includes various methods of resist
dyeing like stitching or tying. Originally, raffia
was used to tie the cloth and secure small
pieces of objects such as stones, seeds or
sticks inside the folded piece of fabric to add to
the resist and give a certain shape or pattern.
Adire Eleko is similar to batik except it
traditionally uses starch as opposed to wax as
a resist dying method. A starched pattern is
attached to only one side of the cloth using a
stencil or freehand.
In the past, the Yoruba men would cut out the
stencils while the women would paint the
fabric.
Talk about division of labor huh?
Adire is an absolutely fun and cheerful fabric
that is (in my opinion) more Afrocentric than
Ankara whose patterns are not exclusive to
Nigeria alone. Every line, pattern and design on
the adire fabric represents something to the
creator.
Just in case you were unaware, the Ankara
fabric is originally from the Netherlands (but
don’t ask, that’s story for another day).
I particularly love the antiquity that the Adire
fabric represents and i’m guessing I am not the
only one. So look out Ankara, Adire is about
ready to kick you to the curb.
Tie and dye is seriously a trendy right now.
Style star Noble Igwe and renowned musician
Adekunle Gold have increased it’s popularity
tremendously. Tennis sisters Serena and Venus
Williams have been spotted with Adire kits, top
fashion designers are sprinkling Adire on some
of their outfits and even singer Iyanya was
spotted rocking a baby pink Adire ensemble on
his last album cover specially designed by

In the past if my mum had given me an adire
dress to wear to my school end of year party, I
would have flipped and blown my top off. As a
matter of fact, I would have opted out of going
to that party than be caught dead wearing a
“razz” outfit which is what traditional was to
me back then.
Adire was definitely not a cool way to dress
when there were bell bottoms, fancy tops and
clogs to put on. Who wanted to be called razz?
These days I wouldn’t be seen without an
Afrocentric piece on me. I would trade 3 pairs
of jeans for a nice adire dress or jumpsuit… I
tell you.
Fashion designers in Nigeria and beyond have
taken to using Adire fabrics in their various
styles and designs . They come up with new
and innovative styles to sew with adire cloth
both for casual wear and special occasions.
The adire market now offers various styles to
sew with adire cloth for fashionistas and
Afrocentric lovers. Adire is a true Nigerian
thoroughbred. Every dot, line and pattern is
symbolic.
The process of adire production is quite
tedious but it has created massive job
employment in Nigeria. The Adire language is
one many people take delight in speaking.
Afrocentric fashionistas love to wear styles
sewn with adire cloths. There are so many
color options for adire today, however indigo
was the major color used in the past.
I am so glad that adire has found its way to the
millennials, wearing a simple tank top with
tailored adire shorts would make you stand out
in any gathering.

employment in Nigeria. The Adire language is
one many people take delight in speaking.
Afrocentric fashionistas love to wear styles
sewn with adire cloths. There are so many
color options for adire today, however indigo
was the major color used in the past.
I am so glad that adire has found its way to the
millennials, wearing a simple tank top with
tailored adire shorts would make you stand out
in any gathering.

Adire in itself
is an indigo dyed textile originally made by the
Yoruba women using various resist dye
methods. There are 2 different types of adire
dyeing;
Adire Oniko includes various methods of resist
dyeing like stitching or tying. Originally, raffia
was used to tie the cloth and secure small
pieces of objects such as stones, seeds or
sticks inside the folded piece of fabric to add to
the resist and give a certain shape or pattern.
Adire Eleko is similar to batik except it
traditionally uses starch as opposed to wax as
a resist dying method. A starched pattern is
attached to only one side of the cloth using a
stencil or freehand.
In the past, the Yoruba men would cut out the
stencils while the women would paint the
fabric.
Talk about division of labor huh?
Adire is an absolutely fun and cheerful fabric
that is (in my opinion) more Afrocentric than
Ankara whose patterns are not exclusive to
Nigeria alone. Every line, pattern and design on
the adire fabric represents something to the
creator.
Just in case you were unaware, the Ankara
fabric is originally from the Netherlands (but
don’t ask, that’s story for another day).
I particularly love the antiquity that the Adire
fabric represents and i’m guessing I am not the
only one. So look out Ankara, Adire is about
ready to kick you to the curb.
Tie and dye is seriously a trendy right now.
Style star Noble Igwe and renowned musician
Adekunle Gold have increased it’s popularity
tremendously. Tennis sisters Serena and Venus
Williams have been spotted with Adire kits, top
fashion designers are sprinkling Adire on some
of their outfits and even singer Iyanya was
spotted rocking a baby pink Adire ensemble on
his last album cover specially designed by
Bellafricana Verified @adirelounge
Every dot, line and pattern is
symbolic.

You're exposed to advertising everywhere every day, whether you're flicking through magazines, watching the small screen, streaming online or browsing through your nifty mobile devices. There's always something that pops up and catches your eye. Check to see how many people (and animals) you can spot in those ads you come across. A lot, right?!
Apply to be a model
Book models
It's a real eye-opener when you realise how many humans and animals are placed in ads.
Whether it's promoting the food industry, health care industry, education industry, entertainment industry and... well, all the industries that you can think of, you can count on models. They'll be the face, hands, arms, feet, body - and anything else the client needs for their campaign.
Real-life people and animals are used to advertise a company's products and services all the time. It's an effective way of connecting consumers to a brand. What’s wonderful about this part of the modelling sector is that the requirements are more flexible than that of a runway model , which is a bonus for those who aren't tall and super slim. And if you’re an
animal , you'll probably melt hearts regardless.
So, if you’ve got the look that a client is after (or the meow or woof) then you’ve hit the jackpot! You’ll get your first modelling gig, and we’re certain it’ll be an incredible turning point in your new career.
Advertising Modelling Skills
There’s a wide range of media where advertising modelling can be applied - TV, newspapers, magazines, billboard adverts and of course, the digital platform (being our smartphones and devices). Advertising is more accessible to consumers which makes it a brilliant area of the modelling industry to get involved in.
Confidence is Key
There are key skills that could boost your advertising modelling career should you be interested in kick-starting a fun and distinctive career. If you enjoy taking centre stage and expressing your creative side through drama, then acting is one of them!
Being an ad model could mean doing a spot of acting and if that already tickles your fancy, then hey presto, you'll be earning cash for doing something you enjoy.
Practising some mirror work – doing typical poses in front of your mirror at home - will help get you into the swing of being in front of the camera, rolling film and large crowds.
As a well-established modelling agency, we’ve had a successful run since 2018, promoting our lovely models with our clients. Our clients have included , Royal Mail, N AND D'S.F

DCLM Daily Manna 9 March 2021 Devotional By Pastor W. F Kumuyi – Growing In Adversity
TOPIC: Growing In Adversity
TEXT : Exodus 1:1-14 (KJV)
1 Now these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob.
2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah,
3 Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin,
4 Dan, and Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.
5 And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt already.
6 And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation.
7 And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.
8 Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.
9 And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:
10 Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.
11 Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.
12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.
13 And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour:
14 And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.
KEY VERSE: “But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel” (Exodus 1:12) .
MESSAGE:
Different climatic conditions play their vital roles in the growth of plants in the forest. Winter and summer with the sun and moon were created by our God to fulfil different purposes in life. Life is full of times of sorrow and trouble. Sometimes, it takes storms, trials and temptations to prove the strength of our trust in God. The reality of problems, persecution, pain and perplexity of life cannot be denied. Howbeit, they must never inhibit our growth in life.
Joseph brought his family to Egypt to care for them during the global famine. After their passing, their children grew and multiplied. Many years later, another Pharaoh arose in Egypt who had no respect for the descendants of Joseph and Jacob. He forced them into slavery by engaging them in hard labour. The children of Israel were made to serve in rigour by their Egyptian taskmasters. In the midst of it all, they grew and multiplied. What a paradox of life!
God’s invisible eyes are always watching over His chosen people. He controls the rage of the wicked as He does the rage of the sea. As the children of Israel endured the travails of that time so that God’s covenant with Abraham might come to pass, so must the believer of today do. He never acts in error. Whatever God permits, be it persecution, opposition or even oppression in our communities and places of work, He does so to build us up and separate us from the ungodly ways of the world.
Always remember that God’s desire during adversity is to make us better Christians. Trials and troubles should not be regarded as something that will ruin us. To kick against trials is to miss whatever good it may have for us. We should accept them as part of God’s discipline and programme to bring out the finest and best possibilities of our character when they come.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Difficulties are inevitable for spiritual growth.
THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Numbers 5-7
DCLM Daily Manna was written by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi; is the founder and General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church situated at KM 42 on the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Nigeria.
