I want to categorically state that I am neither for nor against the Governor, nor am I for or against Chief Nyesom Wike. My sole concern is for the ordinary people of Rivers State, who will ultimately bear the brunt of these events.

While I acknowledge that the power to impeach the Governor or Deputy Governor resides with the State Assembly, as stipulated in the Constitution, I urge you to consider the broader implications of this action on the people of Rivers State.

It is true that the Governor and Deputy Governor have erred in law and acted contrary to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, particularly in their alleged attacks on the legislature wherein your salaries and allowances were unlawfully withheld and failure to duly screen commissioners. However, I implore you to consider alternative measures that would address these grievances without resorting to impeachment.

In the spirit of promoting peace and stability in Rivers State, I propose that the impeachment notice be used as a means to bring the Governor to the negotiation table. This would provide an opportunity for constructive dialogue and reconciliation, ultimately leading to a more harmonious relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government.

I humbly request that you consider my plea and temper justice with mercy.

No one has questioned the source of Wike’s stupendous wealth. He did not show us a factory or a successful law firm that he owned. How was he able to singlehandedly purchase the nominations forms for all the candidates, funded their elections and ensured that they all won? Having done that, they permitted him to control the state and its resources.

Without doubt or asking a soothsayer, it is clear that Wike wants Fubara to be impeached by all means. In the end, Wike will be pushed down the political ladder over time. The case of Chris Ubah and Chris Ngige easily come to mind. Chris Ubah wanted his share of the state resources and everything went haywire. Now Chris Ubah is only seen and not heard. The same in the matter of Lamidi Adedibu and Ladoja. No peace until Ladoja was impeached.

Again, it is a lesson for the likes of Fubara, who ride on the backs of men with resources to power. You have no control over yourself.

The citizens of Rivers state have suffered more. With no proper representation, they simply watch and take sides with oppressors. Is it not time to wake up and demand accountability from their leaders?
