PART 2 IS HERE; READ https://www.nairaland.com/8355431/content-writing-beginners-how-identify |
In Part 1 of this post (https://www.nairaland.com/8304257/content-writing-beginners-understanding-target) , I talked about why it is important to know your target audience before writing your blog posts. And I remember promising to show you exactly how to identify your target audience in this part. Like I said, to know your target audience, you need to answer these three key questions: Who are the people likely to read this article? Why will they read it? What kind of value are they expecting to get? Now, let’s tackle the first question: Who are the people likely to read this article? To find out, start by looking at your niche and topic. What kind of people are interested in what you’re writing about? For example, if the topic is "How to Lose Belly Fat," the people most likely to be interested are: People struggling with weight loss Those looking for quick and effective workout routines Individuals trying to improve their diet for better fitness New moms trying to get back in shape after pregnancy Now, how do you know this? Simple. Go to forums like Quora, Reddit, or niche-specific Facebook groups. Search for the topic you’re about to write on and read the questions and discussions people are having. Pay attention to: The exact phrases and concerns they mention Common struggles or misconceptions they express The kind of advice they seem to value most By doing this, you’ll quickly get a clear picture of who your audience is and what they care about, and that will help you tailor your content to meet their needs. Now, for the next question: Why will they read it? Every reader online has a reason for searching for and clicking on an article. They’re looking for something specific maybe they need a solution, guidance, inspiration, or expert advice. For example, if the topic is "How to Lose Belly Fat," why would someone read an article on this? Possible reasons include: They want a quick fix and are looking for fast results. They’ve tried different methods before, but nothing worked, so they’re searching for a better solution. They’re concerned about their health and want to lose belly fat for medical reasons. They have a special event coming up (like a wedding or vacation) and want to look their best. Now, how do you find out their motivation? Easy. Go to platforms like Quora, Reddit, or niche-specific forums and search for your topic. Read the questions people are asking and the problems they’re describing. Look for: The most common concerns people mention. The specific struggles they highlight. The phrases they use when talking about their problem. Once you understand why they’re searching for your topic, you can shape your content to directly address their needs and keep them engaged. Now to the third question: What kind of value are they expecting? No reader clicks on an article without a reason. They already have an idea of what they want to gain, whether it’s a quick answer, a step-by-step guide, or expert insights. Using the same topic as an example. "How to Lose Belly Fat," what kind of value are readers expecting? Some want a simple list of exercises they can start immediately. Others are looking for dietary changes that will help them burn fat faster. Some might want scientific explanations about why belly fat is hard to lose. Others may be searching for real-life success stories for motivation. Now, how do you figure this out? Simple. Search your topic on Google and check the top-ranking results. Pay attention to: The type of content that ranks highest: Are the top results listicles, in-depth guides, case studies, or short answers? Google’s “People Also Ask” section: This shows common follow-up questions people have. Article headlines and meta descriptions: They often highlight the main value that readers expect. The content structure: Are the articles focusing on workouts, diet plans, medical advice, or a mix of all three? Analyzing Google’s top results will help you get a clear idea of what readers expect and you can shape your content to match or exceed those expectations. Now that you have identified your audience; Here’s what to do with this information to ensure your content drives the desired engagement: Use the right tone and style: Speak in a way that resonates with your audience. If they are professionals, be formal and precise. If they are casual readers, keep it relaxed and engaging. Structure your content to match their expectations: Use bullet points, step-by-step guides, or storytelling, depending on what your audience prefers. Provide a clear takeaway: Your content should leave the reader feeling informed, empowered, or ready to take action. Stay close. STRICTLY A SAAS BRAND |
Hi everyone, I’m a SaaS content writer looking to grow my portfolio by collaborating with real SaaS brands. To kick things off, I’m offering to write high-quality blog posts for free in exchange for a byline (my name featured as the author). I’ve worked with leading SaaS marketing agencies like Embaque and TripleDart, but I’m now focused on building direct partnerships with SaaS brands to create great content. If you’re a SaaS company (or know someone who is) and need help with engaging blog posts, this is a win-win: you’ll get valuable content, and I’ll get to showcase my skills. I’m particularly interested in topics like marketing, user experience, and technology, but I’m open to brainstorming ideas that align with your brand’s goals. If this sounds like a good fit, send me a message or tag someone who might be interested. I’d love to collaborate and help your brand stand out! Looking forward to hearing from you. One common mistake every writer must avoid is failing to write for their target audience. Imagine this scenario: Two writers, Writer A and Writer B, are tasked with the same topic: "How to Lose Belly Fat." Writer A crafts an article packed with actionable tips, such as effective exercises, dietary advice, and lifestyle changes specifically focused on belly fat reduction. On the other hand, Writer B throws together random, generic weight-loss tips that aren’t tailored to the topic or the reader’s specific goal. Now, think about it. Which article do you think someone eager to lose belly fat would read, bookmark, share, and leave a comment on? It’s obvious—Writer A’s article. Why? Because Writer A understands the readers' pain points and delivers exactly what they’re looking for. Meanwhile, Writer B’s content will likely struggle to gain engagement because it lacks focus and relevance. So, before you start writing your next piece of content, ask yourself these critical questions: Who are the people most likely to be interested in this topic? Why would they want to read this piece? What kind of value are they expecting to gain after reading? The answers to these questions will shape your content into something your audience will love. In the next part of this post, I’ll show you how to find those answers effectively. Stay close. I'll update this thread and also share on my channels below; https://www.tiktok.com/@tuniphlex https://www.instagram.com/just_tuniphlex https://rankingpen.com |
