Deji Adeyanju, popular rights activist, has said Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, should be rotting in jail rather than running for the presidency.

Adeyanju remarked that Tinubu, who has no known source of income, now has unaccounted billions to his name.

Speaking with DAILY POST, the Convener of Concerned Nigerian, maintained that Tinubu’s decision to run for Presidency is an insult to the sensibility of Nigerians.

The Abuja-based activist lamented that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has refused to act on a petition calling for Tinubu’s prosecution.

According to Deji: “It’s an absurd and insult on the integrity on the sensibility of Nigerians that a man that lacks integrity and character and is notorious for being the chief landlord of Lagos State wants to crave the country into the unfortunate situation Lagos State has found itself where he is milking the poor masses dry.

“Tinubu, who does not have any known past experience, source of income, now has unaccounted billions to the extent of moving them to his house on the eve of the last general elections, which is against the clear provision of the constitution.

“Quote on this, what he did is a gross violation of the provision of the prohibition of the money laundering Act, it’s a clear violation of section one of that Act that forbids all private citizens in Nigeria to have in their possession not more than five million naira cash.

“EFCC has received our letter, and we have a subsisting petition before the commission that we had severally insisted that Tinubu should be prosecuted for money laundering. Somebody who should be in jail is saying he wants to contest to become the president of Nigeria; what an insult to the sensibility of all Nigerians. People like him should be rotting in jail for the damage done to this country.”

Tinubu recently informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his lifelong aspiration to rule Nigeria.

He, however, noted that he was still consulting about running for the Presidency.

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) says it has not endorsed APC national leader Bola Tinubu or anyone as a presidential aspirant for the 2023 general elections.

“The attention of the MACBAN National Headquarters has been drawn to stories in the media claiming that we have endorsed the presidential aspiration of Senator Ahmed Tinubu. We want to make it clear that the association has not endorsed any candidate,” said MACBAN’s national secretary Baba Ngelzarma in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

The Miyetti Allah statement added, “Those who endorsed Tinubu are doing so as individuals, as MACBAN should not in any way be dragged into the politics of endorsement at this stage.”

The Fulani herdsmen association explained that the association respected the aspirations of all presidential aspirants, although it had not yet singled out an individual for support.

On Sunday, one of Miyetti Allah leaders, Ya’u Haruna, said, “We are also scanning the people showing interest in the presidential seat with Bola Tinubu leading because he was the one that intervened in our matter while he was governor of Lagos, and we had a crisis in Benue.”

He stated this after a meeting at the Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute in Abuja.

“Tinubu came all the way, got us on a round table and reconciled us, so, someone who could do this at that time, we believe can do more when he is at the helm of affairs,” added Mr Haruna.

On January 10, Mr Tinubu formally informed the incumbent president of his presidential ambition in 2023. The ex-Lagos governor, who spoke after a closed-door meeting with Mr Buhari at the State House, Abuja, said though he made his intention known to the president, he would continue to consult with Nigerians.

He dismissed the assertion that ”a kingmaker cannot become a king,” saying he would like to take over from Mr Buhari in 2023.

Although I am from the North, I will support Peter Obi if he decides to run for president come 2023. Peter Obi is the best leader from the southeast region. He performed miracles in Anambra state, especially in the education sector. He made Anambra a debt-free state. Infrastructure was not neglected and workers were paid when due. His economic policy was the best. Corruption was zero.

These are what we need in Nigeria. On this note, I call on HE Peter Obi to consider running for President come 2023. I also call on all well-meaning Northerners to rally round and support the emergence of his excellency, Mr Peter Obi, ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

Nigerians deserve the best and Mr Peter Obi is simply the best.
