Full Text Of President Buhari On Nigeria 58th Independence Anniversary https://www.mirrorgist.com/i-promise-to-work-tirelessly-for-the-unity-of-nigeria-buhari/ President Muhammadu Buhari has urged Nigerians to focus on what unites them and promised to work tirelessly for the country’s unity. The President said this in his Independence Day anniversary address to the nation on Monday. As the country turns 58, the President believes it is on the right part, despite challenges, with much worth celebrating. “As we celebrate the 58th Anniversary of our independence, we know we are on the right path. Although we have our differences, they count for far less than the values, virtues and common aspirations that unite us as a nation,” he said. “We have so much for which we should be grateful, and in which we should rightly take pride. Our journey is not finished but we have come a long way.” During the speech, the third Independence Day address by the President since he rose to power in 2015, he spoke on several issues, including security, the economy, social development, environmental degradation, and the 2019 general elections. He also pledged to work towards achieved a united, peaceful and prosperous Nigeria where all can succeed. https://www.mirrorgist.com/i-promise-to-work-tirelessly-for-the-unity-of-nigeria-buhari/ “I want to assure you that as President, I will continue to work tirelessly to promote, protect and preserve what really matters: a united, peaceful, prosperous and secure Nigeria, where all, irrespective of background, can aspire to succeed,” President Buhari said. As his first term draws to a close, President Buhari who is seeking another term in office stressed that progress has been made in the war against insurgency, the herdsmen/farmers crisis, diversifying the economy and more with youths at the centre of the drive. He said, “At the forefront, have always been our youths. They have been at the vanguard of the struggle for independence. They fought in the war to keep the country united. And it was they who kept alive the struggle for democracy and human rights in our country at times when these were at risk, especially following the June 12th, 1993 election and the historic 2015 election process. “Even today, our youths play a central role in Nigeria’s continuing progress and developments in all fields of our national endeavour – technology, agriculture, mining, engineering and especially the creative arts. Together, we are building a more diverse, inclusive and self-reliant economy.” As a result, the President said his administration had, in the past three years, introduced many policies and programmes targeted at youth development and youth empowerment. “We support the ‘not too young to run’ legislation aimed at giving the youths greater say in our national politics and governance,” he said. https://www.mirrorgist.com/i-promise-to-work-tirelessly-for-the-unity-of-nigeria-buhari/ “The school feeding programme in primary schools is aimed at encouraging enrolment and attendance. We are building on what we have already introduced to support schools and universities to which funds have recently been released for upgrade of facilities, training programs for our entrepreneurs, and rehabilitation schemes for victims of terrorism and human trafficking.” Although the President hailed the impact of technology, he warned disruptive and corrosive forces bent on misusing the social media

Senator Banned On Facebook For Criticizing Islam. The official page of Senator Fraser Anning has been removed from Facebook for criticizing Islam, the Koran and Muslims. No Other Candidate Is Like Buhari, He Has All It Takes To Move Nigeria To A Better – Mustapha https://www.mirrorgist.com/no-candidate-like-buhari-takes-move-nigeria-better-mustapha/ A former special adviser on inter-parliamentary affairs, protocol and special duties to the Senate president Bukola Saraki, Alhaji Moshood Mustapha, has said that his decision to stay in the All Progressives Congress (APC) was informed by his belief in the ability of President Muhammadu Buhari. He stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin. He explained that as the coordinator for Buhari/Osinbajo campaign organisation in Kwara in 2015, he was not ready to “dump the ship in the middle of the sea and look for a way to sail out”. “There are ways we can manage our mistakes. It is not about abandoning. “If you say that your wife offends you, she will always offend you and you will also offend her. But you have to manage your mistakes, otherwise you will keep marrying everyday. “There are ways we can manage our mistakes. But you have to manage your mistakes, otherwise you will keep marrying everyday. “A lot of things come around, that is why you should always embrace perseverance. That is what politics should be all about. Mustapha, who also served as a commissioner under Saraki, said his decision to stay with President Buhari was based on personal conviction, feeling and principle. “I must feel comfortable and I must be able to take decision on my own. “So either any leader or no leader, I choose to work with him when I was with him. I was not coerced to work with him when I was with him. “It was based on my own personal conviction, it was about my personal feeling and when I feel otherwise, I decided to take the next step. “I am on my own. I take decision and I face the consequences of my actions. It is based on my personal volition that I decided to venture into politics in the first instance,” he said. The former member of the federal House of Representatives stated that he decided to move with the progressives because of some of the things that were happening at the state level. “And I decided on my own that aside this Buhari, I have not seen any other candidates like him. “If anybody wants to come out, let me see what he has for the goodness of our people”, said the former to Saraki aide. Mustapha, who is aspiring for governorship seat in state on the platform of the APC, explained that he could not because of his former principal, turn to a nomadic politician, who jumps from one party to another. NLC Instructs All Unions, Civil Society To Embark On Warning Strike Tomorrow . The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has directed all unions and civil society to embark on the warning strike which is starting from midnight, September 26, 2018. The NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, who gave the directive in Abuja said the decision was as a result of the refusal of the Federal Government to reconvene the Tripartite Committee on a new National Minimum Wage. President Muhammadu Buhari had in November 2017, inaugurated a tripartite committee with the view of negotiating a new national minimum wage for the country. The government assured workers that the committee, which started sitting in March 2018 will conclude its findings by the end of the month. The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, had also assured the workers of a new wage by the end of the third quarter but later announced that the committee is yet to finalise. He stated that the government needed more time to consult before arriving at a figure and later adjourned meetings. The labour union upon the development accused the government of delaying the process and issued a two-week ultimatum which elapses today. The organised labour is alleging that its request to reconvene a tripartite committee on the national minimum wage for workers was not met, and the leaders have cautioned the Federal Government against foot-dragging on the new minimum wage. NLC President, however, states that the warning strike will remain in force until further directives are conveyed. With regards to the state government insisting that some of the states cannot pay the proposed new minimum wage, he said the new minimum wage is constitutional and state governments should be compelled to pay. The leadership of labour is expected to meet with the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige at 1 pm today.

Senior Army Officers Unlawfully Retired by FG. On June, 2016 Petitioned Buhari. The Chief Trial Counsel to the 38 senior army officers compulsorily retired on June 9, 2016 by the federal government, Abdul Muhammed, has petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari for what he described as unlawful disengagement from service of the officers. He said for two years the affected officers have repeatedly requested the Nigeria Army leadership to state the offences which gave rise to the punishment, but that the army leadership has not been able to state the specific offence. Report made available by our reporters said that the lawyer said the only explanation they have been given was that the punishment came ‘from above’, signifying that President Buhari ordered for the punishment and or retirement of the 38 army officers. READ ALSO: Just In: Confusion In Aso Rock, As Federal High Court Delivers Powerful Judgement Against President Buhari’s Government He said: “However, none of these officers has ever had any personal interactions with Mr. President to warrant a decision by the Commander-in-Chief to punish them and without recourse to due process at that. “Mr. President, you have put out a reputation of being a man of justice, dignity and integrity but you have yet to prove it to all Nigerians in the case of these innocent 38 army officers. In the past two years, grave injustice has been meted to them, and in spite of earlier passionate letters of redress to you as their Commander-in-Chief, you have been curiously silent. Records will bear me out in stating that as counsel I have also written directly to you about their plight. The Councel said “My letters elicited the strangest stance of non-responsiveness to the legitimate respective appeals of these 38 Army Officers, and I was forced to cause the publication of my two previous appeals in open letter format and these letters were duly published in the Daily Trust newspaper of July 6, 2017 and October 31, 2017 respectively.” He said it was sad that that nothing has been done for over two years to review the serious injustice that the troika of Minister of Defence, Maj. Gen. Mohammed Mansur Dan-Alli, Chief of Defence Staff, General AG Olonsakin and Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai meted to the officers. He noted that none of the 38 senior officers compulsorily retired was at any time ever charged, tried by a court martial or found guilty of any offence in line with Armed Forces extant rules and regulations, before they respectively heard of their retirement in the media. “After the very public dismissal of the 38 senior army officers, the Minister of Defence and the Chief of Army Staff went to the media with the narrative that the 38 army officers were professionally corrupt and that these officers were punished after due process. These are untrue statements because the dismissed officers we never indicted or found culpable at all and there was a complete failure to follow the processes laid down by the Nigeria Army with respect to these wrongful and illegal dismissals. “Sir, whereas it has been eerie silence from Your Excellency despite the several letter(s) of redress from the 38 Army Officers, both the Senate and the House of Representatives have given a hearing to petitions of members of the Army 38. The Nigerian Congress through their respective Public Petition Committees after their respective investigations of the matter had admonished the Nigerian Army over arbitrary disengagement of officers, as this action would discourage serving officers and soldiers from giving their full commitment to the service of the nation.read more news www.mirrorgist.com

Anglican Bishop Delivers Powerful Sermon In The Church Against President Buhari, What He Said Will Shock You (Must Read) https://www.mirrorgist.com/anglican-bishop-delivers-powerful-sermon-church-president-buhari-said-will-shock-must-read/ Anglican Bishop Delivers Powerful Sermon In The Church Against President Buhari, What He Said Will Shock You (Must Read). The Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Ondo, Stephen Oni, on Sunday, September 16, said Nigeria needs a young and visionary person to become the next president. The Bishop also urged President Muhammadu Buhari to drop his re-election ambition for 2019 presidential election. According to Oni, some politicians in Nigeria had overstayed their time in office and refused to leave the political offices for the younger generation. He said such overstay by these politicians is one of the problems the country was facing. Punch reports that the Bishop in his charge, titled, ‘Responsibility, not title,’ Oni lamented the recycling of old politicians in power at all levels of government in the country. He said accused Nigeria politicians of going to any length to perpetuate themselves in power. “They want to die in office. No wonder, people have thrown caution into the air, we could see impunity everywhere. Worthy legacy is not there, we are only recycling rust brains, they will come back again with their pictures, when they give you N1,000 with the popular chant to ‘vote and cook soup’,” Oni said.
