At over N1000 per liter for Petrol or Diesel it is very obvious that things would no longer be at ease for a lot of families and business owners in our dear country.

If for instance, 5 liters of fuel is used daily to fuel gen, that's over 5k daily and around , 150k monthly and 1.8m annually ! may God have mercy on us ooo.

But in any case, may God in His abundance continue to bless us so that no matter how bad it can get, we would not be forced to reduce our level of comfort and productivity which regular lights affords us.

Alternatively, I'll advise that people should switch to solar. Solar is the way to go in this present situation that we have all found ourselves in today's Nigeria. For those who cannot afford solar, they can settle for a non-solar inverter solution which is less cheaper. They would just need like 7 hours of Electricity daily to enable them charge their inverter batteries. But with the Solar type, the panels would handle the chores of charging the batteries for you as long as there is sunlight.

With low energy consuming appliances like fans, bulbs, tvs, freezers, ACs etc , your energy consumption would be significantly reduced so that your solar system or battery system is sufficient enough to power your house for a long time and meet your energy need .

If we look at the economic side of it, you would find out that someone who is spending about 2m (gen servicing included) to run his backup generator power would be spending like 8m if he or she were to continue like that for the next 4 years.

An inverter system with a good set of batteries can serve you for that same 4 years or more before you change the batteries and you wont need to spend up to half of 8m to set it up. So in the long run, inverter/solar is far cheaper and better than generator powered by a very expensive fuel.
