The African man is known as the “Angolan Jaw of Awe”. When he stretches out his mouth, it measures in at 16.99 cm wide — big enough to fit an entire can of cola inside! https://africagossipnews.com/whyareyoustillhere/2014/08/wide-2.jpg https://africagossipnews.com/whyareyoustillhere/2014/08/wide-4.jpg See more on http://www.askranker.com/2014/08/unbelievable-man-with-widest-mouth-in.html |
1) The Beechworth Lunatic Asylum, Australia https://www.globalpost.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/gp3_slideshow_large/photos/2013-October/beechworthwc.jpg Abandoned asylums, for my money, are the creepiest places ever, and Australia has a good one. The Beechworth Lunatic Asylum — originally called Mayday Hills Lunatic Asylum — is located in Victoria, Australia. It served as a mental hospital from 1867 until 1995. At its highest capacity, 1,200 patients lived there. About 9,000 patients died in its 130-year history, and there’s little doubt those souls are haunting it this very day. Visitors can take a nighttime ghost tour, to which I say, no thank you. 2) The Princess Theatre, Australia https://www.globalpost.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/gp3_slideshow_large/photos/2013-October/princesstheatrewc.jpg Elsewhere in Australia, you’ll find the Princess Theatre, which is haunted by a ghost named Frederici. According to lore, Frederick Baker, or “Frederici,” was an Italian baritone singer who died on stage in 1888. He was finishing a performance as Mephistopheles in Faust when a trapdoor dropped beneath his feet and he fell beneath the stage, dying from a heart attack. For many years, the Princess Theater saved an open seat for Frederic at every opening-night performance. 3) The Bhanghar Fort, India https://www.globalpost.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/gp3_slideshow_large/photos/2013-October/bhangarhfortwc.jpg If you’re not scared yet, head over to India, where you’ll find the Bhanghar Fort in the Alwar district of Rajasthan. The fort was built in 1573 and remains today a ruin of several temples, palaces, and smaller living units. According to legend, the fort became cursed when a wizard who lived in the town fell in love with the princess of Banghar. Drawing on his skills in black magic, rather than on his interpersonal skills, he tried to woo the princess with a bowl of magic potion. It didn’t work. She figured out the play and threw the bowl against a large boulder. The boulder was disturbed enough to start rolling, and it rolled right in the path of the wizard. As the wizard faced down the boulder, he cursed the town, saying that it would be destroyed and become uninhabitable. He was crushed to death. Soon after, the town was invaded and pillaged. Most of its inhabitants, including the princess, were killed. Those who lived abandoned the fort. The wizard’s curse remains, of course, and the ghosts of those killed continnue to haunt the fort. The Archaeological Survey of India, which manages the site, forbids anyone from staying at the fort after dark. 4) Aokigahara, Japan https://www.globalpost.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/gp3_slideshow_large/photos/2013-October/aokigaharaforestwc.jpg If you’ve ever visited this haunted place, you’re way braver than I am. At the base of Mt. Fugi, you’ll find Aokigahara, Japan’s globally infamous Suicide Forest. Hundreds of people have journeyed into the forest to kill themselves amidst its dense trees and vines, so many people that the local police do annual sweeps to clear away the bodies. They no longer publicize the number of bodies discovered, out of fear that those numbers actually encourage suicides. In 2004, 108 people committed suicide there. Signs around the forest placed by local police plead with suicidal visitors to reconsider: “Your life is a precious gift to your parents” and “Please consult with the police before you decide to die.” Understandably, many people believe that the forest is haunted by the souls of those who have died there. Others point to a different haunting origin, though. According to one legend, during times of famine in ancient Japan, families couldn’t feed themselves. Some would be abandoned in Aokigahara, where they died of starvation. Those ghosts haunt the forest today, of course. It’s an all around terrifying place. 5) Iulia Hasdeu Castle, Romania https://www.globalpost.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/gp3_slideshow_large/photos/2013-October/iulia_hasdeu_castlewc.jpg The Iulia Hasdeu Castle was built by Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu in Campina, Romania after the death of his 19-year-old daughter, Iulia. Hasdeu dedicated the castle and the rest of his life to lulia. He became a practitioner of spiritualism in an attempt to reconnect with her spirit, and designed one room in the castle solely for the purposes of these daily spiritual exercises. Its walls are all black. Iulia reportedly haunts the castle still, walking through the courtyard in a white dress and holding daisies. Oh, and she still plays the piano each night. 6) Hell Fire Club on Montpelier Hill, Ireland https://www.globalpost.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/gp3_slideshow_large/photos/2013-October/hellfire1.jpg The Hell Fire Club on Montpelier Hill was built as a hunting lodge in 1725 and reportedly became a gathering place for a small group of Dublin elites who met for debauchery and devil worship. Tales of animal sacrifice, black masses, cloven-hoofed men, and murder surround the structure. It’s another popular destination for tourists and ghost tours. - See more at: http://www.askranker.com/2014/08/10-most-haunted-places-around-world.html |
#8 Pope Sergius III https://static9.therichestimages.com/cdn/432/627/90/cw/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Pope_Sergius_III.jpg Not a whole lot is known about Sergius III as his papacy was right in the middle of the Dark Ages. He ascended to the throne in 904 and ruled for 7 years until 911, but he did enough to develop a pretty bad reputation in the meantime. He allegedly orchestrated the murder of his predecessor Leo V from prison and had a child with a mistress that would grow up to be Pope John IX. He also participated as a co-judge in the Cadaver Synod – which we’ll get into shortly – a posthumous trial of the late pope Formosus that is easily the most insane moment in the history of the papacy. He came from a family of Roman nobility and exercised his power to strengthen the Roman noble class. His main concerns during his reign were his power and se'x life, . #7 Pope Julius III https://static3.therichestimages.com/cdn/864/711/90/cw/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Pope-Julius-III.jpg The papacy of Pope Julius III began in 1550 and would be a relatively brief affair, coming to an end upon his death in 1555. At the beginning of his brief reign, Julius seemed determined to push through church reforms that he felt were important, but he quickly grew tired of papal affairs and spent the bulk of his time relaxing and pursuing simple pleasures – like picking up a teenage boy off the street and making him his lover. Julius III was so smitten with this boy, Innocenzo Ciocchi Del Monte, that he ended up making him his adopted nephew and promoted him to cardinal while he was still an adolescent, bringing the concept of the ‘creepy uncle’ to an entirely new level that has yet to be equaled in history. The Innocenzo scandal outraged the other cardinals so much that in time it has become the defining feature of his entire papal reign. #6 Pope Paul III https://static4.therichestimages.com/cdn/864/984/90/cw/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Pope-Paul-III.jpg Paul III was actually Julius III’s immediate predecessor and his reign had significantly less child rape, but what he lacked in creepiness he made up for in general ruthlessness and corruption. Paul III allegedly murdered his mother and his niece to inherit the family fortune prior to becoming Pope and was quick to execute anyone who annoyed him by strangulation and then immolation – you know, just in case. On one hand he did come out strong against enslavement of native Americans in the New World, but on the other hand, his most famous lover was his daughter Constanza Farnese. He was also totally anti-corruption, bringing about ruthless penalties for church members who were caught lining their pockets – but he also took a cut of the profits of Rome’s 45,000 prostitutes. #5 Pope Urban II https://static6.therichestimages.com/cdn/864/576/90/cw/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Pope-Urban-II.jpg Pope Urban II took no children as lovers and was relatively light on the corruption compared to some of his contemporaries, but he one-upped most of them thanks to his burning desire to initiate the First Crusade, the first of many conflicts between Christianity and Islam whose ramifications still echo today. Urban II decreed that: “All who die by the way, whether by land or by sea, or in battle against the pagans, shall have immediate remission of sins. This I grant them through the power of God with which I am invested.” By giving every murderer, rapist and thief a last ditch chance at entering the kingdom of God, he guaranteed a sizeable army that would be ready and willing to invade the holy land. #4 Pope Benedict IX https://static8.therichestimages.com/cdn/864/648/90/cw/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Pope-Benedict-IX.jpg In 1032 Benedict IX became the youngest pope to ever take the papal seat, with some accounts stating he was only 11 or 12 years old at the time of his promotion to the papacy, although official records state he was closer to 20. Instead of opting for the role of merciful child-ruler, Benedict IX modelled himself more after Game of Thrones’ Joffrey Baratheon – in other words, he was a kind of a dick. Later Popes such as Victor III described his reign so: “His life as a pope was so vile, so foul, so execrable, that I shudder to think of it.” Considering his competition, that says quite a bit. He was said to have hosted all-male orgies in the Lateran palace and freely raped men, women, children and animals. Benedict IX also holds the distinction of being the only man to sell the papacy, which he later regretted and took back by force. He later abdicated the papacy and was excommunicated, dying as a normal – but unreasonably rich – man. #3 Pope Stephen VI https://static8.therichestimages.com/cdn/864/573/90/cw/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Cadaver-Synod.jpg Stephen VI wasn’t set on living a life of debauchery like his contemporaries, but the guy definitely knew how to hold a grudge. When he rose to power he had the remains of his predecessor Formosus exhumed so that the corpse could stand trial. Yes, you read that correctly. The whole ordeal became known as the Cadaver Synod, and it was easily the strangest episode in papal history. Stephen VI made Formosus’s corpse stand trial and answer for his ‘crimes’, which were mostly just decrees and actions that Stephen VI had disagreed with while Formosus was alive. The corpse was placed on a throne and dressed in the garments of a corpse, and when the guilty verdict was reached the body was beheaded and cast into the Tiber river. Stephen VI also made all of Formosus’s decrees effectively null and void, making it as if he had never ruled. The Cadaver Synod raised such an uproar that Stephen VI himself was strangled to death a month after its completion – but at least he showed Formosus who the boss was. #2 Pope John XII Lots of popes got their freak on in the Vatican – which is insane considering that officially they were all celibate – but John XII may have embraced his libido more than any of his contemporaries. He became pope at only 18 years old, and immediately developed a reputation for rape and deviant sexual activity. He allegedly raped his two sisters regularly, ordained a 10-year-old as bishop (because why not?), refused to make the sign of the cross and invoked pagan gods when gambling. He also took particular enjoyment in having sex around the Vatican’s most holy sites, such as the tombs of St. Peter and St. Paul. When not getting his freak on, he enjoyed arbitrarily torturing and castrating cardinals. His 9-year reign began in 955 and ended in 964 after he was murdered by a jealous husband who caught the pope in bed with his wife, which, to be honest, is probably how he wanted to go out. #1 Pope Alexander VI Alexander VI was so un-Christ-like that there’s an entire modern television drama dedicated to the antics of him and his family. You may know him by his family name – Rodrigo Borgia. The Borgia’s were a wealthy merchant family that effectively bought their way into Rodrigo becoming pope in 1492. Once installed as pope, the good times began to roll for the Borgia family. Alexander VI hosted the most elaborate orgies the Vatican had ever seen; 50 prostitutes crammed into a single hall where the pope and members of his clergy ran wild on them. He assigned some clergymen to abstain from the celebratory orgy, but to instead watch over the debauchery and keep track of the amount of orgasms each clergyman achieved, as he believed virility was a sign of strength and he wanted to keep statistics on his entourage. He would marry off his daughter Lucrezia to rich merchants, then declare the marriage null and void – he was the pope after all – and absorb all of their money. Alexander VI and his family effectively pillaged the upper class of Rome, stealing their fortunes and killing their opposition at will. His 11-year papacy came to an end in 1503, when one of the many assassins hired to kill him finally succeeded in their attempts. He was poisoned and died slowly over the next few days at the age of 72 more on http://www.askranker.com/2014/08/the-8-most-evil-popes-in-catholic.html |

His amazing collection of portraits captured the eye of the internet, and then his sweet nature and positivity won them over. One of the captions on his photos, “he is planet” has become a catchphrase for his fans, who post tributes on his Facebook page. “Fame like salty water: drinking increases thirst,” Ahmed wisely mused. “With the fame there are a lot of problems, but I know myself very well, and I trust God. I dealt with the fame wisely and intelligently.” He is still in school studying medicine, and he plans on continuing despite his large internet following. “I have a lot of imaginations and plans about my future, but that depends on my God and his judgement and his decision,” says Ahmed. Ahmed’s fans have been making tribute collages of him. Ahmed's fans have been making tribute collages of him. Off the weirdness scale altogether is artist Terence Koh, who sold his gold plated feces for $500,000. Luckily, no pictures seem to have survived, and you won’t find that on this list. But from caskets to gold toilets, here are the most strangest and some of the most expensive items of their kind made with solid gold. Gold Pill: $425 each Designed by Tobias Wong, these pill cases are part of a total luxury line by Citizen Citizen. Listed as currently unavailable on their site, the 24 carat gold pills are made from gold leaf and then dipped in gold. A thirty day supply would cost nearly $13,000 (or $152,000 a year). New York’s Museum of Modern Art made the pills part of its “Indulgence” exhibition in 2005. What does not bear thinking about is the fact that at the end of the day, the gold will re-emerge into the world. Is that the weirdest part? The Gold Facial: $1,000 When looked at against other things in this article, a two hour $1,000 facial seems like a bargain. It’s all relative. Cleopatra was said to spread solid gold over her face each night in order to preserve her youthful beauty. In 2006, Japanese compay Umo, Inc. put out a 24 carat gold facial. Don’t look for it at your favorite spa; it is available at places like Raffles Dubai Hotel and Harrods. Apparently, beauty experts have put some mumbo jumbo credibility into the claim of gold’s beneficial effects on the skin. Remember the joke in the movie Mama Mia when Christine Baranski’s character was said to have face cream made from donkeys testicles, caviar and gold…? $35,000 chocolate pudding Edible gold leaf is the darling of the upmarket food world. Take any old dish and throw in some gold leaf and a few diamonds and you end up with what your marketing people will be ecstatic to dub “the most expensive” in the world. And if you can get into the Guinness Book of Records, you’ve made it big time. Gold leaf is thrown into everything from pizza to cupcakes. This “pudding”, that looks more like a $35,000 brownie, is adorned with gold leaf, caviar and a 2 carat diamond. The posh country house hotel in the U.K’s. Lake District claims that it is the most expensive dessert in the world and you have to order it two weeks in advance. Gold Casket: $50,000 Manufactured by the aptly named Golden Caskets, this 24 carat gold handmade final resting place sports Ruby Red velvet interior trim. And you get a certificate of authenticity, a matching Gold Reflection Picture Frame and a Gold Keepsake Box to take with you. The company web site is too discreet to mention anything so vulgar as price, but research reveals a value of around $50,000 which makes it, unofficially, the most expensive modern casket in the world. Gold Shirt: $250,000 The shirt made for and worn by Indian Datta Phuge was made from 14,000 pieces of 22 carat gold, by Rankar Jewelers. It took 15 craftsmen 16 days to turn it out. Nicknamed “the gold man” Phuge is a dazzling sight, with gold everywhere on his body. The shirt, which weighs 7 pounds, doesn’t get out much, as Phuge only wears it to special occasions. Toilet and Toilet Paper: Toilet – $2.5 million, Toilet Paper – $1.3 million And you thought Kanye and Kim spending nearly $1 million for mere gold plated toilets was extravagant… In Hong Kong we find the most expensive restroom in the world. Built by the Hang Fung Gold Technology Group in 2001, it has 24 carat gold and jewel embellished walls and a solid gold toilet. Not sheets of gold, but solid gold. Said to be worth $2.5 million, the toilet remains unused and intact. At least if the Hong Kong economy goes belly up, they can always liquidated their asset. And for the ultimate throwaway luxury, consider the $1.3 million solid gold roll of toilet paper produced by Australian company The Toilet Paper Man. Cue plenty of jokes about flushing your money down the toilet. Abu Dhabi Christmas Tree: $11 million Erected in 2010 in a 7 star Abu Dhabi hotel, this tree is certified by Guinness as the most expensive decorated tree in the world. The 40 foot evergreen is bedecked with gold bows, ornaments and garlands. Gold wrapping paper adorns the presents at its base. And it drips precious stones. Compared to the toilet, it seems almost normal. - See more at: http://www.askranker.com/2014/08/10-most-expensive-everyday-items-made.html |

Weird creatures tend to show their faces on the planet Earth. Thanks to the Internet we are able to see a lot of freaky unexplainable photos of creatures we are tempted to call monsters. These are, as we see them, top 5 weirdest creatures ever found on the face of the Earth. Piglet With Monkey’s Face https://www.chilloutpoint.com/images/2010/07/weirdest-creatures-ever/weirdest-creatures-ever-11.jpg The animal has a simian jaw, bulging forehead, small snout and eyes that are so close together that they appear almost attached. Its front legs are much shorter than its back legs, causing it top hop rather than walk on all fours like a normal piglet. The animal was one of five piglets recently born to a sow owned by a family in Fengzhang village, Xiping township. “It’s hideous. No one will be willing to buy it, and it scares the family to even look at it,” owner Feng Changlin told the Oriental Today newspaper. But the monkey-piglet has become something of a local tourist attraction, with people coming from across the area to photograph its remarkable features. And not everyone in the family is disgusted by its appearance. “Our son likes to play with it, and he stopped us from getting rid of it. He even feeds it milk,” said Mr Feng’s wife. The piglet’s rare condition is thought to be caused by a form of holoprosencephaly, a brain development disorder that can cause cyclopia, the failure of eyes to properly separate. https://www.chilloutpoint.com/images/2010/07/weirdest-creatures-ever/weirdest-creatures-ever-13.jpg A goat with seven legs has been born recently in Jiaoliuhe township, Taonan, Jilin Province in China. The owner of the goat, a woman surnamed Song, explained that it was a difficult birth but the goat is standing on four of it’s legs and is feeding. “It was very difficult for the goat to deliver the kid, so I used my hand to pull out. It scared me!” the owner said. “It is the first time I’ve seen anything like this in 13 years.” Animal experts, a local biologist Li Chunsheng have said the chances of long term survival are slim. This is what Olu has to say: “ It is always good when God gives you your friend as spouse, when you meet your friend as your wife, life would be much easier because when others fail, you would succeed with friendship. Joke is more than a friend to me, she is a mother, a friend and a very caring, generous and deep person† Tunde and Wunmi Obe(T.W.O) have been singing together right from university days(married 11yrs). They’ve always been working together in whateverventure they get into. In his words Tunde tells what has kept them together: “First and foremost, it is God. Without Him, we couldn’t have lasted this long and secondly, there is this mutual respect. And from the beginning she saw me as someone who had something to offer. And its vice versa. She matches up with me intellectually and socially. You should marry someone that can measure up to your intelligence. We also communicate a lot, and the respect between us makes it easier. I see her as my equal, I don’t talk to her in a condescending manner, neither do I use derogatory words for her. There is also the love factor, but we also made up our minds that we were going to ensure it worksâ€. They complement each other and make up for each other’s weaknesses. Hear what Betty has to say: “The truth about marriage is that there isn’t one that is perfect. We are talking about strangers meeting, courting each other and deciding to spend the rest of their lives together. There could be things that could create a strain in the early years of the marriage, but marriage in itself is a relationship where you continue to learn…So we must continue to feed our marriages with love, appreciate the other person and know that neither the wife nor the husband is a magician. So don’t expect that your husband would know that right now you are not feeling happy. The only way he would know is by telling him, so stop over-expectation. People are full of expectations in marriage and that can create a lot of strain…Let your marriage be your marriage. As much as possible, lock out people who don’t need to be part of the marriage. Marriage is all about what you put into it.† Charly Boy and Lady Di(married 32yrs) have also been working together and have been people of like passion. The Seven Wonders of the World is a well known traditional list of seven astonishing constructions of the ancient times. As people knew little about the world beyond the Mediterranean rim at that time, this list only has a collection of works located around that area. The two lists which were the most famous of many such lists were the ones complied by Philo of Byzantium and by Antipater of Sidon. As the Greeks considered seven as a magical number, the list of Wonders of the World had seven members. The Seven Wonders of the World include: 1. The Pyramids of Giza: The Pyramids of Egypt were built during 2700-2500 B.C in Giza on the west bank of the Nile and are the most ancient of the Wonders of the World.. The first three of the ten pyramids at Giza are considered to be the most important. The first pyramid is the largest and is known as the Great Pyramid. It was built for Pharaoh Khufu. It spans 13 acres and is 450 feet high. The pyramid shape resembles the slanting rays of the sun and it is also thought that that the slanting sides helped the king’s soul to climb up and meet the gods. 2. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon: Adding to the beauty of the Seven Wonders of the World, these gardens were built on a brick terrace in 605 B.C by a great king named Nebuchadnezzar II for one of his beloved wives. As was claimed by a Babylonian priest, they were spread over an area of 400 square feet and were 75 feet high above the ground. Nebuchadnezzar employed slaves to transport water from the nearby river Euphrates and the maintenance of the gardens. It is a pity that these beautiful gardens no longer exist. 3. The Statue of Zeus at Olympia: In 435 B.C, a temple was built in Olympia to honor the Greek god Zeus. For the inside of this temple, a statue of Zeus was sculpted by Phidias on ivory. The statue was covered by a golden robe and had a wreath on the head. The figure of Nike, his messenger, was in its right hand and there was a scepter in its left hand. It was transported to Constantinople to increase its life where this Wonder of the World was unluckily destroyed by a fire in A.D 462. 4. The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus: Chersiphron and his son Metagenes were the architects behind the construction of this Wonder of the World in 550 B.C. The temple had a captivating marble sanctuary and its roof was made of wood and covered with tiles. The base occupied an area close to 200 feet by 400 feet. The inner space had two rows of not less than 106 columns, each column being 40 to 60 feet high. After being burnt and rebuilt several times, this temple was finally destroyed by an angry mob in 401 A.D. 5. The Colossus of Rhodes: This Wonder of the World was built as a celebration for the unity of the three city states of Rhodes in early 200 B.C. The Greek sculptor Charles was given the charge to build this bronze statue to honor the sun good Helios. It was a 120 feet high statue which was built on a headland and overlooked the water. Its internal support system consisted of stone blocks and iron bars. But, as nature would have it, it was destroyed by an earthquake just 56 years after it had been built. - See more at: http://www.askranker.com/2014/08/the-seven-wonders-of-world.html |

Try booking a suite at Hotel Costa Verde. Hotel owner and architect Allan Templeton salvaged a 1965 Boeing 727 and renovated the interior to house two guest rooms, both fully equipped with air conditioning, private bathrooms and kitchenettes. When we started out on this journey of the feet, we weren’t really sure what we were going to find. We knew that while everyone unreasonably expects celebrity women to be perfect from head to toe, that’s unrealistic. It’s enough for us that they have style and grace, most, if not all, of the time. What we didn’t anticipate, though, was exactly whose feet didn’t seem like they had been so graceful. We love the celebrities on this list, but we are honestly wondering with all the money and resources that these women have access too, why are their feet so frawked up?! 1.Naomi Campbell. https://rollingout.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/bunyans-naomi-campbell-ugly-feet.jpg 2.Paris Hilton. https://rollingout.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/bunyans-paris-hilton.jpg 3.Oprah. https://cdn.styleblazer.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/art-oprah-feet.jpg?timestamp=1407097470 4.Katie Holmes. https://rollingout.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/bunyans-katie-holmes-ugly-feet.jpg 5.Iman https://rollingout.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/bunyans-iman-feet.jpg 6.Serena Williams. https://i.imgur.com/mBypW.jpg See more at: http://www.askranker.com/2014/08/top-7-ugliest-celebrity-feet-photos.html |

It’s always nice to see a shirtless man on MH, it’s even nicer when that shirtless man is soccer stud Ronaldo. And while you could do a load of laundry on his abs, Ronaldo insists they just come with the job: “I don’t do special exercise to get a six-pack,” he tells the magazine. “I train to be strong for the whole season.” We never need a reason to ogle one of nature’s most perfect creations, but here are some photos and gifs that attest to Cristiano Ronaldo’s “fitness.” - See more at: http://www.askranker.com/2014/08/cristiano-ronaldo-named-fittest-man.html |

As the military technology advances, these most expensive military aircraft in the world were created. For the need of more powerful means of defense, flying military technology is/was developed. Even creating a highly cost military equipment is not debatable by some people as it’s wasting government’s money, but the show must go on. Here’s the Top 10 most expensive military aircraft ever made in the world. B-2 Spirit: $2.4 billion https://www.therichest.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/b2_spirit.jpg The B-2 bomber was so costly that Congress cut its initial 1987 purchase order from 132 to 21... (A 2008 crash leaves the current number at 20.) The B-2 is hard to detect via infrared, acoustic, electromagnetic, visual or radar signals. This stealth capability makes it able to attack enemy targets with less fear of retaliation. In use since 1993, the B-2 has been deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. F-22 Raptor: $350 million https://www.therichest.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/f22_raptor.jpg First conceived during the Cold War as an airframe to vie with Soviet aircraft that was never built, the F-22 is touted by manufacturer Lockheed Martin as the best overall combat plane in the world — not to mention the most expensive. It can shoot down enemy cruise missiles, fly long distances at supersonic speeds and avoid nearly all types of radar detection. But the Senate debate over whether to build seven more — at a taxpayer cost of $1.67 billion — eventually came down to the plane’s job-creating abilities. The axed project would have employed 25,000 Americans. C17A Globemaster III: $328 million https://www.therichest.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/c17a_globemaster3.jpg The Air Force military-transport plane is used to move troops into war zones, perform medical evacuations and conduct airdrop missions. There are 190 C17As in service; the aircraft is propelled by four turbofan engines (of the same type used on the twin-engine Boeing 757) and can drop 102 paratroopers at once. In operation since 1993, it has been used to deliver troops and humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and Iraq. P-8A Poseidon: $290 million https://www.therichest.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/p8a_poseidon.jpg Boeing’s spruced-up military version of its 737 jet will be used by the Navy to conduct anti-submarine warfare and gather intelligence. It can carry torpedoes, missiles, depth charges and other weapons. The P-8A is expected to go into service in 2013. VH-71 Kestrel: $241 million https://www.therichest.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/vh71_kestrel.jpg This high-tech helicopter project, intended to replace the President’s aging chopper fleet, was running more than 50% over budget by the time Barack Obama took office. Soon after his Inauguration, the President announced plans to scrap the helicopters because of cost overruns. On July 22, however, the House Appropriations Committee unanimously approved restoring $485 million to fund the Kestrels. E-2D Advanced Hawkeye: $232 million https://www.therichest.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/e2d_hawkeye.jpg A major step forward for surveillance and reconnaissance, the Advanced Hawkeye’s powerful new radar system will increase the range of territory an aircraft can monitor by 300%. “It can probably watch the pistachios pop in Iran,” an analyst for the think tank Lexington Institute told National Defense in July. Though development of the plane is on track and two test versions have been delivered to the Navy, budget cuts may keep the planes grounded for at least a year longer than planned. - See more at: http://www.askranker.com/2014/07/top-10-most-expensive-military-planes.html |
There are two animals which could top the list of the most poisonous animals in the world. The King Cobra is considered the world's most venomous snake, growing up to 5.6 m (18.5 ft) in length. https://mostextreme.org/images/most_poisonous_animal.jpg It is also called Ophiophagus which also means "snake-eater”, because it eats other snakes. One single bite of this deadly snake can easily kill a human. This snake is even capable of killing a full-grown Asian Elephant within 3 hours if the larger animal is bitten in a vulnerable area such as the trunk. During a bite, venom is forced through the snake's half-inch (1.25 cm) fangs into the wound, and quickly attacks the victim's central nervous system, inducing severe pain, blurred vision, vertigo, drowsiness, and paralysis. Envenomation progresses to cardiovascular collapse, and the victim falls into a coma. Death soon follows due to respiratory failure.. Its venom is not as toxic as other venomous snakes, but King Cobra is capable of injecting 5 times more venom than black mamba and can result in mortality up to 5 times faster than that of the black mamba. It is quite widespread, ranging across South and South-east Asia, living in dense highland forests. The Box Jellyfish is also considered to be the most poisonous animal. It has causes thousands of deaths. It’s toxins attack the heart, nervous system, and skin cells. https://www.lovethesepics.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Jellyfish-going-with-the-flow.jpg And the worst part of it is that jelly box venom is so overpoweringly painful, that human victims go in shock, drown or die of heart failure before even reaching shore. Survivors experience pain weeks after the contact with box jellies. Box jellyfish are distinguished by their cube-shaped medusae. Box jellyfish are known for the extremely potent venom produced by some species. Chironex fleckeri, Carukia barnesi and Malo kingi are among the most venomous creatures in the world. Stings from these and a few other species in the class are extremely painful and sometimes fatal to humans. Image result for Malo kingi Malo kingi Once a tentacle of the box jellyfish adheres to skin, it pumps nematocysts with venom into the skin, causing the sting and agonizing pain. - See more at: http://www.askranker.com/2014/07/see-most-poisonous-animal-in-world.html |

10. A True and Perfect Relation of the Whole Proceedings Against the Late Most Barbarous Traitors, Garnet A Jesuit and His Confederates 1606: Skin “Donor”: Father Henry Garnet https://www.toptenz.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/A-True-and-Perfect-Relation-of-the-Whole-Proceedings-Against-the-Late-Most-Barbarous-Traitors.jpg A True and Perfect Relation of the Whole Proceedings Against the Late Most Barbarous Traitors This book was a recollection of failure and subsequent arrest and execution of the Gunpowder Plotters. The Gunpowder Plotters were a group of Catholic rebels who in 1605 tried to kill the Protestant King James I of England, his eldest son, and much of the English court and government. Their plan was to explode gunpowder during a session of the Houses of Parliament. The attempt, which was later named the Gunpowder Plot of 1605, failed. The participants were all discovered and executed. The most famous of these was Guy Fawkes. However, one of his co-conspirators was Father Henry Garnet, the head of the Jesuits in England. It was his flesh which was used after his execution to bind this book. The book has a Latin inscription on its cover which, when translated, reads “severe penitence punished the flesh.” This is one of the most famous examples of anthropodermic bibliopegy since many believe that you can make out the Father’s face, forever twisted in agony, on its cover. 9. Practicarum Quaestionum Circa Leges Regias Hispaniae https://www.toptenz.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/books.jpg In the rare book collection at the Langdell Law Library at Harvard University, there sits a strange tome several centuries old. The book is entitled Practicarum Quaestionum Circa Leges Regias Hispaniae. The text is a treaty of Spanish law. On the last page, a faint inscription can be made out. It reads: “The bynding of this booke is all that remains of my deare friende Jonas Wright, who was flayed alive by the Wavuma on the Fourth Day of August, 1632. King btesa did give me the book, it being one of poore Jonas chiefe possessions, together with ample of his skin to bynd it. Requiescat in pace.” The Wavuma are believed to be an African people that possibly existed in modern day Zimbabwe. This is a notable example of anthropodermic bibliopegy, as it is proof that the practice was sometimes used for memorial and sentimental reasons instead of for sheer macabre titillation. 8. Leeds, England Ledger https://www.toptenz.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/leeds-ledger.jpg In 2006, a 300-year-old ledger was discovered in downtown Leeds, England. It was found in the wake of a bungled burglary attempt. Not much is known about this ledger. However, it is of some curiosity that this ledger was written in French and dated back to the 1700s. This suggests that it might have been made during the French Revolution, a time when anthropodermic bibliopegy gained popularity. If this was indeed made during the French Revolution, then this ledger can stand beside other documents such as The Rights of Man and the French Constitution of 1793 which are also believed to have copies bound in human flesh. 7. Virgil’s Georgics https://www.toptenz.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/virgil.jpg Jacques Delille was a famous French poet who also excelled at translations. One of his most famous works was a verse translation of Virgil’s Georgics. Upon Delille’s death, someone stole some of his skin while he was laying in state. The stolen skin was then used to bind his translation of Georgics. 6. Samuel Johnson’s Dictionary https://www.toptenz.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/samuel-johnson.jpg Samuel Johnson was one of the most important writers and lexicographers of the English language. A Dictionary of the English Language is widely considered to be one of his greatest works. First published in 1755, Samuel Johnson’s dictionary listed 40,000 words, making it the most extensive work of its kind up to that point in history. In 1818, a criminal named James Johnson was hung in Norwich. His skin was then used to bind a copy of Samuel Johnson’s dictionary. There is no known connection between the two men. 5. Red Barn Murder Judicial Proceedings https://www.toptenz.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/red-barn-260x400.jpg The Red Barn Murder was an infamous killing that took place in Polstead, Suffolk, England in 1827. The case started when a young woman named Maria Marten had local rogue William Corder’s child out of wedlock, an offense that could lead to persecution from parish officers. The two arranged to meet and elope at a local Red Barn. However, upon meeting, Corder shot Marten and fled. Marten’s remains were later discovered and identified when her stepmother started having dreams about her being murdered and buried in the Red Barn. The murder and subsequent trial and execution of William Corder became a national sensation, inspiring songs, plays, and ballads that have survived to this day. After Corder was executed, his body was dissected and examined by medical professionals. His skeleton would become a teaching aid in the West Suffolk Hospital. His skin was tanned by a surgeon named George Creed and used to bind the account of the infamous murder. The book was inscribed by Creed: “The Binding of this book is the skin of the Murderer William Corder taken from his body and tanned by myself in the year 1828. George Creed Surgeon to the Suffolk Hospital.” The account is now held at Moyse’s Hall Museum. - See more at: http://www.askranker.com/2014/07/top-10-books-wrapped-in-human-skin.html |
