Thats the point Many people look UK, Canada and US as the highest! You can be in Europe here and make your cool cash well! As in well!!, just the way you talk about Slovenia now since you are based there, is the way i am also talking about Poland.... As in, i too beleive Poland well, EU countries is always a hotspot for career growth. People who are quick to critique and find fault... ask them "how u take travel" most times its illegal... I am currently working for a multinational UK firm, and servicin ireland and UK clients full time, as a student (i will talk about this as the story progresses) Lemme shock you, most nigerians came here with the mind to apply for canadian visa from poland and move (cos is very easy here... very, little or no rejection sef) but many ended up loving poland, some later left and regreted started all over again with the high cost there... Poland is a soft landing for many people and the way to groom your wealth. I will leave you guys with this.. Whatever beats in Poland, Vibrates in other EU countries... []when you get job, its most likely affiliated to other EU countries and that has a big influence to your career I am not preaching everyone must go to POLAND, the harsh reality is that it is even hard now because of appointment date plus the number of ukranians poland are housing and feeding now from this Russia crises... So they are trying to control population influx, but the economy still gallant and they don give Ukrainians quit notice to return back this August. Lesson is- Move to any european country available and stop thinking, but move legally as a student! dont let one person deceive you there is nothing there, cos he went illegally and is trying to rub of on you.... Lets not derail the thread however! BritishNaija: |
Guys, readers and viewers of this thread. You can all see that travelling abroad is worth it. Only if you travel the right way-ia studies mostly.... School na scam oo... But na for only naija. |
October 4th, 2021- My most bitterly sweet experience at the Murtala Muhammed Airport! Story Continues The moment we landed Ikeja and took a taxi to Murtala Muhammed Airport, i could sense extortion i was closer to my greatest milestone. While we entered the Taxi, the driver cautioned us to print out every document i needed to before entering the Airport, his reason was that prices at the Airport were ridiculously expensive. Omo, on hearing this, we quickly alighted in some business center, while i was already panicking to get the covid result sent to my email hence it was mandatory. i refreshed my email and saw it was sent... Opps! I was really excited and printed 2 copies extra of it for 100 naira each (all coloured). For my mind, i am prepared and wont be spending extra money at the Airport. We drove inside the Airport and alighted at the entrance. Right from that moment a man came with some trolley and offered to take my bags in, i accepted and he took everything. Omo, it wasnt up to 5 mins walk, we got inside after they had ran scan through me and my luggage, i gave the guy 500, he declined and said his money is 2k and that was the fixed price... We then bargained for 1500 and that was it. Guys, at this point i had to make my mama sit down, while i was with my luggage surifing through everywhere to known whats up... She sat in the cafetaria and i held my luggage walking all around, observing what is happening. Look! for your information, you don't leave your bags carelessly when travelling- I'm sure you know it could be costly when someone sneak things in. After asking all question and seeing that we had to wait to queue to weigh our baggages in the next hour, i had to sit at the cafetaria with my mum and asked if she was hungry. Guys i was really hungry, I just completely forgot i was hungry- The previous night i couldn't even eat anything, me sef don loose weight. Travelling na stress sha! I decided it was time to get some food to eat and so i asked for the price for rice and chicken for myself and my mum... Omo! when i see price i weak. As in, i weak! But you know women are always women, my mum had wrapped some meat and brought drink for me all this while, she even gave me chin-chin, the one my sister prepared for me. Guys, mothers are indeed caring, i could remember yelling at my mum telling her to hurry when leaving Benin for lagos, i just didn't know she was preparing sef to have my back. Omo, i could only afford the 700 naira bottle water and chewed it with the meat and drink. We both ate together, i thought i was the only one, until i saw some other sharp guys bringing out their food from the cooler... Omo, naija no fit frustrate us, we nigerians will always improvice. While sitting i wasn't comfortable, we were told an announcement will be made for our boarding ticket, still, i wanted to observe to know what's up... Where my Bini guy sef? I thought, i had to call him to chevk on him and he said he was already on his way down the Airport. I quickly updated him to photocopy any document outside cos its expensive here. Guy man said, he was already close and he doesn't mind paying the price... Okay nah! He arrived, i was so happy i wasn't alone this time, he came with his uncle and aunt and they both sat with my mum, atleast to keep themselves busy while we went on full attacking mode knowing to get things sorted out. Just at the Airport, my guy received his covid testing result which showed negative and he went straight off to print... Guys, coloured was 2,500 and black and white was 2k... He had to print the coloured. Time for weighing luggage's came and mine was slightly over weighed i paid 20k extra and i was left with just 3k naira.. That was all the money i had in naira expect my hard currency i have already changed. Registration of items on the bag, they called it agro registration, we paid 2k, i was left with just 1k.. Finally, we were told to queue as they were to wrap and inspect our luggages, sharp sharp we hustled our way through to the line.... All my hands were busy with luggages, even my teeth was holding an envelop.... Guys, it wasn't easy. Right there, they collected 2k again. This was where my mum came in as she squeezed 10k on my hands for subsequent charges..... It was not easy. After we all waited and time for inspection startd, i jumped up with my guy and stood on a line with every check point, inspection officer. We got to a point, they asked our parents to go back.... It was a place of no return... See some parents being very dramatic, crying and praying out loud for their children... Chaa, i felt emotional. My mum sytarted crying in my presence, then i hugged her and said i will be fine, i should contact her when i arrive... Omo, she didn't end there oo, she broke protocol and still passed the stage they asked them to stop.. Na she even give the other parents mind. I had to tell her to leave and she left sobbing. Guys, it was emotional. At this point, i was thinking of giving her all my naira because i felt there will be no need after the check, but she was already gone. Even my guy sef was like, hold your money oo.. This people head no correct o, we fit still sort them for front. I was left with 8k... Omo, it got to my turn, the inspection officer checked my docs, admission letter, tution fee, guys i took all of them , even accommodation letter sef but he insisted i drop something for him, i was like what do you mean... He just ignored me and called on the next person, i had to quickly squeeze 1k in his hand after cursing that money. We passed that stage, we got to a stage where we had to walk on barefoot, place our shoes and bag on a machine that would check and scan through. My perfume was there and they demanded i sort them for it, i had to drop 1k there again. It was a lenghty scrutiny check until we arrived the final check point. It was a dark and long walk way.... you could hear your voice echo... At this point, some of the people inspecting were advicing us "come back naija oo, no place like home" It was the last check point..... Our naira would be useless from this point.... I looked to an elderly woman and gave her my last 3k.... she prayed and blessed me there and then i moved all through...Lo and Behold, it was as tho i was in heaven, the walk way became bright and the atmosphere was smelling nice, we walked our way through until we met turkish angels as air hostess welcoming us... These ladies were beautiful, wearing long socks, white and red attire and they lwere the prettiest ladies i have met on live since i was born as at then.... (before i later met some polish girls), their smile at you can make you forget all your sorrow at once... I had my seat number already and i reached to place my back luggage at the cabin. It was all fun... As they spoke in Turkish, there was a beautiful voice interpreting in English. You could see all the Air hostess walking around while we were all seated... These ladies are damn beautiful. We fasted our belts and reached to read the manual they gave us... We had viewing device at the back of the seat to watch any movie or entertainment... It was my first time of travelling guys, the naija guy who sat close to me said he has travelled couple of times before and adviced me to eat all their food and ask for more... .. Typical naija guy, you could see him asking for juice, wine and all that. It became cold and i felt sleepy, we were given socks and a cover while sleeping. It was a soothing smooth ride. My life changed from the time i left murtala muhammed. It was an experience like none. To be continued.... Next (Arrival on Transit to Turkey and Arrival to Warsaw, Poland) |
No wahala, we gather dey.. You fit PM me shomutuski: |
As if standsx most countries are better than naija.... I have little or no information about Romania I must tell you. I can't talk muck about it. But I have read their economy isnt vibrant enough, but damn they got pretty ladies there.... I also know people who study there and on hollidays go to united States to work. Patriottt: |
Purge your mind off racism.... I want you to keep this in mind, the harshest of racism is less than the tribalism and animalist behaviour I experiences back in 9ja even at my work place. I don't disturb myself over this.... Look, white people are nice, genuely nice. Even when they have reasons to doubt Nigerians because of our stigma, reputation, they still give you benefits of doubt. Oh well, my office job gotten was from a white lady referral. How is that racism? I mean it does exist but in the majority of things, when they get to know you and you integrate into the system, you will be celebrated. Nicoswit: |
Again, let me bring this to your notice.... You cant say Polish people are the slaves of europe... I will drop some analysis and let my readers draw their conclusion.. First, the question is... How did you travel? If your travel was based on studies- You have an unfair advantage over those in UK as it concerns JOB OPPORTUNITES... (not disputing the fact that UK schools rank far better than polish schools) I will explain. Mr. A travels to UK for his studies.... he's got a massive tuition fee to cover and other living expenses, he gets a student job, but according to the law, he is only allowed to work for 20 hours a week.... That money isn't enough to take care of his bills or even tuition fee, he gets a student loan and this goes on and on, till he graduates and hopefully finds a job to pay off the student loan.... Mr. B, Travels to Poland for his studies- He pays a semester tution fee as affordable as 500k or less, and has very little expenses to cater for as the cost of living in Poland is relatively cheap. More interestingly, according to Polish law for students, he is allowed to work full time with no hours restricted and as long as his studies are valid, that automatically equates his work permit! The jobs in questions are not just meanial jobs- Of course that could happen or mosly happens at the initial stage just as it is in UK... But he gets office jobs for multinational companies across europe and even in the US and gets paid as though he is a full time staff... At the ending, MR. A lives in UK with bills to cater for from his limited hourly job source and thrives on student loan.... While, Mr. B lives in Poland working full time (remotely) while having a self study/part time studies in his university and he earns and save even more. Need i remind you that majority of companies in UK are even situated here because poland has the least taxation system? This analysis goes only for students... If you are thinking of travelling without any plan, there is no guarantee.... Debo54: |
The clock starts tickling..... Story Continues Its always best to have sisters - Doesn't matter if younger or elderly. In my case, i had two younger sisters. While i was looking to get everything ready and buy some few items i was told would be needed there, my sisters were busy with the foodstuff department. They shopped and over stocked their shopping cart with food stuffs- Some, i regarded as non-necessary. But you know these women! My mum was the captain of them for foodstuffs. ![]() I could remember my friends telling me over, guy bring Aboniki Balm oo... Poland cold! Na winter you wan come jam here... I got a thick Jackets from a thrift cheap shop! For my mind, this should dispel the cold in Poland, not knowing na singlet compared to the weather there. I went printing all my vital docs, my covid 19 test was scheduled for a day before departure- It needed to be fresh they said. Some guys told me "Guy, e get where dem dey run am very cheap.. oluwole... no waste money do test oo" I had come a long way and i was not ready to throw all that away by doing fake test which will be verified from a scan, plus they were recognized and recommended hospitals we were made to do all the test. I sha spent about 35k for it... See bah! When you want to travel and people know it, expect price hikes anyhow... You have no choice and these people will take advantage of you. I had spent alot, i planned on buying a new laptop but was out of cash then, i had to make do with fixing my old laptop... I was all set! All bags were compiled and i had a Bini travel partner, we had our departure scheduled for 8:45 pm the next day. I rushed to get my covid test after paying previous day and they said the result would be sent to my email, the following day, which is my departure date... Omo i weak, which kind chances be this! what if they send it very late, i thought.... We were quite a number there and we all encouraged ourselves to beleive them. My mum called and asked to come with me to the Airport the next day, i didn't deny her the chance for that hence she may not see her boy again till years to come. My sisters wanted too, but i shoved them out and they understood. Booked a GIGM bus for myself and mama the next day and we were all set. Infact that night i couldn't sleep... I kept checking through all my bags to see if everything was in tact. Omo, the foodstuff i carried was so much like i wanted to feed poland. I was tempted to drop some because there is a maximum weigh of 50kg at the airport, I didn't have much money to spare... Even my Travel allowance sef was less than 100k.... Guys, lots of people promise to support me but it seems like disappointment don show.... I just locked up and beleived i will be fine. You could hear some people saying they took 2k euros, some said 1k euros, they were even complaining.... for me na just 100k, which i was to change at the black market sef..... later on, my mum shockingly supported me with another 100k and i added that to mine and changed all.. I travelled to Poland with less than 400 dollars guys.... Early in the morning at about 5a:m i was up, GIG was leaving 6am... I had moved with my mum to the pack.... I was off to lag. My othet travel partner delayed and said he couldn't meet with the first bus.... I sha tell am say, make we meet for lag.. Remember our flight was scheduled for 8;45pm that day.... Upon arrival to GIGM terminal at Ikeja, we boarded a taxify from GIG terminal to Murtala Muhammed... The extortion began from here.... |
Ovhioba, I got you. I understand your situation perfectly. If you refer to my earlier post, you may see the docs i submitted. Not much as change for a year now... Except financial docs as Payslip has been scrapped out for bank statement. and the visa appointment remains a tuzzle. But i kid not, find your way out of naija and you are sure to make it here legally as a student. I guarantee you that... Naija is not it at all.. hotplate: |
When a man knows he is to die tomorrow or soonest, he lives each day being carefree and take nothing to heart Story continues Guys, it became official, my countdown from naija had began, I stayed a week extra in ABJ with my friend and we had crazy fun! Oh. Kubwa and Maitama will never leave my head in a hurry. After my week of stay in Abuja, i had to board a flight to Benin- I didn't wanted to take chance with the messy roads and accident rates at that time. Trust me, lots of accident happened at Okene and Ore road at that period, plus it was very discomforting. I had thought to myself, I have my visa, so i should pamper myself to safety. Upon arrival to the great City of Benin, i boarded a taxify straight up to my home. It was then i knelt down and thanked God. I could recall the stress i went through in naija, how i lost my job, my relationship that was on the speck of going down, my old mama who should be retired from work and my old papa who is fast ageing. I couldn't stand them growing old in my eyes with little or no assistance to do for them. I had always wanted to travel, but my elder brother in the US for some selfish reasons always discouraged me "Richard, things are not the way you see it, stay back and supervise my projects" Apparently his plan for me was to be an eye to his businesses, i had more plans for myself. I visited my parents and broke the news to them, they were so happy. Sheard tears of joy and reached out to hug me. It was already a script of blessing dishing out from their mouth like i was travelling the next day. They genuiely knew how messed up naija was and were in support of my movement. Guys, I had plan i should leave naija in a month time (My school resumes in a month time) Although, it doesnt matter if i leave in 3 months time, but for some reason i was itching to leave sooner. I thought to myself, i dont want anything to ruin this chance- Maybe another lock down, maybe naija could go extinct, just maybe a war may break out. So i knew i needed to act fast and move... Now all i needed was money for flight reservations and some travelling allowance funds, I knew i had to intensify my hustle, I got back to my taxify, it was a hell of a task for me. Got lots of harsh encounters with customers, very rude- Mostly ladies. I kept calm and smiled because i knew it was just for a very short time. I was able to raise some money. I never wanted to discuss my Visa with my brother, hence he was never financially there for me and always disregarded my travel plans, but my mum broke the news to me. He reached out to me and confirmed, i could sense he was shocked and forcefully eased off congratulations from his mouth. Abike also my girlfriend, we had serious issues all this while. it was a patchy relationship. She never knew about my travel plans, never wanted to tell her. At the peak of when i was trying to decide if i could have a future with her thereafter, she cheated on me. Oh yes! She always told me i wasn't man enough for her bills, i never knew she has been seeing a yahoo guy all these while. I found out when i reached to meet with her after many disappointments, saw a leaked chat on WhatsApp when she left for the bathroom. I beleive it was God own way and making me know my priorities and cutting off the shafts... I never confronted her, we had our last pound of marathon sexx and that was it. It was two weeks to my departure- I had booked my flight after sure i am financially ready . I booked with Turkish on a student discount of less than 270k. Everything seems to be moving well. |
To be fair, i'm very skeptical about moving into Poland with your family. I doubt. While i know polish schools has good incentives in place for PHD students, i am not sure you can move in all out with your family for studies. Uk avails you that option tho Engrgeneral: |
Now this depends on the return policy of the school. One things should be established here- Most of the schools here in Poland has return policies, but there is a window to when you can apply for such. Once it exceeds that time. I'm sorry. omorttee4u: |
Like this, if you want me to Continue..... Let's go! |
Sure, application is done online on a portal or by checking your preferred school website Rrchrd: |
No WAHALA then bro.. You can PM me, I dey Kraków shomutuski: |
Studies remains the best and valid way here bro... It takes 5 years to get your PR... Good enough as a student, you have access to quality office jobs. Poland system also allows student to work as you are eligible without a work permit, your student status makes you eligible and you can work full time. Yeha full time. Unlike other countries where your studies is limited to 20 hours a week. Language is the greatest shortcoming in Poland, but seem to be the greatest advantage. captainking: |

Guys, it is said when you need a favour from the gods! You stay Holy! Some take to Thanksgiving and Tithing Some stay celebate while some does both... Story continues Finally, i was done with my interview session. It was a huge sigh of relief for me, but a new wave of pressure. It was as though i was served with a chilled water on a coated hot palette. I had no business thereafter in Abuja, hence my decision was in a month time. It was no need inconveniencing my friend. I booked a bus back home to Benin the following day , Sitting close to the window session, thinking things through. In my return to Benin, we had a ghastly motor accident, the vehicle was badly damaged. Few people sustained bruises, for me it was just a knock on my knee which later healed up. We got another bus and continued the journey afterwards. I prayed for my safety back home. It was a panic moment for me. Finally, i arrived home and had some rest. Becoming conscious of the calendar like a man calculating his wife period, i was envisaging my decision. Days turned, weeks and weeks turned a month and lo, it was my decision time. Prior that moment, i had heard many were denied. It was a tough scare for me, Imaginary thought flooded my mind on things i felt i didn't do well. On the day of my collection, i couldn't make do with travelling via the road again, also couldn't afford flight at that time. So on recommendation from a friend of mine, who had someone collect visa for people, he suggested someone. I never wanted someone to get my visa for me, so i declined and used my closed guy in Kubwa, Abuja where i stayed. Following up on him daily, like someone monitoring his bet on lives cores He kept telling me, the queue was long and they closed before it got to his turn. This happened for 4 days, while i kept sending transport fare for him over and yet, same response. Then i thought it wise to travel down myself. "Could i be denied and he's hoarding the info from me or he is not going there at all" These thoughts resonated in my mind. Finally i convinced myself to leave for Abuja, the following day. I arrived ABJ, the next day i was already waiting for them at the embassy. We had struggle to take numbers and i was number 10... It was a tug of war! While dishing out decision from 1-9 only two persons had visa.... I was hell scared. It was my turn... I went in, met with a polish man, he looked sternly to my eyes and asked me to sign... My hands shaked while signing.... He then told me, calm down and congratulations..... I got my VISA..... Coming out, lots of people at the entrance jumped at me and asked me "how you take run am" I was so happy that i had to rush to my guys place and safe guard my passport..... Daniel... "Oya nah, bring all the Abj babes... I ready" We flexed that night! My countdown from naija started. |
I beg to disagree. I can only disagree for Poland, not sure about East European countries.... I will take Poland Over the Uk.. Story continues after my break 1Sharon: |
Rightly said, its hard... Poland now are housing ukranians and we have over 3 million ukranians in Poland, so they are trying to ensure they dont get more immigrants. Its a control mechanism. Anyone who tells you to pay for appointment date, is likely a sc@m. blaquebelle: |
One thing is clear. I did all this process myself... It's no biggie, you can do it too! Story continues I dont know how people miss visa appointment date or come late. For me, it can never happen, not when i know how hard polish visa appointment comes by. Guys, i was giving two weeks for submission and interview. I don already enter Abj within a week, trust me, you dont want to hear stories that touch. While i Abj i stayed with a friend of mine at Kubwa, he was receptive and he knew my travelling plans these period. I had to check all my document, print excess copies and looked through to ensure all was well. This period i was celebate... My Abj Guy brought babes over, thick babes, but i wasn't the vulture i used to be.... Omo, i humble! I trusted God for this only thing in my life. My appointment date came and was postponed, obol! Panic increased. Rumor's where flying that the embassy were trying to limit people from leaving naija and thus it affected their visa issuance rate. As a matter of fact, rumours also had it that the embassy had received caution from FG to curtail Nigerians from leaving the country. On the deed day of my Interview, after postponment. I was an hour there before all masked up with my face mask... I shaved all my beards, looking responsible as i could be. The first guy was called upon, i was the second... This first guy entered, took some time and came out not smiling. Note, after interview.. Decisions are gotten in a month time. It was my turn to go in "Next pls" At the mention of that, i could briely recall all my ordeal i passed through to this stage. Nah, i am not gonna mess things up.. I was checked, an iron metal was runned through me with my hands up, and then i was asked to go in... It was like a diary session with Big brother... Dark non transparent glass, with a pen somewhere to write and a speaker to hear when the VO speaks.... "Why Poland" :"What were your activities in nigeria before travelling" "Who are your sponsors" "Why your course and your choice of school" I aced all these questions because i had prepared for them..... Then, she said that is all for now. I came out with everyone looking at me to ask how far? |
In quest for a push out of the jungle of suffering i found myself, I went full attacking mode on travelling threads. read alot of comment, reviews, critiques and sweet-talkers (who were apparently agents). My quest continued till i stumbled on a "Polish study thread" Polish schools seemed relatively very cheap tuition fee as compared to other countries- I had followed up passively, even joined a whatsapp group from the thread and slowly with my research and supporting YouTube videos watched from students there (Notable among these videos was a youtuber named Awubiwom) i decided to give Poland a chance. Now, listen guys.. This is a food for thought. When you have plans to travel. Keep mute about it. Never tell anyone. Because people by default are quick to pick on imaginary flaws and project it to you. I got responses from my close relatives like "Richard, why Poland nah?" "How you wan take cope when dem no dey speak English?" "My guy no hustle there" These responses can cripple your moves when listened to and acted on. I kept mute about my move, applied to a cheap university (University of Opole), got admitted and paid my tuition with less than 300k for a semester. I had started the process, there was no looking back. There was no looking back! After paying my fees, i got all confirmatory docs from school i needed for my visa clearance. Then my quest to get an appointment date at the embassy began- It was the toughest stage (but not as it is now)... I called the embassy number for two weeks with my friends assisting and boom!! I GOT AN INTERVIEW SESSION IN TWO WEEKS TIME!! I was this close to getting out of naija, i could feel Poland Air, the only thing stopping me was my Visa and i had hastily Booked my flight reservation (Dummy), traveling insurance, financial docs and my 80 euros tucked neatly inside my passport and all supporting document for submission at the embassy. At this time i had kept mute about my plans, everyone thought i had given up on Poland because i stopped talking about it hence i never wanted any discouraging word. I read about how people were denied with various numbers and how they had terrible interview sessions. I had all my document handy, i could defend why i was travelling to Poland. Ofcourse, i wasn't a push over.. But trust me! When you approach Polish Embassy in Abuja and face that none transparent glass and listen to the Big brodas voice of the VO... You sure may panic... Take this from me! |
Good Response "Ride on".. About this time last year i was somewhere in Benin with no hope, i had lost my Bank Job and took to my savings to get a car for Taxify... It was not an easy decision. I hustled my way all through with the mind of saving and leaving naija 2022 or 2023. However, my experience and near death(robbery on the job) experience made me had a rethink on leaving Naija sooner. In all honesty- I had no clear country in my head. My thoughts rigmarolled between UK, US, Canada or Australia.... Common, you know these are the commonly looked and researched countries in nairaland? I watered up my interest by checking threads on these countries but damn! It was all relatively expensive with no certainty of visa (except the Uk). I wanted to travel the legal way- Studies (I recommend same to you) but it seems like the legal way was hell too expensive. My research for a cheaper alternative continued... |
Dear Viewers and readers, Its been about 10 months since i left Naija for Poland. As a matter of fact, October should make it a year. First, i will tell you. During the course of my lengthy experience and story. I just want to make it clear here that i am not soliciting for anyone to travel to Poland or acting as an agent. To this regards, I will not condone personal messages or questions. Questions will surely be addressed here for all to learn and benefit from here only. Understood? I guess so! Don't be deceived, getting into Poland right now is really not as easy as it used to be... getting appointment dates is like the eyes of a camel popping through a needle. Is there a possibility? yeah! But doesn't come easy... and please don't let those agents deceive you... Now lets go, i will be sharing my Travel experience from Naija back then and how i arrived Polska. The much talk about Poland that seems different from what i read on nairaland. Are you ready? Hit the likes and share! To convince me i'm not writing to me alone. |
but he insisted i drop something for him, i was like what do you mean... He just ignored me and called on the next person, i had to quickly squeeze 1k in his hand after cursing that money.
