Health / Medicinal Facts You Never Knew About Feaces. by Knnawuba(m): 11:17am On Jan 18, 2013
shocked Feaces is a topic we should all know something about since we all pass feaces on a regular basis. Feaces, also referred to as poop as well as many other less appropriate names, is the medical term used to describe the motions and discharge of the rectum. Educating yourself about your feaces and your bowel movements can provide much insight into your overall health. Signs of infection, digestive problems and even early signs of cancer can be detected by paying attention to bowel movements.

The average human excretes 150 grams of feaces a day, which adds up to 5 tons of poop annually. The feaces is comprised of 75% water and the rest is an often stinky combination of fibrous materials, dead and live bacteria and mucus. We poop due to digestion, which takes 24 to 72 hours in the average human. Food passes from the esophagus to the stomach after we consume it. It then travels through the small intestine, the large intestine, and finally escapes out the anus.

Feaces can vary from person to person. Frequency, color and shape are all variable depending upon many factors. Regardless of frequency, a normal person has consistent bowel movements. One's personal frequency will stay the same but not necessarily be the same as another's frequency. As long as you are passing feaces at regular, consistent intervals, your frequency is considered normal. Color varies depending on food consumed. Leafy green vegetables will cause a green stool. If you are taking certain medicines, they may change your feaces to white or clay-colored. Pay close attention to jet-black feaces.

Although it may just be high iron consumption, it could also be a sign if bleeding in the upper gastrointestinal tract. Healthy feaces rich with nutrients will often be an S-shape and bulky whereas consistently pencil-thin feaces could be a sign of rectal cancer, which narrows the opening where feaces passes.

Feaces play a much bigger role in nature than we think. Apart from revealing the conditions of our internal organs and dietary affects, feaces are important as sources of nutrition for certain species. Dung Beetles for instance, feed on the feaces of other animals and do not need to eat or drink anything else. Some dung beetles are known to roll feaces into balls, for the convenience of transporting and storing for a later date. Being rich in nutrients, buried dung is beneficial to agricultural soil, aiding in plant growth.

There are so many interesting facts about feaces. For instance, one in six cell phones are contaminated with fecal matter so make sure you wash your hands. Also, the more time you spend on the toilet, the higher your risk for hemorrhoids. Eating 30 to 35 grams of fiber a day instead of the 15 grams that most people consume will help problems such as constipation and diarrhea. Be more observant of your feaces, it may help your health immensely.

kandiikane: It happens. There are actually many full blood pure Africans who have coloured eyes. Remembered this guy too who had green eyes and had a friend who had hazel eyes.

That baby had a 'condition' but he's all grown now, still with the blue eyes.

Bottom line is its either genetic mutation or caucasian heritage that can give such eye colour. . .

There is nothing more disturbing than loosing a young promising soul to death. I just can't come to terms that ALI PIUS CHINEDU is dead! This amiable choirmaster and final year student of philosophy department died in the most gruesomeway imaginable… through a fatal accident.
Though we were more of an acquaintance, I knew him back in our first year days when his younger brother "Anthony" in theater arts was my roommate, and we also interacted severally sincewe stayed on the same series in MBANEFO HALL last session. Pius the devoted fellow who no doubt has taken the choirof the NKRUMAH MASS CENTRE to a whole new level due to his attention to duty. Pius, who was down to earth and never failed to notice when I dropped or added weight. Infact, anybody who knewPius would attest that this26 year old was a fun loving, jovial and an everinteractive fellow. It hurts me so, and I feel saddened deep down inside as I try to reconcilethat this beloved brother of mine is no more… my condolences go out to theALI family who would obviously be going through a tough period presently. May his soul and the soul of the faithful departed rest in perfect peace… AMEN!

Education / Candid Rants: Why Do Nigerian Students Find It Hard To Spell??? by Knnawuba(m): 5:15pm On Dec 14, 2012
It's a a capital shame and slowly becoming a normalcy in most of our campuses in Nigerian universities. i have a sincere feeling that typing in short message formats and the unchecked use of pidgin including our local dialect are the major factors driving this ugly trend. I strongly believe that this menace may have little or nothing to do with our government, as it is a thing associated with the person involved. the only remedy i perceive for this is the strict enforcement of writing skills and spell check in our University curriculum. [CLICK HERE>> https://www.facebook.com/pages/D%C3%ABf%C3%AFn%C3%AFt%C3%ABly-K%C3%AFngsl%C3%ABy/405089899534304]
I know a few people would jump at the conclusion that English is not our mother tongue, but don't you think anything worth doing is worth doing well? Not exempting the use of English language. Education / Candid Rants: Co-Habitation In The University (Undergraduate "Nnanyi" Syndrome) by Knnawuba(m): 11:19pm On Dec 07, 2012
The first time this was mentioned amongst some university students, they reeled in laughter at that coinage because some had experienced and could attest to it.

In university campuses across Nigeria, it is a common phenomenon for male students to rent off-campus apartments just for comfort and a ‘bit of privacy’ as one of my classmates would say.

Living in those houses alone is now a thing of the past as some students wants to experiment marital life before leaving campus and getting married proper.

This led to the term ‘undergraduate nna anyi’ which represents a male student living in his rented apartment with his girlfriend. This ‘couple life’ as it is been referred to in some schools makes the male student assume the role of the husband and his girlfriend –the wife.

This relationship has every attribute of a real marriage except that it must be devoid of pregnancy and the consent of the parents of both parties. The ‘undergraduate nna anyi’ who relies on his parents for money, becomes the breadwinner as he provides money for food, sight-seeing during weekends and most often provides the female student with money for her upkeep.

The female student on the other hand cooks, cleans up the house and satisfies her man’s sexual appetite. In some of these relationships, the female student’s accommodation fee is used for household expenses or in some cases, the proud-but-hungry boyfriend asks the girlfriend to look good with it (i.e. buy clothes and beauty accessories).

This two are known by neighbors and people living around as they are seen going to and coming back from school together almost every day. For some, the only time they remember that they are actually students is when examinations come knocking as they spend a better part of the semester practicing family life. It is not uncommon to find most undergraduate nna anyi’s sleeping during lectures due to the vigils they keep at night.

These male students tell every form of lies to their parents in other to get money for themselves and the demanding relationship and the female student doesn’t have this knowledge. At times of lack, maybe when the money they expect is not forthcoming or when they must have exhausted their allowances before time, these male students are seen running from one friend to another trying to borrow money just to please their girlfriends because as we all know, women have affinity for cash.

The relationship as enjoyable as it seems from the outside, has dire consequences as some results in pregnancy which in turn leads to one or the two students dropping out of school or in more serious cases –death of either the boy or girl as a result of sexual marathons as had been witnessed in some University campuses.

Most often, the male student squanders their school fees in the process which kicks off their problems in school as some are seen spending 6,7 or more years for a 4 year academic program. My advice to those who are thinking of engaging in the so called couple life is this: ‘not all that glitters is gold’.

And for those who are already in it and think they are having fun, ‘the end justifies the means’.
