They should have gone with JavaScript or PHP. If you are not sound in mathematics and statistics but wanna venture into machine learning or data science, it would be severe pains for you.

I hope they thought them algorithms and how to solve problems in programming too. You don't just learn syntax of a programming language and disturb others that you are now a programmer.
