We are confused as to why taxpayers should fork out money for KFC when children don't have school books & people are homeless. Is this good? Will it help rehabilitate them? A Church minister felt the wrath of a mob of angry South African residents on Saturday‚ who assaulted him during a violent protest against what they claim is “Nigerians selling drugs and prostituting their (South African) children”.

Police fired stun grenades to disperse the angry crowd‚ who were walking around the area to “search and burn spaces that are known to be selling nyaope to school children”. At least two houses were burnt down.

The throng of community members‚ some drinking beer‚ entered Celestial Church of Christ in Atteridgeville planning to “search the church for drugs and any illegal activity”.

The church’s prophet‚ Samson Sangojinmi‚ was immediately called. When he arrived in his Mercedes Benz he was assaulted by the mob‚ leaving his white robe bloodied before his congregation managed to drag him inside.

“F**k you‚ you’re selling drugs‚ what’s in that bag you are carrying?” shouted one resident.

“You Nigerians must go open churches and salons in your own countries‚ no one can survive on such alone without selling drugs‚” said another.

By then about 20 police officers had arrived and fired a stun grenade to disperse the crowd.

Paramedics treated Sangojinmi. The minister said he was hurt that people thought he would sell drugs.

“We help many people in this church‚ when they want food or a place to stay we help them. It’s sad to see people attacking me even when I’m trying to talk to them‚” said Sangojinmi.

One woman‚ who refused to be named‚ said she had witnessed children in school uniform entering several of the houses they had searched.

“Some of the girls we found in the houses were high‚ wearing short outfits‚ who’ve ended up never leaving because they owed these Nigerians too much money.

“Enough is enough‚ we can’t trust the police anymore because they never do anything to help us‚” she said.

Police spokeswoman Captain Augustinah Selepe said the group of people who targeted foreign nationals‚ started demonstrating early on Saturday morning.

She said that by the time police responded to the scene‚ two houses had already been burnt down. “Police are keeping a strong presence and are on the ground monitoring the situation‚” she said.

Saturday’s violence follows similar protests recently in the southern Johannesburg suburb of Rosettenville.

Gifty has just been evicted from the on-going Big Brother Naija game. Gifty, who has had a pretty controversial time in the house with her string of kisses, multinational accent and comments about not knowing celebs, leaves the house empty handed.

She was nominated by the housemates for eviction alongside Marvis and Thin Tall Tony. Marvis secured the highest votes from viewers and was automatically safe. Gifty now joins other evicted housemates like Soma, Miyonse and Coco Ice.

While the host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu invited Gifty to the live eviction stage, and he asked her a question from one of the audience at home. The question was, "Gifty you were making hair for most of the housemates, are you a hairdresser in real life?"

Gifty kept beating about the bush, then she said "Well, i learnt things quickly. When i see people do things, i learn fast. I am a fast learner. I pick one or two things from them. I like watching people do it. So i will say i am a professional"

Recall that just some days ago, it was revealed with photos that Gifty before coming into the Big Brother Naija house, was a local hairdresser in Obosi, in Anambra state.

However, from her response above when Ebuka asked her, Gifty who is known for her "fake" attitude did not seem to be proud to call herself a hairdresser.

Epic Throwback Tonto Dikeh and her husband, Oladunni Churchill married in the year 2015 and welcomed a baby in February 2016. In March of 2016, they visited the popular Love Lock Bridge in Paris where they sealed their love with a padlock. The news was circulated all over the Nigerian media at the time, even here on Nairaland. Unfortunately, the marriage has packed up. It packed up like badly arranged poker cards this year amidst unclear circumstances.

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and his wife also visited the site for similar ritual, but we wish Ebuka and his wife the best of luck.

According to Wikipedia : "A love lock is a padlock which lovers lock to a bridge, gate, or a similar public fixture to symbolize their love. Typically the sweethearts' names or initials are inscribed on the padlock, and its key is thrown away to symbolize unbreakable love".

Over time, there have been debates over churches operating within the premises of "unholy"  places such as a bar, hotel or brothel. The argument in defense of the churches has always been that there is no better place to situate a church than "a place of sin"  like a bar or a brothel since Jesus Christ himself said  in Mark 2:17 that , "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."


While this is a reasonable defense enough, people still continue to find  it absurd that some churches are housed within the premises of a brothel and similar places. Infact, some churches actual share same room with a night club. For instance, there is a popular brothel/night club on Toyin Street in Ikeja which after operating on Saturday night, will be occupied by a congregation on Sunday morning.


Now, at Iyana School area of Ketu Lagos state, a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG)  branch has just been discovered by our correspondent, operating inside a beer parlour. The Prince of Peace Parish church of the  RCCG church operates inside the beer parlour called Roseway.

It's a little surprising that the Pastor Adeboye-owned church with his reputation could operate in such an environment not minding the stirs that could cause. However, with  the above explanation of Jesus Christ in Mark 2: 17, we just might be over-reacting...

Atheists in Kenya (AIK) society recently issued Bahati Boys’ High School Principal in Kenya a seven-day ultimatum to lift the exclusion letter to Ian Njenga Mwaura, a student who was expelled for drawing an artwork considered occultic or move to court. The society threatened to sue the school for interfering with the studies of Ian Mwaura Njenga who is a form four candidate. In a letter addressed to the school Principal and copied to the Teachers' Service Commission, Ministry of Education and Kenya National Commission on Human Rights, the society said reasons for expelling the boy from school are 'unreasonable, repulsive, objectionable and abhorrent'


In a letter, the Christian school noted that the teenager could be aligned to a cult. They also accused him (ian njenga) of initiating other students to join his alleged faith.
The high school went ahead to advice his parents to take him for counselling and transfer him to a day school where they can keep a keen eye on him.

When confronted by concerned people, the school's Principal maintained that the drawing made by Ian could not be condoned in the school.

"We have so many things within the school that Ian could have drawn inspiration from like cows or even portraits of other students. But drawing suggestive things like snakes and scorpions is not condoned in this school," he said

A young Nigerian guy, who goes by the name Adebiyi Muizz took to Facebook to celebrate his much older white wife as she turned a year older today. The woman, Susan Smith, is American and lives in Portland, Washington. She looks like she's in her 60s. She is retired, according to her Facebook bio. She married to Adebiyi in February, 2015.
