CrimeRe: Oyo Government Demolishes Building Used As Kidnappers’ Hideout (Photos) by kolafolabi(m): 2:06pm On Jun 08
That is a commendable step by the Oyo State Government. The government had earlier made it clear that any building found to be used as a kidnappers' hideout or criminal den would be demolished upon confirmation of such activities. This action sends a strong message that Oyo State will not provide safe havens for criminals and demonstrates the government's commitment to protecting lives and property. It is hoped that this measure, alongside effective law enforcement and community vigilance, will serve as a deterrent to kidnapping and other criminal activities.

Run for Senate now. After all, that was your first attempt under the SDP in 2015 before contesting for Governor in 2019.
PoliticsGov. Seyi Makinde Offers Oyo Workers N10,000 Salary Top-up Over Fuel Price Hike by kolafolabi(op): 4:40pm On Mar 23
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has announced that all workers in the state would be entitled to a N10,000 top-up on their salary for a period of three months.

Makinde disclosed this at a programme held in the state’s capital, Ibadan, on Monday.

According to the governor, the top-up is necessary to cushion the effects of the fuel price hike, and it will begin in April, with a possible extension if the situation has not subsided.

“I’m happy to announce that all workers in Oyo State and the local government starting from April, at least for the first three months, will be given N10,000 in addition to their monthly salary as petrol/transportation support. All workers, everybody. It is a flat rate. Maybe it would be extended.

“Those who are not working with the Oyo State government may also benefit from it. We will handle it properly to ensure it is all-inclusive. As I approach the end of my administration, one of the things I’m particularly focused on is ensuring continuity,” he said.

PoliticsRe: He Voluntarily Resigned Membership – Abia APGA Denies Sacking Abaribe by kolafolabi(m): 7:56am On Mar 16
He remains a significant political figure in Abia State, and his next political move will likely influence the balance of power in the state and beyond.
PoliticsRe: National Assembly ‘landlords’: 18 Lawmakers Who Have Spent The Longest Time. by kolafolabi(m): 8:46pm On Mar 09
The beauty of it is that the longer they stay in the National Assembly, the more experience they gain in lawmaking and governance. Over time, they become more familiar with legislative procedures, policy debates, and the workings of government. For example, in the United States, many lawmakers spend decades in Congress, and that experience often helps them perform their duties more effectively. However, the level of corruption in the country often makes it difficult for people to fully trust them anyway.
PoliticsRe: The APC Currently Governs All Northern States Except Bauchi by kolafolabi(m): 8:19pm On Mar 09
The APC still has a strong political advantage in the North going into 2027, but Nigerian elections are often unpredictable. Performance in governance between now and 2027 will likely determine whether President Tinubu secures an easy second term or faces a very competitive race.
SportsRe: Super Eagles Goalkeeper, Obasogie Suspended Over Alleged Match-fixing by kolafolabi(m): 6:44pm On Feb 27
For me, I believe that more than 50 percent of professional footballers engage in some form of gambling. With the rapid growth of sports betting worldwide, especially through online platforms, it has become a common activity among young adults, including athletes. Footballers are not isolated from society, and many of them are exposed to betting culture through advertisements, sponsorships, and peer influence.

PoliticsRe: Opposition Offers Noise, We Offer Results - APC Chairman, Yiltwada by kolafolabi(m): 7:22pm On Feb 26
Nigerians are more likely to make their decision based on tangible outcomes rather than campaign contrasts such as “noise versus nation-building.” In the end, the real battleground for 2027 will not be speeches, but economic realities and public sentiment.

PoliticsRe: Adamawa Speaker, 14 Lawmakers Dump PDP by kolafolabi(m): 3:34pm On Feb 25
My respect for the Jagaban, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is that his timing is excellent and his ability to read the political landscape is unmatched. He knows when to act, when to wait, and how to turn situations to his advantage. In politics, timing and perception often matter as much as strategy and resources, and Asiwaju consistently shows mastery in both.

Tupacx:
What you said is the ideal thing to do.

Atiku should just step down for Obi even if it is for cosmetic.

I think this is what will final happen. The North will make it look like... it is a southern affair and turn but they will not put body for Obi. Most of them will quite and some loudly work for Tinubu. They will just skip and wait for 4 yrs instead of Obi they are not sure of 8yrs
What you said makes a lot of sense. Atiku stepping down for Obi, even if just for optics, could help unify the opposition and create momentum. I think this might be how it ultimately plays out. The North will likely frame it as a southern affair, but many will hesitate to fully back Obi. Some may quietly support Tinubu, while others might simply wait for the next four years instead of committing to someone they are unsure can deliver eight.

That said, I support giving the ADC and Obi a fair chance. Politics should allow new platforms and voices to compete, and Obi deserves the opportunity to prove himself beyond the hype. Sometimes taking risks on fresh leadership is exactly what the system needs to shake up the status quo.

Lithiumite:
The north can never support another southerner against tinubu, they rather wait out his 2nd 4years and get the seat back without stress in 31 than hand the south a potential 12 years.... we keep telling obidients that obi is absolutely not in the equation.....atiku could have a upper hand but majority southerners and northern xtians too won't want another hausa fulani just after 4 years of buhari.......obi should rather be advised to wait it out till 39 byvthen he would have built enough bridges and be in poll position when the seat comes back south......but obidients will never listen, despite their impending political doom.
You are also right on this. Politics is a game where strategy, influence, alliances, and timing often determine who wins. It is not just about popularity or slogans; careful planning, negotiation, and the ability to read the political landscape make all the difference.
PoliticsRe: 2027: Makinde, Kwankwaso Hold Closed-door Meeting In Ibadan by kolafolabi(m): 3:27pm On Feb 25
Meetings like this are always tricky to read from the outside. On one hand, it could be a strategic success, especially if Makinde and Kwankwaso are laying the groundwork for alliances, endorsements, or coordinated campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections. Makinde’s influence in Oyo and the South West is significant, while Kwankwaso still carries weight in the North, so a collaboration could be powerful. This is just my opinion and not a definitive statement.

Remember, crime does not pay. Hard work, honesty, and patience are the true paths to success. Stay alert, Oyo people, my beloved state, and let this serve as a lesson to any youth tempted by quick gains. Kudos to the Nigerian Police for apprehending the robbers and keeping our streets safe.

PoliticsRe: Adamawa Speaker, 14 Lawmakers Dump PDP by kolafolabi(m): 2:50pm On Feb 25
The PDP G5 have successfully dealt a heavy blow to the party. Though it is not yet completely buried, thank God the G5 themselves are no longer on the best of terms. All thanks to the brilliant maneuvering from the President, the political genius at work. But seriously, if I were Waziri, I would consider stepping down for PO, at least for the sake of the new platform, the ADC, and to give the new party a stronger footing. Sometimes personal ambitions must give way to strategic moves for the greater political good. This is exactly the kind of moment where vision matters more than titles.

This situation is becoming more serious with each passing day.

May God protect us from evil and shield our nation from violence and bloodshed. May He give our leaders the wisdom to make the right decisions, strengthen our security agencies with courage and integrity, and bring comfort and healing to every victim and affected family. May peace return to troubled regions, may unity replace division, and may love triumph over hatred. May light continually overcome every form of darkness.

For me, heights can be something else entirely. Just standing at the top of a tall building or looking down from a high place can make your legs weak and your heart start racing. That sudden dizziness, the fear of missing your step, and the feeling like the ground is pulling you down is not a small thing. Even strong people fit freeze when them reach high places. Some people no fit look down from a balcony talk more of climbing mountains or entering glass elevators.
FamilyRe: "Treat Daddy As Your God” — UK Nigerian Mum, Kids Kneel In Emotional Video by kolafolabi(m): 12:03pm On Feb 25
It was a deeply emotional moment for me when I watched the clip on TikTok this morning. You could clearly see that life has not been easy for the man. He barely gets enough rest, yet he continues to give his all to his family without complaint.

His wife openly appreciated him, acknowledging his sacrifices and unwavering commitment. She explained that he hardly keeps friends because most of his time is devoted to his family. Every morning, he personally drives the children to school, and in the evening, he goes back to pick them up. Despite working long hours, sometimes up to 12 hours a day, he still makes time for his responsibilities at home.

Though the wife also works, she described her husband as a true blessing from God. She spoke with gratitude and admiration, recognizing his dedication, consistency, and the love he shows through his actions.

The most beautiful part of it all is that she allowed her children to know and understand their father’s sacrifices. She did not keep quiet about his efforts. She made sure the children see, appreciate, and value what their father does for the family. That kind of teaching builds respect, gratitude, and strong family bonds. It helps children grow up understanding responsibility, hard work, and love expressed through action.

Watching it reminded me that true love is not just in words but in daily sacrifice, responsibility, and quiet commitment. Men like him deserve appreciation, support, and prayers for strength, good health, long life, and continued grace to keep leading and providing for their families.

PoliticsRe: Countries That Changed Their Capital Cities (Photos) by kolafolabi(m): 8:55pm On Feb 24
To be candid, Abuja is the most suitable place to be the capital of Nigeria.

The main reason is its central location, which makes it easily accessible from all parts of the country. Abuja is geographically positioned at the heart of the nation, promoting a sense of neutrality and national unity among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic and regional groups.

PoliticsRe: 2027; Telcos Reject Objection To E-transmission Of Election Results By NASS by kolafolabi(m): 8:09pm On Feb 20
Nigeria is not lacking in intelligence, innovation, or technological capacity. From banking to telecommunications to digital payments, we have proven that real-time systems can work effectively when there is commitment and proper management. So the argument that the country lacks infrastructure for real-time electronic transmission of election results sounds less convincing to many citizens.

Everyone has the right to defend themselves and clarify their story. At the same time, responding emotionally online can sometimes escalate things further. Ultimately, peace of mind should come first. Public opinion changes quickly, but protecting one’s home, mental health, and dignity is what truly matters.

This is a cautious and strategic move. Pope Leo XIV declining Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace” suggests the Vatican wants to maintain neutrality and avoid being drawn into politically sensitive initiatives.
