Obi-El Rufai can still work but 2027 Presidential election is not just about winning at the polling units, it's beyond that, after people have voted for you to win, can you defend and protect their votes against an incumbent President's rigging mercenaries until the results are announced? That is where I have issue with Obi being the flag bearer of the coalition ticket.


Peter Obi that I know is a man of peace and obeys rule of law to the core, his Obidient Movement supporters are enlightened youths who just want positive change in Nigeria's leadership and most of us are fully engaged/employed, we don't have time for physical street fight and thug war, Igbos another Peter Obi's support base are too refined, enlightened and republican in nature to engage in street fight or confrontation to protect Peter Obi's electoral victory at the polling units, that was the same reason Obi got rigged out in 2023; nobody to fight and defend his victory, so the incumbent government via INEC then helped Tinubu to carry the day, and Supreme Court upheld the electoral robbery.


If Peter Obi fly the coalition ticket, the same thing will happen because Northerners that have the street OT to defend their preferred candidate's votes won't put body since Peter Obi isn't from the North, the will be neutral expecting Igbos to lead the revolt should Tinubu attempt to rig the results.


But if Atiku flies the coalition ticket with Obi as running mate, it is game over for Bola Tinubu and APC and everybody including Tinubu knows this and that is what they will work so hard to ensure it doesn't happen by using different media publications and newspaper headlines like this to confuse Peter Obi not to deputize Atiku, Obi and Obidient Movement must not allow Tinubu and his political mercenaries to succeed. Swallow your pride, work with Atiku and let's unseat Tinubu first. I trust Atiku more than any other Nigerian politician after Peter Obi, Atiku won't be as horrible as the incumbent President now.

Omo Obi 2027 bid is almost gone my humble conclusion is for obi to lobby for the ADC vice presidential ticket and run with atiku as simple as ABC. Make he no listen to any motivational speaker. To be number 2 man for Nigeria no be teeth. Even goodluck step down from his role as Governor as bayelsa to accept vp ticket so obi half bread is better than non.

Similarly, Olusegun Obasanjo did not attend President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s funeral, yet this did not spark widespread condemnation.

In contrast, Peter Obi was in Ilorin attending the 2nd Annual Colloquium in honor of Professor Abdulmumin Yinka Ajia, where he made a public call for national inclusion and regional equity—a topic central to his political vision. This was not a leisurely outing or a celebration, but a thoughtful engagement on national development and political reform. Choosing to attend a policy forum over a symbolic funeral is not a sign of insensitivity, but a reflection of his values: action over performance, and dialogue over optics.

Moreover, it must be said that Buhari’s legacy remains deeply polarizing. While some revere him, many Nigerians—especially the youth—remember his tenure for widespread insecurity, rising poverty, suppression of dissent, economic hardship, and ethnic divisions. For Peter Obi, a politician who has built his reputation on reform, transparency, and progressive ideals, attending Buhari’s funeral could have sent confusing signals to his supporters and the public. Leaders must be cautious about the company they keep, even in death, as appearances can contradict their core messages.

It is also important to note that Peter Obi has never shown contempt or disregard for the North. His selection of a respected Northerner, Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed, as his running mate, along with his consistent outreach and engagement with Northern communities, prove that his commitment to unity goes beyond gestures—it is built into his politics. He has visited the North repeatedly, engaged in constructive dialogue, and maintained respect for its people and culture. His absence from a funeral should not erase years of bridge-building.

Furthermore, the comparison of Buhari to Ahmadu Bello, as suggested by Reno Omokri, is flawed. Ahmadu Bello is remembered for developmental leadership, inclusion, and vision. Buhari’s legacy, however, is mired in allegations of nepotism, mismanagement, and human rights abuses. It is disingenuous to expect leaders to honor both with the same reverence.

The North, and indeed Nigerians at large, are politically mature and can distinguish between tokenism and principled leadership. It would be unwise to assume that a funeral appearance determines loyalty to a region. The North remembers actions, not just optics—and Peter Obi’s actions consistently reflect his vision of a united, just, and progressive Nigeria.

In sum, Obi’s decision not to attend Buhari’s funeral was a conscious, strategic, and principled choice, not a sign of indifference. His commitment to national unity, inclusion, and responsible leadership remains evident in his public conduct. Leadership must be measured by consistency of values—not just presence at ceremonies.

Lastly I say this.

A True Leader Will Walk The Right Path Even If He Walks Alone. Obi has made A bold statement.

Which yeye boldness is that ? The price of staples have begun an upward trajectory once again whilst the major feedback from Farmers remain input cost & transport cost directly affected by the PMS subsidy removal.

Government in the last twenty four (24) months has lost over $20B through closure of SMEs and exit of multinationals and saved $10B from the PMS subsidy removal.

Infact, NNPC according to Gov. Hope Uzodinma was not remitting any to FAAC for nine (9) months making it difficult to track subsidy claims expense whilst the FIRS held forth.

PMS subsidy removal should have given birth to a PTF or SURE-P establishment where priority programmes would be targeted for the shocks Nigerians currently experience.

The Governors who are the major beneficiary are not as accountable and transparent with distributable revenues with over-invoiced contract and fraudulent palliative programmes.
