a land of milk and honey
Art and craft, cowries as money
gods and kings, elephant tusk held with attitude
goddess and queens in beads glorified in lofty magnitude

Until came afar to our sultry shore strange color of men and sorts
Then our brothers became pillars of salts
Chains adorned their neck and feet
In grief we sailed or their bullet thy beat
Our blood stains turn wall bricks in a white man's home
Ploughing and tilling the field that a white man own

They parted our loved ones and families
Summer and winter we worked in 100 degrees
Crown'd us as negros and figures we never campaigned
Hundreds of whip to the bare flesh in fears we died
300 years of woes, pain and suffering
300 years our ancestors survived the tears and tribulations

Our first parent they sold and slayed
One unhappy race, from curses be plagued

Is not as if architects are dominating they just have a better and more organized parent proffessional body the NIA who fight to make sure they
Are accorded their right in d scheme of things in the Nigerian construction industry.but in d building line how many of our alumnis are top place government functionaries,politicians ,lobbyist etc who could press forward our constitution and act establishing NIOB and make fed govt to sign into law laws that will make u proud of been a registered builder?we will get there one day with NIOB and CORBON.do u even no that no construction should go one without a resident builder in advanced countries but in Nigeria here most people u see on site or into property development are actually lawyers,computer graduates? Just imagine if a law is in place that all construction should hv a resident builder on it.d level of work that will be available for me and you will be unprecedented.so let's start to enlighten people what is right from what's wrong most people don't even know there is a course called building but they know architects......starts with me and you.there is more prospect in building only if and only if Nigeria is a sane country.my thoughts.

yeah I get your point.... the parent body even accept non builders, I checked for criteria for registration into niob... Nd it brought out" any1 who has done a course in building tech or non professionals who took niob professional exam and passed..... just imagine... but for nia.... 6yrs architectural study only is required... little wonder u see architect having a design +build consultancy.... the parent body need to do smtin about this..... I can't imagine myslf working under an architect.... or beg them for work.... its a no no.

Ceasare I am a building tech stu... Hnd1 during my I.t days, I worked with 2 architectural firm, aerial consult Nd toa fitouts.both are design Nd build.. architect seems to be dominating in d building industry... the alone have d right to be consultant Nd contractors..to be an Archi u need 6 yrs of training but a builder just pass their professional exam... which would u advice an aspirant to dive into... seeing you are experienced.... architectural tech or building tech?

there was this guy in my former lodge, he was cohabiting, but that wasn't the problem... the problem are 1: the girl's brother got admsn Nd still lived in the same room with them, with time got his own room Nd moved.. the girl continued cohabiting
2: the boy spent all his yahoo money on the girl

3: the girl saved hers Nd fed her broda from the guy's pot
4: the boy got an extra year Nd the girl grad 2,1
5: the girl's broda is currently doing fine education wise
6: the girl has no plan of getting married to the boy

7: me dey laff if I see dem...

Hi Kruzilano. This poem striked my heart in a pleasant way. Your concluding line was read over probably a hundred times. The truth is plain; only love - enough of it can make young whatever is deemed old.

This would have ended in the previous paragraph if not for your opening sentence by which you indicated that the poem is to be of three limericks. I think your idea of limerick is slightly different from mine. A limerick is a five line per stanza poem with a rhyme scheme of aabbc and it is usually humorous in nature. It's very uncommon to see limericks express strong emotions like you're trying to do in your poem. That's what knew.

Is this a variant style of the limerick just like we have for the two sonnets?

wow first I must say i am honored to have u leave a comment on my thread... thanks alot... regarding the title.. it was suppose to be of 5 line 2 stanzas buh I decided not to and see how d outcome... I intentionally omitted one line, broke it down to 3 line per stanza.. apologies to poetry tho...

Daybreak on a fertile land

Traditional music sets, please roll the drums
Pour more wine, bring more yam
We had spent most of our time in farms

Ada nneyi thrills the crowd, ijele follows suits
Men grab palm leaves , boys scampers with joy
The chief priest is honored, his his white yam soaked in oil

Bountiful harvest indeed, indeed my barn is bound to full
Another planting season so close
Her harvest is pregnant, sleep with hoes
