Yours is an Hybrid Vehicle. The main issue here is the Camshaft grinding due to slow oil supply to thetop cylinder. An important advice is to first ensure you're handing your car over to a Mechanic that understands that your vehicle is an Hybrid. Once you are with a professional, step back and let him do the job.
Dictating what to do to a technician even if not a Service Professional don't usually pay off and becomes more costly.
flootintin: Please advice, I had the drive light blinking and VSA light on when I hard accelerated from 1 to 2 over the weekend. The transmission stopped shifting and when I scanned, the code was P0756. I cleared the code and transmission worked again. I noticed that the code comes up when I drive on bad untarred road. The code is shift solenoid B stuck off. What do I do?
This looks like a mix of electrical issues and failing Solenoid. Have this checked by your Auto Electrician.
Topmaike007: Hello my fellow nairalanders good day. Please I got this lexus es330 for more than 6 months now and I noticed the rate it drinks fuel is beyond comprehension. The engine sounds so cool and does not smoke. But the check engine light have been on since I got it from my younger brother, and I have taken it to rewire and I was told there is nothing wrong with my car. But the car is on 17 tyre size. Please make una help me before this car send me back to the village.
It's important you first recall that Fuel prices have increased and thus consumption comparison is best done wrt liters of fuel bought and not the amount.
A few components to be checked during Diagnostics are: 1. O2 sensors 2. Exhaust leak 3. Misfire 4. Blocked inlet 5. Blocked exhaust
Succhris: My Lexus takes a little bit of delay when I try to accelerate. Like a seconds delay before it accelerates after stepping on the pedal. What should I do? N.B I've not changed the gear oil before
This delay you mentioned can be an indicator of an issue within the transmission. It can also be an issue in the Engine. Further inspections required to confirm and recommend.
TUBLEZ: i hv ring the car and the engine sounds very cool now , but the car loose power sometimes while driving especially on hills and it will eventually goes off, after like 2 minutes it will starts again.. I run a scan and the only complain is showing is VVT Malfunction.
That can either be a damaged vvt solenoid, vvt pressure sensor or wrong timing.
Profesoh: Guys, please I need your advice. The transmission of my Rx350 2013 is slipping. It stalled at the second gear. I took it for a scan and it threw up fault code P0715 (input Turbine/speed control sensor A). A gear master has changed this sensor and the car now selects all 6 gears. But I discovered that it still slips between gear 1 and 2. It easily selects other gears. The gear master is advising me to change the TCM that it might be the culprit. We have scanned and rescanned and there's no more fault codes from the gear. I read on Google that we need to reset the TCM, yet, the gear master says he has calibrated the car. I'm a little at lost on what to do next. Kindly advise.
The Transmission control is integrated into the ECU( brain box) except if what He meant is the valve body. This sounds more like an internal Transmission problem.
Virgo01: Please my Hyundai Elantra 2017 just goes off in motion without any warning but comes immediately back on like nothing happened when I restart it. The car doesn't overheat. And it drives normally after going off. The first time it happened, I was in traffic for a very long time and I felt that was it. But it has happened two more times in the space of 1 week. What could be the issue and how can I solve it?
All I can think of for now is the idle speed went below minimum. A poor performance assessment would be a good start.
My car Honda accord 2012 is shorting oil badly and no leakages anywhere, then i notice when I start it in the morning it brings out whitish/blue smoke 💨 for like 2 minutes then disappears. If I change oil now in less than 1 week it’s already very low
Likely culprits:
1. Worn Valve Stem in Top Cylinder 2. Worn Piston rings in Bottom Cylinder 3. Faulty PCV system
AmazingG007: Good afternoon everyone…please my car Camry 2013 just show ABS light, Traction Control light and parking Brake light all together on the dashboard….please what could cause this and what should be the solution and who will be the technician to repair it…mechanic or Rewire
When a Toyota displays Brake and TSC lights, it might actually be a warning sign of an emissions issue from the engine. It could as well be an indication of fault in the brake system.
Way out: 1. Confirm there are no drivability or obvious emissions issues. 2. Have it scanned so you at least have an idea of what's going on. 3. Rectify the issue.
cosd: I use a 2014 Honda crosstour The check engine light popped up I scanned and got a P0420 and P0430 error code I bought and installed all those O2 sensor adaptors on the upstream O2 sensor for bank 1 and 2. The error code is still there pls I need help here
You might want to confirm 1. The cats are good 2. There's no leak in the exhaust line 3. Properly monitor the STFT and LTFT readings.
Iamdiamond01: Good day fellow Nairalanders, Please I need help,I just bought this Chevrolet Aveo 2010 Nigerian use though the car is very sound and I have done the necessary servicing of the vehicle but I notice the car consume too much fuel for a 4plug.Imagine a 20k fuel from sandfill Oniru to Ikotun and I’m already on empty tank and also it displays a hold sign on the dashboard which I have tried to turn off beside the gear but it doesn’t go off.
A scan report with Data stream analysis would be needed to give you better insights on what to do.
However, it's important you note that the amount of fuel in liters is a better measure rather than price with current price fluctuations.
Here are a few things that make a car generally consume fuel: 1. Use of AC 2. Length of time spent in traffic with Engine running 3. Length of the journey 4. Engine health. 5. Tyres and Suspension health
We most times worry about number 4 while paying less attention to the others.
haykay2005: Hi everyone, I’m looking for some technical insight on a persistent fuel consumption issue (currently getting only 10 MPG) on my 2006 Honda Civic. I have already restored the cooling fan to factory settings and installed a new thermostat, but P0128(thermostat below regulating temperature) keeps returning and the car vibrates. I have confirmed that the vibration is not coming from my mounts.
I performed a cold-start test today with my scanner to watch the Short Term Fuel Trim (STFT) vs. Coolant Temp (ECT). Here is the data:
At 34°C (Startup): Upper radiator hose was at ambient temp. STFT was extremely rich, fluctuating between -12% and -22%.
At 60°C: The upper radiator hose became very hot and untouchable.
At 96°C: Cooling fans triggered normally. STFT finally stabilized between -3% and -5%. LTFT immediately improved from -20% to -17%. Engine load also revolves around 36% at iidle
My Analysis: Since the upper hose is getting hot at only 60°C, I suspect the new thermostat is opening much too early or stuck open (it should stay closed until ~78°C I guess). This seems to be keeping the car in "cold-start" enrichment mode for too long, causing the massive negative fuel trims and poor MPG.
I previously had other codes pointing to the EGR valve and ECT sensor which I sorted by replacing the part's and codes disappeared
My Questions :
Given that the trims improve once the car finally hits 96°C, am I right to assume the thermostat is the "smoking gun"?
My local "rewire" says I can only find "Tokunbo" (used) parts thermostat , but I’m worried about reliability. Has anyone had success with specific aftermarket brands for the R18 engine, or is OEM the only way to clear P0128?
Could this "rich" condition be the cause of a heavy vibration that worsens when the AC is turned on?
Thanks for the help! abeg, I dey average like 2 miles per liter of FUEL. I don tire
Except you want to order an after Market thermostat, your option for now is to try a few more "Belgium" thermostats.
dalitigator: Is Nissan Altima 2014/15 model a good car for Uber? I want to buy one that has been certified fairly good for Uber. For extra pocket money until I am able to upgrade it. Car 45 certified the car fairly okay.
But has any one here used it for Uber before? What are the cons and pros?
It's been a while I interacted with 10 year old Nissans. I suggest you: 1. Check up reviews online 2. Confirm the parts are easy to get 3. Have a good technician
rapheal5: Good morning I recently replaced the battery civic 010 vehicle with 62ah. I connected the negative terminal first, followed by the positive terminal, and while connecting the positive, the horn started to sound continuously, prompting me to disconnect that terminal. I reconnected the horn still sounding, I unlock the car with remote, lock it back still sounding, I kept doing unlocking and locking both with key till it stopped. Since then the horn sound sometimes while driving without pressing it, it also sound continuously when I park the car at noon and midnight. Pls what could be the solution.
I advice you follow up the the key cycle procedure to reset the triggered antitheft alarm.
Good2go1: Have you been able to resolve this ? I am having the same issue with my corolla 2005. Mine is if I allow it to warm like 5 minuates, it will move wothout delay. I have been battling this issue for over 5 months now
It would be good to note the following: 1. Does the speedometer work? 2. Has the Gear oil been changed during the cause of the problem?
Hi there, Depending on where you are in Abuja, you can check into the nearest filling station lube bay for help. I operate between Mabushi(Amaden Plaza by Ministry of works) and Gudu(AJB Mall, Opposite Zenith Bank) /2348181721155
Mcdreamy15: Good day car gurus, Firstly, there is this thing my toyota camry 2008 2AZ just started doing every morning on cold start. It won’t start on the first crank but it will always start on the second crank. After that cold start, it will keep starting well throughout the day. Secondly, there is thing other thing it does once a while. I might park for a few minutes to go do something and when i get back and crank the rngine, it will start and go off immediately. If i keep cranking it after that, it won’t come on. Unless i give it a few minutes to rest then i crank it again. I barely does this maybe one in two weeks or once a month. I’ve had my vehicle scanned and the only code there is the p0420 code for catalyst below threshold bank 1. I’ve had that code since I started using the vehicle so I don’t think it’s responsible for the issue I’m having
I suggest you first add fuel treatment. If it works then the issues is most likely due to problem from the fuel supply line e.g clogged fuel filter.
