Hello good people...i just wanted to find out if my sister can change her contact person and address of the person she stays with in the US for her drop box renewal or has she got to use the same address she used previously for her first visa which has now expired.will there be a problem if she changes her contact person for the renewal? |
Hi everyone, i have been following this thread for months and its been very insightful and helpful..ill like to share my experience. I have been refused a us visa four times before my this..i was refused 15 years ago twice when i applied for a student visa in lagos which was in 2003. I moved to germany in 2014 through my wife who is a german citizen and we have 2 young sons.i have my residency here in germany. So after i decided to try for a us visa in 2016 stating i was travelling with my wife and children and i was again refused for the 3rd time. I didnt give up and decided to try again this year in march cos my wife wanted us to visit newyork with the kids.my wife and kids have german passports but i only have residence permit. Even though i earned about 3000 euros a month and have a fairly decent job i was refused for the 4th time cos the vo asked for my proof of income and bank statement and when i gave him he said my balance was low and rejected me for the 4th time. Stubborn as i was i decided to try again last week and saved up some money and my bank balance was healthy so i tried for the 5th time and the interview went thus: Vo: good morning, place your fingers on the scanner Me:good morning and i did Vo:why all these refusals?u were here recently? Me:yes i have been refused 4 times before now and the first 2 refusals were 15 years ago when i was living in lagos and never been abroad in my life and twice since i moved to germany and most recent refusal was in march this year Vo:ok let me look at the notes from your interview in march..right all i want to see is your bank statement and payslips. Me:ok i gave him Vo: he looked at the bank statement thoroughly and picked a random payslip and said show me where this money is in your bank statement and i directed it to him. VO:where are u visiting and how long? Me:i told him im visiting newyork for 10 days with my wife and kids VO:looking at me he said this is one of those 50 50 decisions for me and he continued to say that for about 50 seconds looking at me.he then kept quiet for a while and started typing and looked up and said how am i sure u are going to come back Me:i love my job and it provides me a decent living and i cant abandon it.my wife and children live here in germany with me and i have visited many countries in europe and never overstayed. VO:looked at me in awkward silence for a while and said ok im approving this visa today.pls dont let me down.if u go and return u will get a US visa for life and if u dont u will never get a US visa.take care of your lovely kids Me:i was so emotional and thanked him for giving me the benefit of doubt.this was my fifth attempt. Anything is possible if u believe and have genuine intentions. This is a fantastic forum and it helped me a lot reading these pages even at work like a bible. I wanted to ask if i could travel alone cos my wife 2 days ago received a letter in the post for her dream job interview and unfortunately it falls in the period we are originally scheduled to travel as a family and this is the only time i will be free to travel cos of my work.im only staying in newyork for 10 days..will it be a problem to travel alone even though i said in my ds 160 im travelling with my wife and children?pls guide me |
@ekpotek....i know..it wasn't easy coughing up that money but I just thought I might as well take the risk and that if I get it i wont have to worry about rising cost of visa fees for the next 10 years and its paid off now..atimes in life u just have to do the needful and take risks regardless of how inconvenient it might be..eyes always on the prize. |
Hello everyone.i have been following this thread for a long time tho I never posted.i will like to give back to this wonderful forum cos reading through the pages helped me.So I recently applied for a standard visitor visa and it was granted.i have been travelling to the UK in the last 18 years.i started out with a 6 months visa, then got a 2 years visitor visa twice and went on to 5 years visa.my 5 years visa recently expired so i decided to apply for a 10 year visa which was very expensive but I thought it's worth it if u can afford it and u get it. Here is my timeline: Submitted at tls ikeja Feb 7, Transferred to ukvi Feb 8, Decision made email Feb 16 Collection email Feb 16. One thing I learnt from my experience is that it is important to keep your application simple and honest.it is also important to have a very good travel history and don't abuse your visa.i have never stayed more than 3 weeks on holiday all thru my 5 years visa.3 weeks was the highest i ever stayed..there were many times I stayed 10 days and sometimes 3 days. When I submitted I didn't have any payslips cos my company didn't give payslips so what I did was I had to get a letter from my office to introduce me and to state how long my annual leave will be for and also to state my salary.by the way my salary was about 105k naira not a lot really and it was never regurlaly paid.i submitted my personal bank statement with a balance of about 750k and also my salary account with zero balance just showing my salary deposits even though they were not regularly paid. I didn't have any property so i didn't submit any evidence of one.i submitted letter of invitation, sponsors British passport biodata page and a proof of address from sponsor in form of an electric bill. Those were all I submitted.infact when i remember when I went to submit at tls ikeja I felt intimidated cos there were people with loads of documents and i didnt have much to submit but alas,my 10 years standard visitor visa was granted.pls keep it simple,be honest and don't abuse the terms of your visa and try to make short trips..thanks justwise and ektokpe and all the contributors thanks for your selfless service. |
