genieluv: And you see, that's why we do not have a Kibera in Nigeria except for Makoko on the waters. If Kibera were to be in Lagos, wealthier people would have bought lands there, demolished the illegal structures and build better houses, before you know it within a short time, the place looks better.
Call a spade a spade, you're contradicting yourself by saying "we do not have a Kibera in Nigeria except for Makoko on the waters" Makoko is much worse than kibera
How would they buy something that is not on sale? Allot of Kenyans are willing and able to buy and develop those lands
Danielnino00: Nigeria cities are developing at a faster rate than Kenyan cities. Apart from Nairobi and Mombasa, which other cities can the Kenyans boast of??
1st pic: Abuja in 1991
The rest is history...
One picture there doesn't look like Abuja, but anyway, Kisumu is a city in Kenya
obaaderemi: Thank you for posting this. This is exactly what we have been telling you people here. Northern Nigeria is the main reason you can even be mentioning Nigeria and Kenya in the same discussion. It has a large population and is largely backward and illiterate. It drags down Nigeria's developmental stats. Meanwhile, none of the Nigerians on this thread is from core northern Nigeria. They are from southern and central Nigeria and are appalled that with all the backwardness and poverty in northern Nigeria, we are still richer than Kenya and we beat you in consumption index per capita such as cement consumption per capita and vehicles per 1000 people. That's a shame. You would expect a small "well run" country without a history of coups and civil war or apartheid to beat a "chaotic" African behemoth like Nigeria with 180m people easily. But look at your pitiable country. You are not much better than Senegal. If you understand the implications of this, you would burst into hot tears.
That's the facts,
But don't console your self by trying to make us feel as northern Nigeria is in a different country or the old stories of coup,
It's only from the last decade that your country has swindled in almost all the positive spheres
On cars ownership per capita, what u just stated is blatant lies, Ken 1000/30. NIG 1000/20...
But what matters most is How many of you lives below poverty line by %ge What percentage of you can read and write? How about reliable electricity supply? Which %ge of child mortality do you have per 1000 How about security, how safe are you(remember this is about the entire country, no North or South) What about your gen healthcare services? How competent is your economy? How diversified is it? How innovative are you? Where do you rank in Africa? How about the ease of doing business?
Kenya beats you in all of the latter.
Your population should be your advantage, it's a liability bcz it's not educated, unempowered...and the list is endless
It's been proven here that most of your economic sectors can only produce twice as that of Kenya, and your population is ×4, that shows one Kenyan is twice as economically productive than a Nigerian
gallivant: There is no such thing as slummish. A slum is a slum, low self esteem is low self esteem. Post your pic lady, let's see your northern Nigerian features.
jaycent: So this is what you kenyans wants to compare with Abuja chaiii, Abuja don suffer showing only one straight road. And the roads are even dirty please please please you guys should not kill me with laugh Ibadan is even ok for this "crap" you call city
genieluv: Nice pictures. ***** But I think I prefer Nigerian housing system where people of different income levels live together. Not one where people of the same income levels are crowded together in these kind of mass housing schemes.
As for me, I think it's better the Kenyan way, bcz it'll be easier to manage or upgrade the estates ...
Something you shld also know is that majority, almost all slums in Kenya are not owned by those who built those structures there...it started as temporary structures...
Ibrahimanees: That someone that said 17 (10?) pct of Kenyans live below the poverty line? Well you lied are mistaken. This popped up on my subscriptions about 2 hours ago.
sufferNsmiling: Listen do not believe all of this gdp rubbish. Nigeria does not have a economy and to make matters worse when the government wants to calculate the gdp it calculate nigerian infrastructure outside the country does that make sense.
Ofcoz I know that's a cooked figure...A average Nigeria's life can only be compared to Burundians and South Sudanese, poverty, insecurity, hopelessness, illiteracy, IDP/refugees...
NigeriaIsDoomed: Your hateful neighbours will commit suicide over these pix. Their Nairobi is 95% slum. Bro you are killing your neighbours.
#Nigeria is doomed! We have such buildings in our estates like Pangani, then that makes Dar CBD a complete slum, you hear me you guy from the world's capital of poverty
Daejoyoung: A 1% growth for Nigeria is equivalent to a 7% growth in Kenyan GDP, so this is very little growth that adds little value. The truth is... Africa is not growing or making real progress. Kenya and many African countries should be growing at 10% minimum. lt is always easier to grow a lower GDP, and this creates the illusion that Africa is growing as she should.
It's the %age that I'm talking about, $400b GDP as Nigerians claim, that should be around 405b or something around that, but it shoots to over $450, that's a growth of 11%
I'm not saying Africa is doing perfectly well, but East Africa is doing better esp Kenya, GDP growing at much faster rate than the population is what makes the difference
rvp20182: our economy is growing at 6% and if you factor our kshs strength against USD..that like 10%.As we speak we are at 90B.And this growth so diversified nothing can take it down.Oil is down to 45...start contingency plans.
The IMF have edited their projections, previously their projections was 5.5% or $95BB they now see Kenya's growth will be 6% in 2018 meaning we'll have a GDP of $98b in 2019, while TZ will grow at 5.8% to $60b...
But for Nigeria it doesn't make sense...it grows at 1% but adds over 5% of it's GDP
rvp20182: Even after nearly 3000 pages of stubborn facts showing you country is backward in nearly any parameter you still obstinately reckon your country is giant.A giant doesn't need 10 pages to crush Kenya.Algeria crushed us with a single page and South Africa doesn't need to.Nigeria can and will only emerge from their hellhole once they start having honest discussion. You cannot twist or bend your undevelopment or backwardness. Its a waste of time. It waste of patriotism. You need face reality and have honest national conversation that start with the fact that Nigeria clusters with Niger in nearly any indices.Kenya we have huge problems..but we are fixing them and progressively improving. That progress is reflected in steady climb in any progressive index. It starts with honest conversation.Every country has issues..some like Rwanda were hopeless with 10% of population massacred and lot more kicked out..but alas they are turning their fortunes..with zero minerals.Their neighbor DRC are facing Ebola and nobody care.Nigeria I use to think was a great Nation that would uplift the black race..this thread has left me depressed about the future prospect.I see civil war and military taking over soon. The country has perfect mix of stupid leadership and citizenry.Kenya was in the same fix in 1990s as Moi dictatorship brought everything down..we were bottom in any index and any sane person dream was to immigrate..the country was hopeless..then we had political revolution christened NARC revolution and kicked out the gov..and for 15yrs we crawled out of the hopeless rabbit hole.In 2002 Kenyans decided enough was enough and the usual tribalism was thrown out....and course of our nation reversed. We became the most optimistic people in the world..in 15yrs..we grew our economy from 12b to 90b dollars.. electricity coverage from 12% to now nearly 80%..and even then we had blackouts..we had more kids out of school than in..our hospital stopped working...name it and for 15yrs we dramatically changed our story..and can dare dream of reaching South Africa level in another 10-15yrs.If we repeat the last 15yrs..our economy will be 600B by 2032.
Nigeria just like Somalia and DRC are the blacksheeps of the family, esp Nigeria.
Africa(minus nigere) will have a average GDP growth of over 4.% in 2018, but you add Nigeria it dilutes the momentum to 3%,
Minus Nigeria, there's 400m poor people in Africa, when you add Nigeria to jumps by 20% to 500m
By the year 2030, 90% of poverty incidence will be in Africa, 40% of that will be from Nigeria alone
sufferNsmiling: Where have all the nigerians gone too on this trade. Kenya south africa ghana ethiopia and 1 zimbabwean have pushed nigerians back into their cave
Is there any positive thing from Nigeria apart from Lekki stuff...a GDP came down from a $568B in 2014 to an exaggerated figure of $376 in 2017...
In other news, Nigerian army have killed several poor Nigerians today,
sufferNsmiling: Please all africans let's make this 3000 pages before end of 25 december so that we can celebrate in style the giant must be slayed.see the collapse of nigeria's economy and infrastructure.
