FashionSeatbelt T-Shirt Designed To Fool Police & Road Safety Officials by Kwajay(op): 10:58pm On Apr 08, 2013
SOMETIMES, inventions are revolutionary.

When the iPhone debuted in 2007, the world let out a collective gasp, as if to say, "Yes, that's just what I've been wanting!"

Sometimes, inventions are dull and sometimes, inventions are complete head-scratchers.
The seatbelt t-shirt is, quite simply, a white t-shirt that features a black strap running diagonally across the chest. It's meant to fool police and road safety officers into thinking that the driver is wearing a seatbelt.

FashionWoman Fired From Citibank For Being ' Sexy' by Kwajay(op): 10:32pm On Apr 08, 2013
A Queens woman says she was fired from a Manhattan bank for being too hot for the workplace.

Debrahlee Lorenzana, filed a lawsuit against Citibank claiming she was the victim of a hostile work environment simply because of the way she dressed on the job.

She began working at the Citibank branch in the Chrysler Building in September 2009 and soon encountered "inappropriate and sexist comments" from her male coworkers.

The 33-year-old Queens woman says she was told by her bosses to tone down her wardrobe, including form-fitting clothes like turtlenecks, pencil skirts, fitted suits and heels.

According to Lorenzana, she requested to be transfered to another branch in May 2009. After iniitally being turned down, her wish was granted in July 2009 when she was moved to the Rockfeller Center branch, but was fired in August 2009 for alleged poor job performance.

CelebritiesMiley Cyrus Smoking Weed? Snoop Lion Featured Her In His Song by Kwajay(op): 1:16pm On Apr 08, 2013
Miley Cyrus was photographed smoking a suspicious-looking cigarette as she relaxed on the balcony of her Miami hotel with friends yesterday (April 6).

The 20-year-old singer and actress looked as if she just woke up, puffing on the rolled up cig while showing off her legs in a teeny bikini bottom. Cyrus tied her blonde cropped 'do up in a ponytail as she squinted before taking a drag with her ringless finger. That's right, Cyrus' engagement rock from fiance Liam Hemsworth was not present for the smoke session.

After possibly noticing the paparazzi snapping shots, Cyrus went "incognito" and slipped on a black beanie and sunglasses.

And oddly enough, Cyrus just released her new drug reference-infused song with Snoop Lion, "Ashtrays And Heartbreaks," which is a track off his new album Reincarnated.

The people of the North are tired of all these things happening. I think if the amnesty would work, so be it but if it wont work; then we are going to see more losses in the north except a viable solution is proposed undecided undecided
CultureDistasteful Dressing By Ghanaian Women In Public (PHOTO) by Kwajay(op): 10:16am On Apr 07, 2013
We must say Ghanaian ladies are very bold set of people, they sometimes wear some of the weird looking dresses but do this with so much confidence that leaves us bemused, either someone is lying to them about their outlook or they simply do not give a damn.
Unfortunately, such trend is making waves in our own country Naija. What is wrong with these women??

PoliticsNigeria Sliding Back To Era Of Dictatorship, Says Amaechi by Kwajay(op):
Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State yesterday said Nigeria is gradually sliding back to the era of dictatorship and praised the country’s media for remaining “the ray of hope in a dark era.”

In the preliminary comments he made before reading his speech at the grand event at the Expo Centre of Eko Hotel in Lagos, where he was given the Vanguard Personality of the Year Award, the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, who has of late been involved in a war of words with President Goodluck Jonathan’s men, explained that unlike his usual style of speaking extemporally, he decided to read a prepared speech, because “I am becoming more careful, given that we are gradually going back to the era of dictatorship in this country.”

While Amaechi was formally presented as Vanguard’s Personality of the Year, 2012, at the event, Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, the Managing Director of Access Bank, was also honoured as the runner up.
According to an earlier report by Vanguard, the event was designed to highlight Amaechi’s achievements in the last one year, stating that his “feat in Rivers State has been lauded by eminent personalities.”

The report also said “he is being honoured for his widely acknowledged developmental strides which have seen noteworthy improvements in infrastructure and the impartation of governance on all sectors of the society in Rivers State.”
But responding to praises of his achievements, Amaechi, who dedicated the award to the people of Rivers State said, “I am just an errand boy. Our understanding of political power is that power belongs to the voters.”

PoliticsForgive Boko-Haram: Turai Pleads With Jonathan by Kwajay(op): 9:38am On Apr 07, 2013
Jonathan, forgive Boko Haram — Turai

https://punch.iwayafricanigeri.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Turai-360x225.jpg

Turai, wife of former President Umaru Yar’Adua, has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to forgive the Boko Haram sect as her late husband did to former militants in the Niger Delta.

The former first lady advised Jonathan not to listen to anyone who advises him not to grant the sect amnesty.

She said this in Lagos on Friday night during the Award Gala Night organised by the Niger Delta Young Professionals.

Turai said, “When Yar’Adua saw that the people in the Niger Delta, particularly the children were dying callously, he (Yar’Adua) took it upon himself to grant amnesty to the militants to ensure lasting peace.

“There is poverty in the North. What Yar’Adua did in the Niger Delta, let Jonathan do the same thing to the North.

“Mr. President should not allow his advisers to deceive him. Let him sit down and think about the insecurity in the North.”

She said she respected her late husband and would continue to do so till her death.

She also advocated youths’ empowerment, saying if the youth are empowered, the country would be empowered.

Meanwhile, President Goodluck Jonathan has blamed northern leaders for the continued Boko Haram violence.

The President, who was represented at the event by the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Kabiru Turaki, said northern leaders had not done enough to unmask those behind the group’s activities.

He said, “When the issue of Niger Delta was raging, and I will say this with all sense of responsibility, leaders of the region, particularly the governors, were the drivers of the process.

“They reached out to the people and to the militants, they spoke and took their discussion, to an appreciable level before the Federal Government stepped in and then harnessed everything.

“What efforts are the northern leaders making? We need to learn because every incident of Boko Haram in Nigeria is situated within the geopolitical confines of a region. What are the leaders doing?

“Security agencies are not magicians – they are not spirits. These people who perpetrate these crimes do not come from the moon; they live within them. Why are they not helping the security agencies with the needed information? The problem of insecurity is not only the problem of government – it is the problem of all of us.”

He said the Federal Government was making efforts towards solving the problems.

“What we solicit from Nigerians are understanding and patience,” he stated.

He said when the late Yar’Adua and himself decided to take the initiative to address the restiveness of Niger Delta militants, they knew the people they were speaking to and knew where they could go and see them, either in their creeks, headquarters or homes.

“We reached out to them and spoke to them. We understood each other and on the basis of that, an understanding was reached and it was this understanding that was faithfully executed that led us to the amnesty in the region,” he said.

He said in the case of Boko Haram, their perpetrators were unknown, except for a few of them who spoke on the Internet or to the press.

At the awards five persons were recognised including late Yar’Adua (posthumous); Akwa Ibom Governor Godswill Akpabio; his Lagos State counterpart, Babatunde Fashola; Chairman, Arik Air, Mr. Joseph Arumemi-Ikhide and 10-year-old author, Daniella Dan-Jumbo.

PoliticsPDP Challenges New Opposition Party, APC, To Debate On Economy, Others by Kwajay(op): 9:12am On Apr 07, 2013
Nigeria’s ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has congratulated four opposition parties for successfully merging into a new party, All Progressive Congress, APC.
Four existing parties, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), merged on Wednesday to form the All Progressive Congress.
In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, on Thursday, the ruling party said as the biggest party in West Africa, it welcomes the development as an indication that the nation’s democracy has come of age and is deepening.

The party said with the formation of the APC, it and indeed all Nigerians expect to see robust debates on the economy and other issues of governance in the general interest of the country.
“We congratulate the opposition for their successful merger and the formation of the All Progressive Congress. This is yet another victory to our democracy. It shows that our democracy has come of age. We hope that from now we will see robust debates on the economy and other issues of governance,” the PDP said.
