I know no matter my analysis and trying to put the record straight, the myth and rumors won't go away. But at least I believe some sensible among the gullible ones will see the truth.
The truth is every successful person or institutions or teams will always be the envy of everyone, and many will try to damage their reputation by bringing up unfounded rumors. In this case Man United was the target. Any viewing centres or pub you go to, there's always this talk of Man United being helped by referees and especially by Howard Webb. Many even insinuated he's a Man United fan and photoshopped him wearing Man United jersey.

All are conspiracy to tear Man United and Fergie's legacy down. Before Howard Webb started his referring career in the epl, United and Fergie had already won 8 epl titles. Webb only witness 5 titles. And thru out his career, he refereed 20 Man United matches with United winning 12 and losing 7 with 1 draw. That's 60% win 35% lost and 5% draw.
Among the loses in which United lost with Webb was a 1-4 humbling of United by Liverpool at Old Trafford in 2009.
If Webb was a United fan as people are making us believe, would he have allowed United greatest rival Liverpool thrash United at Old Trafford. Would Webb a United fan had allowed United lose as much as 7 matches under his watch?
Other top sides in the epl apart from Liverpool had a lower lost with Webb in charge than Man United. City and Arsenal even have 2 each.
But most majority genz fans who didn't know Webb nor watch football then has joined the bandwagon with "if no be Webb this and that."

Now lets leave Webb and the epl conspiracy, what most epl and rival fans hate to agree was that United was the best team in the epl and nay Europe at the time.
In 5 meetings with epl clubs in UCL United won all 5 home and away including the ucl final with Chelsea without "Webb assistant"
Arsenal home and away in ucl semi final in 2009, Chelsea home and away in quarter final of 2010 ucl including the 2008 final.
Apart from the Barca Guardiola team who many has described the one of if not the greatest of all time, United would have added extra two ucl titles to their already 3.
Though painful, but no shame as a United fan losing twice to that Barca team.
But apart from Barca, no team was up to United's level then which shows in United dominating the epl and being unbeaten in Europe for two years until Barca's moving train.
Just for a mention, all the 4 ucl finals United played in under Fergie were all unbeaten till the finals. United were unbeaten winning the 2008 final against Chelsea and took that unbeaten till the next season final making it a record 25 games ucl unbeaten until Barca struck which still hurt till date.
In conclusion, saying United were helped by referees nay Howard Webb were just hatred from rival fans who couldn't stomach the sustain success of United then.

Ok, ever since then. We have all heard Juventus being relegated for cheating and football fraud which includes influencing referees decision. We have heard Chelsea being ban in a transfer window for irregularities. Man City is still battling their 115 irregularities case file. Not for once has Man United been indicted for any football irregularities. Howard Webb is still alive, Fergie is still alive, majority of the players who played then and journalist then are still alive. No one has ever come out to say, this is what transpired between Man United and referees or Man United and FA about influencing matches, none till date. Bcus there was never anything like that, United were just too good beyond comprehension then that rival fans, rival players, rival journalists just invent a story to try and tarnish United's success.

Let me stop here, I definitely know the rumor won't go away just like the fabled Indian 100-1 against Nigeria. But as a United fan and other good football lovers, anytime you're confronted which such lies, I guess you now have something to counter them with.
