Congratulations

TomatoSauce1:
Hello Everyone, my visa is out!! Thank you God and thanks to all who responded to my questions.
Timeline:
Job offer: November 2021, senior care worker
Cos: February 2022
Biometrics: 23 March 2022
Collected passport today.

I have been a silent reader for some time now and I can see that it is not very easy getting a job. I want to share my experience and I hope it can be of help.

I reside in Nigeria and I got this job through networking, basically through a family member in the UK. I do not have a health degree or certification. I was introduced to my employer and one key thing he asked me was if I could drive and I said yes. He basically wanted to know if I genuinely wanted to work as a carer. Afterwards, came the job offer. At that time they had just applied for their sponsorship license. I was asked to submit my passport data page in February and shortly after I was sent my Cos.
I did my TB test, got police clearance and the rest is history.
When it came to visa application I was worried because I didn't have any care certification but my employer told me I would be trained so that was not a problem.

One thing I try to do for all my visa applications is to keep it simple. Hence, documents I submitted are:
Cos, TB cert, Police cert, marriage certificate, UK MSc degree as proof of english, previous visas and travel history. Disclaimer: there are no hard and fast rule to this, submit documents according to your individual circumstances and follow what's on the ukvi website.

Based on my experience one thing I can advice is network, network and network with those you know in the UK, this is one way people get jobs, not just in health care but other sectors.
Secondly I noticed ability to drive is a major criteria, so if you don't know how to drive, you can learn. Although my employer mentioned that wages are higher for those who drive.

I hope my long epistle is helpful, I may not be able to answer all questions, but I will try as much as I can to give answers.

Hello guys, can i pay for IHS and Visa fee using my naira Mastercard ? if not, which payment methods would you recommend.
I doubt. Limit on Naira Mastercard is $20 or something ridiculous like that. You can use Barter's USD virtual card. Their rate is pegged with the black market exchange rates

Good morning people,

Anyone knows what happens if an employer is already in the process of issuing a CoS (already applied to the home office for the CoS) but then I get another offer from another employer and want to proceed with the second employer instead? Do I have to reach out to the first employer to withdraw the CoS application or I can proceed with both companies applying for the CoS?

Has anyone experienced this? Or know anyone who has? How was it handled?

Thanks

This is amazing news. Congratulations!

Visa Alert!!!
Hehehe I've longed to type this since I discovered Nairaland in September 2020 when my husband was waiting for his second canadian visa application which he got a refusal. I was a strong follower of the Canada students thread.
I am from Kenya and I told myself wherever Nigerians are going we will go. That's how we started our journey for UK Student visa which never went far as we didn't have the amount required in bank statement.
My second option was to apply for Skilled visa which actually should have been my 1st option.
I did blind application to companies that were offering sponsorship and I got an offer and a CoS.
Timeline.

Visa Application 12/1/2022
Biometrics 14/1/2022
Tls email 26/1/2022
DHL collection 27/1/2022.
All info was gotten from this thread and less from UKVO.gov website. Truly go through the pages, you won't miss any details.
Thank you Nigerians, we did it!!!

And to the famous quote which I couldn't wait to write
"What God cannot do doesn't exist!"

Good afternoon people, please I have a question.

If your employer isn’t covering your first month, meaning you have to provide a bank statement as part of your visa application, how many months statement should you provide? Also what’s the safe period (number of days/months) that the required fund has to be sitting in your account for?

Good day people, please I need your help.

I need to renew my passport urgently, which issuing location in Lagos is a better option? Alausa or Ikoyi?

Also what’s the shortest time that I can get it and how much will I be paying?

Thanks a lot.

CoS can be issued once the company decides to employ you. Mine took 3 days after they made an offer, it could be the same day if they want.

Provide any information they want on time and follow up with your references to respond on time as well so that there is no delay from your side.

In the CoS letter, there is a column for whether the company will take care of you for the first month, if the company tick 'Y', you will not need a bank statement or PoF, if they tick 'N', you will need a bank statement or PoF.

Since you have gotten this far, I advise you to book for TB test and write IELTS to avoid delay when the CoS is eventually issued. Mine has been issued for a couple of weeks now but I haven't been able to apply for Visa because the approved TB test center didn't have an available date that was close and IELTS will take 13 days to come out after writing. Even if you are skeptical, booking for the TB test is free and you can pay on the day of the test, so just book and secure a date.

Are you in IT and which country within UK did you secure the job?
Thanks a lot. I already made a booking for the TB test (available date I got is 3rd week in December which is far). I'll send an email or go there physically to see if I can get an earlier date for the test.

Yes I'm in Technology and got the job within England.

Please I need answers to a few questions. Would appreciate if anyone can assist with answers.

How long does it take on average to get a CoS after accepting an offer from an employer?
Employer mentioned background check for 5/6 weeks before CoS is issued. What does the background check entail please?
Is there anything I can do from my end to speed up the process?
Were you required to submit bank statement as part of your visa application?

Thanks
