The worst fear of many non-U.S citizens is coming to a reality as President Donald Trump strikes immigrants again with his plans to sign an executive order to expunge the right to citizenship for babies of non-citizens and unauthorized immigrants born on U.S. soil. Trump disclosed this long-feared plan in an exclusive interview with HBO network for a new four-part documentary news series titled “Axios on HBO”

This would certainly be the most dramatic move made by Trump in his extreme immigration campaign, but this time targeting “anchor babies” and “chain migration.” This news however shocking is not unexpected from Trump as he has since waged war against immigrants and non- citizens of the U.S from the moment he began his administration. However, with Trump’s power to push his plan through executive action being debatable, victims of this iniquitous plan will not go down without a fight as another stand-off with the courts is anticipated to happen.

The Nigerian Federal, State, and Local Government spend millions of dollars on road constructions yearly but yet there are no visible improvements on many roads around the country. The road infrastructure in Nigeria is one of the major problems the country still struggles to tackle till today which is very sad and disturbing considering the amount of money poured into its development. This makes us wonder if the full money allocated for these road projects are actually being used for that purpose or being embezzled. We have seen too many road projects contracted to various foreign companies who come with many promises of transformation but end up even worsening the road situation.

In Nigeria, the average cost for constructing a kilometer of road is N1Billion which is against the World Bank’s benchmark of N238million. Even with this exorbitant amount most of the roads do not even last a few months before signs of depreciation begin to occur taking them back to square one as if the roads were never worked on in the first place. The government is hemorrhaging a ridiculous amount of money on the constant need for road repairs and we begin to wonder who to blame. Do we blame the people who were paid to construct these roads from the beginning for not laying a good foundation or do we blame it on the corruption that runs deep in the government?

The elite arm of the Lagos state All Progressives Congress (APC) party has reportedly hatched further plans to completely oust Governor Akinwunmi Ambode out of the gubernatorial sit even before the end of his tenure, following the successful bid to replace him as APC’s primary candidate for the upcoming elections for Lagos state governor.

The hatched scheme by the ruling party which has been said to now be at an advanced stage is said to be a last-minute solution to a feared defeat of the party in next year’s gubernatorial election. However, the state is in a current state of division in regards to the impeachment of Governor Ambode. Meanwhile, the Factional chairman of the state’s group of the party, Mr Fuad Oki, has warned the Lagos House of Assembly to drop its threat to impeach Governor Ambode or it would incur the wrath of the people of Lagos. During the week, former president Olusegun Obasanjo and his ex-vice president and new PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar met to reconcile their longtime feud which began during their second tenure in office back in 2003-2007. It seems like both PDP’s most powerful players finally reached a common ground based on a mutual agenda to dislodge President Muhammadu Buhari, during their meeting which held on Thursday afternoon, as Obasanjo has endorsed Atiku for president.

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is the incumbent Governor of Kano State who was elected on the 13th of April 2015 and sworn in on 29 May 2015. He was previously the two-term Deputy Governor of Kano state and served from 1999 to 2003 and 2011 to 2015 under the administration of former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.

A number of video clips currently being analysed by the Nigerian security agencies revealed the Kano state Governor receiving a $5 million bribe. Multiple sources under conditions of anonymity revealed that the governor personally receives from 15 to 25 per cent bribes for every project executed in the state. It was also revealed that two agencies have been asked by President Muhammadu Buhari to file a report and submit to him in regards to the bribery tape. The Nigerian president was said to be bitter after watching the video clips and promised to act on the report as soon as it is submitted by the two agencies.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently announced that there should be no public campaigning by any of the presidential candidates until November 18, 2018. Governor Akinwunmi Ambode ’s administration has been under the full support of his predecessor former governor Asiwaju Tinubu up until recently when corruption allegations rose against Tinubu. The former governor has been and is still a major decision holder as to the political appointments in the Lagos state government since the end of his own tenure, and anybody with ambitions to become the governor who doesn’t have his support is more or less playing a futile game.
