The Archbishop of Atlanta, Wilton D. Gregory, has said this week that bigotry and hate speech could be likened to a type of pornography.

“Such harsh and insulting language has too often given rise to acts of violence that destroy any sense of civility and public decorum. We should call such speech what it is: pornographic violence,” said the Archbishop Gregory in an interview with the Georgia Bulletin.

Pope Francis has said, in response to the terrorist attacks in Barcelona, Spain, in which 14 people died, that killing people indiscriminately is a “very great insult” to God.

A well-renowned Ghanaian singer, Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, better known as Mzbel, has declared that God is not against ladies dating married men.

Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, who made the declaration in an interview on radio, had earlier said she does not believe in Jesus Christ and that Christianity is idol worship.

The singer said there is nothing wrong with dating a married man because her religion allows it.

The wife of a Prophet of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), Sunday Afolabi, has taken her husband to an Ado-Ekiti Magistrate’s Court for sexually abusing their daughters.

The prophet’s wife, Susan, alleged that Afolabi was caught inserting his fingers into the private parts of their female children while sleeping in the midnight.

The woman also accused her husband of committing the same sexual harassment on his female church members whenever they come for night vigils, which had led to some members avoiding him.

The Pastor of the Mind of Christ Christian Centre in California and Abuja, Mr Reno Omokri, has revealed that the viral anti-Igbo song that had been circulated into part of the country is likely to lead to genocide.

A former presidential aide, Omokri, who is also the former presidential aide of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has called for the arrest and prosecution of those behind it.

Omokri said in a statement on Monday that Nigeria must not take the reported anti Igbo song exposed by the Foundation for Peace Professionals as circulating surreptitiously in parts of the country lightly.

It’s all gang war, says governor

Some survivors of the Sunday killings at St. Philip’s Catholic Church, Ozubulu, of Anambra State, have tearfully relived their ordeal in interviews with newsmen.

The survivors relived their experiences at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), where doctors are battling to save their lives.

The wife of a man who was believed to be the target of the gunman, Mrs. Caroline Ikegwuonwu, 40, is one of the injured at the hospital. Her husband, Mr. Chief Akunwafor Ikegwuonwu, was shot dead by the gunman who then turned his gun on other parishioners.

Okoye Patricia, 46, and her 20-year-old son, Odinaka Okoye, are also hospitalised as a result of bullet wounds.

But one of those who missed being hit by the bullet, 24 year old Mary Cynthia Ndulue’s brother, Samuel Ndulue, has his legs riddled with bullets.

Cynthia’s escape was “miraculous”, she said, thanking God for His mercy. She regretted that her brother was affected in the shootings.

Hospital authorities described survivors’ condition as stable.

All was calm yesterday at Ozubulu. Residents were going about their normal businesses.

But the chairman of Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Ikenna Ofodeme, said they were not ruling out political influence in the tragedy as it is a governorship election year.

But he ruled out any terror link to the attack in which 12 persons died and 27 others were hospitalised.

He said the Obunadike family lost three persons. A member of the family, Mr. Joel Obunadike, told The Nation that he lost his uncle, his brother’s wife and her niece during the attack.
