@Op...didn't you check the weather forecast before travelling?...or were you that desperate? Still waiting to see pics of the restaurant....and word of the food! Not much to look at along the way....were you disappointed by lack of interesting scenery? ...and are these pics from the SLR?....look more like pbone cam to me unless visibility was that bad. Saw you doing like 60mph/100kph....what's the speed limit on
those open roads? Interesting thread!
55 mph is the limit on country highways but 60 is ok. 70 is the limit on interstates but u can do 75, somtimes 80, depending. Clocked 91 once coming back from Georgia. Those days re behind me now.
the pictures re from a 5s. DSLRs re difficult to use when driving.
The rain was nothing. If u live in the NE. USA, u will get used to driving in conditions like this:

I'm curious to know what part of Columbus you'll end up in...remember when I had to beg my friends to take me to an African store. I just could not cope with their food no more after three months.

I was like if I dont eat EBA this week...I am going to die.
I was on Morse road, but majorly on Cleveland avenue

Sorry for the late update of pictures. Remember that there is a 6 hours time difference between the east coast USA and lagos. You already requesting for pictures when I have not even left home. Anyways, I'm gone and back. Relax and enjoy pictrs from the trip.
Left home ET 7:30 am.(1:30pm Lagos). Due to the winter season just setting in, 'twas still very dark outside. Packed myself some fresh coffee and my DSLR for some downtown Columbus pictrs.

This may sound crazy, but i'm driving over 400 miles just to have a taste of home. Just discovered this terrific Nigerian restaurant in Columbus Ohio. Based on the reviews online, I know I will be treated to some solid home cooking. The closest to home cooking I've had in the past 3 years is the mexican place down the road, but you still can't compare that to naija food. Finally decided to look for some real naija food no matter where the search leads me., sound crazy, but you will understand after 3 years with nothing but Tators and fries, mac and cheese, pizza and lasagna, Big macs., etc. lol., Long story short., driving to Columbus. decided to take the scenic route while going and come back on the interstate. I'll be sharing pictures of rural America, Stay tuned....

Travel / Re: No More Renewal Of The Nigerian E- Passport by lagosboy86: 1:22am On Jan 08, 2014
got this online from travel 9ja facebook page. its the procedure as of june 24 2013
"Nigerian passport has a life span of 10 years, with an initial validity of five years. After the first five years, you are required to renew your passport, and after 10 years you will need to obtain a new passport, also called a reissue.

When you renew your passport, a renewal sticker stating the next expiration date (five years from the renewal date) is placed on the observations page. You can renew your passport at the Passport Office of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), if you are within the country.
The Federal Republic of Nigeria has an embassy located in Washington, D.C. and consulates in New York and Atlanta making it easy to meet all your consular needs."
Travel / No More Renewal Of The Nigerian E- Passport by lagosboy86: 9:26pm On Jan 07, 2014
Just got off the phone with a Nigerian consular official at the New York consulate and i got the shocking news that there is no more renewal of the Nigerian e-passport. called the consulate in Atlanta and DC and got the same response. The implication of this is that you have to apply in person (biometrics capture and all) for a Nigerian passport every five years. The previous E passport has an initial validity of 5 years after which it can be renewed (same passport with an extension sticker for another 5 years), making it viable for a total of 10 years. with the new regulation, an applicant will have to reapply and be reissued a new e-passport every 5 years.

Car Talk / Honda Accord 2008 Vs Toyota Camry 2008. by lagosboy86: 9:23pm On Sep 29, 2012
HELLO GUYS, i'm in the process of getting my first car, and i am having a difficult time choosing between these two brands. They both cost around the same ( approximately $ 12,500) both have milages less than 70,000, gas consumption is around the same back in nigeria, i used to drive my dad's honda crv '07, n the experience was nice, but i never had a toyota driving experience. i am presently in the US, but i dont want to go for any american brand. please advise based on the following criteria., 1. better resale value in nigeria., 2. lower cost of maintanance. 3. durability, 4. driving pleasure. Thanks.
