Travel / Dual National Traveling To Nigeria With Passports With Different Names by lagosboy86: 10:02pm On Oct 21, 2021
Hello All, I am a dual national, (Naija and US passport holder). I'm trying to book a flight to visit lagos. The issue right now is that the names on my Naija and US passports don't exactly match. For the sake of simplicity, The names on my Naija passport is written as ABC, with A being my first name, while that on my yankee passport is BAC, with B as my first name. I'm at a loss as to what name to use in booking the flight ticket. I was initially going to book the ticket using the names as it appears on my Naija passport, as this will grant me entry without hassels into Lagos, but I'm worried I might have issues when leaving as the name on the ticket won't match the name on my Yankee passport. I spoke with the airline customer service and I was advised to buy 2 separate tickets, (one with my Naija passport name and the other with Yankee PP name) or book 2 separate one way trips, but the cost of this is more than double the original cost of a round trip ticket.
To the experienced travelers in the house, how can I go about resolving this?

No it’s not. It’s the World Head Quarters of Jehovah’s witnesses, owned by the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society.

Education / Re: Nigerians Who Studied Abroad, Do You Have Any Regrets? by lagosboy86: 9:42am On Nov 11, 2019
None at all!!!. Came to the US in 2012 for my Masters. Graduated 2014. Now working as a chemist a Metals Plant. Been back to visit Lagos a couple of times. Met up with a couple of my colleagues from back then in uni. Sad to see most of them still struggling to get by.
Studying in the US is by far the best decision I ever made. I miss Lagos though.

oppsss, be that as it may let's think of the way forward. Browse through the NIS portal you can find their contact details which you can make your inquiries but I fear they won't respond swiftly but then I can still help in my own little way since I am going to get my international passport tomorrow at the NIS office I can enquire about how to go about it for someone like you. I will give you a feedback by 9am tomorrow

Thanks. Looking forward to your feedback.

No...

I live in the United States & I was only required to provide my Social Security Number...

Ok, thanks. Planning to renew mine later this month at ATL consulate. Just covering all my bases. Do you know if the’ve started issuing the new e-passport with 10 year validity?

Yes you can get it at the embassy, it's quite unfortunate that the Nigerian embassy isn't responding to your calls but I think you should mail them. Go to their webpage and get their email address.
You can apply straight for the passport re-issue same day if you get it. Let me ask, Do you have any form of identification like national id card or voters card or drivers license if you do have. Then you can simply copy the id code of any of them which can still serve as NIN

Unfortunately, I don’t have any form of Nigerian ID, except my NG passport and birth certificate. I will mail them, just to be certain of the requirements before i go. I will sure hate to travel several hundred miles, just to be denied.
Thanks

I have done Nigerian Passport Renewal at the Nigerian Consulate General in Atlanta & Nigerian Embassy in New York...

I have also obtained my United States Passport from the Washington Passport Agency in Washington D.C.

It’s very unlikely that you will obtain your Nigerian Passport the same day...

However, you can definitely pick up your Nigerian Passport the following day...

Regarding my Nigerian Passport, I renewed mine early last year in Atlanta, Georgia...

You won’t be able to pick up your passport the same day...

I ended up picking it up the following day since I informed them that I was visiting from out-of-state...

I paid $60 for expedited processing {Bought a $60 Money Order from Kroger, Cash isn’t accepted by the Consulate General in Atlanta, Georgia}

I also ended up spending a night in a hotel {Comfort Inn Roswell, Georgia} which is only about 30 minutes from the Consulate General by Uber depending on Traffic...

Were you required to provide a NIN number for the renewal? If so, how did you get the NIN number?
Thanks

if you don't have NIN, kindly visit NIMC office. you can locate their office at any local government secretariat or go to their branch head office at your state capital. make inquiries from people if you stay in your state capital, they will direct you to where their office is. you will get it that day in some local government council secretariat while in some they will say no network that you should come back in few weeks then you know you have to rub their palms with sth. all you need to do is to call the attention of the guy or person operating the computer maturedly , within minutes your NIN number is out.

but it's different at the state capitals office. the basic requirement of you is your bvn, state of origin, nepa bill, any id card

lastly, you cannot process your intl passport with out the NIN, it's your personal identification number, so go and get it.

cheers and happy Sunday

I reside in the US. Do you think I can get the NIN at the nigerian embassy/consulate? I’ve tried calling the embassy several times, but haven't been able to reach them. I don’t have a BVN but i do have US ids, US license and utility bills. Can I go ahead with the passport renewal on the same day, if i get the NIN done at the embassy?
Thanks

How does one get the NIN number? One of the requirements on the NIS website for passport renewal is a NIN number. Can i get my passport renewed without this?

Car Talk / Gas Is Cheap... Let's Go V6. Toyota Avalon 2012 Vs Venza 2012 by lagosboy86: 5:16am On Aug 24, 2015
hello folks., Life's been great, My old trusty 08 camry just clocked 86,000 miles. I'm deciding to upgrade. My reasons for getting the camry as a student 3 years ago was cos of its reliability and gas economy. It's been the best car you can ever dream to have. Not a single issue except for the periodic oil changes. Still drives like new in my opinion.
With the falling gas prices and new job, i think its time for an upgrade. My criteria for choosing a car now is Power and performance. I'll still stick with the toyota brand cos of its reliability. My options re the 2012 venza or 2012 avalon. They both come with a similar 3.5 liter V6 engine. The avalon has a slightly better MPG cos of its lighter frame. The venza however has an AWD and tow option lacking in the avalon.
I'm kinnda torn between these vehicles as they are both sweet to drive., Actually no difference btw them in my opinion. (both less than 60,000 miles). avalon cost around $17k while the venza is $19.5k. (Both are Limited fully loaded)
At the end, i think my choice will come down to the resale value as i may end up selling after a few years. To the gurus in d house, which vehicle has better resale value in lagos?
Appreciate all response.....

sure. I followed a recipe i found on youtube. i used carrots, sweet corn, green peas, (Got them in a pack all mixed). onions, shrimps, red ball pepper, white pepper, curry, thyme, bouillon cubes and chicken broth.
I fried the the rice in a little oil with some onions. I then added the chicken broth and allowed the rice to steam in it for about 15 mins. while the rice was steaming, i fried the veggies in a separate pan. I added some salt and a little curry and thyme. I then mixed the fried veggies with the steamed rice and allowed to cook for 5-10 more mins. Hope this helps. you can also go on youtube. there re tons of fried rice recipes

Op, you tried... guess people have various ways of making fried rice, for me i fry my rice with veggies/liver together but in parts...
U right. I never made it before. The instructions I followed stated that I fry the rice and veggies separately before adding them together.
